An important role in the effective system of training skilled female volleyball players is played by the rational management and usage of various methods for control of athletes’ fitness. Assessment of speed-strength abilities and introduction of specialized training programs for their improvement will allow to optimize the training process of female athletes during the annual training cycle. Therefore, it becomes obvious that it is advisable to carry out scientific studies to optimize the training process for skilled volleyball players by finding effective means and methods to enhance speed-strength abilities, which is currently a topical and scientifically significant problem. Objective. Optimization of training process of skilled volleyball players on the basis of improving speed-strength abilities. Methods. Data analysis of special scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical observation, pedagogical testing, pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics. Results. On the basis of pedagogical testing, the levels of manifestation ofspeed-strength abilities of skilled volleyball players were determined, which led to the introduction of a special training program. It has been determined that skilled volleyball players of different playing positions have certain differences during pedagogical test performance, which mainly depends on the peculiarities of their competitive activity. For the experimental program realization, complexes of physical exercises were selected, which included “speed”, “strength” and “jumping” blocks in the training cycle of volleyball players lasting four weeks, which corresponds to the preparatory period of the macrocycle of training of athletes at the stage of realization of individual opportunities. The effectiveness of the experimental program implementation was confirmed by a statistically significant (p < 0.05) increase in the basic indices of pedagogical testing performance in skilled volleyball players.
