Configuring Methods for Deadlock-Free Routing

This paper discusses the problem of tracking of deadlock-free routes. A brief overview of existing software tools providing this functionality is given. A complete overview of the proposed software for building routes for given SpaceWire onboard networks is presented. The paper discusses the application of different existing methods for the choosing of the best route from the list of the deadlock-free routes. A brief overview of the methods for of choosing the best route according to the provided criteria is given. A new method for choosing of the best route and its modification is proposed. Authors provide the result of the methods application and the detailed comparison.

Method of scheduling channel resources for onboard SpaceWire networks with TDMA

The article presents a new method for scheduling channel resources in SpaceWire onboard networks with support for TDMA technology. The network features based on the SpaceWire network standard and the STP-ISS transport protocol, which provides TDMA technology in the form of the «Scheduling» mechanism, were considered. This mechanism is used in networks with the goal of providing determinism, resolving conflicts and blocks when two or more devices are simultaneously trying to transmit data, occupying a limited channel resource. A comparative analysis of existing methods and algorithms for scheduling channel resources to design a schedule table was conducted. A new method of scheduling channel resources in SpaceWire onboard networks was presented and substantiated. A performance evaluation was carried out using the parameters significant for the space industry. It demonstrates the effectiveness of the developed method.

COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN SYSTEM FOR SPACECRAFT ONBOARD NETWORKS

Modern spacecraft onboard networks consist of a large number of nodes which interact with each other via a communication network. SpaceWire is a new generation technology which is being integrated into new spacecraft systems. In order to check network operation on the early stages of network design it is reasonable to perform its software simulation. The paper provides an analysis of existing simulation tools for the on-board and local area networks. We overview the main abilities of the existing software and then propose the computer-aided design (CAD) system for SpaceWire onboard networks design and simulation - SANDS. This software will solve important tasks, which spacecraft developers face with during implementation of satellites and other space vehicles. SANDS system will support the full on-board network design and simulation flow, which begins from the network topology automated generation and finishes with getting the network structure, configuration and parameters setting, simulation results and statistics.

STP-ISS Transport Protocol for SpaceWire On-Board Networks

The paper describes the development of a new transport protocol for the SpaceWire onboard networks. It starts from the overview and analysis of existing SpaceWire-oriented transport protocols. Then the paper considers the general industrial requirements for the Transport protocol, which should operate over the SpaceWire network technology. The main two chapters of the paper present the first and the second revisions of the new STP-ISS transport protocol, which has been developed in accordance with the results of the overview and technical requirements. In addition, the authors describe STP-ISS modeling process, which was very efficient for the STP ISS protocol development, testing, analysis and improvement.
