This article is devoted to the study of the problem-thematic originality of modern Crimean poetry, as represented in lyrical anthologies and on Internet sites. The aim of the research is to identify the artistic features of the poetry of contemporary Crimean authors. The scientific novelty is determined by the fact that, for the first time, the main trends in the development of Crimean poetry at the beginning of the 21st century are considered monographically. The study found that modern Crimean poetry, formed under the influence of complex historical and political contexts, reflects many themes and motifs related to identity, memory, nature, and socio-political changes. The dominant theme of Crimean poetry remains landscape lyrics, developing under the influence of the Russian romantic tradition. By focusing on the beauty of the southern peninsula, modern authors enrich landscape lyrics, firstly, by strengthening civic-patriotic motives and images, conveying historical connections between the past and the present, and affirming the importance of the Crimean land as an integral part of Russia (lyrics by T. Shorokhova). Secondly, through a philosophical component related to the motifs of separation, loss of spiritual connection with native places, where Crimea is perceived as an image of a spiritual Home; questions of existence, loneliness and the search for the meaning of life are often resolved through metaphors of natural phenomena (works by E. Baranova, K. Vikhlyaev). Thirdly, the synthesis of temporal layers – ancient, medieval, Soviet – actualizes the dialogue of eras and personal authorial experiences, also enhancing the philosophical component of landscape lyrics (poetry by Yu. Kotler, E. Korobkina, L. Boldov). Fourthly, the "resort myth" receives a new accentuating sound, where the exotic beauty of Crimean nature is ironically comprehended through the cliché consciousness of the modern tourist (M. Matveeva).

Religious Tolerance in Hinduism

Among all religions of the world, Hindu religion is considered as an ancient religion that is recognized as foundation of civilization. Hindu Dharma is a righteous way of life based on accumulated wisdom of great sages, Vedas, Upanishads and Agamas. Various basic concepts like Dharma, Karma, Ahimsa, Rebirth, Moksha (Nirvana) are inherited by various dharmic traditions like Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism from Hinduism. Hinduism is the world’s oldest religious tradition; it goes back to the very dawn of history. The hymns composed some 5,000 years ago are still recited today. Hinduism is the third largest of the world’s religions, after Christianity and Islam. Nearly 800 million people or one-seventh of humanity call Hinduism their spiritual home. Millions more in South and Southeast Asia and in the Far East trace their spiritual roots to Hinduism.

In the era of intelligent media, intelligent media technology, under the coercion of capital, has led to the "sensory carnival" and "absence of rationality" among young people. The spread of Western cultural hegemony through intelligent media has triggered a crisis of mainstream value identification among young college students and threatened ideological security. In the era of intelligent media, it is particularly necessary to carry out ideological and political education for college students around the aesthetic dimension, correct the alienation of sensibility and rationality brought about by sensory aesthetics, restore the transcendent attributes and value connotations of aesthetics with the truthfulness of ideological and political education, reshape the spiritual home of college students, correct the deviation of college students' values, and strengthen the identification of mainstream values.

From Family to Community: A Preliminary Discussion on Strengthening the Sence of the Chinese National Community through the Integration of Family and Country

The Chinese nation shares the same culture and ancestry, and the traditional values of the unity and homogeneity of the family and the country in Chinese civilization indicate the development prospects and process of various ethnic groups on the road of rejuvenation, which is characterized by unity and solidarity, and has become an endogenous driving force for strengthening the sense of community of the Chinese nation. At a new historical starting point, with the focus and support on the unity of family and country, we aim to strengthen the sense of community among the Chinese nation, providing important value guidance and spiritual support for consolidating the shared spiritual home of the Chinese nation and consolidating its centripetal force. We should promote the construction of modern civilization of the Chinese nation and enhance the cultural subjectivity of the Chinese nation; Focusing on "small families", melting millions of "family dreams" into the "Chinese Dream" of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation; Focusing on "everyone", inheriting and innovating excellent traditional Chinese culture, and enhancing the subjectivity of Chinese national culture; Looking at the world, we should enhance the conscious identification of various ethnic groups with the sense of community of the Chinese nation through cultural exchange and mutual learning.

Образ дома в латиноамериканском романе 1980-х годов (на примере романа Исабель Альенде «Любовь и тьма»)

The research aims to identify the characteristics of the spatial image of home in the Latin American novel of the 1980s. The originality of this research lies in the fact that the image of home is examined for the first time as a key element of the artistic code of the novel “Of Love and Shadows” by the Chilean writer Isabel Allende, which has not been a subject of research in Russian Spanish studies so far. As a result of the research, the authors determined that in the Latin American novel of the 1980s (in particular, in Allende’s work under consideration), the image of home continues to be one of the most important artistic images, fully revealing its polyfunctionality but demonstrating certain transformations. In Allende’s novel “Of Love and Shadows”, the image of home is represented by three images of a dwelling (an urban house (mansion), a rural (village) house, and a house built by the owners themselves). These images organize the space of the work, mark the development of the plot and the evolution of the main character’s image, illustrate the life of Chilean society in a particular historical period, and also establish a connection with traditional Latin American cultural and worldview dominants. At the same time, I. Allende transforms the familiar “material” image of home and develops the image of the “spiritual home” rooted in human memory.

Writing Humanity in Yemi’s Fragrant Hearth Mountain

Among the writers in Suzhou, Ye Mi is a writer with distinctive creative personality that cannot be ignored. Based on the detailed reading of the novel “Fragrant Furnace Mountain”, this paper combines the relevant materials for a comprehensive analysis, starting from the three aspects of describing the picture of human nature, the narrative strategy of human nature writing, and the internal causes of human nature, to observe the disclosure of human nature and the warmth of the novel, and to show the beautiful literary desire of Ye Mi to repair the defective spiritual home.

The Integration of the Yellow River culture and the Common Spiritual Homeland of the Chinese Nation

As an important part of the traditional Chinese culture, the Yellow River culture needs to realize the integration with the common spiritual homeland of the Chinese nation in contemporary times. On the basis of analyzing the value of the Yellow River culture in constructing the common spiritual homeland of the Chinese nation, this article still explores the construction of the common spiritual homeland of the Chinese nation based on the Yellow River culture, in order to provide certain support for constructing a shared spiritual home for the Chinese nation.

Research about Sensibility of Local Literature between Chinese Mainland and Taiwan in the 1980s

A significant genre in Chinese literary history is local literature. It has been a recurring theme ever since it first appeared. Being the pioneer of regional literature, Lu Xun’s writings are pieces in which he describes his home environment while feeling homesick, allowing him to live elsewhere. Following decades of growth, local literature has persisted in producing unique works based on Lu Xun. Many experts specializing in rural literature have emerged with changing connotations and ideologies. During the 1980s and 1990s, mainland China was represented by authors such as Jia Pingwa and Wang Zengqi. Representative writers from Taiwan include Lin Qingxuan. This article examines the similarities and differences between Mr. Wang Zengqi’s “Ordination” and Mr. Lin Qingxuan’s “Flying into Miscanthus “ about language, folklore, and the natural environment. Through a comparative examination, one may observe that the emotional support depicted in mainland and Taiwanese local literature follows a similar trend across historical periods—from hometown to spiritual home—before evolving into emotional fulfillment.

Deconverted Hearts in a Deconverted Church

In recent years, many evangelicals have been experiencing increasing discomfort with the conservative Christian subculture. While some leave organized religion entirely, others find a new spiritual home in more progressive evangelical churches. In this article, I analyze two such deconversions to “Churchome,” a megachurch based in Seattle and Los Angeles that particularly caters to disenchanted or deconverted evangelicals and in which I have conducted two years of ethnographic fieldwork. While both of my interviewees echo classic Protestant critiques as reasons for their deconversion, they do not express these in moral or theological but rather in emotional and therapeutic terms. I will show that, as my interviewees re-evaluate previously learned theologies and practices from the perspective of a new emotional and therapeutic style, their deconversions function like therapy. Churchome not only guides this process as a church for the deconverted, but also presents itself as a deconverted church, making “continuous deconversion” its primary identity.

In spirit and in truth: (re)searching Christianity and racial liberation in education

As educational justice scholarship addressing racial oppression continues to name the role of the spirit, there is a need for Black and Brown Christian educators and researchers to locate ourselves as grounded in the epistemologies and pedagogies of Christ as our spiritual home. This paper brings together eight Black and Brown Christian educators and researchers to grapple with what it means to be Christians committed to racial justice in education against the backdrop of centuries of religious corruption. Through collaborative autoethnography, we turn to our spiritual and religious lives situated within our racialized identities to challenge the disciplinary and material boundaries of what critical qualitative research counts as “knowing.” In doing this, we give ourselves, and all educators and researchers, permission to make evident the unseen forces that shape our ways of being in research and teaching.

A Grand Challenge Update: Geothermal Energy

_ This is the first of a series of six articles on SPE’s Grand Challenges in Energy, formulated as the output of a 2023 workshop held by the SPE Research and Development Technical Section in Austin, Texas. Described in a JPT article last year, each of the challenges will be discussed separately in this series: geothermal energy; improving recovery from tight/shale resources; net-zero operations; carbon capture, storage, and utilization; digital transformation; and education and advocacy. _ SPE identified five technical “Grand Challenges” in 2023 which, if successfully developed, could advance the interests of the SPE community in a net-zero world and help ensure our longevity and contributions to a prosperous future (Halsey et al. 2023). Access to the subsurface is a key skillset of the SPE community, including geology and geophysics, well construction and completion, reservoir engineering, production operations, and facilities. The challenges that geothermal faces to become a leading player in the net-zero world are well within the areas of expertise of the SPE community, ranging from rapid technology implementation and learning-by-doing to assure competitiveness, to establishing suitable funding mechanisms to secure access to capital. The increasing presence of geothermal-related sessions in SPE workshops and conferences shows the interest to explore novel methods to harness geothermal energy for power supply, thermal-use applications, and energy storage, illustrated by the threefold increase in OnePetro references since 2020 (Fig. 1). The Role of the Oil and Gas Industry Geothermal energy offers a path forward using business models that are well-suited to the oil and gas industry, which can apply its current technology and expertise to produce clean, reliable power and thermal energy at scale. Geothermal is also the only baseload renewable energy source that produces heat, presenting an avenue to mitigate the largest contribution humanity makes to carbon emissions: heating and cooling which account for 40% of all carbon emissions globally (Lund and Toth 2021). Table 1 presents some of the current applications. In 2023, the Energy Institute of The University of Texas at Austin released a comprehensive report, “The Future of Geothermal in Texas,” led by Project InnerSpace (Beard and Jones 2023). The report presented a challenge to leverage the technical capabilities and resources in the state. It estimated that “should the industry drill 15,000 geothermal wells each year for four years, it would provide the energy equivalent of all oil and gas used for electricity and heat production in the State today, including industrial heat.” This initiative is part of a broader movement in Texas, the spiritual home of the US fossil fuel industry, where a new geothermal energy ecosystem is emerging with veterans of the oil and gas business playing pivotal roles. Geothermal energy cannot only help to reduce the state’s emissions but also through its baseload and energy storage capabilities, it can support a power grid that has struggled to cope with severe weather events as demand has grown. Texas serves as a prime example of a location deeply tied to fossil fuels, where numerous oil and gas developers are announcing plans for geothermal expansion. This trend is not confined to Texas alone; similar developments are underway in other US states, Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East.

Research on Chinese-style Modernization and the Construction of a Cohesive Chinese National Community

Promoting Chinese-style modernization is an important task in realizing the millennium ambitions of the Chinese nation. The construction of a Chinese national community serves as a potent ideological weapon for consolidating consensus among various ethnic groups, rallying unity, and advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the comprehensive modernization drive. It is an inevitable requirement for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and a steadfast guarantee for advancing Chinese-style modernization. In the process of promoting Chinese-style modernization, continuous efforts must be made to advance the construction of the Chinese national community, solidifying correct historical, ethnic, national, cultural, and religious perspectives. This entails building a shared spiritual home for Chinese-style modernization, fostering interactions, exchanges, and integration among ethnic groups, enhancing the modernization level of the governance system and capabilities in ethnic affairs, and resolutely guarding against significant risks and hidden dangers in the ethnic domain.

AN ANALYSIS OF THE MYTHICAL PATTERNS IN ULYSSES FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF ARCHETYPE THEORY

As one of the important creative themes of modern literature, mythology is constantly reiterated in the writings of modern writers. Through retelling, we can travel through the time tunnel and feel the poetic wisdom of our ancestors. The inherent characteristic of myth is symbolism, and at the same time, it has strong metaphor and inclusiveness, which has opened up an almost infinite space of meaning for modern writers. Mythology provides rich prototype resources for the plot structure framework of narrative works, and expresses the writer's unique creative perspective and aesthetic awareness. James Joyce was an outstanding modern novelist in the West in the 20th century, and he created unique mythological novels. Ulysses adopts the mythological prototype structure and uses the theme of the ancient hero Odysseus returning home, echoing the deep meaning of modern people's search for a spiritual home. This paper uses the theory of myth-prototype criticism and combines the theory of collective unconsciousness to explore the creation mode of Ulysses from the perspective of mythic archetype criticism, to explain how ancient myths and modern writers have a spiritual fit, and to further feel the uniqueness of Joyce's novels. Some artistic charm and the practical significance brought by Ulysses. Our era needs the spirit of exploration and courage left over from the early days of human society, and the connotation of archetypal criticism has positive ideological value to this day.

‘The Home Beyond Home’: Dr. Balbinder S. Bhogal in conversation with Dr. Sunny Dhillon

This piece is a lightly edited transcript of an interview with Dr. Bhogal conducted by Sunny in late 2022 in Nottingham, UK. Key themes that emerge concern the untranslatable aspects of ‘religion’ (Derrida, 2002), finding a spiritual home, negotiating the dialectic between bodily wisdom and linguistic expression, as well as how to possibly lead a life of integrity in the face of myriad challenges.

The Creation of “Sacred Place” through the “Sense of Place” of the Daci’en Wooden Buddhist Temple, Xi’an, China

After the Industrial Revolution, new technologies and architectural forms gradually replaced China’s wooden construction system, which had lasted for thousands of years. The architectural narrative also turned a new page. As pieces of architectural and cultural heritage and as the residence of “gods”, wooden Buddhist temples carry the indelible imprints of history and religion and have become a healing place or spiritual home for people living in urban areas. In order to preserve the local cultural context and explore the creation of a spiritual “sacred place”, this study traces the spiritual and cultural value of Xi’an’s wooden Buddhist temple through ethnographic qualitative methods of text analysis, observation and interviews. The case study examines the metaphorical symbolism of the architecture’s “sense of place” and religion in terms of architectural structure and components, and the advantages of creating a “sacred place” are examined based on the characteristics of wooden materials. The results show that the design elements of wooden Buddhist temples connect cultural identity and collective memory, which are inseparable from religion, and because of the material properties of wood, they sublimate the sacred atmosphere of religion. Moreover, identifying the “sense of place” and the atmosphere of sacred spaces through the structure, components, and material characteristics of wooden temple architecture offers a new perspective that focuses on architectural emotions and creates a new topic of “sacred places”. Such temples have the potential to enhance human spiritual health and well-being.

The past as a prologue: aspirations for the future portrayed in Chinese vernacular miniature monuments

ABSTRACT Whether to look to the past is a perennial dilemma, as the past evokes both terror and pleasure. Focusing on miniature monuments built for ancestors in the context of pre-modern China, this study reveals that while the peak period of production of miniature monuments occurred during the Han dynasty, the miniature monument building practice can be traced to living cases today. This paper highlights a phenomenon, a vision of the future imagined by descendants was integrated into a dialogue with the past through the agency of symbolic representations of buildings constructed for the deceased. Architecture, in this sense, acted as a facilitator of difficult communication with the deceased and conveyed profound desires that people strongly embraced but could not articulate. Such desires and dreams may not be accommodated in reality, but constructing miniature monuments in honour of ancestors reiterates that architecture is a spiritual home for brave imaginations and deep desires of people.

the article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of artistic embodiment of the image of the Mordovian region in the creative work of K. Tangalychev and fits into the complex of studies of domestic literary studies concerning the problem of analyzing the author’s individual style. The subject of analysis is the ways and methods of creating the image of the small homeland in the prose and poetic texts of the author. Objective: to reveal the specificity of representation of the image of the Mordovian region in the artistic heritage of K. Tangalychev. Research materials: poetry collections of K. Tangalychev “The Nearest Village” (2001), “The Tin Century” (2014), “The Pedigree of the Sunset” (2017), and the book of essays “The Return of the Strawberry” (2023). Results and novelty of the research: the creative work of K. Tangalychev, the poet and publicist, occupies a special place in the literary process of Mordovia. Tatar by nationality, living in close proximity to the Mordovian and Russian peoples, he praised the multinational region rich in cultural traditions. A distinctive feature of his artistic works is a dialectical combination of national and international, everyday life, ancient history and modernity. The scientific novelty of the article is due to the fact that it represents the first experience of a comprehensive study of the image of the small homeland in the literary heritage of the author. In the course of the study it was established that K. Tangalychev’s nonfiction works are deeply lyrical, and his poetry is permeated with autobiographical beginning. The central artistic dominant of his works is the image of his small homeland – the native village Akcheevo, which is mythologized into a symbolic image of ancient Greek Hellas – the place of strength and creative inspiration of the poet. The sacredness of this geographical topos is created by the key constants – the image of a mother praying for her son; native nature reflecting the divine essence of the universe; fellow villagers preserving national traditions; the legendary historical past of the Temnikovsky region. The lyrical hero, closely merged with the image of the poet himself, deeply experiences the destruction of human ties with his spiritual Home, hence, the motif of memory as the plot-forming basis of creativity of K. Tangalychev acquires special importance.

Leadership and Spiritual Resources in the Anthropocene: Some Practical Theological Reflections

Faith communities are found all over the world as spaces where people find a spiritual home and where spiritual formation takes place. For this contribution, the research question is: In what ways can the leadership in faith communities contribute towards spiritual resources for their members in the time of the Anthropocene? Faith communities are spaces where three resources (a shared narrative about climate change, shared values and shared symbols and practices) interact and where each of these can also make a unique contribution to raising awareness of ownership and space in the time of the Anthropocene. If the Anthropocene is considered as the period in which human activities have the dominant influence on the climate and the environment, these three resources offer important contributions for a greater awareness of humans’ influence on the climate and the environment. The congregational leader as spiritual guide in the modes of storyteller, moral compass and symbolic worker can play a significant role in the process of mobilising people of faith in becoming involved in their environment and climate mobilisation. In the long historical development process, Yi people has invented and created various folk houses with distinctive characteristics. Yi folk houses are important material and cultural symbols in Yi culture. They embody the ethical thoughts of blood, respectability, nature worship, ancestor worship, totem worship and other beliefs and customs, the spiritual and cultural content it contains is an important component of the traditional spiritual home of the Yi ethnic group.
