Systematic quantitative literature review of the dialogic pedagogy literature

This systematic quantitative literature review was conducted to analyse and synthesise the extant corpus of knowledge on dialogic pedagogy within school settings, and thus identify theoretical and methodological gaps in the literature, which might suggest new avenues for research. A search of eight databases (2014–2020) revealed an initial pool of 2443 papers, which was reduced to 61 after screening for eligibility. An analysis of the 61 papers was framed around the following questions: What is the dominant mode of classroom discourse (monologic or dialogic) reported in the literature? Where is dialogic pedagogy being researched? Who are the dominant voices in the field? and Which year levels and school subjects have been examined using which methodologies? A key finding of the analysis was the absence of substantial research by Australian or New Zealand authors, specifically where mathematics education is concerned. Similarly, there is little investigation focusing on the early years of schooling. While some education areas have been well researched with regard to dialogic pedagogy, further work is required that focuses on areas such as the early years of schooling; non-science contexts; and the use of qualitative research methods.

Investigating Ecotourism Opportunities Measurements in a Complex Adaptive System: A Systematic Literature Review

Identifying and quantifying ecotourism opportunities are critical processes in sustainable tourism planning, which is challenging, since ecotourism is a Complex Adaptive System (CAS). This study investigated Ecotourism Opportunities Measurements (EOMs) in the literature and mapped the research trends to provide practical implications for research in this area. A systematic quantitative literature review began with a scientometric analysis in CiteSpace to examine the existing knowledge and the state of the art in EOMs. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol was then applied to refine the initial search results, and snowballing was used to collect additional articles. The refined set was then thematically coded and quantitatively analyzed. Our findings show that existing studies on ecotourism opportunities predominantly focus on the impacts of ecotourism on the environment, stakeholders’ contributions toward ecotourism development, sustainability, and responsible behavior of local communities in ecotourism promotion. In addition, five dimensions have been identified under which ecotourism opportunities can be measured, including nature, environmental education/protection, sustainability, socio-cultural benefits, and tourist satisfaction. Existing scales or indices assess potential destinations qualitatively rather than quantitatively. In contrast, an index-based approach might help to solve the challenges of evaluating ecotourism opportunities as a CAS, as well as to quantitatively assess potential destinations to support decision-making related to ecotourism promotion.

Sampling Twitter users for social science research: evidence from a systematic review of the literature

All social media platforms can be used to conduct social science research, but Twitter is the most popular as it provides its data via several Application Programming Interfaces, which allows qualitative and quantitative research to be conducted with its members. As Twitter is a huge universe, both in number of users and amount of data, sampling is generally required when using it for research purposes. Researchers only recently began to question whether tweet-level sampling—in which the tweet is the sampling unit—should be replaced by user-level sampling—in which the user is the sampling unit. The major rationale for this shift is that tweet-level sampling does not consider the fact that some core discussants on Twitter are much more active tweeters than other less active users, thus causing a sample biased towards the more active users. The knowledge on how to select representative samples of users in the Twitterverse is still insufficient despite its relevance for reliable and valid research outcomes. This paper contributes to this topic by presenting a systematic quantitative literature review of sampling plans designed and executed in the context of social science research in Twitter, including: (1) the definition of the target populations, (2) the sampling frames used to support sample selection, (3) the sampling methods used to obtain samples of Twitter users, (4) how data is collected from Twitter users, (5) the size of the samples, and (6) how research validity is addressed. This review can be a methodological guide for professionals and academics who want to conduct social science research involving Twitter users and the Twitterverse.

A systematic literature review of data literacy education

Given the lack of data-literate talent in business organizations, there is a need to develop more effective data literacy education at university level. With the aim of informing improvement, a systematic, quantitative literature review of data literacy education was undertaken. The review of 71 articles revealed that data literacy education predominantly relies on existing learning theories and teaching strategies, lacks empirical studies, and lacks agreement about what competencies constitute data literacy. These findings highlight the need for empirical research to establish what needs to be taught and how it can be best taught.

Big Data Management Algorithms, Deep Learning-Based Object Detection Technologies, and Geospatial Simulation and Sensor Fusion Tools in the Internet of Robotic Things

The objective of this systematic review was to analyze the recently published literature on the Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT) and integrate the insights it articulates on big data management algorithms, deep learning-based object detection technologies, and geospatial simulation and sensor fusion tools. The research problems were whether computer vision techniques, geospatial data mining, simulation-based digital twins, and real-time monitoring technology optimize remote sensing robots. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) guidelines were leveraged by a Shiny app to obtain the flow diagram comprising evidence-based collected and managed data (the search results and screening procedures). Throughout January and July 2022, a quantitative literature review of ProQuest, Scopus, and the Web of Science databases was performed, with search terms comprising “Internet of Robotic Things” + “big data management algorithms”, “deep learning-based object detection technologies”, and “geospatial simulation and sensor fusion tools”. As the analyzed research was published between 2017 and 2022, only 379 sources fulfilled the eligibility standards. A total of 105, chiefly empirical, sources have been selected after removing full-text papers that were out of scope, did not have sufficient details, or had limited rigor For screening and quality evaluation so as to attain sound outcomes and correlations, we deployed AMSTAR (Assessing the Methodological Quality of Systematic Reviews), AXIS (Appraisal tool for Cross-Sectional Studies), MMAT (Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool), and ROBIS (to assess bias risk in systematic reviews). Dimensions was leveraged as regards initial bibliometric mapping (data visualization) and VOSviewer was harnessed in terms of layout algorithms.

Aquaculture ethics: A systematic quantitative review and critical analysis of aquaculture ethics scholarship

AbstractThis paper investigates the ethical values, moral principles, methods and reform proposals in aquaculture ethics scholarship to develop a comprehensive and balanced list of aquaculture ethical principles. A Systematic Quantitative Literature Review methodology is employed to parse 150 journal articles on aquaculture ethics. Methodologies, specific ethical values, broad principles, recommended reforms and trends over time are quantified and assessed. Through analysis of invoked values and recommended reforms, six core marine economy ethics principles are identified: Environmental Protection, Fairness, Stakeholder Participation, Harm Prevention, Beneficence and Trustworthiness. A comprehensive multidimensional legitimacy model is employed to uncover ethical gaps and identify promising areas for future aquaculture ethics research.

Navigating to smoother regulatory waters for Australian commercial vessels capable of remote or autonomous operation: a systematic quantitative literature review

ABSTRACT A barrier to the deployment of autonomous vessels in Australia's commercial and defence context is the gap in understanding how existing regulatory frameworks apply and identifying a best-practice regulatory approach. This Systematic Quantitative Literature Review (SQLR) identifies and assesses relevant available literature from domestic and international resources concerning current and future regulation of domestic autonomous vessels in Australia and other nations. A standard methodology is used combining a traditional narrative review and a meta-analysis tailored for peer-reviewed literature. Only twenty research articles of varying origin, type and content were identified, highlighting a significant literature gap regarding domestic regulation of autonomous vessels in Australia and other nations. Filling the domestic literature gap is critical for further domestic regulatory development, particularly because of the growing range and functions of such vessels. The literature review undertaken supports the development of future best practice regulation, which will facilitate the ongoing development and use of autonomous vessels.

Big data in tourism marketing: past research and future opportunities

Purpose The purpose of this study was to uncover representative emergent areas and to examine the research area of marketing, tourism and big data (BD) to assess how these thematic areas have developed over a 27-year time period from 1996 to 2022. This study analyzed 1,152 studies to identify the principal thematic areas and emergent topics, principal theories used, predominant forms of analysis and the most productive authors in terms of research. Design/methodology/approach The articles for this research were all selected from the Web of Science database. A systematic and quantitative literature review was performed. This study used SciMAT software to extract indicators. Specifically, this study analyzed productivity and produced a science map. Findings The findings suggest that interest in this area has increased gradually. The outputs also reveal the innovative effort of industry in new technologies for developing models for tourism marketing. Ten research areas were identified: “destination marketing,” “mobility patterns,” “co-creation,” “gastronomy,” “sustainability,” “tourist behavior,” “market segmentation,” “artificial neural networks,” “pricing” and “tourist satisfaction.” Originality/value This work is unique in proposing an agenda for future research into tourism marketing research with new technologies such as BD and artificial intelligence techniques. In addition, the results presented here fill the current gap in the research since while there have been literature reviews covering tourism with BD or marketing, these areas have not been studied as a whole.

Teaching out-of-field in Home Economics: A Systematic Quantitative Literature Review

전문적으로 훈련받지 않은 과목의 교육(Out-of-Field Teaching [OOFT])은 학생의 학습 결과와 교사 감소에 영향을 미치는 세계적 현상이다. 일화적 증거에 따르면 가정과 교사의 부족이 OOFT를 유발하지만, 그럼에도 그 영향에 대한 연구는 거의 없다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 연구결과의 격차를 다루고 기준선을 설정하기 위해 체계적 정량적 문헌분석(SQLR)가 수행되었다. 선정기준은 중등학교 가정과교육 및 OOFT에 관한, 동료 심사를 거친, 전체 텍스트가 제공된 그리고 영어로 출간된 문헌이어야 한다. 출간 날짜는 제한 요인이 아니다. 아홉 개의 데이터베이스가 2022년 3월에 검색되었고, 제외 프로토콜에 따라 25개의 문헌이 유지되었다. 적격 논문은 13개국 저자의 1979년에서 2021년 사이에 출간된 문헌이었다. 다섯 개의 논문은 OOFT와 가정교과에만 초점을 두었다. OOFT를 설명하는 데 가장 많이 사용된 용어는 '적격/부적격' (n=19, 76%)이었다. 전 세계적으로 가장 많이 보고된 OOFT의 원인은 현장 가정과 교사의 부족이었다 (n=17, 68%). 학생들에게 미치는 영향에는 낮은 수준의 교육 경험이 포함되었다. OOF 교사의 자기효능감은 부정적 영향을 미쳤다. 학생, 교사, 그리고 학교에 미치는 영향은 서로 연결되어 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 가정교과 수업에서 OOFT의 원인과 영향을 이해하기 위한 기준선을 제공한다. 전반적으로, 이 연구의 주제 특히 보급률 및 보고된 경험과 관련하여 사용할 수 있는 데이터가 부족했다. 이러한 격차는, 특히 OOFT가 교사, 학생의 학습 결과 및 학교 운영에 부정적인 영향을 미치기 때문에 모든 교육 분야에서 점점 더 정밀한 감시를 받고 있는 상황에서, 가정교과에서의 OOFT에 대한 추가 연구가 필요함을 나타낸다. 본 연구는 또한 정책 입안자들이가정교과에서의 OOFT가 미치는 부정적인 영향을 인식하고 방지책을 찾는 행동을 보장하기 위한 옹호의 필요성을 확인하였다.

Artificial intelligence-based decision-making algorithms, Internet of Things sensing networks, and sustainable cyber-physical management systems in big data-driven cognitive manufacturing

Research background: With increasing evidence of cognitive technologies progressively integrating themselves at all levels of the manufacturing enterprises, there is an instrumental need for comprehending how cognitive manufacturing systems can provide increased value and precision in complex operational processes. Purpose of the article: In this research, prior findings were cumulated proving that cognitive manufacturing integrates artificial intelligence-based decision-making algorithms, real-time big data analytics, sustainable industrial value creation, and digitized mass production. Methods: Throughout April and June 2022, by employing Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) guidelines, a quantitative literature review of ProQuest, Scopus, and the Web of Science databases was performed, with search terms including ?cognitive Industrial Internet of Things?, ?cognitive automation?, ?cognitive manufacturing systems?, ?cognitively-enhanced machine?, ?cognitive technology-driven automation?, ?cognitive computing technologies,? and ?cognitive technologies.? The Systematic Review Data Repository (SRDR) was leveraged, a software program for the collecting, processing, and analysis of data for our research. The quality of the selected scholarly sources was evaluated by harnessing the Mixed Method Appraisal Tool (MMAT). AMSTAR (Assessing the Methodological Quality of Systematic Reviews) deployed artificial intelligence and intelligent workflows, and Dedoose was used for mixed methods research. VOSviewer layout algorithms and Dimensions bibliometric mapping served as data visualization tools. Findings & value added: Cognitive manufacturing systems is developed on sustainable product lifecycle management, Internet of Things-based real-time production logistics, and deep learning-assisted smart process planning, optimizing value creation capabilities and artificial intelligence-based decision-making algorithms. Subsequent interest should be oriented to how predictive maintenance can assist in cognitive manufacturing by use of artificial intelligence-based decision-making algorithms, real-time big data analytics, sustainable industrial value creation, and digitized mass production.

How Far Has Zakat Efficiency been Researched?

This study aims to determine research trends regarding zakat efficiency topic, assess research collaboration relationships, and identify future research directions. The 52 sample articles published between 2011-2022 on zakat efficiency analyzed by qualitative and quantitative approaches, namely Bibliometric and Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methods. This research uses VosViewers software. It is known that the four sub-themes that dominate research related to zakat efficiency are: Collection and distribution of zakat, Zakat efficiency, Zakat governance, and Zakat performance. This study implies that there is still little research on zakat efficiency theme. Malaysia is the country that has published the most articles about zakat efficiency topic.

Bibliometric Mapping of Islamic Letter of Credit using VOSviewer

This study aims to determine research trends regarding previous Islamic letters of credit, assess research collaboration relationships, and identify future research directions. Using 42 articles published between 2013-2020 on Islamic Letter of Credit. Using qualitative and quantitative approaches, namely Bibliometric and Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methods. This research uses Vos Viewers software. It is known that the three sub-themes that dominate research related to Islamic Letter of Credit are: Islamic Banking and Letter of Credit, Bank Regulation, and Business Financing. This study implies that there is still little research on Islamic Letters of Credit. It is hoped that Islamic Letters of Credit literature can adjust or find new methods that are suitable and accurate.

Understanding tourists’ transformative experience: A systematic literature review

Tourism has the potential to trigger lifelong changes through a transformative experience. However, existing tourists' transformative experience (TE) research has been criticized for lacking the embodied dimensions of transformative experiences leading to fragmented and contradictory views on what and where these experiences take place in the tourism context. Considering these criticisms coupled with the important role of transformative experience, this study systematically examines tourists' transformative experience literature to address the current knowledge gap. Adopting a quantitative systematic literature review approach, this paper aims to outline the research trends of tourists' transformative experiences and provide insights for future research. The findings suggest that more research concerning transformative experiences in tourism has been dedicated to volunteer tourism discourses as the context of volunteering offers a 'once in a lifetime' experience. The findings also point to a dearth of appropriate and comprehensive theoretical frameworks in the tourism context. The current study found that while transformative experiences are reflected in four dimensions of behavioral, psychological, social, and spiritual experiences; socio-psychological transformation experiences dominate. A research framework with future research questions unpacking possible theoretical and methodological directions is further proposed.

Remote Big Data Management Tools, Sensing and Computing Technologies, and Visual Perception and Environment Mapping Algorithms in the Internet of Robotic Things

The purpose of our systematic review was to inspect the recently published research on Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT) and harmonize the assimilations it articulates on remote big data management tools, sensing and computing technologies, and visual perception and environment mapping algorithms. The research problems were whether robotic manufacturing processes and industrial wireless sensor networks shape IoRT and lead to improved product quality by use of remote big data management tools, whether IoRT devices communicate autonomously regarding event modeling and forecasting by leveraging machine learning and clustering algorithms, sensing and computing technologies, and image processing tools, and whether smart connected objects, situational awareness algorithms, and edge computing technologies configure IoRT systems and cloud robotics in relation to distributed task coordination through visual perception and environment mapping algorithms. A Shiny app was harnessed for Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) guidelines to configure the flow diagram integrating evidence-based gathered and processed data (the search outcomes and screening procedures). A quantitative literature review of ProQuest, Scopus, and the Web of Science databases was carried out throughout June and October 2022, with search terms including “Internet of Robotic Things” + “remote big data management tools”, “sensing and computing technologies”, and “visual perception and environment mapping algorithms”. Artificial intelligence and intelligent workflows by use of AMSTAR (Assessing the Methodological Quality of Systematic Reviews), Dedoose, DistillerSR, and SRDR (Systematic Review Data Repository) have been deployed as data extraction tools for literature collection, screening, and evaluation, for document flow monitoring, for inspecting qualitative and mixed methods research, and for establishing robust outcomes and correlations. For bibliometric mapping by use of data visualization, Dimensions AI was leveraged and with regards to layout algorithms, VOSviewer was harnessed.

Establishing underpinning concepts for integrating circular economy and offsite construction: a bibliometric review

PurposeCircular economy (CE) and offsite construction (OSC) are two innovations for improving the construction industry's overall performance against a myriad of sustainability-driven agenda/initiatives. There is a real opportunity to conjoin OSC and CE to provide new insight and opportunities to deliver more evidence-based sustainable systems. This study analyses extant literature in CE and OSC (between 2000 and 2021) through a bibliometric review to tease out critical measures for their integration and transformation.Design/methodology/approachThis study adopts a science mapping quantitative literature review approach employing bibliometric and visualisation techniques to systematically investigate data. The Web of Science (WoS) database was used to collect data, and the VOSviewer software to analyse the data collected to determine strengths, weights, clusters and research trends in OSC and CE.FindingsImportant findings emerging from the study include extensive focus on sustainability, waste, life cycle assessment and building information modelling (BIM), which currently serve as strong interlinks to integrate OSC and CE. Circular business models, deconstruction and supply chain management are emerging areas, with strong links for integrating CE and OSC. These emerging areas influence organisational and operational decisions towards sustainable value creation, hence requiring more future empirical investigations.Originality/valueThis study is a novel research using bibliometric analysis to unpick underpinning conduits for integrating CE and OSC, providing a blueprint for circular OSC future research and practice. It provides the needed awareness to develop viable strategies for integrating CE in OSC, creating opportunities to transition to more sustainable systems in the construction sector.

Live projects: a mixed-methods exploration of existing scholarship

PurposeThis paper aims to investigate trends and themes within the literature pertaining to live projects, and in so doing, highlight possible areas of future exploration and research.Design/methodology/approachThis paper utilises a Systematic Quantitative Literature Review (SQLR) method, wherein keywords and phrases are entered into selected citation databases generating a reproducible list of literature. This is then refined using a specified list of criteria and read for relevance. The resulting literature forms the basis of qualitative and quantitative analyses and review.FindingsThe reviewed scholarship demonstrates a surge in publications since the early 2000s, with 75% of publications originating from the USA, Canada, or the UK Furthermore, themes related to live project definitions, outputs and rationales were examined, demonstrating that common factors such as “community”, “construction” and “pedagogy” are not mutually exclusive but tend to overlap, making the topic hard to define. These results also demonstrate a proclivity for projects with a built output. Barriers to live projects were also assessed, and it was found that administrative hurdles, such as time and budget constraints, were the biggest concern to live project practitioners. Finally, critical voices were examined and showed that live projects need to reflect on the nature of their engagement with the community.Research limitations/implicationsThis method, while capturing a substantial portion of the published scholarship, does not capture all live project literature due to limitations such as language and a strong focus on peer-reviewed publications. Furthermore, this research only captures literature that has been published. It does not reflect the variety and extent of live project activity occurring globally. For reasons such as unfamiliarity and inconsistencies with the use of live project terminologies, doubtless many unpublished live projects are conducted–yet not represented in these findings. This study may help live project execution by providing valuable examples of existing trends.Originality/valueThis paper captures the metadata from 110 live project publications, allowing for wide-ranging analysis, categorisation and discussion on the topic.

Dealing with the economic and psychological consequences of war: experience economy in local communities

Protected areas and other natural territories are very important part of the Ukrainian economy. Due to the numerous possibilities of protected areas, it can occupy a significant part of the post-war reconstruction's destinations.The methodological approaches of protected areas development are considered as tools of economic and innovative regional development and expansion of investment flows. The post-war market of Ukraine depends on the the recovery level of the country's population, because the innovative forms of economic activity launching presupposes the existence of a healthy society ready of reforms and changes.Taking into account given the above, it is actualized the necessity to find out the essence and role of the facilities of nature reserve fund in the system of balanced economically efficient use of nature, their place in the financial and market infrastructures, the definition of the investment potential of reserve areas. The investigation of the market without inter-study differences was conducted by a quantitative literature review (a meta-analysis). Forming indicators of the most vulnerable society groups were analyzed by the systematization method. The main vectors of innovative growth in the EU countries and the adapting possibility of these tools to the Ukrainian economy were formed by the comparative method. As a result of research, the author analyzed economic, organizational, environmental and social principles protected areas increasing, it is established is considered the protected areas as a code of multitask development and economic stimulation to coperate with business entities.

Investigating Flow in Motorcycle Tourism: A Review of Previous Research and Identification of Opportunities

Abstract This paper explores whether the psychological construct of flow plays an important role in shaping motorcycle tourism behavior and examines the relative success of methodologies previously used to model flow, in general. The systematic quantitative literature review (SQLR) method was applied. It is concluded that flow, the mental state, is likely a meaningful intrinsic motivator of motorcycle tourism. Limitations related to previous efforts to model this phenomenon are identified. Suggestions for future research on the role of flow in the motorcycle tourism context are provided with domain-specific methodological strategies outlined.

Factors affecting the adoption of contactless technologies in supply chain and logistics

Background: Digital transformation has significantly reinvented the systems and operations in the supply chain and logistics industries, enabling organisations within the industry to be able to deliver higher value to customers at a lower cost. Some of the technologies that have taken up the industry by the storm include contactless technologies such as radio frequency identification, near-field communication, mobile wallets, smart cards, touchless check-in and robots. Adoption of these technologies has grown exponentially since the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, as organisations were forced to transform business operations from physical to digital.Objective: The study objective was to explore factors affecting the adoption of contactless technologies in the supply chain and logistics industry. The study has adopted the technological, organisational and environmental (TOE) framework to explore the technological, organisational and environmental factors affecting the adoption of contactless technologies in the industry.Method: The study adopted the quantitative content analysis research design and systematic literature review method to explore factors affecting contactless technologies adoption in the supply chain and logistics industry. Furthermore, a literature matrix was developed and used as an instrument to explore the TOE factors affecting the adoption. After the collection of data, findings were presented and analysed.Conclusion: The results suggest that technical (cost, value and security), organisational (change and management) and environmental factors (customer demand) affect contactless technologies adoption in the supply chain and logistics industry. The study contributes to the body of knowledge of factors affecting the adoption of contactless technologies in the supply chain and logistics.

Types of innovation and artificial intelligence: A systematic quantitative literature review and research agenda

This study provides a systematic overview of innovation research strands revolving around AI. By adopting a Systematic Quantitative Literature Review (SQLR) approach, we retrieved articles published in academic journals, and analysed them using bibliometric techniques such as keyword co-occurrences and bibliographic coupling. The findings allow us to offer an up-to-date outline of existing literature that are embedded into an interpretative framework allowing to disentangle the key antecedents and consequences of AI in the context of innovation. Among the antecedents, we identify technological, social, and economic reasons leading firms to embrace AI to innovate. In addition to detecting the disciplinary foci, we also identify firms' product innovation, process innovation, business model innovation and social innovation, as key consequences of AI deployment. Drawing on the key findings from this study, we offer research directions for further investigation in relation to different types of innovation.
