  • Renuka Kamath + 3 more

Purpose Channel conflict (CC) is a pervasive and challenging issue that managers frequently encounter. Researchers have been investigating CC for over fifty years, particularly relevant now with digitalization enabling firms to go direct-to-consumer (D2C). Given this influx of digital technologies, this study aims to systematically document the accumulated knowledge that aids managers in addressing these challenges while guiding researchers in future inquiries. Design/methodology/approach The study analyzes 489 research articles from the Scopus database. Through science mapping and performance analysis techniques, the study reveals the intellectual structure of CC research by examining its contributions and interrelationships. To enrich our findings, the study conducts in-depth interviews with industry experts. Findings The study identifies six key themes: multichannel conflict resulting from technological integration, pricing, partner dynamics, franchising relationships, supply chain coordination and consumer choice. Furthermore, it highlights gaps for future research based on these themes and the subsequent technology-driven disintermediation. Research limitations/implications The study demonstrates that offline-first and digital-first firms experience disintermediation and intermediation, which exacerbates CC. The results yield four configurations that elucidate the CC phenomenon stemming from these firms’ adoption of digital and offline channels. This technology-driven disintermediation, prompted by supplier encroachment, bypassing intermediaries, intensifies CC, leading us to propose future research questions. Originality/value This is a comprehensive review of CC literature with implications for business-to-business and channel managers. The findings are based on a multi-method analysis using bibliometrics analysis and in-depth interviews.

  • Frontiers in Environmental Science
  • Isaac Mensah + 3 more

Refuse-derived fuel (RDF) gasification presents a promising pathway for sustainable municipal solid waste (MSW) management and renewable energy generation, while aligning with the principles of the circular economy. Despite its growing relevance, structured reviews of RDF gasification remain limited. This study is novel in its integration of bibliometric science mapping with systematic literature review (SLR) methodologies, providing both a quantitative mapping of research trends and a qualitative synthesis of thematic clusters—an approach not previously applied to RDF gasification. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA 2020) protocol, a bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer to examine citation patterns by documents and author keyword co-occurrence. A total of 257 peer-reviewed articles published from 1986 to 2025 were retrieved from Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection databases. Next, the SLR then narrowed this to 195 articles published from 2015 to 2025 (10-year period). In addition, five relevant peer-reviewed articles were independently retrieved from Google Scholar and incorporated into the SLR dataset to enrich the qualitative analysis. The bibliometric analysis identified the most influential publications, authors, journals, and five thematic research clusters in RDF gasification. The systematic analysis revealed that RDF gasification is both economically viable and environmentally beneficial, though its commercial success depends on factors such as plant scale and consistent feedstock supply, among others. Key technical drivers include feedstock optimization, catalyst–temperature interactions, contaminants abatement, and process integration. Future research should prioritize multi-criteria optimization of RDF gasification systems, including the integration of techno-economic and life cycle assessments to inform policy and investment decisions. This review advances understanding of RDF gasification and supports progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and 13 (Climate Action), offering a strategic foundation for guiding future research, policy, and investment in sustainable energy solutions.

  • Deepa M + 1 more

Investor emotions are increasingly recognized as central determinants of financial decision-making, yet the evidence base remains dispersed across behavioral finance, psychology, information systems, and data-driven market analytics. This study maps the intellectual structure, thematic evolution, and emerging research frontiers of scholarship on investor emotions and financial decision-making through a bibliometric investigation of Scopus-indexed publications retrieved using the search string. Also Using performance analysis and science mapping, the study synthesizes annual scientific production, citation dynamics, and source distribution, complemented by co-citation, bibliographic coupling, and keyword co-occurrence networks generated via established bibliometric tools (e.g., VOSviewer and Bibliometrix/Biblioshiny). Results indicate a clear growth trajectory with modest output during 2010–2017, consolidation during 2018–2022, and a sharp expansion during 2023–2025, while average citations per year peak in earlier cohorts, reflecting citation-window effects. The co-citation structure reveals three foundational knowledge bases: (i) behavioral finance and investor psychology, (ii) affective decision science and emotion regulation perspectives, and (iii) digitally mediated sentiment and information effects. Bibliographic coupling identifies active research fronts anchored by highly influential synthesis work and extending into applied bias research and computational sentiment analytics. Keyword co-occurrence further demonstrates three dominant thematic clusters: behavioral finance and investment decision biases; psychological and survey/experimental emotion research; and data-driven sentiment analysis linked to information systems, big data, and electronic trading. Overall, the findings show a field transitioning toward interdisciplinary integration and scalable emotion measurement, with emerging frontiers in social media-driven investing, retail investor psychology, and emotion-aware AI. The study provides a structured roadmap for future theory development, methodological triangulation, and context-specific research in technology-mediated and high-volatility markets.

From adoption to accountability: a 1997–2024 bibliometric cartography of ICT in SMEs with accounting & sustainability overlays
  • Feb 1, 2026
  • Journal of Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Aldila Dinanti + 2 more

Abstract This study investigates the performance and science mapping of ICT adoption in SMEs through a bibliometric analysis of Scopus-indexed publications. We examine how the ICT-in-SMEs literature evolved over 1997–2024 and where accounting and sustainability themes are situated within that corpus. Proxies are operationalized via author and index keywords, co-word structures, and controlled overlays linking ERP, e-invoicing, and cloud to sustainability-accounting mechanisms (measurement, reporting, assurance). The dataset comprised 450 records (1997–2024), of which 442 English-language documents were analyzed; computation and visualization used Biblioshiny (bibliometrix, R) and VOSviewer. We trace the field’s evolution—particularly how ICT underpins accounting for sustainability—identifying key intellectual structures, turning points, and emerging themes. Results show Alshamaila et al. (J Enterp Inf Manag 26(3):250–275, 2013. https://doi.org/10.1108/17410391311325225 ) as the most-cited document (577 citations, Journal of Enterprise Information Management ; as of 28 May 2024); the same journal records the highest local H-index; Rogers and Venkatesh are prominent cited authors; “information and communication technologies” is the most frequent topic; and the United Kingdom emerges as a collaboration hub. Beyond mapping, we interpret platform-centric themes (ERP, e-invoicing/e-commerce, cloud) as digital accounting infrastructures that generate auditable sustainability information (e.g., cost/energy/material accounts, supplier compliance, payment traceability). We integrate thematic clusters with TOE/DOI mechanisms to explain antecedents of these data-generating routines in SMEs. The findings guide future research and adoption strategies, advancing SDG-oriented accountability through efficient, effective digital accounting records.

Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creative (4Cs) in TVET: A Bibliometric Analysis and Systematic Literature Review
  • Jan 31, 2026
  • Universal Education Journal of Teaching and Learning
  • Muhammad Reyza Arief Taqwa + 2 more

This article maps research trends, key contributors, and thematic structures of the 4Cs—communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity—within Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), while synthesizing experimental efforts to enhance these skills. It addresses a documented gap by combining bibliometric performance analysis and science mapping (RQ1–RQ6) with a systematic review of intervention studies (RQ7). A total of 3,246 documents were obtained, of which 1,655 documents were analyzed bibliometrically, and 32 documents were analyzed through a systematic literature review after screening and applying inclusion/exclusion criteria. The 4Cs–TVET research shows a continuous surge with “communication skills” as the driving theme and creativity relatively unexplored, indicating a thematic focus that still leans toward social competencies. In general, 4Cs–TVET research involves many researchers from various institutions and countries, showing that this research has become a global focus. However, the findings indicate that participation is concentrated in developed and middle-income countries, whereas least developed countries (LDCs) remain underrepresented in this research area. Experimental efforts to improve the 4Cs are spread across five approaches (technology/online, collaborative-interprofessional, gamification, project-based/active learning, simulation), but 56.25% target only one skill—collaboration being the most dominant—and only 6.25% integrate all 4Cs, indicating the need for more holistic intervention design.
