Abstract. Purpose of the study – to identify factors that enhance the motivation of women in the first period of mature age to engage in strength-oriented fitness activities. Material and methods of the study. The research was conducted in Vinnytsia at the Fitness Time fitness club. A total of 44 women aged 25-35 years, who had been engaged in fitness training for 3 to 6 months, participated in the study. They were divided into two equal groups. For 5 months, women from both the control and experimental groups attended group strength-oriented fitness programs three times a week. The difference was that the experimental group was exposed to specially developed motivational enhancement methods. Methods: analysis of scientific and methodological literature, sociological research methods such as questionnaires and testing. Results. The results of the study showed that among the health-related motives of women, the leading factors were: development of physical qualities – 66.1 %, improvement of functional capabilities of the body – 59.7 %, enhancement of professional performance – 49.8 %, posture correction – 38.9 %, and improvement of psycho-emotional state – 64.4 %. This indicates the predominance of pragmatic and health-oriented motives in the respondents’ motivational structure. Moreover, women in the experimental group demonstrated significantly higher levels of self-esteem (54 %), need for self-realization (41.5 %), satisfaction from communication and leisure with like-minded individuals (40.7 %), and willingness to establish new social contacts (39.3 %) compared to participants of the control group. After the repeated administration of the “WAM” (Well-being, Activity, Mood) test, it was found that the indicators of well-being, activity, and mood among the women in the experimental group ranged from 50 to 54 points, which is considered a high rating, unlike the control group, where the average score was 37 points. Conclusions. The study identified effective strategies for increasing women’s engagement in regular fitness activities, which can be implemented through active cooperation between fitness instructors and methodologists. The results expand the scientific understanding of motivational factors influencing women in the first period of mature age to participate in strength-oriented fitness training and can be used to optimize physical and wellness programs in fitness clubs.

The map maker’s dilemma: design challenges in interactive mapping for social science and data journalism
  • Jan 6, 2026
  • Information Discovery and Delivery
  • Ladislava Zbiejczuk Suchá + 7 more

Purpose This study aims to explore the evolving role of interactive maps as an information tool in social sciences and data journalism. To understand the map maker’s perspective on the balance between producing interactive and classic map visualizations, this study investigates the challenges and decision-making processes behind the design and application of such maps. Design/methodology/approach Using methods from digital sociology and information behavior research, the authors conducted semistructured interviews with 18 participants from diverse fields related to social sciences and data journalism. The participants were selected through a combination of purposive and snowball sampling to provide a diverse perspective on creating and using interactive maps. The interviews focused on the participants’ experiences in developing interactive maps, for example, mapping technologies, data acquisition and analysis of user interaction. To identify the main categories of the challenges encountered by these professionals during the creation of interactive maps, the authors applied a thematic analysis in the study. Findings Designing interactive maps entails complex challenges across data, technology, communication and organizational domains. Data issues − including availability, quality, format inconsistencies, territorial discrepancies and confidentiality − complicate analysis and visualization. Technical obstacles like platform compatibility, scalability and maintaining up-to-date maps hinder development. Communication difficulties arise in creating intuitive interfaces, balancing aesthetics with usability and addressing limited map literacy among users. Organizational constraints such as financial limitations, interdisciplinary collaboration gaps and bureaucratic or legal obstacles further impede interactive map production. Research limitations/implications This study is based on qualitative interviews with social scientists, data journalists and map producers working with sociodemographic data. While the sample was diverse, the limited number of expert participants and use of semistructured interviews may not fully capture the range of experiences in the field. Future research should expand to larger, more diverse samples and include quantitative methods such as surveys. In addition, while the study focuses on map makers’ perspectives, it does not explore user experience or long-term map use. Further research should refine the typology of challenges by including both expert and lay users. Practical implications For practitioners in social sciences and data journalism, this study highlights the importance of balancing technical, usability and ethical considerations in interactive map design. Collaborative, interdisciplinary workflows can bridge skill gaps and enhance both accuracy and accessibility. Ongoing user feedback and iterative development are essential for identifying issues early, and organizations should invest in resources and training to sustain high-quality map projects. Social implications While interactive maps can support public understanding of complex issues, their impact is often limited by usability challenges, barriers to access and the risk of misinterpretation. The findings highlight the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to develop inclusive, accurate and sustainable maps. To fulfill their civic and educational potential, these tools must prioritize accessibility, clarity and long-term usability. Originality/value This study comprehensively examines how interactive maps are created and applied in social sciences and data journalism. It lays out a nuanced understanding of the decision-making process and highlights the complex interplay of technical, data-related and communicative factors. The findings offer valuable insight for practitioners and researchers looking to optimize the use of interactive maps in communicating sociodemographic information and advocate for a balanced approach that incorporates the diverse challenges in map creation and application.

Truth, Power, and the Body: A Sociological Analysis of Heretic (2024)
  • Dec 31, 2025
  • Medya ve Din Araştırmaları Dergisi
  • Nuriye Çelik

This article offers a sociological analysis of Heretic (2024) by examining how the film reproduces relations of truth, belief, and power in the post-truth era. Drawing on Foucault’s concepts of governmentality and truth regimes, Butler’s idea of performativity, and Baudrillard’s notion of hyperreality, the study analyzes the film’s representational strategies. Using qualitative discourse analysis and scene-based thematic coding, the findings are organized around four axes: (1) religious discourses are constructed as technologies of power; (2) truth is suspended through simulation and layers of representation; (3) the female body is governed through disciplinary and control practices; and (4) ethical resistance emerges through collective subjectivity and orientation toward the Other. The study argues that Heretic is not merely a thriller but a cultural text that exposes the fragility of truth, the politics of the body, and the possibilities of ethical subjectivation in a post-truth context. The significance of the study lies in its theoretical and analytical contribution to the fields of cinema and media sociology. Methodologically, the study employs a critical-interpretive design that combines qualitative discourse analysis, thematic coding, and scene-by-scene transcription. Codes were operationalized with clear inclusion and exclusion criteria, and analytic transparency was maintained in line with JARS-Qual standards. This approach ensures not only theoretical depth but also replicability for future research in media sociology. The findings reveal four central dynamics: (1) religious discourse operates as a technology of power that governs the subject; (2) truth is suspended through simulation and hyperreality, producing aestheticized effects of belief; (3) the female body emerges as a contested site of discipline and resistance; and (4) ethical alternatives are forged through solidarity and orientation toward the Other. Collectively, these insights demonstrate that Heretic functions as more than a thriller: it is a cultural text that exposes the fragility of truth, the politics of embodiment, and the possibilities of ethical subjectivation in the contemporary post-truth landscape.

What it means to thrive: a qualitative, interdisciplinary exploration of employees’ understandings of “thriving” at work
  • Dec 31, 2025
  • International Journal of Qualitative Studies on Health and Well-being
  • Cristen Dalessandro + 1 more

ABSTRACT Purpose Due to widespread societal changes, scholars and human resources (HR) practitioners need additional ideas and strategies to encourage employee well-being and “thriving” in the post-COVID workplace. However, academics and practitioners are typically not in conversation on this topic, which can lead to gaps between knowledge and practice. Methods Informed by an interdisciplinary approach that bridges theoretical insights from psychology, sociology, and HR practitioner-focused research, we use focus group interviews with 113 full-time employees across five U.S. cities to explore how employees define what it means to thrive at work in contemporary times. Results We find that employees’ accounts demonstrate the importance of both psychological and interactional factors in their understandings of thriving, including feeling a sense of personal well-being and opportunity at work, feeling appreciated in their interactions with coworkers and leaders, and feeling that the organization has a larger purpose and mission and that they, as employees, contribute to the organization’s purpose and success. Conclusion Given employees’ interpretations, our findings suggest concrete strategies that HR practitioners can take to help employees thrive in the workplace today.

Emigration Attitudes of Religious and Non-Religious Muscovites
  • Dec 29, 2025
  • DEMIS. Demographic Research
  • Elena Kublitskaya

To fully understand the demographic processes in contemporary Russian society and make accurate scientific predictions in the field of demographics and migration, we need to take into account a complex set of factors, including religious and ethnic-confessional ones. The aim of this study was to identify and analyze the possible influence of the religious aspect on emigration intentions among Russian citizens. We used data from surveys conducted by the IDR FCTAS RAS (2019, 2004) among Moscow residents and students. The study focused on examining the relationship between religious and nonreligious views of respondents with varying levels of emigration tendencies. This was done using a method based on constructing two typologies based on ideological (religious/secular) and migrational (settled/projective) characteristics. Sociological research was conducted through a comparative analysis of assessments and attitudes of representatives from these groups towards socio-political, economic, cultural, and ethnic-religious processes. Findings indicate that religious beliefs and secularization are important factors in analyzing the characteristics of typological groups. Religious beliefs and related traditions often coincide with “settled” groups, demonstrating structural similarities, while the “secular” group overlaps significantly with potential emigrant groups. Socio-political and economic positions, as well as value systems, of “settled groups” demonstrate a positive assessment of state policies and religious organizations, a civic stance and optimism about the future of unification around Russia and restoration of its international status. “Patriotism”, “national pride”, “social justice”, and “security” are prominent in these groups’ ideas and values that contribute to national consensus. Non-religious and projective emigrant groups share similar positions and values but are more concerned about socio-economic and political matters. They have less pride in Russian society, are skeptical about unifying around Russia, and believe in radical change to the political system. Their key values include “freedom”, “human rights”, “justice”, and creativity. Ideology and patriotism do not play a central role in their priorities. Overall, it can be concluded that a religious worldview based on traditional values contributes to social stability and reduces emigration, while a secular one promotes potential emigration through greater openness to change.

The Social Solidarity of Aging Population Under the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Case of Mugla Tazelenme University (TAU)
  • Dec 29, 2025
  • Journal of Aging and Long-Term Care
  • Muammer Tuna + 1 more

COVID-19 appeared in China in November 2019, swiftly spread worldwide, and was defined as a “Global Pandemic” by the World Health Organization in early 2020. Accordingly, the world as it was known changed considerably, and much has been redefined. The older population significantly has been negatively affected by the social and psychological impact of the pandemic, experiencing feelings of “abandonment,” “loneliness,” and of being “enclosed.” In response, older adults need social and psychological support and solidarity. Accordingly, the Mugla Tazelenme University (TAU), Türkiye established a distance education model via the Internet using social media platforms that provided “virtual social solidarity” to students aged 60 years or over (60+). Sociological field research was then conducted to evaluate the impact of this “virtual social solidarity.” According to the study’s findings, the distance education model employed by Mugla TAU provided social and psychological support and solidarity to minimize the negative impacts of the pandemic. Mugla TAU (Tazelenme University) is a voluntary, informal, non-degree third-age education model; the participation principle of the program is based upon volunteering. The model aims to provide active aging programs to 60+ age groups. The programs include mental and physical activities. Furthermore, this “virtual social solidarity” contributes to the older population’s general well-being.

Typology vs. Classification: Grounds for Distinction in the Methodology of Empirical Sociological Research
  • Dec 29, 2025
  • Vestnik instituta sotziologii
  • Anna Kuchenkova

This article examines the distinction between the terms "classification" and "typology" when applying the typological method in empirical sociological research. On the one hand, these terms share a common semantic focus, being used to identify and establish similarities and differences, as well as to dissect and group systems of objects. On the other hand, if they always conveyed the same meaning, one would eventually displace the other. Ongoing attempts to clarify and differentiate their meanings demonstrate the need to capture and reflect in scientific language the various aspects, subtleties, and nuances of applying the typological method in empirical research. This article identifies and characterises criteria that serve as a potential basis for distinguishing between the terms "typology" and "classification." Each is illustrated with examples from the theoretical and methodological literature on the relevant subject matter. The conducted analysis allows us to summarise that the distinctive features of typology are: the impossibility of direct mathematical formalisation and the presence of high explanatory potential regarding the properties of the objects under study, not used in the description and construction of the typology. The term "typology" pertains primarily to the theoretical level of cognition and is used in situations where the researcher operates with mental images as objects of grouping. It aims to uncover the latent essences underlying observed phenomena; it forms descriptions (in the form of a set of characteristics) of potentially existing groups of objects; and it is focused on finding essential differences between objects, reflecting their natural differentiation in the surrounding world. In turn, the term "classification" pertains more to the empirical level of cognition and is used when examining empirical objects amenable to direct observation, providing the ability to compress data and identify its structure as sets grouped by similarity. This term lends itself to mathematical formalisation, allowing for the assignment of mathematical constructs and the selection of appropriate mathematical algorithms. Overall, it is viewed as playing a supporting role in the process of discovering information about types at the empirical stage of research.

On the application of the visual-intuitive method in sociological research of Russian local communities
  • Dec 29, 2025
  • Vestnik instituta sotziologii
  • Kirill Podyachev

This article substantiates the application of the author's visual-intuitive research method, called "phenomenological immersion," to the study of Russian local communities. This method was developed based on the author's fieldwork practices, conducted since 2013. The theoretical basis of the method is the phenomenological sociology of A. Schütz, the concept of the "lifeworld" of J. Habermas, and the developments of visual sociology. According to A. Schütz, everyday life encompasses the maximum possible manifestations of the social. Therefore, direct observation of the everyday life/lifeworld of local communities is considered in this article as a sociological tool that will significantly complement sociological methodologies, especially in terms of studying the general and specific sociocultural characteristics of Russian regions. When identifying the sociocultural characteristics of regions and local communities within a single country (as opposed to cross-national studies), the subtle nuances of social reality are of decisive importance. These nuances can be determined precisely through studying the living environment, for which this method appears to be the most effective. It also provides opportunities for adjusting guidelines for classical qualitative research and more adequately evaluating statistical data. The author provides examples from his personal experience of fieldwork in Russian regions, demonstrating how this method can be used to formulate hypotheses, adjust data from other sources, and amend research programs and working materials. Visual sociology is a significant component of this method, but is not entirely identical to it, as the role of photography is different here. It is not an object or a research tool, but a means of conveying non-formalized data, which is why it is always combined with verbal descriptions. Moreover, unlike non-photographic visual methods, direct observation is not auxiliary but fundamental. The method has significant limitations, such as subjectivity, difficulties in communicating the obtained data, and the complexity of training researchers for the work. However, these can be overcome to some extent, primarily by using the method not in isolation, but in conjunction with other qualitative research methods.

  • Ibrahim Nasrul F

This research aims, firstly, to examine and find forms of legal protection for retired TNI officers and their families in obtaining adequate social and health insurance. Second, to examine and find weaknesses in legal protection for retired TNI military personnel and their families in obtaining their rights regarding equitable health services in light of technological developments. third, to find efforts to realize legal protection for retired TNI officers and their families in fulfilling technology-based social and health security rights. This research uses sociological juridical research methods. Primary data is the main data using interviews and field observations. The research paradigm is the constructivism or post positivism paradigm, with the approach used being sociological juridical with qualitative analysis. The legal theory used as analysis is the theory of justice asgrand theory, legal system theory asmiddle theory, and legal protection theory asapply theory. The results of this research relate to regulations regarding legal protection for social and health security for retired TNI military personnel and their families which are regulated in Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian National Army (TNI), Law no. 24 of 2011 concerning BPJS, Minister of Defense Regulation Number 15 of 2014 concerning Health Services Outside the Dependency of the Social Security Administering Agency and Minister of Defense Regulation Number 31 of 2014 concerning Integrated Health Services within the TNI. Of the four basic regulations, it can be stated that they are not yet fair and their implementation has not been able to realize justice in providing positions to retired TNI officers and their families. The factors causing the weakness of legal protection in providing social security and health services for retired TNI military personnel and their families are the existing regulatory and technological factors that do not fully cover the fulfillment of the rights that should be obtained by retired military military officers and their families. The re-construction of the applicable provisions is a form of effort to provide legal certainty based on Pancasila justice to fulfill the rights to social security and health services for retired TNI military personnel and their families.

  • V Yu Dunaev + 3 more

Today informatization and digitalization are the only viable megatrend for innovative social transformation; however, the rapid development and global spread of digital information and communication technologies (ICT) have led to complex, multifaceted problems and ambiguous consequences. Public perception of everyday life as an immediately given, self-evident, first-order reality, as it was in the recent past, has changed - in the information society, everyday life transforms into an area of strategic instability, fundamental uncertainty and unpredictability. The article outlines the features of public perception and evaluation of the impact of informatization and digitalization on the everyday life in Kazakhstan. The article is based on the data of sociological research conducted in 2024 by the BRIF Research Group at the request of the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies with the methods of mass survey (standardized interview, N=2000, sampling error - 2.19 %) and expert interviews (N=102 - managers, employees, IT specialists of government bodies, local authorities and various organizations, employees of research institutes and university professors in social, humanitarian and information technology disciplines, bloggers and journalists). The article describes the following key aspects and main directions of the influence of informatization and digitalization on the everyday life in Kazakhstan: impact of digital technologies on the Kazakhstani society and contexts of its sociological analysis; global megatrends in the development of the information society and its features in Kazakhstan; impact of digital technologies on intercultural interactions; qualitative changes in the subject of transformation of the social environment under digitalization. The study summarizes positive and negative assessments of various areas and aspects of informatization of everyday life in Kazakhstan by the public and experts.

The aim of this study is to identify the potential of neural network solutions for transforming educational models and managing career trajectories in the creative industries of Russian megacities – Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and Novosibirsk. The results of students’ sociological research and expert assessments are used as an empirical basis. The results showed that the students confidently possess theoretical knowledge in their professional field, demonstrate high motivation and a level of soft skills. At the same time, persistent defi-cits have been identified in areas such as programming for creative applications, data analysis, and working with neural network tools, as well as differences in the perception of digital competencies by students and ex-perts: employers in megacities are more likely to focus on employees’ ability to learn quickly, adaptability, and practical experience, while students, they tend to overestimate the role of academic knowledge. These gaps actualize the task of transforming the content of educational programs with an emphasis on flexible digital tracks, project activities and neural network tools for career planning.

Beyond the ‘Scholarship Boy’ paradigm: Autosociobiography and social mobility
  • Dec 24, 2025
  • European Journal of Cultural Studies
  • Sam Friedman + 2 more

This article reflects on the potential of the rapidly emerging literary genre of autosociobiography to extend analyses of the personal experience and feelings associated with social mobility. We reflect on the congruence of its themes regarding the dislocating and isolating effects of upward social mobility with important recent research in qualitative sociology, which have exposed the weakness of quantitative social scientific studies for understanding the ‘social mobility malaise’. We argue that the theme of dislocation, sometimes encapsulated in the phrase that the upwardly mobile are ‘fish out of water’, can be rooted back to a paradigm of the ‘scholarship boy’, originating in the 1950s. We discuss how autosociobiography is a vital genre because it radicalises this framing and provides more critical and provocative perspectives which are more attuned to the period of intensifying economic inequalities in the early 21st century. Drawing on Jaquet’s arguments regarding ‘transclasses’, and reflecting on numerous autosociobiographical accounts, and recent sociological contributions, our article demonstrates the interdisciplinary reach of this genre.

The Frames of Provincial Student Youth's Memory of Mass Political Repression: between Family Narratives and Digital Ecosystems
  • Dec 24, 2025
  • Russian Journal of Regional Studies
  • Olga A Bogatova

Introduction. The relevance of this study stems from the political use of difficult memories in contemporary Russian discourse and the lack of research on the memories of the centennial generation regarding mass political repression during the Soviet period. The aim is to characterize the scope of centennials' memories of repression in family history, taking into account the sources available to them, technologies for accessing information, and the interaction of family memories with the official memory regime. Materials and Methods. The empirical basis of the article is based on quantitative (online questionnaire survey of students of universities and colleges of the Republic of Mordovia, n = 700, multi-stage combined sample) and qualitative (30 in-depth interviews with students of the National Research Mordovia State University of various fields of study) sociological research conducted in 2023. Results. The main sources (including oral recollections of family members, textbooks, artistic and popular science films and literature, traditional and digital archives, thematic websites) and technologies for accessing information about mass political repression have been identified. It has been shown that, when motivated, students use neurosearch, digital archives, and genealogical websites (MyHeritage, Geni.com) to fill in gaps in their knowledge about their family's past. Forms of incorporating family memories into the public narrative (local history competitions, publications, museums) have been identified. The typological characteristics of the mnemonic behavior of centenarians are defined: pluralistic agonism or avoidance of mnemonic conflicts. The mode of communication about the Soviet past is characterized as pluralistic and pillarized, generally corresponding to the dominant historical narrative, which condemns political repression but avoids assessments of the Soviet period as a whole. The prevailing methods of managing the content and structure of family memory about repression are revealed: individualization of family history, historicization in the form of deactualization or meta-historical reflection, and the construction of one's own narrative of national history (among history students). Discussion and Conclusion. The study questions the universal value of the concept of transgenerational trauma, showing that the discussion of family memories among centenarians is based on a choice between agonistic and evasive attitudes. This allows us to characterize the mode of communication about repression as divided but not split. The results confirm the validity of the relational approach and point to the need for its application in further generational studies, as well as the importance of studying the social factors of framing family memories in the process of their transformation into “post-memory”.

The article examines the evolution of research topics and methodological developments in the field of market sociology based on an analysis of 486 articles by Chinese sociologists published in the Chinese journal of So-ciological Research from 1986 to 2025. Empirical research is conducted using word frequency analysis and content analysis. The study shows that Chinese market sociology has undergone a gradual evolution from ini-tial (primary) research, a period of transformation and focus on the main problems of the market, then to a pe-riod of diversified expansion and development, and finally to the modern stage of deep integration of research methods and topics under consideration. It can be stated that the research topic has gradually shifted from a theoretical vision to an in-depth analysis of real-world problems, such as the characteristics of individualistic economic action and activity, enterprise transformation, consumer culture, and platform management. Meth-odologically, the research paradigm has evolved from early theoretical speculation and borrowings and empir-ical description to a balance between quantitative and qualitative research, and now to integration and innova-tion in the fields of big data analysis, digital ethnography, and interdisciplinary methods. This step-by-step de-velopment not only corresponds to the specifics of market reforms in China, but also reflects the theoretical understanding of sociology of new market forms in the era of the digital economy. This article reveals the key role of sociological research in the development of market sociology, offers an academic map for understand-ing the mechanism of interaction between the market and society, and provides guidance for future research directions and methodological innovations.

Society, Democracy and Human Rights: Sociological Interpretation Notes
  • Dec 23, 2025
  • Asian Journal of Applied Sciences
  • Ivonaldo Leite

This work aims to develop an approach, from the point of view of sociological research, regarding the relationship between democracy and human rights. In this sense, it initially outlines some key elements of democracy and discusses some of its problematic aspects. It states, for example, that a representative system is not necessarily democratic. Then, the paper deals with the concept of human rights. It emphasizes that the protection of human rights and the rule of law, not only in developed but also in developing countries, is best achieved through a commitment to democratic principles. The experience of human rights and freedoms is necessary for democracy to function properly at all. In conclusion, it is stated that the guarantee of civil and political rights for the individual citizen plays a fundamental role in democracy. For instance, these rights are essential to secure the twin democratic principles of popular control and political equality in the system of collective decision-making.

In particular, the possibility of internal and external religious orientation and influence on the behavior of young people is considered. In turn, it is through scientific and practical research that new imperial results are presented. As part of this study, a total of 164 students were surveyed using a structured survey. In order to collect digital information, the level of responsibility, internal and external religious orientation of students were considered. As part of the data analysis, they analyzed problems using the Pearson coefficient to determine any possible relationships between the variables under study. In addition, an internal matching scale was evaluated using the Cronbach alpha test to ensure the reliability of measurements. The internal coherence of the student responsibility scale is assessed as very high, as evidenced by Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.782. The internal (α = 0.812) and external (α = 0.673) scales for measuring religious orientation were respectively. The results of the analysis showed a weak positive correlation between student responsibility and internal (r= 0.428) average and external (r = 0.152) religiosity. The results show a positive correlation between student orientation and religious responsibility. The internal religious orientation shows a somewhat stronger correlation with the tasks of the student than the external orientation. The results of the study indicate the need for further study of this connection in various situations. It should be noted that internal religious beliefs can significantly affect the responsible behavior of students. The results of the study will allow us to understand the behavior of students in higher educational institutions and develop various youth policy programs. In 2020, the Batan area of Madrid experienced a dramatic 611% increase in recorded crimes compared to the previous year, according to judicial sources. Since then, completed crimes have been frequently reported, raising significant concern among local residents. This pilot study aims to assess levels of perceived insecurity and victimisation within the Batan neighbourhood. To this end, a victimisation questionnaire was distributed to residents in 2022 through neighbourhood networks. The questionnaire is based on the last general survey conducted by the Centre for Sociological Research for the Community of Madrid in 2007. The sample size for the pilot project includes 62 completed questionnaires. Findings indicate that 78.7% of respondents perceived the level of security in the Batan neighbourhood as either regular, bad, or very bad - with 49.2% describing it as bad or very bad and 29.5% describing it as regular. One of the most concerning issues for respondents was the fear of criminal victimisation. Based on these preliminary results, the study has expanded into a larger project that includes the broader Lucero neighbourhood, and it has incorporated qualitative methods in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of urban insecurity. In the future, it would be important to consider a citywide assessment across Madrid.

The digital transformation of all Russian economic sectors significantly affected the agricultural sector, where the main state task being solved is the provision of the country’s population with food, the demand for which is growing every year. The process of innovative technologies’ introduction is accompanied by not just the replacement of machinery, technologies, and equipment; it requires an improvement in the quality of one of the main production factors – human labor, which in agriculture traditionally was considered hard, monotonous, and even dangerous, creating conditions for increased injuries. The article considers fundamentally new approaches and requirements for staffing the agricultural sector in the context of digitalization. The task of updating the knowledge base, competencies, and skills of future specialists in digital agroeconomics is assigned to agricultural universities of the country, which were not fully adapted to new conditions. The impact of digitalization on the content and nature of agricultural labor is analyzed; elements of negative, mixed, and positive impact are emphasized. The problem of staffing agricultural enterprises is complicated by the weak motivation of graduates of agricultural universities to stay to work in the countryside, especially on farms. The article analyzes methods of students’ training and improvement of the skills of existing personnel and professional development of employees using the example of improved training approaches at the Volgograd State Agrarian University by creating a regional competence center in the field of digital agriculture and a training and experimental site and a demonstration site for the introduction of digital technologies in agricultural production, practical and laboratory classes, and educational practices. The article highlights the characteristics of training graduates for small agricultural businesses focused on producing high-quality, environmentally friendly food products. Authors’ contribution.
