Kinerja Angkutan Barang pada jalur Kereta Api di Sumatera Selatan

The study aims to determine the impact of the infrastructure and maintenance quality on On Time Performance to the company’s freight transportation railroad track performance in South Sumatra. The data of the research was collected from a population of 30 coal mining companies operating in the southern part of Sumatra. This research used Path Analysis as the data analysis techniques. The conclusion states that there is a significant positive direct and indirect influence of the infrastructure facilities and maintenance quality variable on the company’s goods transportation performance through OTP. In addition, the company’s freight transportation performance contributes directly to OTP. Based on the research findings, the company’s freight transportation performance can be maximized by improving the rolling stocks quality and maintenance through On Time Performance. The Path Analysis results show that the infrastructure maintenance directly contributes to OTP of 21.17 percent and contributes to the freight transportation performance of 17.04 percent.

Impact of artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot characteristics on customer experience and customer satisfaction

ABSTRACT This study analyzed the characteristics affecting the consumer’s intention to use the chatbot service and customer satisfaction, which is a representative artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the banking industry. The theoretical model was based on the technology acceptance model (TAM). The anthropomorphism and personalization of chatbots were proposed as important characteristics that lead to the intention to use the chatbot service. A research model was constructed and demonstrated whether the characteristics of these chatbots had a significant effect on product knowledge, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and customer satisfaction. The empirical study was conducted on customers with experience in using chatbots. The data were analyzed using Smart PLS 3.0 structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). As a result of the analysis, the anthropomorphism and personalization characteristics of the chatbot had a significant direct or indirect influence on the consumer’s intention to use and customer satisfaction. This study is expected to provide meaningful insights in discovering innovative services that provide new customer value experiences by artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot services, which are evaluated as innovative technologies in the next stage of online banking and mobile banking.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: SOCIAL SUPPORT, SELF-CONFIDENCE, AND ECONOMIC LEARNING MOTIVATION

This research aims to find out the indirect influence of Self-Confidence on Learning Outcomes through the economics learning motivation of Class XI Students at SMK Negeri 2 Jambi City. This type of research is causal associative using a quantitative approach. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri 2 Jambi City. The method used is a survey method through distributing questionnaires from a population and sample of 124 people, using a saturated sampling technique or census. Data processing uses SPSS Amos (Statistical Product and Service Solution) version 17.1 for Windows 8. The results of this research show that: 1) There is a significant positive influence between social support on learning outcomes of 0.455, t count > t table, namely 5,640 > 1.67. 2) There is a positive and significant influence between self-confidence on learning outcomes of 0.402, t count > t table, namely 4,849 > 1.675. 3) There is a positive and significant influence between motivation on learning outcomes of 0.419, t count > t table, namely 1.675 > 0.05. 4) There is a positive and significant influence between social support and motivation of 0.272, t count > t table, namely 3,119 > 1,655. 5) There is a positive and significant influence between the work environment on work motivation of 0.844, t count > t table, namely 10.177 > 2.015. 6) There is a positive and significant indirect effect between support for economic learning outcomes through motivation of 0.559, F hit > F table or 518.919 > 2.698. 7) There is a positive and significant indirect influence between self-confidence on learning outcomes through motivation of 0.504, F hit > F table or 18.919 > 2.68. This research concludes that there is a positive and significant influence between social support, self-confidence, and motivation for the economic learning outcomes of class XI students at SMK Negeri 2 Jambi City. Without ignoring other factors that can also influence Economics learning outcomes. In an effort to improve economic learning outcomes, students should increase their sense of ownership and awareness of responsibility and comply with applicable policies for the common good

Strategy for Increasing Organizational Commitment through Strengthening the Effectiveness of Human Resource Management, Organizational Culture, Trust, and Perceived Organizational Support

Organizations require high commitment from employees to achieve optimal goals, which can be improved through effective human resource (HR) management, a strong organizational culture, and a high level of trust. This research aims to identify optimal strategies, methods, and solutions to increase organizational commitment by strengthening the effectiveness of human resource management, organizational culture, and trust. Using a quantitative design and path analysis approach processed using SEM PLS, data was collected through a questionnaire to 139 foundation permanent teachers from 16 private high schools in South Jakarta City. The results of the study show that there is a positive and significant direct influence of the effectiveness of human resource management and organizational culture on organizational commitment. In addition, there is a positive and significant direct influence of the effectiveness of HR management on trust, but the direct influence of organizational culture on trust, as well as the direct influence of trust on organizational commitment, is not significant. It was also found that there was a positive but not significant indirect influence of the effectiveness of human resource management and organizational culture on organizational commitment through trust. The implications of this study emphasize the need for strategies to strengthen the effectiveness of HR management by improving compensation and maintaining positive aspects such as maintenance, HR planning, training and development, HR procurement, and performance appraisal. Organizational culture must be maintained through relationships between individuals, relationships with the environment, consistency of behavior, core values, and agreed norms.

Healthy Living Behavior, Life Satisfaction and Social Support In Productive Age Individuals

<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> Indonesia will face an era of demographic bonus and the health of the productive age is valuable capital for accelerating development. The aim of the research is to determine the effect of healthy behavior on life satisfaction with social support as an intervening variable. Research population of individuals of productive age in Indonesia. The research sample was individuals aged 21 to 45 years who lived in Semarang, Solo, Jakarta, Surabaya and were not on a medical diet. The sampling technique is accidental sampling using Google Form. The data analysis technique uses intervening variable regression with the path analysis method with the SPSS application. The results of data analysis from 245 respondents showed that there was a significant direct influence of healthy living behavior on life satisfaction of 0.182 and there was a significant indirect influence of healthy living behavior on life satisfaction through social support of 0.285. Healthy living behavior must be carried out continuously to support productivity so that it contributes to life satisfaction in the future.</p><strong><em>Keywords</em>:</strong> <em>Healthy Living Behavior; Social Support; Life Satisfaction</em>

Innovation and Business Growth: Personality, Sociological and Environmental Factors in Entrepreneurs

Researchers frequently wonder why some entrepreneurs run small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) more successfully than others and why different SMEs have different survival rates even in the same operational environment. This has resulted in a need to investigate how other factors such as personality, sociology and environtment may mediate relationships between innovations and the growth of SMEs. This research was conducted on entreprenuers in Mataram City. This type of research is quantitative research. The analysis tool uses PLS analysis. It was found that personality has a significant direct and indirect influence on business innovation and business growth at a 10 percent test alpha. The sociological factors have a significant influence on alpha 5.00%, both directly and indirectly on innovation and business growth. Environmental factors are empirically ignored because they do not have a significant direct and indirect influence on business innovation and business growth. The contribution of this study is the clarification of the facts of personality and sociological factor of entrepreneurs and the indication that external environments can impact the business innovation and growth of entreprenuers.

The analysis tool uses Smart PLS (Partial Least Square). Research objectives: 1) To describe the job characteristics, motivation and work performance of employees at the Sampang Regency Regional Inspectorate Service. 2) To test and analyze the direct influence of job characteristics on employee work performance at the Sampang Regency Regional Inspectorate Service. 3) To test and analyze the direct influence of work ability on employee motivation at the Sampang Regency Regional Inspectorate Service. 4) To test and analyze the direct influence of motivation on employee work performance at the Sampang Regency Regional Inspectorate Service. 5) To test and analyze the significant indirect influence of job characteristics on employee work performance at the Sampang Regency Regional Inspectorate Service which is mediated by motivation. The research results show that: 1) Job characteristics have an insignificant effect on work performance with a p value of 0.100. 2) Job characteristics have a significant effect on motivation with a p value of 0.000. 3) Motivation has a significant effect on work performance with a p value of 0.000. 4) Job characteristics have a significant effect on work performance which is mediated by motivation with a p value of 0.007.

Economic Growth Mediates Village Funds And Original Local Government Revenue Towards Poverty In Regencies/Cities In East Java

Purpose: The mean of its research was to examine the effect of Village Funds and Local Government Revenue (PAD) on poverty mediated by economic growth in regencies and cities in East Java province.Design/Method/Approach: The research population is regencies/cities in East Java in 2015–2022. The data on Village Funds and Local Government Revenue were taken from the DJPK of the Ministry of Finance Republic Indonesia situs. The data on poverty and economic growth were obtained from the website of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of East Java Province. The data analysis used path analysis. Findings: The outputs declare Village Funds had a significant positive influence on poverty. Village Funds have no significant influence on economic accretion. Local Government Income has a significant negative influence on poverty. Local Government Revenue has a significant positive influence on economic accretion. Economic increases has a significant positive influence on poverty. Village Funds have a significant positive indirect impact on poverty by way of economic growth. Original Government Revenue has a significant positive indirect influence on poverty through economic increases.Originality/Values: Economic growth must be encouraged because it is able to mediates village funds and original local government revenue towards poverty in regencies/cities In East Java.

The Effect of Self-Efficacy and Learning Independence on Students Mathematical Reasoning Ability

The purpose of the research is to determine 1) Direct influence of self-efficacy on students' math reasoning ability 2) the Direct influence of learning independence on the ability of mathematical reasoning 3) the Direct influence of self-efficacy on student self-reliance 4). The indirect effect of self-efficacy on mathematical reasoning ability through student learning independence. This research used a survey method. The independent variables bound to this research are Self Efficacy (X1), Learning Independence (X2), and Mathematical Reasoning Ability (X3). The research method used surveys. The sample used is 100 students as a research sample by using a proportional random sampling technique from all students of class VII of National Junior High School in Bekasi City. The data were collected using math-reasoning test and self-efficacy questionnaire and learning independence. Hypothesis testing with path analysis (Path Analys). This study was conducted in January 2018. Based on the results of the hypothesis and data analysis concluded several things as follows (1) There is a direct influence of self-efficacy significant to the ability of mathematics reasoning of students of National Junior High School in Bekasi City. This is evidenced by the acquisition of tcount (4.615)> ttable (1.984). (2) There is a significant direct influence of learning independence to the students' math skills ability in National Junior High School in Bekasi City. This is evidenced by the acquisition of tcount (5.869)> ttable (1.984). (3) There is a direct influence of self-efficacy significantly to the independence of students studying National Junior High School in Bekasi City. This is evidenced by the acquisition of tcount (18,719) > ttable (1,984). (4) There is a significant indirect influence of self-efficacy of students to the ability of mathematical reasoning through the independence of students studying National Junior High School in Bekasi City. This is evidenced by the acquisition of tcount (6.4728) > ttable (1.984). The implications of this research are 1). To improve the ability of mathematical reasoning can be done by improving self-efficacy and student learning independence. 2) to improve learning independence is done by improving self-efficacy.

Nurses' intention and attitude to participate in advance care planning: An extended theory of planned behaviour using structural equation modelling–A cross‐sectional study

AbstractAimsThis study aimed to investigate the factors influencing nurses' intentions to participate in advance care planning (ACP) by examining the mediating roles of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioural control in the relationship between knowledge and intention, using an extended theory of planned behaviour and structural equation modelling.MethodsA descriptive cross‐sectional survey was conducted between January and April 2023, involving 515 registered nurses, selected through two‐stage sampling. Data were collected using a self‐administered online survey distributed via the internal communication system of hospital. Structural equation Modelling was employed to analyse the relationships among knowledge, attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioural control and intention to participate in ACP.ResultsThe results supported two hypotheses regarding the relationships between knowledge, attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioural control, and intention (p < 0.05). While the direct effect of knowledge on intention was not significant (β = 0.087, p = 0.292), the total indirect effect through attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control was significant (β = 0.449, p < 0.001), accounting for approximately 83.77% of the total effect on intention. This underscores the critical role of these mediators in influencing nurses' intention to participate in ACP.ConclusionsThis study highlights the significant indirect influence of knowledge on nurses' intentions to participate in ACP through attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control. These findings suggest that targeted educational is needed to enhance ACP participation among nurses.Implications for the Profession and/or Patient CareUnderstanding the role of attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control can enhance nursing practice. Creating supportive environments and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration are crucial. Professional development through training, mentorship and role modelling can empower nurses in ACP. Comprehensive programs that increase knowledge and foster positive attitudes are essential for advancing ACP practice among nurses.ImpactEducational programs aimed at nurses should include components designed to strengthen knowledge and the identified mediators, equipping nurses with the necessary ACP skills. Self-Efficacy, Anxiety, and Emotional Intelligence: Do They Contribute to Speaking Performance?

Speaking demands self-confidence and composure when dealing with other people. Furthermore, communicating in English is a big barrier for many students due to self-efficacy, anxiety, and emotional intelligence. This study examined direct and indirect variable contributions. This path analysis study used multiple regression and mediated model. This study involved 128 of the tenth graders students at SMA Senopati, Sidoarjo. To collect the data, the instruments used a closed-ended questionnaire about self-efficacy, anxiety, emotional intelligence and speaking test. This study yielded seven conclusions. First, self-efficacy had a weak effect on speaking performance (estimate =.128, p-value.000). The estimate value of.506, p-value.001, showed that self-efficacy contributes significantly to emotional intelligence. Anxiety's contribution to emotional intelligence was minimal (estimate value -.397, p-value.005). The fourth finding showed that anxiety directly affects speaking performance (estimate value -.069), p-value.000. The fifth finding showed that emotional intelligence had a weak effect on speaking performance (estimate value.034, p-value.004). Significant indirect influence of self-efficacy through emotional intelligence on speaking performance (Sobel test=2.1220>1.96, p-value 0.033<.05). Anxiety indirectly affects speaking performance through emotional intelligence (Sobel test=-.2.0043>1.96, p-value 0.045<.05).

Perceived supervisor support dan job insecurity dengan change engagement pada karyawan Badan Usaha Milik Negara: Menguji peran mediasi self-efficacy

This writing aims to find out whether there is a correlation between perceived supervisor support and job insecurity on change engagement and self-efficacy as a mediator variable for Indonesian BUMN employees. This research involved 351 employees of state-owned companies who were determined using accidental sampling techniques. The research instrument used four scales, namely the Change Engagement Scale, the short version of the Scale of Perceived Supervisor Support (SPSS), the short version of the Job Insecurity Scale (JIS), and the Occupational Self Efficacy Short Version Scale. Data analysis in this writing uses path analysis using Jamovi. Based on the results of data analysis, there is a direct and indirect influence between perceived supervisor support on change engagement through self-efficacy, but there is no significant direct or indirect influence of job insecurity on change engagement through self-efficacy. The results of this research can be a reference for companies, especially BUMN regarding the importance of change engagement and other factors in intervening in organizations and employees.

THE INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING ON BRAND EQUITY MEDIATED BY E-WOM (ELECTRONIC WORD OF MOUTH) ON HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS

Social media is a media that frequently used to share picture, text, and video information. In 2019, social media users in the entire world popu-lation has reached 50% and it keep increasing. This rapid development of social media has affected the marketing strategy of healthcare providers, especially in implementing digital-based marketing strategies. A healthcare provider’s social media activity is thought to be helpful to pro-spective consumers in assessing the quality of a healthcare provider. The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of social media marketing on brand equity through electronic word of mouth (E-WOM) as a mediating variable in healthcare providers. To achieve this goal, a questionnaire has been made based on previous literature with a sample of 107 respondents distributed online.Theresultsofstructuralequation modeling using SEM-PLS analysis show that Social media marketing has a favorable and sig-nificant direct and indirect influence on brand equity, mediated by E-WOM. Therefore, this study can be a foundation for healthcare providers to be able to apply marketing behavior through social media to develop health services.

The Influence of Knowledge Management and Motivation on Job Satisfaction and Employee Performance in the Population and Civil Registration Office of DKI Jakarta Province

This study aims to analyze the influence of Knowledge Management (KM) and motivation on employee job satisfaction and performance at the Population and Civil Registration Office of DKI Jakarta Province. The analytical method used is Partial Least Squares (PLS), a statistical approach capable of handling complex structural models with relatively small samples. Data collection method through a survey of 150 employees randomly selected from various work units at the Population and Civil Registration Office of DKI Jakarta Province. Using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach to test the relationships between variables, the survey instrument used has been validated and its reliability tested before distribution. The results of the analysis indicate that there is a positive and significant influence of Knowledge Management (KM) on employee motivation. Additionally, motivation also has a positive and significant effect on employee job satisfaction and performance. However, the direct influence of Knowledge Management (KM) on job satisfaction is not significant. The analysis also shows that there is a positive and significant indirect influence of Knowledge Management (KM) on employee performance through motivation. These findings provide practical implications for management at the Population and Civil Registration Office of DKI Jakarta Province in managing Knowledge Management (KM) and motivating employees to enhance their job satisfaction and performance. This study also contributes to the literature in the field of human resource management and Knowledge Management.

Validation of the Chinese version of the diabetes health profile to predict the impact of mobile health education on quality of life in type 2 diabetes patients.

The Diabetes Health Profile (DHP18), initially created in the United Kingdom, currently lacks a Chinese version. This study endeavors to authenticate the Chinese adaptation of the DHP18 and assess the influence of mobile health (mHealth) education intervention on the quality of life of individuals living with diabetes. The study included 470 Type 2 diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients (204 men, 266 women), spanning an age range of 19-79 years, with an average age of 54 ± 12.40 years. Data analysis employed Jamovie and Mplus software. Moreover, test-retest reliability was evaluated in 52 hospitalized T2DM patients through two repeated measurements taken 4 weeks apart. The Chinese version DHP18 scale exhibited high reliability, evidenced by a Cronbach's alpha of 0.88, and coefficient of test-retest reliability of 0.84. Individual subscales also demonstrated strong reliability, ranging from 0.76 to 0.84, with test-retest reliability spanning from 0.71 to 0.74. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) employing a three-factor structure (χ2 = 294.69, GFI = 0.92, TLI = 0.91, RMSEA = 0.05, SRMR = 0.06) validated the scale's construct validity. Notably, there was a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) in the quality of life between Type 2 diabetes patients using mHealth education intervention and those without mHealth education intervention. Mediation analysis revealed that Appraisal of Diabetes (ADS) and Self-Management Efficacy (SED) mediated the effects of Psychological Distress (PD) and Behavior Adherence (BA) on quality of life, both significant direct and indirect effects (p < 0.001). In addition, Dietary Abstinence (DE) displayed significant overall impact (β = -0.13, p < 0.001) and indirect influence (β = -0.10, p < 0.01) on diabetic patients' quality of life, though lacking a significant direct effect (β = -0.03, p = 0.38). The Chinese version of the Diabetes Health Profile Scale meets stringent psychometric standards and stands as an appropriate measurement tool for Chinese T2DM patients, maintaining comparable results to the original scale's structure. The mHealth education intervention yielded a notably positive impact on the quality of life among T2DM patients. Mediation analysis revealed that the three dimensions of the DHP were mediated by Appraisal of Diabetes and Diabetes Self-Management Efficacy, partially mediated by Psychological Distress and Behavior Adherence, and fully mediated by Dietary Abstinence, providing insight into the positive effects of the mHealth model on the quality of life of diabetic patients.

Influence of supply chain management on the sustainable construction industry in Algeria

The construction industry, a pivotal business sector facilitating physical infrastructure and equipment provision, holds a significant indirect influence on diverse industries. This study investigates the role of supply chain management in enhancing sustainable construction practices within the Algerian construction industry. The research delves into the relationship between traditional supply chain management and sustainable construction, employing a quantitative approach. Data collection involved a survey comprising 61 items, utilizing a five-point Likert scale, gathered through an online survey method targeting managers, supervisors, executives, and suppliers in the Algerian construction industry. With 237 participants from construction companies in Algeria, the study utilized Smart PLS for data analysis, confirming a positive relationship between traditional supply chain management and sustainable construction through partial least squares (PLS) path analysis. The findings provide valuable insights for future stakeholders, guiding employers, designers, manufacturers, contractors, and suppliers to enhance supply chain management practices for sustainable construction in Algeria. Consequently, this study offers significant results with practical and theoretical implications, contributing to the integration of sustainable supply chain management in Algerian construction. In summary, the research addresses the relationship challenges between traditional supply chain management and sustainable construction practices in Algeria.

Association of quantitative traits and genetic diversity in Ethiopian sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) genotypes

To enhance sesame yield, it is important to utilize diverse parents in breeding programs and implement an effective selection procedure, which exploits the association of quantitative traits. Therefore, the objective of this experiment was to explore the correlation among quantitative traits and assess genetic variability and diversity using both qualitative and quantitative traits. Correlation coefficients indicated a noteworthy (P < 0.001) positive phenotypic (rp) and genotypic (rg) correlation between seed yield and various traits: plant height (rp = 0.60; rg = 0.58), length of the capsule-bearing zone (rp = 0.77; rg = 0.80), number of capsules on the main stem (rp = 0.80; rg = 0.85), primary branches (rp = 0.66; rg = 0.66), and capsules per plant (rp = 0.90; rg = 0.91). In contrast, a negative correlation (P < 0.001) was observed between yield and bacterial blight disease severity, both phenotypically (rp = −0.60) and genotypically (rg = −0.76). The analysis of path coefficients indicated that the most substantial positive direct effect on yield (0.77) was attributed to capsules per plant, whereas other traits associated with yield exhibited a significant indirect influence on yield through capsules per plant. Qualitative traits exhibited diversity, except for plant growth type, plant growth habit, and stem branching. Shannon-Weaner (H) and Simpson (1-D) diversity indices were higher for interior corolla color (H = 1.63; 1-D = 0.66), seed color (H = 1.50; 1-D = 0.46), and capsule beak type (H = 1.08; 1-D = 0.50). The analysis of variance indicated a notable variation among the examined genotypes regarding quantitative traits, excluding internode length. The plant materials were divided into five clusters through cluster analysis, where clusters I to V consisted of 21, 29, 4, 4, and 6 genotypes, respectively. The current study has shown that the yield of sesame can be enhanced through indirect selection for traits associated with yield, particularly the highest number of capsules per plant. Furthermore, examinations of genetic diversity confirmed the presence of variability within the assessed genotypes, providing valuable insights for upcoming sesame breeding programs.

Enhancing user adoption and satisfaction: A study of factors influencing CliQ payment service in the fintech market

This study explores the factors affecting CliQ payment service adoption in Jordan as it represents a major shift in the Jordanian market to Fintech and mobile marketing. This study presented a distinctive model by integrating the “unified theory of acceptance” and the “technology acceptance model” TAM with the “use of technology UTAUT” to measure the behavioral intention of consumers and the satisfaction of the users towards utilizing the CliQ service. The study measured the linkage between four predictors (perceived usefulness, social influence, perceived ease of use, and financial risk) as well as both utilizers’ intention to CliQ service usage and utilizers’ satisfaction with using the service, along with observing the association between these predictors to determine their contribution to the users’ satisfaction mediated by the users’ intention to utilize the service mentioned above. A survey instrument was distributed to 604 respondents, and it was developed and validated by academics, as a pilot test. As well as a pre-test. Hypotheses were tested with multiple linear regression analysis using SmartPLS software to interpret path coefficients, and reliability and validity within the outer model were tested through correlation analysis. Additionally, internal consistency was explored by applying Cronbach’s alpha. The outcomes proved that the predictors significantly affect both utilizers’ behavioral attitudes and satisfaction with using the CliQ service, except for financial risk. The data analysis also indicated a significant indirect influence of all the independent variables on utilizers’ satisfaction through behavioral intention to utilize the CliQ service, except for financial risk, which had an insignificant indirect influence on utilizers’ satisfaction through behavioral intention for service usage. The findings of the current article close the gap found in the literature concerning measuring usability to enhance user satisfaction and adoption of Fintech services. Therefore, bank managers and policy planners can find insights for developing and improving mobile banking apps.

Fake news and youngsters’ decision journey: An evaluation of the influence of misinformation on social media

Purpose: Social media has changed the way users interact with each other, and has become an important part of numerous lives. However, there is an increasing flow of implausible content circulating on social media, which points to the need for some categorization and regulation. This study will examine how the proliferation of fake news on social media impacts students and their choice of university. To answer this question, market research was conducted on the precedents that affect the acceptance of fake news among university students when choosing to study for a master's degree that will help them in their professional careers.Design/methodology/approach: The study used a quantitative method. A parsimonious model of causal relationships was proposed based on scales taken from the literature, assessed by a convenience sample of students, and adjusted by structural equation modelling (SEM).Findings: Results show that the parsimonious model explains 35% of fake news acceptance and that media dependency (ISMD) and parasocial interaction (PSI) are the main direct effects, while perceived media richness (PR) has a significant indirect influence on the attitude towards fake news and, consequently, on its acceptance. Furthermore, fake news literacy plays a correct moderating role with the most relevant source of influence, SNS dependency.Research limitations: A convenience sample was used, and a parsimonious model with three antecedent factors and one mediating factor was proposed. Other social factors could have been considered, including multicultural variables.Practical implications: The results point to students' expressed dependence on social networks as the main factor explaining their attitude towards fake news, negatively moderated by students' level of knowledge about the importance of this phenomenon in social networks. Therefore, it is relevant to promote knowledge about this phenomenon among students to reduce its influence on decision-making processes.Originality/value: This paper provides a novel context for the study of the proliferation of fake news on social networks: the process of choosing a university by students addicted to the news circulating on social media.

Investigating consumer's buying behaviour of green products through the lenses of extended theory of planned behaviour

PurposeThe study aims to predict the drivers of green purchase in extended theory of planned behaviour (TPB) by investigating direct and indirect role of consumers' attitude toward green purchase along with moderating effects of green trust and willingness to pay on purchase behaviour in an emerging market.Design/methodology/approachA total of 417 useable responses were recorded from three different states of north India to resolve the issues related to demographic diversity in country by using a structured questionnaire. Structural equation modelling, mediation and moderation analyses were used to investigate the hypothesised relationships.FindingsThe research unveiled that environmental concern, subjective norm have significant direct and indirect influence on green purchase intention via attitude. Furthermore, this study also elucidates that green trust significantly moderates attitude–behaviour, and intention–behaviour relationships, whereas willingness to pay does not significantly moderate these relationships in proposed model.Practical implicationsThis study provides interesting insights regarding consumers of emerging market toward green purchase. These insights are useful for marketers to design more focused strategies for enhancing the consumers' preferences for green products and promotion of pro-environmental behaviour in emerging markets.Originality/valueThe novel insights of this study are the mediating role of attitude in an emerging market in extended TPB model and exploration of the moderating role of green trust and willingness to pay premium to reduce the attitude–behaviour and intention–behaviour gaps for enhancing the consumers' preferences for green purchase.
