SUMMARY Regarding the improvement of culture system and technologies culture of greenhouse vegetable at world level, it can be found the extension of so iless culture using different substrates. Soiless c ulture have a series of advantages as: rigorously and sche duled control of mineral nutrition and water supply , a better control of pest and diseases, thermo energ y saving, due to the elimination of soil steam disinfection, elimination of soil tillage etc.(Chou x Cl.,Cl.Foury,1994, Lemaire F., 1991). In Romania the greenhouses are cultivated in classical system (in soil), in two culture cycles, winter-summer and summer-autumn. Because of this, yields are relative ly small, late and they are obtained with high expenses due to high energy and materials cost, wit h appreciably economic efficiency diminish of greenhouse cultures. In Romania, in the scientific research groups, exis ted preoccupations concerning the systems of culture in containers (sacks or growing bags), usin g as substrates local available materials (peat, fo rest compost, well decomposed manure). The researches of vegetable department of USAMV ClujNapoca, Romania, followed tomatoes culture on PE bags, on organic substratum, supplied nutrients and nutritive solutions. The main advantages of “so iless systems” on organic substrata in polyethylene bags are: high decrease of substrate v olume (about 4-5%), of water requirement (about 810%) and nutriens used (about 3-8%) comparing with classical system, in soil, requirements (Sonnenveld C.,1981). In experiment , it was used new mixture substratum , made of brown peat (80%) and long duration fallow soil + well decomposed manure (20%), fertilized with macro and micronutrients, and. The old mixture had the same composition wit h the new one, but it had been used a year before, for tomatoes culture. Before re-use it was steam disinf ected. A substrate mixture made of new organic substrate (50%) and perlite (50%) were used too. Th e culture was done in opaque (non transparent) PE bags with different volume: 6, 8 and respectively 1 2 l of substrate/plant. In our research, a particular attention was given t o the influence of nutrition (especially at the foliar fertilization) on fruit quality. The high co ntent of potassium of the used foliar fertilizer (N , P, K, 10:5:26) weekly applied, increases in case of all f oliar fertilized variants the acidity of the fruit, thus improving their flavor. The highest total sugar co ntent of fruit was recorded by Cronos F 1 hybrid (4,64,8%) and it increases both in case of organic subs trate culture and in case of foliar fertilization.
