Spatial-temporal differentiation and influencing mechanism of green development efficiency in three major urban agglomerations in Zhejiang Province, China.

Improving the green development efficiency of the three major urban agglomerations in Zhejiang is an important way to faster build the pilot demonstration area of beautiful China. Based on county panel data from 2000 to 2019 of 41 counties (cities) included in the three major urban agglomerations, we combined the super-efficiency SBM model with window analysis to evaluate the efficiency, and used spatial econometric analysis method to study the spatial distribution and the differences in regional difference. Furthermore, the fixed panel fixed effect model was used to explore the differential influencing mechanism. The results showed that green development efficiency of the three major urban agglomerations increased gradually with fluctuations during the study period. The distribution of efficiency values gradually shifted from a situation of 'high in the north and low in the south' to a 'relatively common and coordinated' development in the various regions. There was a significant spatial agglomeration effect in green development efficiency of the three major urban agglomerations, but it presented fluctuating phenomenon among cities which were at the similar level. The average green development efficiency of central Zhejiang urban agglomeration was the highest. The development within the three major urban agglomerations was relatively stable. The annulus Hangzhou Bay urban agglomeration came next, with stable development. The Wenzhou-Taizhou coastal urban agglomeration was the lowest, but the efficiency enhancement was the largest. The increases in population density, along with the proportion of added value of tertiary industry in GDP, per capita industrial added value, local fiscal expenditures, education expenditures and per capita actual use of foreign capital could improve the efficiency of green development. However, the increases in industrial electricity consumption and fixed asset investment in kennels would inhibit the improvement of green development efficiency. The impacts of per capita industrial added value, local fiscal expenditure, education expenditure and per capita actual use of foreign capital on urban agglomerations were heterogeneous among different cities.

Its "production-living-ecological" function problems and contradictions have become increasingly prominent. The coupling and coordination analysis of "production-living-ecological" functions is the basis of land space planning and regional sustainable development. Taking the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration as the research area, 31 indicators were selected from six aspects of agricultural production, non-agricultural production, living standards, living security, ecological pressure and ecological security to construct the evaluation index system of " production-living-ecological " functions. The entropy weight method and AHP method were used to determine the weight of the evaluation index. The coupling coordination degree model was introduced to evaluate the"production-living-ecological " functions and analyze its coupling coordination degree from 2000 to 2019. The panel data model and Robust regression were used to analyze the main factors affecting the "production-living-ecological " functions in the study area.The results show that:(1) The production, living and ecological functions of the study area have improved steadily from 2000 to 2019. Among them, the development of production function in the east and west is better than that in the middle, and the low value area is reduced.; The living function of the east is better than that of the west, and that of the south is better than that of the north.; The ecological function shows the best change characteristics from southwest to southeast over time. The overall performance of ‘production-living-ecological’ functions is ‘the east is better than the west, the south is better than the north, and the southeast is the best’ pattern, with obvious spatial differences; (2) The proportion of cities with severe production-life imbalance decreased from 23.08% to 0, the proportion of cities with basic coordination increased from 11.54% to 46.15%, the proportion of cities with moderate coordination increased from 0 to 53.85%, and the coupling coordination increased significantly;The proportion of cities with moderate production-ecological imbalance decreased from 57.69% to 4.8%, and the proportion of cities with basic coordination increased from 19.23% to 88.46%; the proportion of cities with severe and moderately unbalanced life-ecological coupling ranges from existence to none;the proportion of moderate coordinated cities increased from 0 to 88.46%, and Shanghai increased to highly coordinated cities;The coupling coordination degree of production, living and ecological functions gradually increased. The spatial distribution pattern showed that the eastern and southeastern regions were the main high-value regions, and the coastal regions were better than the inland regions. (3) Factors such as total power of agricultural machinery per land, investment in fixed assets per land, per capita disposable income of urban residents, grassland area, green coverage rate and other factors have contributed to the coordinated development of the "production-living-ecological "functions in the study area,having a huge driving force, and the per capita disposable income of rural residents has restricted the function of production-living-ecological coupling and coordination. Spatial-temporal differentiation of carbon efficiency and coupling coordination degree of Chinese county territory and obstacles analysis

Carbon efficiency (CE) and coordination of productive-living-ecological (PLE) functions are two criteria often used to assess low-carbon and sustainable development status. Previous research lacked attention on county level in PLE perspective. The study established carbon efficiency evaluation index system from PLE dimensions used grey correlation analysis to calculate carbon efficiency index (CEI) and coupling coordination degree (CCD) of 4 typical counties: Changxing, Qingcheng, Jintang and Wu'an. The study proposed an obstacle classification to screen out not only obstacles led to CE decrease, but also potential ones caused sensitive changes of CE. The results showed that: 4 counties all stayed in bad condition of CE. CEI and CCD of Qingcheng was highest followed by Jintang, Wu'an, and Changxing was lowest. From 2012, CEI and CCD of Changxing began to decline with fluctuation. The other three had rising tendency with different gradients. PLE efficiencies were all unbalanced with characteristic that productive efficiency was low while high in living efficiency or ecological efficiency correspondingly. Indicators represented development level and construction situation, like urbanization rate, growth rate of GDP and road density also played role of obstacles in study counties. Water consumption, SO2 emission reduction and sewage processing had obvious effect on CE changes.

This study constructs the index system of eco-environment and high-quality development. The coupling coordination degree model, spatial Markov chain, BP neural network, and geographically weighted regression model (GWR) combination model are employed to systematically discuss the spatial-temporal differentiation characteristics, spatiotemporal evolution trend and driving mechanism of coupling coordination between ecological environment and high-quality development in Fujian Province during 2005-2020. The results show that:The results show that:(1) During the investigation period, the average value of eco-environment index was around 0.35 in Fujian Province. The county eco-environment quality was relatively stable, which appeared in a spatial distribution pattern of low coastal and high inland. The county-level units with the high level of the eco-environment index were centered in the Nanping-Sanming-Longyan urban-town convergence axis. While the high-quality development tended to rise after an initial decline, which presented a spatial distribution pattern of high coastal and low inland. Fuzhou and Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou metropolitan areas were the engines of regional development in Fujian Province, and the high-quality development level tended to gather at a high stage. However, the spatial combination of the eco-environment and the high-quality development index showed a dislocation characteristic. (2) The coupling relationship between the county-level eco-environment and high-quality development tended to increase after an initial decrease in Fujian Province and showed obviously spatial heterogeneity. The coordinated development of neighborhood coupling relationship could enhance the trend of regional spatial collaborative evolution, indicating that the rise of its own ecological environment or high-quality development level would radiate and drive the rise of the surrounding county ecological environment and high-quality development level. Conversely, the unbalanced development of neighborhood coupling relationship could enhance the role of spatial constraints, indicating that the low degree of county coupling coordination would affect the improvement of ecological environment quality or high-quality development level of surrounding counties. (3) Different dimensions of high-quality development have positive effects on the eco-environment. The key factors which drive to ameliorate eco-environment quality are coordinated development and green development, and its influence degree is characterized by a circle-type spatial distribution. In this connection, promoting the coordinated development of high-quality development and eco-environment is conducive to promoting the coupling and coordination of regional ecological environment and high-quality development. Coordinated relationship between urbanization and grain production in China: Degree measurement, spatial differentiation and its factors detection

The entropy method was used to measure urbanization, and applied the coupled coordination degree model (CCDM) to calculate the coupled coordination degree of urbanization and grain production (CCDUG) of 330 cities at the prefecture-level and above from 2000 to 2018 in China, the exploratory spatial data analysis method (ESDA) is used to reveal their spatial-temporal differentiation, and the geographical detector (GeoDetector) is used to identify the dominant factors and their interaction affecting this spatial differentiation. Although the CCDUG has entered a high coordination interval, there is still much room for improvement. The spatial differentiation and agglomeration characteristics of CCDUG are significant, showing a "center-periphery" distribution pattern with the east as the center gradually decreases towards the west. The CCDUG with high-high cluster is mainly distributed in the main grain-producing areas of Northeast Plain and North China Plain. Low-low cluster is primarily distributed in the grain balance and main marketing areas of Northwest, Southwest, and South China coast. Elevation, urban-rural income gap, opening to the outside world, economic growth, and cropland resources per capita are the dominant factors affecting the spatial differentiation of CCDUG. The interaction between factors will enhance this spatial differentiation, among which the interaction between basic endowment conditions and socio-economic factors is the strongest. Understanding and portraying the interactive relationship between urbanization and grain production and its spatial laws have important theoretical references for achieving balanced coordination between high-quality economic-social transformation and food security.

Spatial-temporal differentiation and its influencing factors of agricultural eco-efficiency in China based on geographic detector.

Exploring the spatial-temporal variations of agricultural eco-efficiency (AEE) and its driving factors is of vital importance to achieve high-quality agro-ecological development in China. In this study, we used the super efficiency slack-based measure (SBM) model to measure the inter-provincial AEE based on the relevant panel data of 30 provinces/regions/cities in China from 2000 to 2018. Based on the time series analysis, spatial visualization, and trend surface analysis, the geographical detector model was further used to identify the core factors driving the spatial-temporal variations of AEE. The results showed that China's AEE level maintained stable upward progress from 2000 to 2018, which was still at a low level with much room for improvement. The AEE in China exhibited a significant spatial-temporal variation, presenting higher levels in the eastern and western parts but lower in the central part. The spatial variation of AEE was influenced by many factors, including agricultural resource endowment, socioeconomic condition, and the natural ecological environment. There were obvious variations in the influence factors on the spatial-temporal variation of AEE. The interactions among factors would enhance the spatial variation of AEE. Therefore, due to the spatial-temporal variation of AEE, emphasis should be placed on its core driving factors as well as the inter-parts agricultural cooperation in order to achieve high-quality agro-ecological development in China.

Air Quality and the Spatial-Temporal Differentiation of Mechanisms Underlying Chinese Urban Human Settlements

Urban air has its typical structural characteristics. With the continuous optimization of urban human settlement indicators, the key issue and single system of “air quality” in urban human settlements needs to be further discussed. Based on air conditions, this paper attempts to visually measure the spatial-temporal distribution of human settlements in 283 prefecture-level cities in China using ArcGIS and Matlab and tries to reveal the influencing mechanisms: (1) There is no significant difference between the average of the comprehensive score of human settlements in 6 years. The overall level of those in all cities decreases from 0.6581 to 0.6004 year by year, and the average level order in the seven regions of China is Southern China (0.7310) > Southwest China (0.6608) > East China (0.6515) > Northeast China (0.6496) > Northwest China (0.6049)> Central China (0.5901) > North China (0.5565). (2) The global Moran’s I index of China’s human settlements is between 0.3750–0.7345, showing a positive spatial correlation, and the comprehensive development level has the characteristics of local spatial convergence of low-value clusters in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and high-value clusters in the south coast and Heilongjiang Province. (3) The spatial econometric model tests the influencing mechanism. There is a significant spatial positive correlation between science and technology investment in each city. The urbanization rate, the degree of advanced industrial structure, and the urban average elevation have a certain spatial spillover, showing a negative correlation. Science and technology investment and the degree of advanced industrial structure have the greatest impact.

Spatiotemporal Difference Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Tourism Urbanization in China's Major Tourist Cities.

Tourism is crucial for promoting industrial development and is an important driver of China’s new type of urbanization. A tourism urbanization index system was constructed in three dimensions: the tourism industry, urbanization, and the ecological environment. The spatial–temporal differentiation characteristics and influencing factors of tourism urbanization in 35 major tourist cities in China from 2009 to 2018 were analyzed using the state space method, standard deviation ellipse, and spatial autocorrelation analysis. The results show the following. (1) Over time, the tourism industry index displays an upward trend, the urbanization index exhibits a more obvious upward trend, and the ecological environment index fluctuates strongly. Under the influence of all three factors, the tourism urbanization index shows a fluctuating rising trend. (2) Regarding the spatial distribution pattern, the development center of tourism urbanization shifts to the southeast, and the distribution direction is northeast-southwest. There is a significant agglomeration in global spatial autocorrelation. The local spatial correlation pattern is dominated by correlation characteristics and supplemented by different characteristics. (3) In terms of influencing factors, policy and regional development strategy, tourism resource endowment, economic development level, and traffic conditions are listed in descending order of influencing degree. Finally, we put forward some suggestions.

Influencing Factors of Environmental Risk Perception during the COVID-19 Epidemic in China.

The spread of COVID-19 is having a serious impact on socioeconomic development, and increased environmental risk perception (ERP). ERP provide new ideas for the orderly recovery of society. However, there have been studies that often pay attention to individual factors, and less concerned about the external environment. In fact, ERP will be affected by the external environment and individual factors. We used a Python script to collect 65,277 valid Weibo comments during the COVID-19 epidemic in China to assess urban residents’ environmental risk perception (ERP). SnowNLP emotion analysis was used to measure the ERP of 366 urban in China, and the structural proportion characteristics and spatial-temporal differentiation of ERP were analyzed. Then, an order logistic regression model was used to investigate the relationship between economic level, social security, medical facilities and ERP. The study investigated the Chinese cities have a higher ERP during the COVID-19 period, and it shows marked fluctuations. As COVID-19 spreads, the ERP shows a distribution pattern of “high in the southeast and low in the northwest” with Hu line as the boundary and “from high to low” with Wuhan as the high value center. COVID-19 serves as catalysts for ERP, the impact of COVID-19 is enhanced after socioeconomic factors are considered. The economic level effectively regulates ERP, except the stage of accelerating diffusion. ERP is effectively stabilized by social security and medical facilities. After considering all the variables simultaneously, we found that the mitigation effect of social security and medical facilities on ERP has improved.

Urban transition in China: Examining the coordination between urbanization and the eco-environment using a multi-model evaluation method

The coupling between urbanization and the eco-environment plays an important role in advancing China’s urbanization. This study applies systems theory to build a set of indicators for urbanization and the eco-environment and uses the entropy method to determine the weights of the indicators. Furthermore, a coupling coordination degree model, spatial autocorrelation method and decoupling model are used to comprehensively analyse the spatial–temporal differentiation in the coupling coordination between urbanization and the eco-environment in China from 2001 to 2016. The results indicate that during the study period, the level of urbanization in eastern China was higher than that in other regions, while the western region reached the highest eco-environment level. Generally, the eco-environment index of each province was greater than the urbanization index. The degree of coupling between urbanization and the eco-environment exhibited a reversed U-shape trend, while the degree of coordination exhibited a slow upward trend. The eastern region demonstrated a significantly higher degree than the middle and western regions. The coupling coordination degree exhibited evident spatial autocorrelation along with a trend of increasing and then decreasing. The cold and hot spots of spatial clustering revealed a spatial evolution and migration trend, albeit to a limited extent. From 2001 to 2016, most regions of China evolved towards a strong decoupling state between urbanization and the eco-environment.

Spatial-temporal differentiation of mountain-water-forest-farmland-lake-grass system in Qinghai area of the Qilian Mountain National Park, China

Higher and more precise requirements are critically needed for the protection, regulation, and restoration of ecological environment in the Qilian Mountain National Park after it is classified as a national park system pilot in China. Based on remote sensing data in 1980-2018, the spatial pattern map of mountain-water-forest-farmland-lake-grass system was constructed to analyze its spatial-temporal variations in the general control area and core conservation area in Qinghai area of the Qilian Mountain National Park. The results showed that grasslands, with an area of 8174.93 km2, were the main landscape in the park, and that grassland area in the core conservation area was 1.2 times as that of the general control area. The bare exposed rocks, a major type of unused land, accounted for 86.7% and 79.4% of the unused land in the core conservation area and the general control area, respectively. Forest area in the general control area was larger than that in the core conservation area. Water area in the core conservation area was 4.9 times as large as that in the general control area, with 90.4% of which being dominated by permanent glaciers and snowfields. The drylands were mainly concentrated in the general control area. From 1980 to 2018, the water area was decreasing and had been reduced by 186.75 km2. The area of permanent glaciers and snowfields decreased the most, with a drop of 12.05 and 175.88 km2 in the general control area and the core conservation area, respectively. The area of forests and grasslands were enlarged constantly. The changes of high-, medium-, and low-coverage grasslands in the core conservation area were greater than that in the general control area, which were the most significant during 1990-2000. Moreover, the degradation of high- and medium-coverage grasslands in the general control area as well as high- and low-coverage grasslands in the core conservation area was observed from 1980 to 2018. The area of bare exposed rocks was on the rise, while the permanent glaciers and snowfields displayed a decreasing trend. The permanent glaciers and snowfields and the bare exposed rocks exhibited the most obvious changes in the park. The glaciers in the core conservation area retreated remarkably faster than those in the general control area, which were transformed into the bare exposed rocks mainly in 1980-1990 and 2000-2010.

PECULIARITIES OF FORMATION OF THE LOWER CRETACEOUS TEСTONO-SEDIMENTATION SYSTEM OF THE BLACK SEA MEGADEPRESSION

Based on the analysis of the distribution of structural-material complexes, facial-genetic types and modeling of the history of immersion of the Lower Cretaceous sediments, the spatial-temporal differentiation of the tectonic regime of the Black Sea megadepression in the Early Cretaceous was established. It is shown that the structural and lithologicalfacial features of the Lower Cretaceous tectonic-sedimentation system were determined by the interaction of tectonic and geological-paleooceanographic factors. Thus, the low sea level and the initial phases of activation of sublatitudinal faults in the Hoterivian-Aptian determined the dominant influence of submeridional tectonic faults on the formation of the corresponding structural-facial block zonation. The increase in the area of the basin, the removal of denudation areas in the Late Albian reduced the intensity of terrigenous discharge, and the prolonged activity of sublatitudinal faults led to the formation of sublatitudinal structural-facial zonation. In the subsequent geological history, the tectonic regime was characterized by a complex mosaic-block character, which influenced the heterogeneity of oil and gas lithofluid systems of Cretaceous deposits.

Spatial–Temporal Heterogeneity and the Related Influencing Factors of Tourism Efficiency in China

Tourism efficiency is an effective index of measuring the development quality of the tourism industry. In this study, the tourism efficiency of 30 provinces in China during the period from 2006 to 2018 was measured with the SBM model and Malmquist index. On the basis of ESDA and GWR models, we explored the spatial pattern of China’s tourism efficiency and the spatial heterogeneity of the influencing factors in depth. The results revealed that China’s tourism efficiency has been constantly enhanced with an increasingly balanced pattern. Meanwhile, the utilization degrees of various input factors have constantly been improving. Both technological efficiency and technological progress jointly promote rapid growth of total-factor productivity. Accompanied with constant enhancement of the spatial agglomeration effect, the local spatial pattern also showed obvious differentiation. In general, low-efficiency regions were mainly concentrated in northern China, while high-efficiency regions were concentrated in southern China. The distinct spatial–temporal differentiation characteristics of tourist economic efficiency can be attributed to different influencing strengths of various factors in various regions and different action tendencies. The level of economic development, traffic conditions, the professional level of tourism, and openness degree can significantly promote tourism efficiency. Tourism resource endowment and environmental cost impose slight effects and differ in action direction, thereby inhibiting the tourism efficiency of many regions.

Spatial-temporal differentiation of the coupling coordinated development of regional energy-economy-ecology system: A case study of the Yangtze River Economic Belt

The interaction between regional energy, economy and ecology system has the characteristics of high correlation and complexity. In-depth study of the relationship between the three systems is of great significance for regional sustainable development. In this paper, DPSIR (driving forces, pressures, states, impacts and responses) theory is innovatively introduced to analyze the coupling coordination mechanism among systems. On this basis, an evaluation system for the coupling coordination development of regional energy-economy-ecology system is proposed. A coupling coordination degree (CCD) evaluation model optimized by information entropy is further constructed, and the panel data of 11 provinces along the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) from 2008 to 2017 are used for empirical analysis of this region. The results show that the development of the energy and economy systems in the YREB has strong similarities, while the evaluation values of ecology systems in the provinces mainly fluctuate or first descend then rise. The development of the ecology system is influenced by the development of energy system and economy system on the one hand, and also by regional policies on the other hand. The CCD on the time dimension is given priority to with fluctuations rise development momentum, on the spatial dimension is roughly east high and west low development pattern. And the main factors restricting the coupling coordinated development of the YREB are different in the east, central and west. The three eastern provinces all belong to the type of ecology lag, while the four provinces in the central region belong to economy lagged. The development of energy and economy systems in the four western provinces lags behind their ecology systems. In addition, this paper proposes optimal strategies for the provinces, in which the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River should reduce energy consumption per unit of GDP and accelerate the transformation from traditional economy to green economy. The downstream region should improve the ecological carrying capacity of the resources and environment, and promote the economic conversion rate of scientific and technological achievements. The research process and results show that the combination of DPSIR theory and CCD model can provide a general tool for determining the coupling coordinated effect between subsystems.

Spatial-Temporal Characteristics of Illegal Land Use and Its Driving Factors in China from 2004 to 2017.

The scientific analysis of spatial-temporal differentiation characteristics and driving factors of illegal land use is of great significance for the formulation and optimization of policies to control the emergence of illegal land use. This paper establishes two variable systems of illegal land use and its driving factors, defined the multidimensional characteristic variables of illegal land use and analyzes the relationships among them by the Pearson’s correlation coefficient; In addition, the spatial–temporal characteristics of each variable of illegal land use from 2004 to 2017 are described by the spatial autocorrelation analysis; Finally, based on the geographical detectors, the influence direction and degree of the factors of economic structure, social structure and land market behavior on the characteristics of different illegal land use are studied. The results show that the spatial agglomeration of different characteristics of illegal land use had been weakening from 2004 to 2017, but the rate of weakening was different, and L-L agglomeration changed between Xinjiang and other central-western provinces, H-H agglomeration changed in the coastal regions of the central-eastern of China, the level and ability of the central government and local governments to govern illegal land use is constantly improving on the whole; the compositional factors of economic development structure, social development structure, and land market behavior of driving factors had different influence in the degree, the location or the direction of different characteristics of illegal land use. According to the spatial–temporal characteristics and the differences of driving factors, managers can formulate differentiated illegal land use control policies, which will help to control the occurrence of illegal land use and help the settlement of illegal land use cases, and ultimately achieve sustainable development.

Research on Sustainable Development Ability and Spatial-Temporal Differentiation of Urban Human Settlements in China and Japan Based on SDGs, Taking Dalian and Kobe as Examples

The sustainable development of the human settlements (HS) has become a global universal program. The comparison of cities in different countries is of great significance to provide international experience for future urban construction. Combined with the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this paper establishes an evaluation index system for the sustainable development ability of urban HS and constructs a three-dimensional research framework of “development-coordination-sustainability,” which compares the sustainable development ability of the HS of Dalian, China, and Kobe, Japan, from 2005 to 2018 and explores the spatial evolution characteristics and obstacle factors of the HS of the two cities. The results show that (1) the development degree of the HS of the two cities is on the rise. The development level of Kobe is always higher than that of Dalian, and the gap is gradually narrowing; Kobe has advantages in natural and residential environment, while Dalian has advantages in cultural and economic environment. (2) The coordination degree of the development of the HS of the two cities has improved steadily, and the coordination degree of Kobe is better than that of Dalian. (3) The sustainability of the development of the HS of the two cities is fluctuating, and the average sustainable growth rate of Dalian is higher than that of Kobe. (4) The sustainable development space of the HS in Dalian presents a pattern of “high in the south and low in the north,” and the spatial characteristics of the subsystems are different; the main obstacles have changed from economic-natural to economic-natural-cultural-public services, and the obstacles to development in districts are different. (5) The sustainable development space of the HS in Kobe has a high level of development in the southeast, radiating to the surrounding area, and the spatial characteristics of the subsystems are different; the main obstacles have changed from economic-cultural-natural to economic-natural-population, and the obstacles to development in districts are different. Finally, it puts forward targeted suggestions for the sustainable construction of Dalian. This paper can provide methodological reference for quantitative assessment of the sustainable development of HS and provide policy reference for scientific planning of the construction of HS.

Spatio-temporal Differentiation and Driving Factors of Industrial Ecology of Restricted Development Zone from Adaptive Perspective: A Case Study of Shandong, China

Based on the adaptive analysis paradigm, this paper constructs an evaluation index system and an evaluation model of the level of industrial ecology of a restricted development zone from the perspective of the industrial system and of the environmental system, and studies the spatial-temporal differentiation characteristics and the driving factors of the level of industrial ecology of the restricted development zone of the Shandong Province, China, by using a variety of measurement methods. The results show that: 1) In the temporal dimension, the level of industrial ecology of the research area increased from 2005 to 2017, while in the regional dimension, it was higher in the eastern coastal areas, followed by the northwestern area and the southwestern area; 2) In the spatial dimension, from 2005 to 2017 the level of industrial ecology of the research area had a clear spatial dependence, and the regional spatial agglomeration of the restricted development zones with similar industrial ecology levels become increasingly evident; 3) On the whole, the industrial ecology level in the study area had a clear spatial differentiation pattern, as it was higher in the north and in the east and lower in the south and in the west. Moreover, its evolution model changed from a ‘three-core driven model’ to a ‘spatial scattered mosaic distribution model’, and then to a ‘single-core driven model’; 4) Industrial ecology was positively correlated with economic development, foreign investment, science and technology, and negatively correlated with the government role, while industrial structure and environmental regulation failed to pass the statistical significance test.

Mining the Spatial-Temporal Characteristics of Population Flow and Material Flow Using Big Data

Population flow and material flow are the core elements of the “space of flows.” Studying the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of these two types of flows (TToF) can provide us a greater understanding of the research area. Most of the existing works related to TToF only focus on exploring the difference characteristics of one of the members of TToF in a certain time or space scale in the research area. Different from these related works, the spatial-temporal characteristics of the population flow and material flow in Taiwan Province and the spatial-temporal autocorrelation of Taiwan’s expressway network are explored by means of multimembership and layer-by-layer refinement. The research work carried out in this paper includes the following: (1) studying the differentiated characteristics of the TToF in different time units; (2) studying the spatial differences among each type of the TToF under different scales; (3) dividing both the population flow and material flow into two subtypes and then analyzing the temporal variation characteristics of the four subtypes of flows; and (4) studying the global and local spatial-temporal autocorrelation of Taiwan’s expressway network. The results show the following. (1) The spatial-temporal differentiation characteristics of the TToF are obvious in different time units and on different scales. (2) The contribution of the population flow to the TToF in flow quantities is far greater than that of the material flow. (3) The population flow and material flow are dominated by the “minority population flow” and “small-scale material flow,” respectively. (4) Meanwhile, in Taiwan’s expressway network, there is a significant spatial-temporal positive correlation mainly reflected in the spatial first-order adjacent road sections.
