Attendance and Pay Calculation using Face Recognition

Security has become a very crucial issue in various countries. Many techniques were came into use to resolve the issues related to security. So these various techniques were mostly used by higher organizations like MNC's, still there are some issues related to Attendance marking. Traditional ways of attendance marking were of no use. The reason behind that is the increase in number of proxy attendance. As the payment of employee is based on his attendance as well as on his work, so there is an increment in number of proxies by the employees, of their colleagues. So to overcome this issue, a system has to be there which will keep track of attendance, where the attendance will be taken by a system and on the basis of that attendance the payment will be calculated. This paper proposes a system where the attendance of employees will be taken by the system by using face recognition technology and on the basis of that, the payment will be calculated. It also includes a door access system for security purpose, where the access will be given to only authorized employees, the one who will be recognized by the system.

Deep Learning Based Automated Attendance System

Abstract A significant portion of the time allocated to a faculty for teaching purposes is consumed on the task of taking attendance of the students. This is an issue because it takes the valuable time of teachers which could be spent on more productive tasks such as teaching and interacting with students. In excess to the increase in chaos and loss of decorum in the classroom environment, the presence of proxy attendance also plagues the existing method of manual attendance keeping. To counter these issues, this paper proposed the Deep Learning Assisted Attendance System (DPAAS); which keeps track of students attending a particular class with the help of a continuous stream of pictures captured from a video streaming device located inside a classroom connected to the remote server. The proposed DPAAS method reduces the amount of time spent by the faculty on taking attendance, and leads to a reduction in chaos inside a classroom. DPASS is proposed handles the issues in existing systems such as multi-class identification for multiple individuals in a classroom, occlusion and differing light scenarios. The DPAAS methodology compares the results of the state of art algorithms, and uses the best fit architecture which provides the lowest false rate on evaluation. There is no need of user interaction in the proposed DPAAS. Experimental results show that the proposed DPAAS method gives 94.66% accuracy which is better than the other existing methods.

Smart attendance system using real time face recognition

We can identify a person uniquely through his/her face. This physical feature can be used to develop a smart attendance system. Attendance management has become an essential part of an institution/college. However, it becomes tedious to manually mark the attendance and keep a track of students marking a proxy attendance for their friends. In order to increase the efficiency and security as well as to save time, we devised a smart attendance system. We intend to achieve this by using face recognition technology. We would store the images of every student in a database and then compare these images with the real-time frames detected from a video camera. In our work, we have implemented various algorithms such as Local Binary Pattern Histogram (LBPH), Eigenfaces and Fisherfaces for the purpose of face recognition in Attendance management.

NFC 기술을 활용한 앱(App)기반 자동 출결 관리 시스템 구현

Owing to the recent increased interest in wireless communication technology and rapid technology development, a range of applied technologies utilizing them are being released. In addition, at school, by adopting an attendance management system using wireless communication technology, attempts to solve problems caused by attendance books are being made. Representative attendance management systems include those using RFID, Bluetooth and clicker. Although these systems have solved the problem of wasting paper and time due to calling and writing attendance, they have other problems of generating additional expenses of purchasing or renting more equipment. To solve all of these problems, this paper suggests prototype system that can manage attendance by using NFC (Near Field Communication), which most smartphones provide. The attendance management system using NFC consists of two applications; one for professors and the other for students. The system solves problems, such as proxy attendance, loss of lesson time and additional cost by automatically managing attendance information using NFC and TCP/IP technologies.

GPS Aided Autonomous Monitoring and Attendance System

Monitoring students or employees in institutions or organizations, is animportant task. During working hours, students should notleave their campus unless they are allowed. It is a very tedious task to monitor the people. So here an idea to monitor the people is proposed using GPS and GPRS. The person who has to be monitored should wear an id card, which consist of GPS & GPRS integrated using ARM microcontroller. Now-a –days, wearing an identity card is a must for every organization, so the MEMS GPS and GPRS is used here. GPS position data is sent from the identity card, continuously to the server. Geo fences are created for people, which signify the location where they have to stay during working hours with respect to time. If the person stays in that position during particular time attendance will be marked, otherwise absent will be marked for the student, or leave may be marked for the employee. By knowing the position of the person, his location can be pointed in the google earth, proved that he carries his identity card. Since there is always a possibility of proxy attendance with this id card, a finger print device is used to avoid proxy attendance. When the person fingerprintmatches, then only his position data are considered valid and it is used.

ARM 9 Based Intelligent System for Biometric Figure Authentication

Now a day’s some universities in India are enforcing afiliated colleges to implement biometric fingerprint attendance system to monitor student attendance. This sytem requiresbiometric fingerprint scanner need to be installed in affiliated college where student studying and it is monitored by the university online. As finger print scanner is placed at affiliated college which is far away from the university, there is possibility of adding fake finger print into the scanner which can be used for proxy attendance of student who is not attending the college. In this paper, the proposed system is designed in such a way that, the acquired fingerprint of the student is initially stored in the database with complete student profile and photograph. And, when the student places his fingerprint it compares with stored database. If fingerprint matches it displays the student photo. The proposed intelligent system includes R305 fingerprint sensor and ARM 9 processor. We used RS232 for interfacing with system and visual studio 2008 software for designing the interface. ATTITUDE, BEHAVIOURAL IMPROVEMENT AND PREFERENCES

Objective: Present study endeavoured to assess medical student’s ethicalbehaviour, preferences and improvements one year later. Design of study: Cross-sectional,questionnaire-based. Setting: Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences Jamshoro.Sindh. Pakistan. Period: October 2013 - Jan 2014. Materials and methods: First year (FY) andsecond year (SY) MBBS students (n = 122 each year) of both genders, were randomly selectedand a questionnaire administered. Results: Fifty six percent male and 40% female studentsof FY marked proxy attendance; 72% males and 65% female would mark proxy attendance ifgiven a chance. Percentages increased in SY. Significant co-relation existed between genderand proxy attendance (p = 0.01); self-financed or hostlers showed no association withmarking proxy attendance. Sense of responsibility in females and courteous behavior in bothgenders improved in SY. Teacher’s behaviour affected student’s conduct; and improvementin understanding English was noted in both genders in both years, however, the small % ofstudents finding English as a barrier were prone to mark proxy attendance (p = 0.05). Malespreferred physiology whereas female preferred anatomy in both years. In FY, subject of choicewas anatomy, substituted for Physiology in SY. Majority students preferred chalk and black boardvs. multimedia based teaching. Conclusions: Cheating behaviour and sense of responsibility,but civilised behaviour, did not improve after one year education.

Enhanced Biometric Attendance and Recording System for Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff in a Tertiary Institution

Enhanced Biometric Attendance and Recording System for Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff in a Tertiary Institution Biometric technology offers an advanced verification of human identity used in most schools and companies for recording the daily attendance of the employees. This study uses the biometric technology to address the problems of many companies and schools such as employees doing the proxy attendance for their colleagues, stealing company time, and putting in more time in the daily time record (DTR). The researcher developed a system with the use of fingerprint reader and the webcam device to facilitate the recording of login and logout of the employees in the school campus. The employee uses one finger to record his or her time of arrival and departure from the office through the use of the fingerprint reader. The DTR of employees is recorded correctly by the system; the tardiness and under time in the morning and in the afternoon of their official time is also computed. The system was developed using the Microsoft Visual C# 2008 programming language, MySQL 5.1 database software, and Software Development Kit (SDK) for the fingerprint reader and the webcam device.

Prevalence of lapses in academic integrity in two Pakistani medical colleges

Objective: To determine prevalence of professionalism lapses related to academic integrity by students Pakistani medical colleges.Subjects: 520 students.Study design: Cross sectional.Data collection: A validated and customized version of Dundee Polyprofessional Inventory – 1 for use in Pakistani medical schools was used. The students’ perceptions on 47 behaviors were explored.Result: The response rate of students was 92%. Ninety percent or more than 90% of student agreed that 30 of the 47 listed behaviors were wrong. Different percentages of the students admitted doing 44(94%), out of 47 behaviors. Students thought that fellow students were doing dishonest behaviors far more frequently than they themselves were. The commonest dishonest behaviors admitted were proxy attendance (308, 64%), receiving information about the paper from a student who has already sat in the exam, or themselves providing information about a paper who have yet to sit in it (297, 62%), completing work for another student 291(61%).Conclusion: There are significant issues related to academic integrity in Pakistani medical schools that require remedy. The Dundee Polyprofessional Inventory – 1 as customized for use in Pakistan is a useful tool to measure professionalism lapses related to academic integrity.

효율적인 이러닝을 위한 학습자 얼굴 인증 기술

학습자와 교수자간의 효율적인 학습을 지원하고 학습자의 편의성과 공간 시간적으로 제안된 학습 환경을 개선하기 위해 이러닝 기술이 다각도로 연구되고 있다. 그러나 학업 성취도를 포함한 학습 과정에서 오프라인 수업에 못 미치는 결과를 초래하고 있다. 즉, 대리인이 학습에 참여한 출석, 학습에 집중력이 부족한 형식적인 학습, 학습자의 학습태도 관리 등의 영역에 문제를 가지고 있으므로 당연한 결과라 할 수 있다. 이러한 환경적인 문제가 해결되어야 시간 공간의 제안을 받지 않는 이러닝 시스템의 장점을 살릴 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하고자 학습자의 얼굴 인증 컴퓨팅 기술을 이용하여 학습자 인증과 학습 진행이 될 수 있는 기술을 제안한다. 학습자의 얼굴을 실시간으로 감시하여 학습자의 자리 비움 및 학습 이외의 행위, 대리인에 대한 제한을 방지할 수 있는 기능을 제공한다. E-learning technology which effectively supports the learning methodologies between students and professors and which provides location and time benefits to students is being researched now a days. However, E-learning classes produce bad effects comparing with offline classes in learning procedures including scholastic achievements. Bad effects of E-learning system could be proxy attendance, lack of concentration, and bad attitude of students. These environmental problems must be solved first to achieve the advantages of E-learning technology. To get rid of these problems, in this paper, we proposed a mechanism which provides effective learning progress by using face authentication method. This mechanism supervise the student by using real time face recognition which prevents proxy attendance, illegal activities, and student's absences.
