Digital tools can enhance food safety and quality management in the dairy industry, but their adoption remains uneven. To assess industry needs for digital tools that support food safety and quality management, 23 food safety and quality professionals from 18 US dairy companies, representing all major US regions, were interviewed through the National Science Foundation Regional I-Corps program. The participants reported using digital tools for compliance, environmental monitoring programs (EMP), and predictive modeling. High priority needs they reported included facilitation of EMP and clear demonstration of return on investment. Larger companies were more likely to adopt digital tools, whereas representatives from smaller firms reported relying on paper-based systems or spreadsheets. Overall, the findings highlight key opportunities for digital tool development and provide guidance for future research and implementation of digital tools in the dairy industry.

Traditional computer vision-based quality perception lacks depth information, limiting its application to reliable food quality management in the post-harvest supply chain. Three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction technology captures detailed surface geometry and internal structural information for reliable non-destructive quality inspection. Combined with emerging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, 3D data-driven adaptive management brings potential for next-generation post-harvest quality management. This review analyzed 90 major related studies during 2015–2025, covering high-throughput 3D in-line inspection, high-resolution tomography, portable 3D sensing, and AI-driven 3D reconstruction technologies. Post-harvest supply chain application scenarios are mainly distributed in post-harvest processing (33 studies), manufacturing (29 studies), distribution (15 studies), and consumption (13 studies). Among them, fruit and vegetable products are the most intensively researched, highlighting the suitability and potential benefits of 3D reconstruction for these types of products. Besides, multiple 3D reconstruction technologies have been validated for postharvest evaluation, with X-ray CT dominating postharvest processing, manufacturing, and distribution, and portable RGB imaging devices dominating application in consumption. Besides, relevant 3D reconstruction analysis is evolving from geometry-driven to AI-enhanced analysis and management, highlighting the growing role of 3D reconstruction technology in intelligent, traceable, and sustainable post-harvest supply chain quality management. In the future, by integrating digital twins, IoT, and blockchain technologies, it is expected to build a transparent, tamper-proof quality traceability and control system across the global food supply chain. • 3D reconstruction significantly improves non-destructive food quality inspection. • AI integration expands 3D reconstruction applications in food supply chains. • Applications span post-harvest, processing, logistics, and consumer evaluation. • Enables automation in grading, manufacturing, cold chain, and dietary assessment. • Future trends include sensor fusion, XR, and digital twin for food quality control.

The Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) aims to improve health by providing education to laboratory scientists worldwide. Different regions of the world face unique challenges shaped by their national and regional contexts. However, the needs of clinical laboratories worldwide remain largely understudied. To address this gap, we conducted a comprehensive needs assessment survey among laboratory professionals in the Latin American region. The survey was distributed to over 2708 individuals across Latin American countries and yielded 148 responses. Most respondents were from urban areas (74%) and worked in private hospital laboratories (45%), with microbiology (25%) and chemistry (23%) identified as the most common specialties. Key findings include continuing education as the top challenge, identified by 59% of respondents, with a predominant preference for virtual learning formats (83%), though not exclusively; 50% also identified a preference for in-person learning. Other challenges, such as staff shortages, lack of equipment and funding, were selected by 30% to 36% of respondents, whereas regulatory oversight and quality management were less frequently identified as priorities. To contextualize the survey findings, we conducted interviews with laboratory professionals in the region. Common themes included resource and technology constraints, uneven implementation of quality standards, and the need for collaboration between government and professional organizations to bridge gaps in practice. This assessment highlights the need for targeted educational interventions to address the distinct challenges faced by Latin American laboratories. Addressing these gaps in continued education, fostering collaboration, and engaging stakeholders in the region offer a roadmap to strengthening laboratory services and health outcomes.

Multidisciplinary care for endometriosis often includes surgical diagnosis and management, and within this context, the registered nurse first assistant (RNFA) plays a critical leadership role across the perioperative continuum. Surgical intervention is critical in endometriosis, particularly for individuals with moderate to severe disease and symptoms unresponsive to medical suppression. As integral members of the surgical team, RNFAs are actively involved in preoperative education, surgical preparation, intraoperative coordination, and postsurgical care. Postoperative responsibilities include pain management, monitoring for complications, wound care, discharge planning, and implementing recovery protocols, while promoting adherence and reinforcing long-term care strategies. Beyond clinical tasks, RNFAs also often advocate for equitable access to skilled surgical care and provide vital support during a frequently physically and emotionally demanding experience for patients. By ensuring continuity and consistency throughout the surgical journey, RNFA contributions and leadership are essential not only to a safe operative experience but also to long-term outcomes, including improved quality of life, symptom management, and functional recovery for individuals undergoing surgery for endometriosis. This article outlines key RNFA responsibilities in endometriosis surgery, aiming to strengthen perioperative coordination, patient support, and outcomes.

Cervical cancer remains a major public health concern in Morocco. Since 2012, the national program for early detection, based on visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), has targeted women aged 30 to 49 years. This study assesses the program's performance in the Souss-Massa region in 2024, focusing on screening coverage, diagnostic quality, and therapeutic management. A retrospective descriptive analysis was conducted across six provinces using routinely collected indicators: coverage of cervical screening by visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), referral rate, colposcopy completion, treatment uptake, and histopathology outcomes. Data completeness was assessed, and adjusted coverage estimates were computed to correct under-reporting using proportional imputation. Analyses used both raw and adjusted data, with 95% confidence intervals (CI) and appropriate non-parametric or categorical tests. In 2024, 31,034 women were screened (crude coverage 7.07% [95% CI 6.99-7.15]). After under-reporting was adjusted for using proportional imputation - an exploratory correction given that 70% of the data was missing - the regional coverage was estimated at 28.85% (95% CI: 28.60-29.10). However, this figure should be treated as an illustrative estimate rather than a definitive programme indicator. Overall, 1,975 women were referred (referral rate 5.52% [95% CI 5.28-5.76]), 1,615 underwent colposcopy (completion 81.77% [95% CI 79.92-83.62]), and 330 cervical abnormalities were diagnosed (300 CIN1; 30 CIN2+), including 33 histologically confirmed CIN2 + when pathology was available. The CIN2 + detection rate was 1.04 per 1,000 women screened. Treatment uptake among women with diagnosed lesions was 44.85% [95% CI 39.33-50.37], with marked inter-provincial disparities. Only 0.58% of screened women were migrants. Statistically significant differences were observed between provinces for multiple indicators. However, these differences suggest an association with structural and organisational factors rather than indicating a causal relationship. Program performance in Souss-Massa remains below WHO-recommended thresholds for both coverage and treatment. Strengthening medicalization and workforce capacity, improving digital data systems, and piloting a transition to primary HPV testing - including self-sampling and a test-and-treat approach - are key priorities to improve equity and detection performance.

Point-of-care testing (POCT) has expanded rapidly across healthcare systems, increasing both program scale and operational complexity. However, quantitative benchmarking data describing how POCT programs are structured and supported across institutions remain limited. We conducted a cross-sectional survey to characterize POCT program support, including program scope, staffing, operational practices, governance, and challenges. The survey was distributed electronically through professional networks, and 93 institutional responses were analyzed. Descriptive analyses were performed, and derived metrics, including sites per point-of-care testing coordinator (POCC), were used to evaluate the relationship between program scale and staffing. POCT programs demonstrated substantial variability in scale, with wide ranges in the number of testing sites and operator populations. Adoption spanned multiple test categories, and many institutions reported use of multiple platforms for the same assays. Training, competency assessment, and quality management activities were primarily supported by laboratory staff and POCCs, with documentation frequently partially electronic. Median POCC staffing increased with program size; however, sites per POCC also increased significantly across program scale tiers (Kruskal-Wallis P < 0.001). Governance structures and operational responsibilities varied across institutions, and common challenges included staffing limitations, training and compliance burden, multisite coordination, and IT/connectivity constraints. POCT programs are expanding in scale and complexity, but workforce capacity and governance structures have not scaled proportionally. This mismatch creates a cumulative and multiplicative operational burden. These findings provide benchmarking data to inform scalable staffing models, governance strategies, and infrastructure development for sustainable POCT program management.

This study examines how Islamic Senior High Schools (Madrasah Aliyah) in Indonesia manage educational quality by systematically integrating academic achievement and character formation through the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle within Total Quality Management (TQM) frameworks. Unlike previous research treating character education as supplementary, this study positions it as strategic management. Using a qualitative multiple-case study design, data were collected from three State Islamic Senior High Schools through interviews, observations, focus groups, and document analysis. The study investigated PDCA implementation in each school and patterns across institutional contexts. Findings reveal three management models: (1) structural-regulative (MAN X), emphasizing discipline through strict SOPs; (2) community-collaborative (MAN Y), integrating pesantren culture and parental involvement; and (3) innovation-capacity oriented (MAN Z), cultivating literacy and 21st-century skills. Cross-case analysis shows all schools applied PDCA principles—strategic planning (Plan), consistent implementation (Do), integrated evaluation (Check), and improvement (Act). Educational quality in faith-based schools is enhanced when academic and character dimensions are embedded throughout the management cycle. This research demonstrates how TQM-PDCA frameworks can be contextualized for faith-based schools in developing countries and identifies critical gaps in quality systems that require strengthening.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the current state of quality digitalization and provide a specific pathway for quality management in Korea based on the Digital Quality Management Model.Methods: First, Korean Digital Quality Management model for both manufacturing and service industry is developed, respectively. In addition, a survey was conducted for both industry sectors to assess DQM levels of Korean companies.Results: The results indicate that the service industry shows a higher level of DQM maturity compared to the manufacturing industry. While manufacturing industries exhibit relatively consistent but lower levels across sectors, service industries show larger inter-industry variations. Furthermore, both industries present relatively low performance in the “Distinctive Value” category, especially in workforce management and customer management.Conclusion: This study provides empirical evidence on the current state of digital quality management across industries based on the DQM model. Key findings offer practical insights for enhancing quality management strategies in the digital era and contribute to the development of industry-specific approaches for advancing digital quality management.

Mobile monitoring of air pollution has been extensively employed in environmental and epidemiological studies. However, previous monitoring campaigns, which typically involved only one or two vehicles operating during temporally incomplete and imbalanced daytime, were limited in spatiotemporal coverage, resolution, and representativeness. This leaves important gaps in understanding how air pollution varies spatiotemporally across urban on-road microenvironments, as well as in assessing the impact of fleet size and temporal sampling incompleteness (daytime/weekday/weekend-skewed vs 24 h continuous and full week) on monitoring coverage and PM2.5 estimates, respectively. Here, we fill these gaps by employing a citywide taxi-based mobile monitoring fleet of over 200 taxis operating 24 h a day over a two-week period and equipped with fine particulate matter (PM2.5) sensors to characterize PM2.5 spatiotemporal variability and quantify traffic-related increment contributions across diverse urban on-road microenvironments. Leveraging this large-scale, spatiotemporally dense, and representative data set, we further investigated how fleet size influences monitoring coverage and repeated visits and how temporal sampling incompleteness and imbalance affect monitoring outcomes and bias. Our results show spatial and temporal heterogeneity in on-road PM2.5 levels and traffic-related increment contributions across microenvironments. Increasing fleet size improves spatial coverage but exhibits diminishing returns, and temporally incomplete and imbalanced sampling can introduce biased outcomes, particularly at finer temporal resolutions. These findings have important implications for refined urban air quality management and epidemiological research, thereby offering guidance and insights for future studies.

Legacy phosphorus (P) stored in soils from historical human activities can be remobilized under changing hydrological conditions, undermining water quality management and causing delayed pollution impacts. However, current management strategies lack the evaluation of legacy dynamics and the consideration of spatiotemporal lags, which limits the effectiveness of pollution control. In this study, we developed a novel management framework by integrating hydrological connectivity with interpretable machine learning. Using the aggregated index of connectivity, we elucidate how hydrological connectivity governs legacy P transport and identify environmental thresholds that modulate this relationship. Results revealed a phosphorus transport lag of more than 10 years in the Xiangjiang River Basin, with legacy P contributing more than 80% of the total phosphorus flux. Agricultural areas with high connectivity values were identified as primary sources of legacy P, whereas forested areas with low connectivity values temporarily retained phosphorus but posed sudden-release risks. We further found that precipitation and ground surface temperature were key environmental factors with critical thresholds influencing the relative importance of hydrological connectivity in driving legacy P transport. Accordingly, we propose a dynamic, threshold-based management framework incorporating hydrological connectivity and environmental drivers to guide the targeted mitigation of long-term legacy P impacts across subtropical watersheds.
