In this report novel material Cerium doped Mn–Biferrite nanoparticles were synthesized by adopting a modified solution combustion route. X-ray diffraction patterns confirm the spinel cubic structure with single phase having space group Fd3m. The crystallite size decreases with increase in Ce3+ concentration. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs show that the particles are agglomerated. The humidity sensing properties were investigated through resistance measurements, sensing response, recovery time, hysteresis and stability studies measurements. As per investigation the resistance decreases with increase in relative humidity from 11% to 97%. The sensing response values increases with increase in Ce3+ concentration. The response and recovery time study reveals the sample have quick response and recovery time. The magnetic hysteresis curves revealed that synthesized samples exhibits ferrimagnetic nature, the saturation magnetization and remanent magnetization decreases with the increase in Ce3+ concentration. Hence synthesized materials are good candidate for humidity sensor applications.
