Bibliometric Analysis of Generative AI and Large Language Models in the Scopus Database: Trends, Insights, and Research Landscape

This bibliometric study explores the scientific research landscape by analyzing journal sources, author productivity, institutional contributions, and national research output using bibliometric laws such as Bradford’s Law and Lotka’s Law. The findings identify IEEE ACCESS as the most influential journal, with 26 articles, dominating Zone 1 publications. Lotka’s Law is validated as 94% of authors contributed only one article, while a small group of researchers produced multiple influential works. Institutional analysis shows that the University of California, Cornell University, and Nanyang Technological University significantly increased their research output over time. At the national level, the USA leads with 238 publications, followed by China (77), India (69), and the UK (61). While these results highlight the major contributors to the field, the study also discusses challenges such as data limitations, citation lag effects, and geographical concentration of research efforts. This analysis provides a comprehensive overview of current trends, aiding researchers and policymakers in understanding the dynamics of scientific productivity and influence.

Junior research groups: A promising format for PhD qualification

The doctoral research with its final thesis and its successful defense is one of the most important steps in the early career of a scientist. Whereas the achievement of a PhD individually under the supervision of an experienced scientist is common practice performed for decades, for example, in Germany, the development of structured PhD programs which should enhance the scientific quality of Higher Education was put forward in Europe within the so-called Bologna process since 1999. Both these options have advantages and disadvantages for the students and the supervisors involved. Accordingly, an additional format is suggested which enriches the portfolio of PhD formats. The Junior Research Groups have been established particularly within funding programs of the German Stifterverband. With a small number of PhD students performing supervised research in teams of various disciplines, this format offers flexible small research groups with a certain autonomy in which an intense interdisciplinary discourse can be established.

Team Learning in the Field: An Organizing Framework and Avenues for Future Research

When Amy received the invitation to write an essay for Small Group Research, she wanted to collaborate with one of her former students, and Jean-François was thrilled when offered the opportunity. They had followed and contributed to team learning research—separately and together—and both relished the opportunity to reflect on the challenges and opportunities today’s teams (and team researchers) face. Demands for learning have never been greater, and teams have never been more complex. In this article, the authors reflect on team-learning research using a framework that emerged from their collaborative work and share thoughts and propositions for future research.

Peer violence and bullying – experiences and coping methods of teachers of grades IV–VIII

Introduction: The study aimed to describe the role, experiences and strategies used by educators of classes IV–VIII in the face of peer violence and bullying. The study focused on actual actions and experiences supported by the educator’s own practice. Method: Seven participants were interviewed in semi-structured interviews. Data analysis was carried out using a reflexive thematic analysis methodology. Results: Five main themes were identified: the role of the educator; peer violence and bullying; intervention activities; prevention activities; and good advice. Interventions most often include conversations with students, disciplinary interventions and cooperation with the educator, parents and other teachers. Preventive actions mainly follow the guidelines in the school curriculum and a number of socalled own activities. In addition, the analysis made it possible to distinguish two groups of educators, the so-called ‘subject’ and ‘relational’ educators, who differ significantly in their approach to students, the strategies used and the perception of their own role. Conclusions: The data collected shows that female educators, when confronted with peer violence, use a wide variety of both intervention and prevention measures. The study points to the need to verify the effectiveness of the measures and solutions presented, while taking into account the impact on relationships and classroom climate, in the short and long term. In order to increase the reliability of the study, as well as the effectiveness of the implemented measures, it is worth placing more emphasis on the distinction between the roles played by teachers at school: educator vs. subject teacher. A limitation of the study is the small research group, which did not allow for the diversity of educators’ experiences and the contexts in which violence and bullying occur.

The Role of Sharia Economics in Realizing Sustainable Development in Indonesia

This study provides a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the role of Sharia economics in promoting sustainable development in Indonesia. By examining 810 publications between 2006 and 2024, the study explores key research trends, themes, and collaborations in the literature. The analysis reveals a significant increase in research activity after 2020, with a focus on aligning Islamic finance principles with sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly in areas such as poverty alleviation, economic growth, and green finance. Keyword co-occurrence visualizations highlight the importance of concepts such as "green sukuk," "economic growth," and "poverty alleviation," while co-authorship networks show concentrated collaboration within small research groups. The findings suggest that Sharia economics has substantial potential to contribute to SDGs, particularly through instruments like green sukuk and waqf, but greater interdisciplinary collaboration and exploration of emerging topics like technology and post-pandemic recovery are needed. These insights have significant implications for both academic research and policy-making in Indonesia and beyond.

The Development of Liveworksheets-Assisted Discovery Learning Model Worksheets for Improving Student’s Critical Thinking Ability

Student Worksheets (LKS) are an interactive bridge between teachers and students, this is also related to measuring student learning outcomes. The use of worksheets affects the level of effectiveness in working on test questions. Stimulating students' cognitive critical thinking can be obtained, including from learning mathematics with the right approach method. One of the students' learning goals is to be innovative and creative in solving problems with solutions. The aim of this research is to develop a LKPD (Learner Worksheet) model of discovery learning assisted by a live worksheet to make it more effective and efficient and have the potential impact of growing students' cognitive level of critical thinking. The research method used is a design research model which is divided into two parts, namely preliminary (preliminary study and LKPD-Liveworksheet design) and formative evaluation including self-evaluation, prototyping (expert review, one-to-one, and small groups) research field tests as well revision. Research data was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The research results show students' critical thinking abilities for Liveworksheet LKPD teaching materials with exponents and logarithms in the "Legal" and "Easy" categories according to experts and practitioners. The results of the research show that the LKPD developed is feasible, effective and influences students' critical thinking skills using the discovery learning model. The activities in this research have resulted in a product being developed in the form of a critical thinking worksheet using a discovery learning model assisted by a live worksheet which creates productive learning.

Vosviewer-Based Bibliometric Review of Transshipment Location Problem From 2000 to 2023

Objective: This study conducts a comprehensive bibliometric review of the Transshipment Location Problem (TLP) by identifying key authors, countries, journals, and research areas. It also maps the evolution of TLP and explores methodologies and tools used for optimizing logistical and distribution systems. Theoretical Framework: TLP, a variant of the classical transshipment problem, has gained attention for its role in optimizing supply chain networks. It involves both proactive transshipment (planned inventory management) and reactive transshipment (responding to unexpected events or shortages). Method: This study applies a bibliometric analysis methodology using VOSviewer to analyze publications extracted from the Scopus database. The analysis focuses on key bibliometric indicators such as co-authorship, co-citation, and keyword co-occurrence. The dataset comprises 432 selected articles published between 2000 and 2023. Results and Discussion: The review reveals that optimization tools, particularly in transportation and inventory management, are widely applied in TLP studies The United States, China, and Germany are leading contributors to TLP research. Lateral transshipment strategies are increasingly employed to enhance supply chain flexibility. A small group of influential researchers drives the field through collaborations and citations. Research Implications: The review provides valuable insights for future research, highlighting gaps in applying optimization methods in emerging fields like healthcare. It offers a clear view of the geographical and institutional landscape of TLP research and suggests areas for future study, such as sustainability. Originality/Value: This review fills a gap in the literature by systematically mapping TLP research’s evolution and its growing relevance in logistical systems optimization across various industries.

When fMRI came to Bergen and Norway - as I remember it.

In this personal recollection, I review the beginning of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) research in Norway, i.e., at the University of Bergen and the Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen. Research with fMRI had already started in Bergen in 1993, and the small group of researchers involved were the first to take up this new method for studies of the brain and brain-behavior relationships. This article is a recollection of the early years of how the field started and developed in Bergen, Norway over the years, including basic as well as clinical research, and how the research also led to successful innovation and commercialization through the establishment of a MedTech company, NordicNeuroLab (NNL), that has delivered products to more than 2,000 university hospitals worldwide.

A high-order focus interaction model and oral ulcer dataset for oral ulcer segmentation

Computer-aided diagnosis has been slow to develop in the field of oral ulcers. One of the major reasons for this is the lack of publicly available datasets. However, oral ulcers have cancerous lesions and their mortality rate is high. The ability to recognize oral ulcers at an early stage in a timely and effective manner is a very critical issue. In recent years, although there exists a small group of researchers working on these, the datasets are private. Therefore to address this challenge, in this paper a multi-tasking oral ulcer dataset (Autooral) containing two major tasks of lesion segmentation and classification is proposed and made publicly available. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first team to make publicly available an oral ulcer dataset with multi-tasking. In addition, we propose a novel modeling framework, HF-UNet, for segmenting oral ulcer lesion regions. Specifically, the proposed high-order focus interaction module (HFblock) performs acquisition of global properties and focus for acquisition of local properties through high-order attention. The proposed lesion localization module (LL-M) employs a novel hybrid sobel filter, which improves the recognition of ulcer edges. Experimental results on the proposed Autooral dataset show that our proposed HF-UNet segmentation of oral ulcers achieves a DSC value of about 0.80 and the inference memory occupies only 2029 MB. The proposed method guarantees a low running load while maintaining a high-performance segmentation capability. Pengembangan Variasi Latihan Kekuatan pada Cabang Olahraga Panahan Kabupaten Kediri Usia 10-15 Tahun

The aim of the research and development of this module is to develop physical training for archery sports referring to basic archery techniques. Researchers use the research and development model method in qualitative analysis and quantitative descriptive presentations that apply a Research and Development (R&amp;D) design that refers to Borg and Gall. In this research, there are 7 research designs that are adapted to the characteristics studied, namely: 1) research and data collection, 2) planning, 3) product draft development, 4) small group trials, 5) initial product refinement, 6) large group trials , and 7) improvement of the final product. The product trial stages of this development module use 5 stages, namely: a) product refinement with evaluation results from 4 archery experts, b) small group research trial subjects using 4 athletes and 8 athletes for large group trials, c) types of research data using questionnaires, observation and documentation, d) Likert scale measurement techniques are data type instruments used in research, e) research data analysis techniques in the form of percentages. The validity results for archery experts show an average of 77.10%, which means this product is very valid. The module for developing variations in strength training for the archery sport in Kediri Regency aged 10-15 years was also tested in small groups with results of 79.85%, and large group trials showed a figure of 87.71%. The results of the large group trials and small group trials were categorized as valid, so the conclusion of the research on the development of strength training development modules for archery sports in Kediri Regency aged 10-15 years can be declared suitable for use in helping facilitate strength training in archery sports.

Group Dynamics Meets Organizational Learning: Reflections on Research

This essay was prepared in response to an invitation by Stephen Zaccaro, the President of INGRoup, and Lyn Van Swol, the Editor of Small Group Research, to recipients of the McGrath Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Study of Groups. My essay provides an overview of my research, including the human as well as the intellectual side of the endeavor. I recognize scholars who most influenced my research and those with whom I have had the pleasure of collaborating. Theoretical perspectives that shaped my thinking are acknowledged and significant milestones in my career described. The essay concludes with a discussion of suggestions that I hope will be useful to current and recent PhD students interested in groups.

Integrating Consciousness Science with Cognitive Neuroscience: An Introduction to the Special Focus.

Consciousness science is experiencing a coming-of-age moment. Following 3 decades of sustained efforts by a relatively small group of consciousness researchers, the field has seen exponential growth over the past 5 years. It is increasingly recognized that although the investigation of subjective experiences is a difficult task, modern neuroscience need not and cannot shy away from the challenge of peeling away the mysteries of conscious experiences. In June 2023, with the joint support of the U.S. National Institutes of Health and the U.S. National Science Foundation, a 3-day workshop was held at the Bethesda, MD, campus of the National Institutes of Health, convening experts whose work focuses primarily on problems of consciousness, or an adjacent field, to discuss the current state of consciousness science and consider the most fruitful avenues for future research. This Special Focus features empirical and theoretical contributions from some of the invited speakers at the workshop. Here, I will cover the scope of the workshop, the content of this Special Focus, and advocate for stronger bridges between consciousness science and other subdisciplines of cognitive neuroscience.

Pengembangan Panduan Layanan Informasi Pencegahan Pelecehan Seksual: Sebuah Pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning

Sexual harassment is increasingly rampant in people's lives, this can become a big problem both personally and socially for students, if there is a lack of understanding and knowledge about positive attitudes towards sexuality. One of the efforts to provide understanding, knowledge and prevention that can be carried out by BK Teachers is through providing information services. In order to be more focused on the sources of information obtained, a learning media product was created in the form of a guide to providing information services as a form of preventing sexual harassment. This research was conducted with the aim of developing a sexual harassment prevention information service guide (using a Contextual Teaching and Learning approach). Using the ADDIE model development research method (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation), with small group research subjects consisting of 3 experts and 3 guidance and counseling teachers. The results of the research show that the sexual harassment prevention information service guide (using the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach) is valid and can be used by guidance and counseling teachers to improve the prevention of sexual harassment.

Understanding Inclusivity in Online Learning from a Socio-material Lens

The global pandemic in 2020 has led to a recent rise of digital technologies in higher education internationally, which seems to make learning less restricted in terms of time and space (Oztok, 2019) and enhance inclusion and engagement in learning. However, it is necessary to distinguish the presence and interaction in online learning from true connectedness and inclusivity. Networked learning, as a concept being constantly explored by a small group of researchers since the 1990s and attracting increasing current attention, is built around the different kinds of connections between students and instructors, as well as human and non-humans (NLEC, 2021). This paper emphasizes the need to be aware of the dimension of connection constructed through the assemblage of humans, materials and discourses. Adopting a socio-material perspective, the assumed high accessibility of online learning and the neo-liberal discourse of a ‘good learner’ are challenged and care is proposed as an approach to improve inclusivity in online learning in higher education. This paper is drawn from the data of a comparative research study that explores the online learning experience of undergraduate students in one case study university in China and the UK respectively. The research consisted of qualitative interviews with students and academics in the case discipline Sociology. The findings suggest a mismatch between students’ and teachers’ perception of what makes effective engagement. Although the teachers recognise certain difficulties in online courses, such as technical issues for organizing small group discussions, arguably the implied neo-liberal message is that hard-working ‘good’ students will always participate, regardless of where or how they learn. However, interviews with students in both contexts show that the specific surroundings in formal and informal educational settings, the interaction and support from peers, and the way their status is recognised in the community concomitantly mediate their experience, in addition to their abilities or motivation. This research contributes by highlighting the potential of emergent forms of networked learning in terms of unveiling the issues of established discourses including neoliberalism. It provides suggestions for future practices by proposing the role of care, supported by the findings, in tackling disengagement and exclusion, and pivoting students around supportive learning. Further, it adopts a socio-material perspective that fills a gap created by the dominance of human-centred research, generating reflections on the use of online materials in higher education.

Asymmetric Additions Empowered by OrganoCatalysts, Metal Catalysts, and Deep Natural Eutectic Solvents (NADES).

This article is a history of an industrial-academic partnership that started almost two decades ago and details the evolution of a relationship between a small academic research group and a spin-out company located in Portugal. Their activities have ranged from the development of new metal-based catalytic systems for asymmetric epoxidations, allylic alkylations, and arylations to the development of novel cinchona-based organocatalysts for asymmetric hydrosilylations and Michael additions. Current common interests are centered on the development of novel chiral Natural Deep Eutectic Solvent systems, which they are investigating in different types of reaction systems.

Ketogenic diet for ovarian disorders - promising nutritional approach in polycystic ovarian syndrome and ovarian cancer

Introduction and purpose:&#x0D; Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disease in the female reproductive age. As treatment guidelines include lifestyle changes, various diet types are being evaluated in terms of efficacy among them ketogenic diet (KD) which was also assessed in terms of its influence on another ovarian related disease - ovarian cancer. The aim of this paper is an analysis of the available scientific data in respect of the role of the KD as a part of the therapy of ovarian related disorders. The search was conducted using PubMed and Google Scholarship databases.&#x0D; Brief description of the state of knowledge:&#x0D; Ketogenic diet demonstrates favorable effects in the hormonal profile of PCOS-affected women. It was also noticed that its administration results in the reduction of BMI and the improvement in glycemic parameters. Most of the research was conducted by linking the ketogenic diet with the caloric restriction. In the matter of ovarian cancer the results are unclear; some of the research states the improvement of the quality of life of the participants, but there is some alarming data of the possible role of KD in enhancing the tumor growth.&#x0D; Conclusions:&#x0D; Ketogenic diet merits further research as a possible factor in the treatment of PCOS as foregoing results are pointing to its efficacy. Nevertheless, still more data is needed to determine its role as studies were conducted within a short period of time with relatively small research groups. There are also other limitations such as the lack of comparison with other dietary patterns with the caloric deficit which makes it difficult to deduce the main profitable factor. When it comes to ovarian cancer the results of the current data are also unclear and unambiguous with the possible negative effects.

Abstract 1291: ASPIRE: Advocates and Scientists Partner in Research Education

Abstract UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) has a robust and growing cancer patient advocacy community. UNC Lineberger is the flagship publicly funded comprehensive cancer center in North Carolina. We are constantly looking for ways to educate patient and community advocates on recent advances in cancer biology research and clinical trials. Our advocates are also valuable partners for our basic and clinical researchers that may be early in their career. We developed and implemented an inaugural research education program for new advocates. We model this program partly on the highly successful and popular AACR Scientist Survivor Program that recently celebrated it’s 25th anniversary. Some of the UNC LCCC advocates participate in the SSP and were motivated to develop our own local program. We will showcase our pilot 2024 ASPIRE education program that brings together cancer patient and community advocates and cancer researchers to learn from each other. The basic itinerary of the ASPIRE program is: 1.Three separate one-hour online presentations by UNC Lineberger researchers with a patient advocate moderator. The topics covered are: Cancer 101 : cancer biology, diagnosis, staging, treatment. Clinical Trials 101: clinical trials, phases, patient protection, progress with for example accrual of representative populations. Research 101: bench research, bioinformatic, AI, how research works and how it may lead to new treatments. To showcase a tissue donation program being developed by UNC Patient Advocates that will benefit researchers. 2.The lecture series is followed by a breakfast roundtable discussion for all the participants to discuss their experiences. There will be short presentations and discussions in small groups of researchers and cancer patient advocates. We will summarize our ASPIRE pilot experience, how our participation in the SSP program motivated this local program, and how we plan to incorporate feedback from participants to inform future programs.
