Investigation on Tensile Properties of Polylactide-Nanoclay (PLA/ MMT) Surface Modification Nanocomposites

Polylactic acid (PLA) has gained significant attention as an environmentally friendly biopolymer, but its limited mechanical properties have hindered broader applications. Nanoparticles such as montmorillonite (MMT) offer a promising approach to address this limitation. The intercalation of MMT with polymer chains can significantly impact the mechanical properties of the nanocomposites. Hence, this paper investigated the effect of surface-modified montmorillonite (MMT) nanoparticles on the mechanical properties of polylactic acid (PLA) nanocomposites. The acetylation process of MMT was carried out followed by neutralisation process with NaOH. PLA granules and acetylated-modified MMT were mixed, crushed into granular form, and moulded. The effect of varying concentrations of modified MMTs on the tensile strength, elongation at break, and maximum force of PLA/MMT nanocomposites was evaluated using the ASTM D638 standard. FTIR results showed shifts in peak intensities in regions 2750 cm-1- 2810 cm-1 led to changes in the aliphatic and aromatic regions, which confirmed the presence of acetylation. Controlled surface modification improved interfacial interactions and load distribution, enhancing overall mechanical performance. The incorporation of surface-modified MMT in PLA/MMT nanocomposite increased the maximum force, Young's modulus, elongation at breaks and tensile strength. PLA/1wt% MMT and the PLA/7wt% MMT compositions exhibited good mechanical properties. However, the PLA/5 wt% MMT blendis deemed more suitable for food applications, such as disposable cups, plates, and cutleries, due to its lower elongation point. In conclusion, the hydrophilic properties of MMT and the hydrophobic properties of PLA are compatible due to the synergistic effects during surface modification which enhance the overall performance of the nanocomposites.

Influence of alumina and PMMA on mechanical properties and aging behavior of 3D printed PLA composites: A comparative study

AbstractThis study intends to investigate the mechanical, thermal, and aging behaviors of 3D‐printed PLA (polylactic acid)‐blend with 10% polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and 10% alumina polymer composites for biomedical applications using compressive, DSC, and DMA analysis. The experimental results revealed that aged PLA blend with alumina samples increased compressive strength by 60.1% and 37.8% during hydrolytic and enzymatic degradation, respectively, compared to aged PLA samples. Also, it was reported that the PLA blend with PMMA samples increased compressive strength by 51.1% and 24% after hydrolytic and enzymatic degradation, respectively, as compared to aged PLA samples. Furthermore, DSC analysis revealed that alumina blended samples had a higher Tg than pure PLA and PMMA blended samples. In addition, DMA investigation revealed that the Tg of aged neat PLA, PLA/PMMA, and PLA/alumina increased by 4.38%, 4.8%, and 4.6%, respectively, compared to unaged polymer composites. Additionally, PLA/alumina‐aged samples exhibited stronger aging properties than neat PLA and PLA/PMMA blended‐aged samples. It was reported that the weight loss of PLA/Alumina was lowered by 10.7% and 15.6% compared to aged PLA/PMMA samples, for hydrolytic and enzymatic aging respectively. It was found that PLA alumina has better mechanical, thermal, and degradation resistance than PLA materials.Highlights Alumina and PMMA materials were blended with PLA. Examined the aging and mechanical properties of PLA blended composites. Utilized hydrolytic and enzymatic aging for biomedical applications. Evaluated mechanical strength performance of aged and unaged samples. DSC and DMA were utlised for this research.

Enhancing the mechanical properties of polylactic acid (PLA) composite films using Pueraria lobata root microcrystalline cellulose

To enhance the mechanical properties of polylactic acid (PLA) material, the PLA-based composite films are prepared by using Pueraria lobata (Willd.) Ohwi root microcrystalline cellulose (PRMCC) treated with 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (KH550) silane coupling agent as the dispersed phase through solvent casting method. The effects of the concentrations of PRMCC and KH550 as well as the KH550 pretreating condition (ethanol concentration) on the tensile properties of PLA-based composite films are investigated. The PLA-based composite film treated with 5 wt% PRMCC and 18 wt% KH550 (pretreated by 90 % EtOH) exhibits the greatest performance. Its elongation at break value is detected to be 4.0 %, 1.6 times as large as that of pure PLA film. The water absorption of the as-prepared PLA-based composite film is reduced from 0.49 % of the unmodified PLA/PRMCC film to 0.12 %. Moreover, the modified PLA-based composite film has a hydrophobic surface and exhibits good thermal stability. Compared with pure PLA film, the modified PLA-based composite film exhibits improved UV shielding performance with acceptable transparency. Furthermore, after adding poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) to the composite system, the elongation at break of the PLA-based composite film is up to 7.2 %. This research can provide theoretical guidance for enhancing the performance of PLA products.

Improving mechanical properties of PLA with pinus sylvestris char: exploring thermal stability, interfacial strengthening mechanisms, and applications in 3D printing

In the present study, submicron and micron-sized pinus sylvestris char (PS) was applied for the modification of polylactic acid (PLA) and the effect of the properties of PS on the mechanical, thermo-mechanical, and crystallization kinetics of PLA were investigated. As demonstrated, PS could enhance the toughness of the PS-PLA composites by forming interfacial "bridges" to facilitate stress transfer due to its stable lamellar structure and interaction with the PLA matrix. The tensile strength of PLA-PS composites increased by 98% and the bending strength increased by 25% compared to that of pure PLA. The addition of PS significantly increased the energy storage modulus (increased 22%) and loss modulus (increased 30%) of PLA, but led to a decrease in the crystallinity and thermal stability of the composite. In the practical utilization for 3D printing, PS-PLA composites possess good tensile strengths (41.5 MPa), allowing for smooth printing of complex products. This work provides an efficient strategy to modulate the thermodynamic and mechanical properties of PLA matrices by regulating the viscosity of the composites and modulating the interfacial strength with the addition of proper amounts of biochar.

Electrospun Polymeric Fiber Systems Inoculated with Cyanoacrylate Tissue Adhesive: A Novel Hemostatic Alternative during Open Surgery.

Natural-based and synthetic tissue adhesives have attracted extensive attention in the last two decades for their ability to stabilize uncontrolled bleeding instances. However; these materials present several drawbacks during use that scientists have tried to minimize in order to optimize their usage. This study comprises the development of a novel wound dressing, combining the excellent properties of polylactic acid (PLA) non-woven textile, as substrate, obtained through electrospinning, and a cyanoacrylate-based (CA) tissue adhesive, for rapid hemostatic action. Thus, the fabrication of electrospun PLA membranes at three different PLA concentrations, the design and manufacturing of the support system and the production of surgical patches were carried out. SEM and FT-IR methods were employed for analyzing the morphology as well as the indicative markers for the shelf life evolution of the obtained patches. PLA fibers with well-defined structures and a mean diameter varying between 4.6 and 7.24 μm were obtained with the increase of the concentration of the PLA solutions. In vivo tests on a rat model as well as peeling tests for good patch adhesion on liver fragments harvested from the test animals, with a limit for the strength of the liver tissue of 1.5 N, were carried out. The devices exhibited excellent adhesion to the parenchymal tissue and a long enough shelf life to be used with success in surgical procedures, also facilitating prompt hemostatic action.

Mechanical Properties and Crystallinity of Specific PLA/Cellulose Composites by Surface Modification of Nanofibrillated Cellulose.

Polylactic acid (PLA) has inherent drawbacks, such as its amorphous structure, which affect its mechanical and barrier properties. The use of nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) mixed with PLA for the production of composites has been chosen as a solution to the above problems. A PLA/NFC composite was produced by solution casting. Before use, the cellulose was modified using a silane coupling agent. The composite films were investigated via X-ray diffraction, as well as by mechanical, physical, thermal analyses and by differential scanning calorimeter. The crystallinity was four times that of pure PLA and the water vapor transmission rate decreased by 76.9% with the incorporation of 10 wt% of NFC. The tensile strength of PLA/NFC blend films increased by 98.8% with the incorporation of 5 wt% of NFC. The study demonstrates that the addition of NFC improved the properties of PLA. This provides a solid foundation for the enhancement of the performance of PLA products.

The Effect of FDM Parameters on the Mechanical Properties of PLA Printed Parts

The most common method for additive manufacturing of thermoplastics is fused deposition modeling (FDM), which is becoming a growing trend in a variety of engineering applications since it can easily create intricate parts. The appropriate choice of process parameters has a significant impact on the mechanical qualities of 3D-printed parts. This study examined the effect of four crucial process variables on the tensile strength of polylactic acid (PLA) samples: infill density, printing speed, build orientation, and layer thickness. Samples were printed in accordance with ASTM D638 using an FDM 3D printer. The findings of this study show that the tensile strength of the PLA-printed samples is highly influenced by factors such as layer thickness, build orientation, and infill density. The PLA-printed samples' tensile strength and Young's modulus were significantly affected by the 90° orientations, hollow infill, 0.4 mm thickness, and 100 mm/s speed. Therefore, as the FDM 3D printer becomes progressively more significant for manufacturing engineering components, finding the parameter values that may lead to stronger mechanical and physical characteristics would definitely help designers and manufacturers globally.

Enhancing Polylactic Acid Properties with Graphene Nanoplatelets and Carbon Black Nanoparticles: A Study of the Electrical and Mechanical Characterization of 3D-Printed and Injection-Molded Samples.

This study investigates the enhancement of polylactic acid (PLA) properties through the incorporation of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) and carbon black (CB) for applications in 3D printing and injection molding. The research reveals that GNPs and CB improve the electrical conductivity of PLA, although conductivity remains within the insulating range, even with up to 10% wt of nanoadditives. Mechanical characterization shows that nanoparticle addition decreases tensile strength due to stress concentration effects, while dispersants like polyethylene glycol enhance ductility and flexibility. This study compares the properties of materials processed by injection molding and 3D printing, noting that injection molding yields isotropic properties, resulting in better mechanical properties. Thermal analysis indicates that GNPs and CB influence the crystallization behavior of PLA with small changes in the melting behavior. Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analysis (DMTA) results show how the glass transition temperature and crystallization behavior fluctuate. Overall, the incorporation of nanoadditives into PLA holds potential for enhanced performance in specific applications, though achieving optimal conductivity, mechanical strength, and thermal properties requires careful optimization of nanoparticle type, concentration, and dispersion methods.

Enhancing Mechanical Properties of PLA Filaments through Orange Peel Powder Reinforcement: Optimization of 3D Printing Parameters

This study investigates the augmentation of the mechanical properties of Polylactic Acid (PLA) filaments by incorporating Orange Peel Powder (OPP) as an eco-friendly filler for 3D printing applications. The study delves into optimizing the printing parameters to achieve enhanced mechanical characteristics while maintaining printability. Various 3D printing process parameters were analyzed systematically to assess their impact on tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact resistance. A thorough investigation was conducted to determine the impact of layer height, infill density, and printing speed on the overall mechanical properties of the printed specimens. The findings demonstrate that adding 25% OPP significantly enhances the mechanical strength of the PLA composite without compromising printability, with optimal concentration and printing parameters identified. Thermo gravimetric study reveals that the PLA/OPP composite filament has a higher maximum thermal degradation temperature of 329 °C, compared to the PLA’s temperature of 316 °C. This research contributes to advancing the development of sustainable and mechanically robust materials for additive manufacturing, offering insights into the fabrication of PLA-based biodegradable composites tailored for specific applications in various industries.

A new strategy for the preparation of polylactic acid composites with UV resistance, light conversion, and antibacterial properties

A novel rare earth complex, Eu(IAA)2(phen)2 (EuIP), was synthesized by solution-based synthesis method. Then, EuIP and polylactic acid (PLA) were melt-blended at 190 °C to obtain a multifunctional PLA/EuIP composite. The incorporation of EuIP provided PLA/EuIP composites with good light conversion ability. Under UV irradiation, PLA/EuIP composites converted the absorbed UV light into red light. Moreover, the PLA/1.0EuIP composite exhibited excellent light transmittance of 88 % in the visible region and showed strong red emission under UV light. After UV irradiation for 96 h, the molecular weights and mechanical properties of neat PLA decreased dramatically. Interestingly, the molecular weights and mechanical properties of PLA/EuIP composites did not deteriorate after 96 h of UV irradiation. The reason was that EuIP could absorb UV light and utilize the absorbed energy to emit red fluorescence. Furthermore, PLA/EuIP composites showed good antibacterial activities against E. coli and S. aureus. In addition, in vitro cell experiments showed that PLA/EuIP composites was suitable for the growth of murine breast cancer (4 T1) cells. Besides, enzymatic degradation testing also proved that PLA/EuIP composites had good biodegradability. This work provides an ingenious design strategy for the preparation of PLA/EuIP composites possessing light conversion ability, UV resistance, and antibacterial properties.

Nanoconfinement-Enhanced Fire Safety and Mechanical Properties of Polylactic Acid with Nanocerium Metal-Organic Frameworks.

Ce-based metal-organic frameworks (Ce-MOFs) were successfully synthesized by coordinating binary acid and amino structures with cerium oxides. The quantum dot scale endows Ce-MOFs with enhanced modifiability. Additionally, the phosphorus-rich biomass phytic acid, with its numerous hydroxyl groups, strengthens the H-bond network within the system. Ce-MOFs-centered nanoconfinement can form through the multiple H-bond interactions between Ce-MOFs and polylactic acid (PLA) molecules, thereby improving the mechanical and flame-retardant properties of PLA. The PLA/CeCxOy-P-3 composite exhibited excellent fire retardancy and toxic gas suppression, with a 27.8% decrease in the peak heat release rate and a 50% reduction in the peak smoke production rate. Notably, PLA/CeCxOy-P-3 showed an 80% lower peak CO release compared with the pure PLA sample. Moreover, the incorporation of Ce-MOFs positively influenced the tensile properties of PLA, transforming it from brittle to tough. This work designed and synthesized Ce-MOFs on the quantum scale. The resulting Ce-MOFs with the anticipated structure offer a novel direction for preparing MOFs for flame retardant applications.

Effects of chitin nano-flake fillers on the mechanical and barrier properties of polylactic acid biocomposite films

Polylactic acid (PLA) is a biodegradable polymer extensively used in packaging; however, its mechanical and barrier properties require enhancement for wider applications. Chitin-derived nanoflakes (CNFL), a two-dimensionally separated nanomaterial derived from α-chitin, possess high strength and toughness, making them ideal additives for improved PLA performance. This study investigated the effect of CNFL on the properties of PLA composite films. Incorporating CNFL significantly enhanced the mechanical properties of PLA, increasing its tensile strength and stiffness while preserving flexibility. This enhancement was attributed to the nucleating effect of CNFL, which increases crystallinity. Additionally, CNFL improved the thermal stability of the composite films by mitigating thermal deformation. Notably, the oxygen barrier properties of CNFL-filled PLA composites were also enhanced, demonstrating a significant reduction in oxygen permeability at optimal CNFL concentrations due to increased tortuosity of the oxygen diffusion path. Overall, CNFL-filled PLA composites exhibit great potential as renewable packaging materials, particularly for protecting sensitive products, such as food and pharmaceuticals, from oxidative degradation, thereby extending shelf life and maintaining quality. These findings suggest that CNFL-filled PLA composites are promising materials for advanced applications, offering a combination of enhanced mechanical performance, improved thermal stability, and superior oxygen barrier properties.

Optimization of Fused Filament Fabrication for High-Performance Polylactic Acid Parts under Wear Conditions

This paper investigates the impact of various manufacturing parameters on the mechanical and tribological properties of high-performance PLA (polylactic acid) parts produced using Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF). It addresses the challenges associated with optimizing additive manufacturing processes, particularly for polymer-based materials, and emphasizes the importance of understanding how factors such as build orientation, layer thickness, and infill density influence the final properties of the printed parts. This study highlights the improvements that can be achieved by incorporating reinforcements such as carbon fibers and graphene nanoplatelets into PLA, enhancing its mechanical strength and wear resistance. Powder Loading Effects on the Physicochemical and Mechanical Properties of 3D Printed Poly Lactic Acid/Hydroxyapatite Biocomposites.

This study presents the physicochemical and mechanical behavior of incorporating hydroxyapatite (HAp) with polylactic acid (PLA) matrix in 3D printed PLA/HAp composite materials. Effects of powder loading to the composition, crystallinity, morphology, and mechanical properties were observed. HAp was synthesized from locally sourced nanoprecipitated calcium carbonate and served as the filler for the PLA matrix. The 0, 5, 10, and 15 wt. % HAp biocomposite filaments were formed using a twin-screw extruder. The resulting filaments were 3D printed in an Ultimaker S5 machine utilizing a fused deposition modeling technology. Successful incorporation of HAp and PLA was observed using infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The mechanical properties of pure PLA had improved on the incorporation of 15% HAp; from 32.7 to 47.3 MPa in terms of tensile strength; and 2.3 to 3.5 GPa for stiffness. Moreover, the preliminary in vitro bioactivity test of the 3D printed PLA/HAp biocomposite samples in simulated body fluid (SBF) indicated varying weight gains and the presence of apatite species’ XRD peaks. The HAp particles embedded in the PLA matrix acted as nucleation sites for the deposition of salts and apatite species from the SBF solution.

Innovative Approaches for Manufacturing Epoxy-Modified Wood and Cellulose Fiber Composites: A Comparison between Injection Molding and 3D Printing.

The current study focused on improving the properties of polylactic acid (PLA) for wider application in load-bearing scenarios. Various methods were explored to optimize the interaction between PLA and natural fibers, particularly wood fibers (WFs). Alkalized and epoxy-impregnated WFs were evaluated against untreated WFs and cellulose fibers in both injection molding (IM) and fused deposition modeling (FDM). FTIR analysis revealed the removal of hemicellulose and lignin in alkalized WFs and uniform epoxy curing. Addition of fibers reduced PLA's thermal stability while acting as nucleating agents. Additionally, fibers augmented the storage modulus of biocomposites, with alkalized fibers exhibiting the highest tensile modulus in IM. FDM samples with a 0° raster angle showed superior impact resistance compared to IM counterparts. Moreover, raster angle significantly influenced FDM biocomposite properties, enhancing the tensile strength and modulus of untreated WF and cellulose fibers at 0°. Although FDM did not produce alkalized WF samples, epoxy impregnation emerged as a promising method for enhancing PLA/WF composite mechanical properties in the IM process, offering valuable insights for composite material development.

Antiviral properties of polylactic acid and nano-TiO2 for 3D printing

Throughout history, viruses have consistently adapted to survive and spread. Understanding airborne transmission and surface survival emphasizes the necessity for antiviral materials. This study demonstrates virucidal reduction of human Coronavirus 229E and Feline Calicivirus on a polylactic acid and titanium dioxide nanoparticle composite with photocatalytic activity and UV activation. Mechanical properties and UV spectroscopy are also examined, suggesting the potential of the composite in medical and food applications through additive manufacturing.

Analysis of the effect of boric acid and compatibilizer addition to polylactic acid/basalt fiber composites

AbstractThe objective of this study is to improve the properties of polylactic acid (PLA), a biopolymer produced from renewable resources, without compromising its environmentally friendly “natural composite” properties. The aim was to expand the application range of PLA by making it suitable for the production of high performance composites. With this in mind, it was decided to use inorganic and environmentally friendly materials such as basalt fiber (BF) and boric acid (BA) as reinforcements. Adhesive wear and tensile tests were used to investigate the tribological and mechanical performance of the composites. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dimensional stability analysis (DSA) methods were used to investigate the thermal properties. Scanning electron microscopy analysis was also used to investigate the morphological properties of the samples. In addition, a matrix modification process using Joncryl®, an epoxy‐based chain extender chemical, was applied to enhance the interfacial interaction between the composite components and improve the composite properties by improving the dispersion of reinforcing materials. As a result of the characterization tests, it was observed that a significant improvement in the properties of the material type containing 10 wt% BF, 0.25 wt% BA and 2 wt% Joncryl® was achieved. A 19% increase in tensile strength of this type of material was observed compared with unreinforced PLA, while the sharp peak increase in the coefficient of friction (COF) curve was shifted from 20 m to 60 m. As a result, it has been presented that environmentally friendly and inorganic materials such as BF and BA can be used to produce composite materials that will serve sectors where the need and use of high performance materials is intense, especially in the automotive, aerospace and aviation sectors.Highlights The properties of PLA matrix composites were improved by the simultaneous use of BF and BA and the addition of Joncryl®. The structural properties of PLA, an environmentally friendly polymer, have been improved without compromising this characteristic. PLA matrix natural composites with performance that can be used in the automotive, aerospace and aviation sectors have been developed.

Temperature and strain rate-dependent compression properties of 3D-printed PLA: an experimental and modeling analysis

PurposeThis study aims to investigate the compression characteristics of the 3D-printed polylactic acid (PLA) samples at temperatures below the glass transition temperature (Tg) with varying strain rates and develop a thermo-mechanical viscoplastic constitutive model to predict the finite strain compression response using a single set of material parameters. Also, the micro-mechanical damage processes are linked to the global stress–strain response at varied strain rates and temperatures through scanning electron microscopy (SEM).Design/methodology/approachTg of PLA was determined using a dynamic mechanical analyzer. Compression experiments were conducted at strain rates of 2 × 10–3/s and 2 × 10–2/s at 25°C, 40°C and 50°C. The failure mechanisms were examined using SEM. A finite strain thermo-mechanical viscoplastic constitutive model was developed to analyze the deformations at the considered strain rates and temperatures.FindingsTg of PLA was determined as 55°C. While the yield and post-yield stresses drop with increasing temperature, their trend reverses with an increased strain rate. SEM imaging indicated plasticizing effects at higher temperatures, while filament fragmentation and twisting at higher strain rates were identified as the dominant failure mechanisms. Using a non-linear regression analysis to predict the experimental data, an overall R2 value of 0.98 was achieved between experimental and model prediction, implying the robustness of the model’s calibration.Originality/valueIn this study, a viscoplastic constitutive model was developed that considers the combined effect of temperature and strain rate for FDM-printed PLA experiencing extensive compression. Using appropriate temperature-dependent modulus and flow rate properties, a single set of model parameters predicted the rise in the gap between yield stress and degree of softening as strain rates and temperatures increased.

The Coloristic Properties of Biodegradable Fibers

This work aims to present the results of evaluating the coloristic properties of polylactic acid (PLA) fibers. PLA is common nowadays in much research, as it is a biodegradable plastic from renewable sources. However, little research is devoted to PLA fibers, and even less to applied research of colored fibers. The prepared color masterbatches, created using inorganic pigments, such as titanium dioxide and carbon black, were subsequently used to prepare dyed PLA fibers in mass. The fibers were drawn to the maximum drawn ratio. The properties of the pure and dyed fibers were investigated before and after accelerated light aging using Q-SUN equipment. The changes were recorded by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and colorimetric properties were recorded using a device spectrometer from TECHKON SpectroDens. We also evaluated thermal properties from the first heating via differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The measurements were taken before and after the aging of the PLA fibers, in order to see the effect of aging on the supermolecular structure, excluding the influence of the preparation process and the influence of the kind of PLA. Using inorganic pigments showed sufficient color stability even after accelerated light aging, which is beneficial for using colored fibers in practice.

Utilization of modified epoxidized natural rubber and zinc oxide on properties of polylactic acid/epoxidized natural rubber blends: Mechanical properties, antibacterial efficiency and biodegradability

Polylactic acid (PLA) is a biopolymer with brittleness and no antibacterial efficiency, which can be solved by the combination with epoxidized natural rubber (ENR) due to polar-polar interaction and with modified zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO) regarding the releasing of zinc ions (Zn2+) and reactive oxygen species (ROS). To minimize self-interaction in each PLA and ENR molecular chain, ENR with different % epoxidation was modified (mENR) by grafting with sebacic acid (SA). The addition of mENR with 50 % mol to PLA significantly improved the properties of pure PLA in terms of mechanical and impact properties, toughness, and also provided disinfectant ability. Regarding antibacterial properties, the efficiency against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli was significantly improved by adding ZnO to the blends. Combination of mENR to PLA matrix during mixing operation increases improved ZnO dispersion and distribution in PLA/mENR blends. Thus, antibacterial efficiency had been enhanced using proper mENR:ZnO concentration ratios in the PLA matrix, relative to other modified ZnO types. Also, incorporation of mENR:ZnO enhanced impact strength and retarded biodegradability of the blends due to hydrophobicity of ENR in PLA matrix. The findings of the blends' properties suggest potential for new functional applications, especially in disinfectant sheet lamination products where strength and protection against bacterial growth together with proper degradation period are required.
