A 30 YEAR (1991-2020) RETROSPECTIVE MORTALITY REVIEW OF GIRAFFIDS (GIRAFFA SPP. AND OKAPIA JOHNSTONI) IN MANAGED CARE.

Identifying common causes of mortality in zoo giraffe (Giraffa spp.) and okapi (Okapia johnstoni) provides an opportunity to help improve welfare and population management for these endangered species. Mortality reports from 1,024 giraffe and 95 okapi in zoos were compiled from the Species 360 Zoological Information Management Software (ZIMS) utilizing the Morbidity & Mortality Analysis tool. Thirty years of mortality reports (1991-2020) were evaluated to help identify trends and evaluate the impacts, if any, of changes over time in husbandry and management practices. The most common causes of death for giraffe from 1991 to 2015 were neonatal issues (234/845, 27.7%), trauma (213/845, 25.2%), noninfectious disease (190/845, 22.5%), and infectious disease (188/845, 22.2%). In comparison, the most common causes of mortality for giraffe from 2016 to 2020, were noninfectious disease (78/179, 43.6%), trauma (39/179, 21.8%), neonatal issues (39/179, 21.8%), and infectious disease (17/179, 9.5%). The most common cause of death for okapi from 1991 to 2015 were neonatal issues (29/64, 45.3%), infectious disease (13/64, 20.3%), noninfectious disease (11/64, 17.2%), and trauma (10/64, 15.6%). In comparison, the most common cause of death for okapi from 2016 to 2020 was noninfectious disease (15/31, 48.4%), neonatal issues (8/31, 25.8%), and infectious disease (5/31, 16.1%). The results suggest that zoo giraffids have had a relative decrease in mortality from infectious diseases in recent years, whereas death from noninfectious causes has increased significantly. Trauma-related giraffe mortalities and neonatal mortality in both giraffe and okapi, although decreasing in prevalence between time periods, continue to be important causes of death in zoos. This is the first descriptive mortality review for the Giraffidae family and provides data on potential giraffe and okapi health issues that zoos could proactively address.

Design and implementation of grid tied high step-up DC-DC converter with switched capacitor

In this paper, the design and implementation of a three-phase grid-connected inverter coupled with a high step-up DC-DC converter with a switched capacitor is demonstrated. In this converter two capacitors are utilized with a coupled inductor. The charging of capacitors takes place parallel and discharging in series during switch off and switch on time respectively. The energization of the coupled inductor provides the high voltage gain. The passive clamp circuit is used to recycle the leakage energy of the inductor circuit. Therefore, the switch stress is reduced. This high gain converter is given DC input of 40 V and a high voltage 538 V obtained is supplied to the grid connected inverter which uses sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM), to obtain 3phase line-neutral voltage of 415 V from inverter for grid synchronization. A high voltage gain of 13 and efficiency of 96% is obtained for different load and voltage variation. The modeling and the simulation are done using physical security information management (PSIM) software and all the results are presented in this paper.

Safety and Efficacy of Bone Marrow and Adipose Tissue-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells for the Treatment of Ischemic Stroke: A Systematic Review.

Neurological diseases, including ischemic stroke, are considered a big challenge for public health due to their high prevalence and lack of definitive and effective treatments. Addressing these issues requires innovative therapeutic approaches and among the limited methods available, stem cells have shown promise in improving central nervous system repair by enhancing myelin regeneration and neuronal recovery. To advance this field of research, this systematic review aims to assess the safety and effectiveness of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from both bone marrow and adipose tissue for the treatment of ischemic stroke. This study conducted a systematic review in the electronic databases PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar to assess the efficacy and safety of MSCs generated from bone marrow and adipose tissue for the treatment of ischemic stroke. It was extracted without a time limit until April 2023. The studies were then transferred to the information management program (EndNote) and duplicates were eliminated. The remaining studies were then examined using the entry and exit criteria and the 3 stages of primary, secondary, and qualitative evaluation, and finally, the results of the final studies were extracted. According to the initial search in the desired databases, 1028 possible related articles were identified and transferred to the information management software (EndNote). After removing 390 duplicate studies, 608 studies were excluded based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Finally, 37 final studies were included in the systematic review process. Based on the investigations, it was evident that the administration of MSCs derived from both bone marrow and adipose tissue holds significant promise as an effective and safe treatment approach for ischemic stroke. The results consistently showed acceptable outcomes in the studies and this evidence can be recommended for the clinical application of this treatment. Also, the findings of this study report that the use of adipose tissue and bone marrow MSCs in the treatment of ischemic stroke can be used as a practical method.

Impact of the Lightwave Health Information Management Software on the Dimensions of Quality of Healthcare Data.

The use of technology in healthcare to manage patient records, guide diagnosis, and make referrals is termed electronic healthcare. An electronic health record system called Lightwave Health Information Management System (LHIMS) was implemented in 2018 at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH). This study evaluated the impact of LHIMS on the quality of healthcare data at CCTH, focusing on the extent to which its use has enhanced the main dimensions of data quality. Structured questionnaires were administered to doctors at CCTH to enquire about their opinions about the present state of LHIMS as measured against the parameters of interest in this study, mainly the dimensions of quality healthcare data and the specific issues plaguing the system as reported by respondents. Most doctors found LHIMS convenient to use, mainly because it made access to patient records easier and had to some extent improved the dimensions of quality healthcare data, except for comprehensiveness, at CCTH. Major challenges that impeded the smooth running of the system were erratic power supply, inadequate logistics and technological drive, and poor internet connectivity. LHIMS must be upgraded to include more decision support systems and additional add-ons such as patients' radiological reports, and laboratory results must be readily available on LHIMS to make patient health data more comprehensive.

Influence of Working Capital Management on Performance of Commercial Banks in Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya

Effective financial management plays an important role in ensuring the financial health of a company and directly affects its profitability. Its primary objective is to consolidate the company's assets and meet current financial obligations to optimize future operating expenses. This particular study focuses on Kenya and aims to examine the role of monetary policy in monetary policy conditions across Trans Nzoia County. The specific objectives of this study were to examine the impact of financial planning on commercial banking activities in the county and to assess the impact of management accounting on banking activities under Nazism. This study draws on entrepreneurship theory and agency theory by using a descriptive research model to analyze real-world relational situations. These researchers collected data through questionnaires using census methods and selected a sample of 115 people using simple random sampling. The content validity of the questionnaire was determined by the researcher. Regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationship between dependent variables and working capital management. Based on these findings, the study concludes that effective working capital management has a positive impact on the performance of commercial in Trans Nzoia County. In particular, financial planning, invoice management, and inventory management are expected to contribute effectively to the performance of commercial banks in the region. Recommendations from this study include the adoption of a centralized billing system that enables relationship managers to provide better recommendation services by analyzing customer behavior in depth. In addition, this study suggests that bank managers should invest in state-of-the-art information management software that provides real-time analytics. The survey analysis was based on a response rate of 82.6% and the survey instrument demonstrated acceptable reliability. Demographic data showed that the majority of study participants were male, aged 26 to 30 years and older, usually married, with more than three years of banking experience, higher education and in a bank early in their career. The study, conducted in one of Kenya’s 47 counties, acknowledges these shortcomings. Therefore, the researchers recommend a comprehensive study taking into account other factors affecting bank performance. Furthermore, the study showed that the observed variables explain only 46.1% of the factors affecting banking activities in the entire Trans Nzoia County. This suggests that further research is needed to include other variables. In summary, this study highlights the importance of sound financial management for the success of commercial banks in the region and provides an important basis for research in a broader context.

Implementing asset information requirement templates for corporate real estate management: A study in the chemical industry

Research on building information modelling (BIM) for corporate real estate management (CREM) in the chemical industry remains limited. This is largely due to a lack of documents supporting BIM adoption and implementation. The present study identifies, compares, and applies different approaches to the definition of asset information requirements (AIR) templates for facility services in the chemical industry. It subsequently translates the results into recommendations for AIR template implementation and formalises them into implementation steps. The results indicate that process diagrams are an expedient approach to the definition of AIR templates. Recommendations for their implementation concern information management software, static data prioritisation, accuracy limitations, asset types and sub-types, and stakeholder involvement. The present study contributes to the body of knowledge by identifying an expedient approach to the definition of AIR templates, providing AIR for four BIM Uses, and proposing an AIR template implementation framework for CREM in the chemical industry.

Summary. The objectives of the study are to analyze international scientific experience in the application of mobile information and communication technologies to improve the effectiveness of first aid provision and first aid training; to identify the main directions of scientific research and gaps in the existing scientific knowledge on these issues. Materials and research methods. In the bibliographic databases PubMed and Scopus the search of English-language scientific articles was performed, in the Google Scholar database — Russian-language scientific articles on the topic of the study, published in the period from 2003 to 2022 inclusive, were searched. Additionally, we searched for works in the article lists of sources of the found publications. The bibliographic information management software Zotero version 6.0.18 (Corporation for Digital Scholarship, USA) was used to collect, save and systematize the search results and remove duplicates. The selected studies were subjected to descriptive thematic analysis. Results of the study and their analysis. The leading directions of scientific research in the area were identified, and it was found that, with a significant thematic and methodological heterogeneity of works and ambiguity of the results obtained, the accumulated scientific data in general indicate a high prospect of using mobile technologies in the field of improving training in the provision and delivery of first aid. It is noted that at present the researches are mainly focused on: creation of systems for remote operational notification and accompaniment to the place of event of volunteers, pre-trained in first aid provision and included in the corresponding programs by means of crowdsourcing; development of mobile tools for assessment and maintenance of quality of first aid rendering and multimedia instructions on provision of first aid in real time, as well as on development of mobile technologies for training in rendering first aid. The performed studies are mainly aimed at improving the effectiveness of first aid delivery in cardiac arrest, and there are few works devoted to the development of mobile tools for improving first aid training or first aid delivery in other conditions.

The global prevalence of myocardial infarction: a systematic review and meta-analysis

BackgroundMyocardial infarction (MI) is one of the life-threatening coronary-associated pathologies characterized by sudden cardiac death. The provision of complete insight into MI complications along with designing a preventive program against MI seems necessary.MethodsVarious databases (PubMed, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Embase, and Google scholar search engine) were hired for comprehensive searching. The keywords of “Prevalence”, “Outbreak”, “Burden”, “Myocardial Infarction”, “Myocardial Infarct”, and “Heart Attack” were hired with no time/language restrictions. Collected data were imported into the information management software (EndNote v.8x). Also, citations of all relevant articles were screened manually. The search was updated on 2022.9.13 prior to the publication.ResultsTwenty-two eligible studies with a sample size of 2,982,6717 individuals (< 60 years) were included for data analysis. The global prevalence of MI in individuals < 60 years was found 3.8%. Also, following the assessment of 20 eligible investigations with a sample size of 5,071,185 individuals (> 60 years), this value was detected at 9.5%.ConclusionDue to the accelerated rate of MI prevalence in older ages, precise attention by patients regarding the complications of MI seems critical. Thus, determination of preventive planning along with the application of safe treatment methods is critical.

Information management role in logistics operations

Goal: Information management frameworks, models, and software’s have the capacity to enhance the competitiveness of logistics operations by maximizing information management. The study objectively examined information management role in logistics operations in medical supply stores. Methodology: The methodology utilized in this review includes; quantitative philosophy such as smart partial least square(PLS).An aggregate of five hundred and twenty-eight (528) questionnaires were duly completed of the six hundred and fifty-nine (659) administered to various participants. Results: The Findings based on the statistical outcome shows that maximal product tracking, optimal information transfer, expanded echelons, prompt distribution, and delivery are the indicating roles of information management in logistics operations. It is suggested that medical supply stores utilize information management models, frameworks, and software to aid effective distribution and flow in logistics operations echelons. Limitations: The limitations to this study is the coverage of post-utilization stage by comparing the expected outcome to the actual outcome after enhancing the information management procedures. Originality: The study demonstrates its novelty and pertinency by introducing a framework fixated on a comprehensive methodology, as it gives a viewpoint of information management in logistics operations. Thus, information management frameworks in logistics operations are optimized and analysed from the source to the destination. Finally, the development of medical supply stores and their capacity to survive depends on the proficiency of information management.

The global prevalence of primary central nervous system tumors: a systematic review and meta-analysis

BackgroundPrimary central nervous system (CNS) tumors are a heterogeneous group of neoplasms, including benign and malignant tumors. Since there are many heterogeneities in the prevalence reported in previous studies on this type of tumor, this study was performed to determine the overall prevalence of different primary CNS tumors.MethodThe study was conducted as a systematic review and meta-analysis by searching international databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, Web of science, and the Google Scholar search engine until August 2020. After transferring the studies to information management software (EndNote) and eliminating duplicate studies, the remaining studies were reviewed based on inclusion and exclusion criteria according to three stages of primary and secondary evaluation and qualitative evaluation. Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software, Begg, Mazumdar, and I2 tests were used for data analysis, publication bias analysis, and heterogeneity analysis, respectively.ResultsAfter performing the systematic review steps, 80 studies were included for final analysis. Based on 8 studies, the prevalence of brain tumors was 70.9%. Also, studies on 7 other studies showed that the prevalence of spinal tumors was 12.2%. A review of 14 studies showed that the prevalence of neuroepithelial tumors was 34.7%. The analysis of 27 studies reported a prevalence of glioma tumors of 42.8%. Analyses performed on other studies showed that the prevalence of pituitary adenomas was 12.2%, embryonal tumors 3.1%, ependymal tumors 3.2%, meningiomas 24.1%, glial tumors 0.8%, astrocytic 20.3%, oligodendroglial 3.9%, glioblastoma 17.7%, schwannoma 6.7%, medulloblastoma 7.7% and Polycystic astrocytomas 3.8%.ConclusionAs a result, it can be stated that brain tumors are the most common type of primary CNS tumors. It was also observed that tumors involving neuroepithelial cells are more common in patients than other types of tumors.

A new approach of variable step-size maximum power point tracking algorithm used in photovoltaic systems

To exploit the maximum power generated by the photovoltaic (PV) panel, it is necessary to use the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller. The main concern of MPPT algorithms is how to reach the maximum power point (MPP) quickly with less oscillation. To achieve this objective, this paper studies and compares the performance of different MPPT algorithms with a new proposed criterion of variable step size in terms of convergence speed towards the MPP and reduced oscillations around it. The proposed method utilizes a simple way to build multi-operating zones. In each field, the step size depends on the closeness to the MPP. The simulation results are obtained under Proteus and Arduino software; we use physical security information management (PSIM) software for the modeling of the PV panel and MATLAB software to display the comparative results between the different algorithms.

Support programmes for parents of children with intellectual disabilities: a scoping review protocol.

IntroductionEvidence shows that parents of children with intellectual disabilities experience high levels of stress, emotional challenges and higher levels of depression. Despite these challenges, support for parents has tended to be peripheral in healthcare services of children. There is a lack of research attention given to support programmes for parents of children with intellectual disabilities despite the importance of parenting for the optimal development of children with intellectual disabilities.Methods and analysisThis review will follow the Joanna Briggs Institute scoping review methods manual. The search for relevant studies will be in Medline (EbscoHost), PsychARTICLES, PubMed, CINHAL, Academic Search Complete and SAePublications. Reference mining of full review studies will be conducted. A three-step search strategy will be used, including the use of information management software to manage the search results and to remove duplications. An independent reviewer will extract data using a data extraction tool. Furthermore, another reviewer will screen the included articles in conjunction with the results of the scoping review. The data extracted will be presented in a tabular format with a narrative summary related to the key findings.Ethics and disseminationThis scoping review has received ethical approval (BM20/4/26). A summary of the findings of the study will be published in a peer-reviewed journal. This scoping review will contribute to a better understanding of the support programmes available to parents of children with intellectual disabilities. Novel Method for Safeguarding Personal Health Record in Cloud Connection Using Deep Learning Models.

It is a new online service paradigm that allows consumers to exchange their health data. Health information management software allows individuals to control and share their health data with other users and healthcare experts. Patient health records (PHR) may be intelligently examined to predict patient criticality in healthcare systems. Unauthorized access, privacy, security, key management, and increased keyword query search time all occur when personal health records (PHR) are moved to a third-party semitrusted server. This paper presents security measures for cloud-based personal health records (PHR). The cost of keeping health records on a hospital server grows. This is particularly true in healthcare. As a consequence, keeping PHRs in the cloud helps healthcare institutions save money on infrastructure. The proposed security solutions include an optimized rule-based fuzzy inference system (ORFIS) to determine the patient's criticality. Patients are classified into three groups (sometimes known as protective rings) based on their severity: very critical, less critical, and normal. In trials using the UCI machine learning archive, the new ORFIS outperformed existing fuzzy inference approaches in detecting the criticality of PHR. Using a graph-based access policy and anonymous authentication with a NoSQL database in a private cloud environment improves data storage and retrieval efficiency, granularity of data access, and response time.

Under normal and abnormal operating conditions, a comparison of these three examined improvements was made. Global prevalence of hepatitis C in prisoners: a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV), one of the most significant causes of liver inflammation, has a high annual mortality rate. The unfavorable hygiene conditions and inadequate health monitoring in many prisons increase the risk of blood-borne infections such as hepatitis C. The growing incidence of this disease among prisoners results in overspill transmission to the general population from undiagnosed prisoners that have been released. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of hepatitis C among the world's prison population. A systematic review and meta-analysis of studies on the prevalence of hepatitis C was carried out using the keywords "Prevalence", "Hepatitis C", and "Prisoner" in the Iranian and international databases SID, MagIran, Iran Doc, Science Direct, Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science (WoS) from January 1990 to September 2020. After transferring the articles to the information management software EndNote and eliminating duplicate studies, the remaining studies were reviewed based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, three stages of primary and secondary evaluation, and qualitative evaluation. Comprehensive meta-analysis software and Begg and Mazumdar and I2 tests were used for data analysis and assessment of dissemination bias, and heterogeneity, respectively. Out of 93 studies (22 from Asia, 26 from Europe, seven from Africa, 29 from America, and nine from Australia) with a total sample size of 145,823 subjects, the prevalence of hepatitis C in prisoners worldwide was estimated to be 17.7% (95% confidence interval, 15-20.7%). The highest prevalence of hepatitis C on the continents included in this study was reported in prisoners incarcerated in Australia and Oceania, with 28.4% (95% CI: 21.6-36.4) in nine studies, and Europe, with 25.1% (95% CI: 19.4-31.8) in 26 studies. All studies used an ELISA test for the detection of HCV antibodies. The results showed a prevalence of HCV of 17.7% in prisoners worldwide, ranging between 10 and 30% over five continents (Asia, Europe, America, Africa, and Australia and Oceania). The highest prevalence was reported in Australia and Oceania (28.4%), indicating the need to pay more attention to this issue on the continent. It is necessary to reduce the incidence of the disease in prisons by appropriate policy-making and the development of accurate and practical programs, including the distribution of free syringes and examination, testing, and screening of prisoners.

Design of energy-saving greenhouse automatic irrigation system

In view of the urgent need of the greenhouse irrigation, a Energy-saving greenhouse automatic irrigation system is designed. The system is powered by solar energy and controlled by Single Chip Microcomputer. Multi-point humidity sensor is used to detect soil humidity. An intuitive system management platform is also provided to complete data processing. The information management software was developed for real-time monitoring and remote alarm monitoring. The experiment show that the system can realize the automatic irrigation function, when the soil humidity decreases to the lower threshold of soil humidity, the system starts to work, and when the irrigation reaches the upper threshold, the system can stop irrigation within 10min. The system is easy to operate and stable operation. It also has certain value of application. The development and use of this system can offer experience and technical support to the establishment of intelligent irrigation systems.

Nursing informatics competencies in critical care unit.

Nurses need professional competencies for safe and effective care. In this regard, nursing informatics competence is a significant need for intensive care unit nurses. In this study, the Delphi method was used during four rounds. The participants included 30 panelists selected by purposive sampling method. The data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis and descriptive statistics. During the rounds, the items were evaluated for importance, necessity, relevancy, and percentage of agreement. The findings of nursing informatics competencies in the intensive care units (ICU) were classified in three categories including basic computer skills (7 subcategories and 20 items), skills to use information management software (2 subcategories and 9 items), and specific nursing informatics skills (2 subcategories and 22 items). In order for nurses to perform successfully in ICU, they must meet some abilities such as computer skills, available software management, nursing information systems familiarity, nursing databases, web search methods, and English proficiency.
