The influence of volleyball training classes on the psychological health of students of higher education institutions in the conditions of martial law in the country

This scientific article examines the impact of volleyball training sessions on the psychological state of students in collective teams of higher educational institutions during the martial law in Ukraine. The study focuses on the study of aspects of psychological well- being and stress resistance of the participants. The research methodology includes the analysis of psychological indicators of students before and after participation in volleyball training sessions in the collective teams of higher education institutions. The obtained monitoring results allow us to understand how sports activity affects the psychological health of student youth in the stressful conditions of military service, in particular. The results of the study also indicate possible practical applications in the field of psychological support of students during the military conflict through the implementation of volleyball training programs. This can become the basis for the development of physical education programs aimed at increasing psychological stability and balancing the psychological well- being of the student community during the period of crises in the country. In addition, the article analyzes the relationship between participation in volleyball training sessions and the level of social interaction among the student community under martial law. Evidence of the beneficial effect of such classes on the psychological state of students can serve as an increase in their level of self-esteem and general well-being, contributes to the formation of a positive psychological climate in the university environment during difficult historical periods. The study offers new opportunities for studying the impact of sports activities on the mental health and social adaptation of students in countries with a difficult political situation.

Peculiarities of the psychological well-being and social adaptation of young students and cadets in wartime conditions

Background and Aim of Study: The mental health and social adaptation of young students and cadets in wartime conditions is a new and understudied problem. The aim of the study: to identify the particularities of psychological well-being and social adaptation of students and cadets in wartime conditions. Materials and Methods: Our study was conducted among the students and cadets of two Ukrainian universities (KNUIA, UzhNU) in 2023, February. 327 participants were divided into 3 groups: 1) 112 cadets whose permanent disposition was changed in Ukraine; 2) 108 students who were displaced and who are in Ukraine and EU countries; 3) 107 students who did not change their place of permanent residence and who are in Ukraine in the combat zone or near it. The 28-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) to assess psychological well-being and emotional stability, and the Social Support Questionnaire (F-SozU K-22) to determine the particularities of emotional support, practical support, and social integration were used in the study. Appropriate internal consistency values (Cronbach α between 0.817 and 0.903) were found for both scales. Results: Group 1 has the best general health indicator: 1.65 times better than Group 3. The levels of somatic symptoms, anxiety and insomnia are lower in Group 1 (practically the same in women and men), and higher in Group 3. The highest rates of social dysfunction are found in Group 3. Men in all groups have more pronounced social dysfunction; women in all groups have more pronounced severe depression. Group 1 total perceived social support is 1.89 times better than Group 3. Emotional support, social integration are highest in Group 1, practical support is highest in Group 2. Conclusions: The lowest levels of psychological well-being and social adaptation were found in Group 3. This is probably due to uncertainty about the future, constant instability and insecurity. Teachers and psychologists are urged to consider the identified psychological and social peculiarities in the educational and clinical process when dealing with young students.

Psychological and social adaptation of students with visual impairment and blindness at Mu’tah University

This study aimed to identify the level of psychological and social adaptation of students with varying levels of visual disabilities at Mu’tah University and the effect of gender on it. To achieve these aims, the researcher prepared and used a psychological and social adaptation scale to collect data from twelve students with visual impairment or blindness (both male and female). The results showed that the levels of psychological and social adaptation were moderate. Further, there were no statistically significant differences between students with visual impairment in psychological and social adaptation levels due to gender, only in psychological adaption favoring males. One of the most important recommendations of this study was to provide psychological support and counseling services to students with visual impairment or blindness at the university’s student counseling office. Social Adaptation of Students in a Multicultural Environment during Distance Learning

The problem of social adaptation of students in a multicultural environment has always been a concern of pedagogical science. With the development of telecommunication technologies, educational institutions face with the issue of finding effective forms of interaction between students. The aim of the article is to theoretically and empirically develop an integrated concept of studying the resilience of foreign students in a multicultural environment during distance learning. Methods: survey, methods of remote collection and processing of information (GOOGLE Forms), Self-Determination Test; K. Riff’s Scale of Psychological Well-Being, statistical methods of data processing, methods of analysis of the reliability of survey. The correlation between adaptation and resilience of foreign students who participated in the study is (r = 0.45; p <0.01). In turn, the resilience index is 81.92%. According to the study, students show high and medium rates of resilience during distance learning in the process of adaptation to a multicultural environment. It has been found that most students do not have difficulty adapting to distance learning due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Thus, it was found that the process of adaptation of students in a multicultural environment during distance learning allowed maintaining a high rate of resilience, which indicates its effectiveness. Further research should be aimed at studying the development of professional competencies among students of narrow educational and professional training. It is also necessary to develop in detail the methodology for implementing the model of adaptation to distance learning.

Attitudes of early childhood education teachers towards educational inclusion and the social adjustment of students with disabilities

Research shows that teachers' attitudes are a decisive element of the effective inclusion of students with disabilities, thereby conducive to the social adaptation of these students. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between teachers' attitudes towards inclusive education and the social adjustment of students with disabilities. The sample consisted of 79 teachers of early childhood education working in a mainstream school and having a student in their class with a decision on the need for special education. The study used the Multidimensional Attitudes Scale towards Inclusive Education and the Classroom Behaviour Inventory Preschool to Primary. The results obtained in the study allow the conclusion that the positive beliefs of a teacher towards inclusive education (cognitive component of attitude) are most strongly associated with the social adaptation of a student with a disability. The conducted study showed that the teacher's readiness to modify the physical environment, his communication method and the methods of assessment with regard to the student's abilities and needs is related to the social adaptation of students with disabilities in a mainstream class. These aspects seem to be essential for the optimal functioning of a student with a disability in a mainstream class. The role of teachers' attitudes towards inclusive education in shaping the social adjustment of students with disabilities was emphasized.

School Mediation as a Means of Preventing Social Maladjustment of Students from Risk Groups

This research study examines issues related to the prevention of social maladjustment of students from risk groups through the use of school mediation. The relevance of the stated research topic is due to the significant scale of the spread of juvenile delinquency in modern Ukrainian society and the growing popularity of school mediation to resolve and prevent emerging social problems at the school stage. This research study aims to identify and state the main aspects in the impact of the practice of school mediation on the factors that are fundamental in the social adaptation of students from the risk group in the modern realities of Ukrainian society. The leading approach in this scientific research is a combination of analytical and logical methods of researching the issues presented as the main ones in this work. The main results of this research study were: identifying the degree of the positive impact of mediation practice at school on the students’ consciousness in the context of the need for their subsequent social adaptation and stating the fact that this practice is promising in the future to resolve issues of social fitness specifically for students from risk groups in modern social conditions. The applied value of this research work is identifying the prospects for further research of a complex of factors affecting the social situation in Ukraine in the context of the subsequent spread in a society of groups that pose a social danger, and the possibilities of school mediation as a means of preventing the development of such a phenomenon already in the early stages. Subsequent scientific research on the role of school mediation in the context of preventing the development of juvenile delinquency and assessing its effectiveness in preventing the social spread of students at risk will help supplement the existing information picture of research in this area and will become the starting point for an objective analysis of the need to use school mediation as means of preventing the spread of juvenile delinquency in Ukraine.

The Socio-Educational Adaptation of Secondary School Migrant Students in Sicily: Migrant Generation, School Linguistic Mediation and Teacher Proactivity Factors

This study aims to analyze the implications of linguistic mediation processes and educational proactivity in schools for the socio-educational adaptation of immigrant students. The study is based on empirical research and the perspectives of the main actors: the immigrant students themselves. To this end, a non-experimental and descriptive quantitative methodology was used. The sample consisted of 100 students of foreign origin enrolled in an Italian school located in a typical socio-cultural environment. The results show significant differences in linguistic mediation and socio-educational variables and differences in expectations of progress and social adaptation of students born outside Italy vis-a-vis students who, although born in Italy, are still considered foreigners. It will also analyze teaching proactivity as a communication facilitator for first-generation immigrant pupils born outside Italy. In conclusion, it is noted that, to favor multicultural environments where all students, regardless of their origin, feel accepted, integrated, and welcomed, it is necessary to utilize all available resources to promote improvements in teaching-learning processes and strengthen social relations.

Cyberbullying in the University Setting. Relationship With Emotional Problems and Adaptation to the University.

Little scientific attention has been paid to the problem of cyberbullying in the university environment, compared to similar studies conducted on adolescents. This study attempts to analyze the predictive capacity of certain emotional problems (anxiety, depression, and stress) and university adaptation with respect to cyberbullying in victims and aggressors. The European Cyberbullying Intervention Project Questionnaire, the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 and the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire were administered to a sample of 1282 university students (46.33% male) aged between 18 and 46. The results suggest that high levels of depression and stress increase the probability of being a cyberbullying victim, while high levels of depression increase the probability of being a cyberbullying aggressor. Similarly, the personal–emotional and social adaptation of students are found to be predictor variables of being a cyberbullying victim, in that high levels of personal–emotional and social adaptation decrease the probability of being a victim, while high levels of personal–emotional, academic and institutional adaptation decrease the probability of being a cyberbullying victim. The results of this study are of special relevance, since they indicate that intervention programs should consider the influence of emotional intelligence, as well as the relevance students’ adaptation to university.

Technology of social adaptation of students of the I course of pedagogical higher education

PECULIARITIES OF PSYCHO-EMOTIONAL STATE OF STUDENT YOUTH WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENTS

On the basis of literature analysis, data of sociological and pedagogical studies the level of self-esteem and emotional well-being of students with hearing impairments is determined as one of the important components of psychological health. During the study, special attention was paid to the characteristics of students’ emotional well-being with the goal of deeply influencing the effectiveness of their quality in future interaction in society (to perceive the intellectual and aesthetic values of society, to master the moral and ethical standards of human relationships). Indeed, the social adaptation of students with hearing impairments is often complicated by emotional and behavioral disorders, which are formed as secondary deviations through a primary defect and social deprivation. Objective. Identification of peculiarities of psycho-emotional state of students with hearing impairments. Methods. Theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature, testing, discussions. Results.The results of own research allowed to determine the self-esteem of student youth with hearing impairments. Most students are found to have low self-esteem because their perceptions of the ideal personality do not correspond to their self-perception. Spearman’s coefficient calculation showed that there is no statistical significance between the student’s self-esteem and his / her idea of the ideal personality. Most of young boys have insufficient self-esteem level of 83.33 %, whereas among young girls a critical level of 28.57 % prevails along with insufficient one 48.57 %. The sources of inadequate self-esteem (critical and insufficient levels) are often found in individual characteristics, or in unfavorable conditions of training, upbringing, in various social institutions. If students with hearing impairment have low self-esteem, they are not confident in their abilities, have limited life prospects, do not seek to fully realize their capabilities. It was revealed that, depending on gender, the emotional state of the subjects is different: usually young men are more confident in themselves, not prone to emotions, less often feel loneliness and anxiety. At the same time, girls are noted for the breadth of cognitive interests, have a broader outlook.

The article is devoted to innovative game methods of teaching the in career-oriented work of the teacher. The methods developed in the form of game technology has communicative and at the same time professionally oriented on the content of tasks focus, and aimed at improving the professional skills of employees of educational institutions.Different in content games allow to create elements of situationality, update team skills, reveal leadership and performing qualities, discover the creative potential, promote social adaptation of students. The apparent advantage of innovative game methods of teaching is also its upbringing potential. Such forms as brain-ring and training are considered the most detail. Brain-ring belongs to the not imitation gaming methods and is the most attractive to young people due to the dynamic, competitive nature. The training, consisting of business and role-playing games, numerous exercises and specific tasks, aims to the development of knowledge and skills, and formation of social attitudes. These interactive methods make it possible to adjust and improve communication, general cultural and professional competence. Innovative technologies with communicative orientation focused on the development of verbal and non-verbal components of communicative competence, extension of possibilities for dia-and polylogic communication, systematization of knowledge about the kinds and means of business communication, improving the skills of business presentations and negotiations. The interdisciplinary nature of the game tasks can solve not only specific professional task to motivate the choice of working specialty, but also expand the humanitarian horizon. Tasks historical and linguistic and cultural character helping revive the ideas and knowledge about traditional national culture and moral values and features of Russian cultural world, stimulate the interest to Russian language, cultivate patriotic feelings.
