The History Compilation of Muscovite and the Making of 'Russia' in the XV-XVI centuries: In the Perspective of Religious Cultural Conflict

본 논문의 목적은 15-16세기 모스크바국이 주변 공국들과 칸국들을 병합하는 과정에서 모스크바 대공이 통치하는 ‘하나의 러시아’라는 개념을 만들기 위해 어떻게 역사 서술을 이용했는지 추적하는 것이다. 또한 그 과정에서 루시의 종교문화가 어떻게 다른 문화와 충돌하고 있는지 고찰함으로써 중앙집권국가의 형성에서 종교권력과 국가권력이 역할을 조명하는 것이다. ‘루시’라는 명칭에서 ‘러시아’라는 명칭으로의 전환은 명백히 중앙집권국가의 형성과 관련이 있다. 먼저 국가 권력이 약했던 시기에 루시 정교회에서 유라시아 중앙의 정교 주민들을 통합하는 개념으로 ‘하나의 러시아 교회’라는 명칭을 사용 했다. 그러나 점차 모스크바 대공이 강력한 중앙집권국가로 성장하는 과정에서 통합한 여러 공국들을 아우르는 ‘하나의 러시아 국가’라는 개념을 사용하게 되었다. 모스크바 공국은 중앙집권국가로 성장하면서 병합한 지역들을 합법적으로 통치하고, 또한 대공의 통치를 정당화하기 위해서 역사편찬에 많은 공을 들였다. 그리고 정교회 성직자들이 그 일의 선봉에 섰다. 모스크바 대공과 키예프 루시와의 연관관계가 과장되었고, 비잔티움 황제와의 억지 인연이 만들어졌고, 나아가 로마의 아우구스투스와의 관계까지 조작되었다. 이로써 모스크바 대공은 키예프 유산의 정당한 상속자이며, 루시 세계의 차르가 되었고, 신이 선택한 절대군주가 되었다. 또한 ‘아’와 ‘타’를 적대적으로 구분하여 모스크바 주변의 이슬람 타타르 주민들은 사악한 세력으로 규정되었고, 신의 계시에 의해 정복해야 할 대상이 되었다. 그러나 이러한 성직자들이 제작한 국정 역사서는 루시 세계의 일반 주민들의 시각과는 중요한 측면에서 달랐다. 익명의 저자가 쓴 <카잔 연대기>나 당대의 민요들에 나타난 일반 루시 주민들은 ‘차르권의 이동’을 통해 중북부 유라시아 평원에 평화가 오기를 염원했지만, 비기독교 이웃들에 대해 적대적이지는 않았다.The purpose of this paper is to investigate how Rus church and state was making the concept of ‘a unified Russia’ in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The shift from ‘Rus ’ to ‘Russia’ was apparently related with the formation of Rus centralized state. Russian orthodox church used first a term Russia as a undivided Rus archdiocese in the end of fourteenth century. But Muscovite state started using the term with development of centralized state in the second half of fifteenth century. But just a concept Russia only could not make a cohesive Russian state. In the formation of a unified Russia as a true nature Russian church played the very important role. Particularly, Russian christian rituals was the definitive measure for distinguishing Rus from a Catholic of West, a Muslin of South, and nomads of East. Rus retained the self-identity, eating, drinking, enjoying religious feast in the same ways, that Russian church have decided. Muscovite state put a lot of effort in history compilation to acquire the legitimacy of rule over the annexed territory, to justify the tsar power of princes of Muscovy as heir to Byzantine emperor. Priests of Russian church were in the vanguard of writing of chronicles. The relationships of the prince of Muscovy with the princes of Kievan Rus and the Augustus of Roma were fabricated. Muscovite prince became the rightful successor to czar s throne, and God s chosen absolute monarch. Like this, the compilation of chronicle played a very important role in the making of Russian state.

Dubrovački Antunin Galeaco Brunjoli iz Mantove

The economic development of Dubrovnik from the end of fourteenth century and the start of textile manufacturing in the second half of fifteenth century encouraged the massive arrival of foreigners. Many Italian experts were motivated by the measures of Ragusan government which offered them privileges, loans and commercial spaces. One of them was Giorgio Brugnoli, a nobleman from Mantua, who had came with his family in Dubrovnik. His son Galeazzo Brugnoli, the subject of this work, once was the most significant textile manufacturer and merchant . Thanks to his business and family reputation he became the mem­ber of well-known antunini. In three mandates he led this prominent corporation. Almost the entire life Galeazzo Brugnoli tied to Dubrovnik, where he formed his family and ended his life. His descendants continued successfully his business until their family died out, 227 years after their arrival.
