Sound insulation in different kinds of offices - what is needed for different situations

Some kind of working groups like doctors, priesthood and lawyers are dealing with confidential and personal information in their daily life. In general there is a need to hinder personal information to be spread more than necessary. With loud level of conversation in pressed situations, R'w of minimum 48 dB is needed to hinder spreading of sensitive information to neighbor room. The paper will discuss different concepts for offices like office landscape, client-zone, and when and why proper sound insulation is necessary. There are also other buildings where proper sound insulation is needed between offices, like offices and meeting rooms in schools, kindergarten, social welfare services, banking services, insurance companies and house for family counseling or health care. It is a big need to clarify sound insulation in office buildings or administration rooms based on what kind of conversations are going on or what kind of information are being dealt with. The boundary between necessary sharing of information for proper internal discussion and unnecessary spreading is important issue to consider. Experience shows that duty of confidentiality for employees is not sufficient to hinder spreading of sensitive information.

Evaluation of intensive remediation using simulation-optimization modeling based on long-term monitoring at a DNAPL contaminated site

Simulation-optimization modeling is extensively used to identify optimal remediation designs. However, verifying these optimal solutions often remains unclear. In this study, we determine optimal groundwater remediation strategies using simulation-optimization modeling and assess the effectiveness of previous remediation efforts by validating optimized results through 14 years of long-term monitoring of trichloroethylene (TCE) contamination. The study site is the Road Administrative Office (RAO) in Wonju, Korea, where significant TCE contamination has occurred, and long-term in-situ remediation and monitoring have been conducted. We employ MODFLOW for simulating groundwater flow and MT3D for modeling dissolved TCE concentration distribution. The Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II (NSGA-II) is applied to derive optimal groundwater remediation designs. Initial simulation results effectively predicted long-term TCE contamination trends and the impact of short-term in-situ remediation. Our evaluation involved comparing these optimal designs with field test outcomes, leading to the integration of continuous intensive pump-and-treat with in-situ remediation strategies. By comparing various modeling scenarios against long-term TCE contamination trends, we confirmed the effectiveness of previous remediation efforts and demonstrated that the optimal remediation design substantially minimized TCE concentrations at the main source zone. This study highlights successful strategies in historical contamination and remediation trend assessments, proposing an optimal design for pump-and-treat with reduced pumping stress to manage remaining TCE contamination at the site effectively.

Impact of patient death on physicians’ mental health

IntroductionPhysicians often encounter stressful situations that can impact their mental well-being. The death of a patient represents one of the most difficult situations in routine medical practice. Literature notably lacks comprehensive studies into physicians’ personal experiences with patients’ deaths. However, it does underscore heightened levels of sorrow, guilt, and stress stemming from the passing of terminally ill patients. As a majority of studies in this realm adopt qualitative methodologies, there is merit in supplementing existing research with a quantitative approach that employs validated psychometric scales. Furthermore, the study of phenomena associated with stress, particularly the perceived professional support by physicians in stressful events, can contribute to the implementation of preventive measures to help physicians cope. ObjectiveOur study aims to measure the traumatic impact on resident and intern physicians at national university hospitals following the death of patients, as well as to assess the perceived level of professional support among these physicians. Materials and methodsWe conducted a nationwide cross-sectional, descriptive, and analytical study. Participants included interns and residents from various specialties (medical, surgical and laboratory) at national university hospitals in Morocco. Assessing the traumatic impact of patients’ death on doctors was conducted using two psychometric scales: the Peri-Traumatic Distress Inventory (PDI) and the Revised Impact of Event Scale (IES-R). Additionally, we used the Perceived Professional Social Support Scale (QSSP-P) to evaluate how supportive the professional environment was towards these doctors. All scales utilized in the study are validated in the French language. ResultsThe study included 96 participants, with 67.7% being female. The average age was 26.8 years, ranging from 23 to 39 years. The majority of participants managed more than nine patients simultaneously (58.3%) while 41.7% were scheduled for more than six 24h shifts per month. During their training, over 64.6% of interns and residents faced more than ten patients’ death incidents, and 68.8% considered their first patient death as the most traumatizing. Half of the physicians evaluated the patients’ care as moderately appropriate, with 46.9% believing that the incident could have been prevented. Notably, 70.8% of interns and residents involved in patient care experienced self-blame and attributed a share of responsibility to themselves for the patient's demise. The majority of participants, 82.3%, exhibited peri-traumatic distress with a PDI score exceeding 15. Among the studied factors, only the perceived responsibility and a management system centered on a single physician (rather than a team) demonstrated a noteworthy correlation with PDI scores. The mean score on the IES-R scale was 25.6, with almost half of the sample (54.2%) reporting moderate to severe PTSD symptoms. The severity of these symptoms was significantly correlated with higher age, high number of patient's deaths experienced and the physician's perceived sense of responsibility. Participants in our study were more satisfied with support from colleagues compared to support functions (paramedical staff, administrative officials) or superiors. Moreover, only colleagues’ support was statistically significantly associated with low scores on the traumatic impact scales. ConclusionPhysicians maintain a unique relationship and therapeutic alliance with their patients. Therefore, the death of a patient can have a significant psychological impact on the physician. This study allowed us to objectively measure this psychological impact and evaluate professional support. The results of these studies encourage further exploration of the issue and the implementation of measures to reduce this psychological impact.

Demystifying Knowledge Work Practices and Performance in the Public Sector

The performance of the public sector, especially its officers, is vital to a nation’s growth in light of the challenges clouding public service. Despite numerous efforts and initiatives, the level of efficiency of Malaysian public sector officers remains feeble, and public dissatisfaction has led to criticism of the administration. Therefore, addressing issues surrounding the performance of public sector officers is imperative to improve public perception. Guided by Drucker’s knowledge work productivity theory, this research aims to discover the relationship between knowledge work practices toward affective commitment (AC) and knowledge worker performance (KWP). This research adopted a cross-sectional design involving a survey of 395 administrative and diplomatic officers who were recruited via stratified random sampling. A variance-based structural equation modeling using Smart PLS 4.0 was conducted to analyze the data. Results show that job crafting (JC) and continuous learning (CL) improve KWP, job-related innovation (JRI) does not impact KWP, and AC exerts a mediating impact on the relationship between knowledge work practices and KWP. Unveiling the Subterranean Heritage: A Case Study of the Underground City of Kukës, Albania

Abstract This paper investigates the viability of conserving and repurposing Kukës’ underground city, which was built as a system of civil defence tunnels during the communist era in Albania. Beneath contemporary Kukës, the underground complex, which houses administrative offices and hospitals, is an important but underutilized historical and architectural asset. This study assesses the architectural elements, historical value, and present state of the tunnels using an extensive methodology that includes expert interviews, public consultations, on-site inspections, and archival research. Results highlight the site’s dual significance as a historical landmark and a possible center for innovation and tourism. The research offers strategic proposals for reviving the tunnels to strengthen the local economy, maintain cultural identity, and increase tourist attraction, drawing on foreign case studies. By promoting the inclusion of Kukës’ underground city in larger regional development projects and considering both community goals and pragmatic concerns, the article adds to the current conversations in urban planning and cultural preservation. Sustaining and repurposing Kukës’ underground city has various benefits, including enhanced cultural tourism and economic resurgence that encourage sustainable growth, the paper points out. Still, challenges like deteriorating infrastructure, security concerns, and accessibility issues must be overcome. Urban planners and politicians can apply the research’s practical implications by using it to develop a model for cultural preservation that aligns with modern social and economic goals. A sense of shared identity and legacy among the local community’s members is fostered by the initiative, which has significant social implications as well. The study has some drawbacks, including the need for significant funding and the potential for opposition from groups who do not recognize the advantages of these kinds of initiatives. To summarise, this research highlights the potential of adaptive reuse to bolster the sustainability and resilience of urban ecosystems by offering useful guidance and strategies that may be used to comparable initiatives worldwide.

Machine learning for urban land use/ cover mapping: Comparison of artificial neural network, random forest and support vector machine, a case study of Dilla town

The ability to accurately classify land use/cover (LULC) is critical for environmental monitoring and land use planning. This study compares three machine learning algorithms: Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Random Forest (RF) for LULC classification using Google Earth images from the years 2006, 2014, and 2022. The objective of this study is to evaluate and identify the best classifier for LULC classification and change detection. Four LULC categories (Built-up, Open area, Farmland, and Agroforestry) were identified. The evaluation criteria included overall accuracy, kappa coefficient, producer's accuracy, user's accuracy, computing time, algorithm stability, and visual quality. The results showed that the RF algorithm outperformed both SVM and ANN algorithms with an average overall accuracy of 0.97, kappa coefficient of 0.98, producer's accuracy of 0.99, and user's accuracy of 0.97, surpassing the accuracies achieved by SVM (0.96, 0.97, 0.98, and 0.97) and ANN (0.89, 0.81, 0.94, and 0.88), with corresponding computing times of 6.33, 15, and 30 s. All classifiers performed stably with different training sizes. Visual quality assessment revealed that RF had the highest precision. Consequently, the built-up change detection result shows, the net change in built-up area between 2006 and 2022 was increased by 0.74 Km2for ANN, 1.74 Km2 for SVM, and 1.66 Km2for RF. The comparison reveals that the RF algorithm showcasing high precision in detecting change, consistent with the data (increased by 1.65 Km2) obtained from Dilla town land administration office. To validate the results, the study considered field surveys, reference images, local experts, and previous studies. Based on the findings, the study concludes that using RF classifier with an object-based approach is an effective way to map LULC and detect changes in the study area over time. Future researchers are recommended to utilize this effective algorithm for addressing LULC related problems in the study area.

Non-compliance of State Administrative Officials with State Administrative Court Decisions that have Permanent Legal Force (Case Study of Bandung PTUN Decision Number: 06/G/2006/PTUN-BDG)

One of the implementations of the concept of the civil law state is the existence of an administrative judicial institution, namely the state administrative court. As the executor of judicial power, the state administrative court has the authority to issue decisions that are declarative, constitutive, and condemnatory. However, until now, the imposition of administrative sanctions still faces juridical challenges due to the voluntary mechanism for imposing administrative sanctions. The author of this study uses normative legal research methods. From this study, it is known that the factors that cause non-compliance of state administrative officials with state administrative court decisions are: (1). There is no special executive institution or sanctioning institution that functions to implement the decision; (2). There is a low level of awareness among TUN officials about obeying the TUN court decision; (3). There is no firmer regulation regarding the implementation of the PTUN decision.

서울시 청년 1인 가구를 위한‘상담 멘토링’프로그램 분석 및 개선방안 연구

Perhaps the biggest change that has occurred in Korean society recently is the increase in single-person households.In line with the trend of increasing single-person households, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has introduced and is carrying out a counseling mentoring program for single-person households from 2021.However, the discussion on the effectiveness of this program has not yet been fully conducted. Accordingly, in this study, telephone and written interviews were conducted centering on practitioners conducting counseling mentoring, and based on the contents, the program was analyzed and limitations and improvement plans were proposed from various angles. The study was conducted from late October to mid-November 2022 with an FGI interview with a person in charge who runs a single-person household counseling mentoring program. Ten Metropolitan boroughs were selected by adding 7 administrative officers who operated the counseling mentoring program and 3 administrative officers who did not operate counseling mentoring. If a counseling program for emotional support is introduced in a residential space using social housing, one of the housing services for single-person households, it is expected that community activities to be formed in social housing can be supported, and at the same time, intimacy with the current area and residential space will increase, leading to a sense of psychological stability. This study is meaningful as it proposes a highly effective counseling program tailored to the characteristics of Seoul.

Population in research This is students of the Administrative Education study program Medan State University Class of 2022 office with total respondents as many as 56 people. Data analysis techniques used in study This that is using analytical models regression multiple. Research result This show that in a way simultaneous Interpersonal conflict and cooperation group influential significant to Skills presentation students, that is of 30.5%. Whereas in a way Partial Interpersonal conflict is not influential to Skills presentation student.

The Relationship Between Organizational Culture And Job Satisfaction Of Hospital Administrative Officers

Organizational culture can influence the job satisfaction of hospital administration officers. Based on the preliminary survey, it was discovered that there were 3 hospital administration officers who stated that they were satisfied with their work because of the good organizational culture in the hospital. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between organizational culture and job satisfaction of hospital administration officers. This research uses analytical research and quantitative methods as well as a cross sectional study approach. The research population and sample were taken by total sampling, namely all hospital administration officers in the hospital, totaling 21 respondents. The research instrument used a questionnaire. Quantitative data analysis used the chi-square relationship test. The results of this research from 21 respondents based on the results of the Chi-Square test showed the significance of p between the independent variable, namely competence and the dependent variable performance, the result was 0.025 (p<0.05), so Ho was rejected and it was stated that there was a relationship. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between organizational culture and job satisfaction of hospital administration officers. Suggestions should provide knowledge of hospital organizational culture to increase job satisfaction for hospital administration officers

Evaluation of occupational risks due to acoustic emissions from laboratories at the UPC–Peru, 2022

An analysis of the hearing risk was carried out in the Mining Management Engineering laboratory of the UPC - Chorrillos, in the first stage of the investigation the noise level of 9 pieces of equipment in the laboratory was evaluated, finding that the jaw crusher, disc pulverizer , ball mill, extractor and core cutter exceed the LMP with averages of 90.61, 91.13, 92.18, 92.68, and 89.89 dB, respectively. In the second stage, the noise dose was monitored in 6 people, in the laboratory and 4 adjacent areas, revealing that the members of the laboratory were exposed to 87.21 and 86.64 dB, exceeding the LMP, the surrounding rooms showed exposures of 31.87, 32.78, 30.72, and 29.29 dB in the administrative office. In the third stage, a survey was conducted with 87 people indicating that 14% perceived the noise from the equipment as constant and continuous, 100% of the teachers, 80% of the administrative staff and 73% of the students feel discomfort due to the noise. noise in their work areas and 25% of respondents experienced physical discomfort due to noise.

Competitive Marketing Vigilance and its Relationship to Social Persuasion Among a Sample of Sports Equipment Sales Representatives in Iraq

The rapid transformations that are taking place today and due to multiple factors, including modern technological development and intense competition between sports institutions at the local and global levels with the aim of controlling the sports market and achieving superiority, have put marketing representatives in difficult situations, and increasing pressure due to the demand of administrative officials in the field of sales to increase their sales and profits on the one hand, and on the other hand, the demand of sports consumers to satisfy their multiple and different needs and desires, in addition to the presence of competitors for the sports institution produced locally and globally. With high quality standards, the sports marketing job will face great and difficult challenges. The research aimed to identify the relationship between competitive marketing and social persuasion among a sample of sales representatives of sports teams in Iraq, whose number of representatives was (60) delegates randomly selected from the total community. The descriptive approach was used in the relational method of the relationship. Competitive marketing and social persuasion measures were distributed to the sample with the need to confirm the answer as an alternative, and once the answer was completed, the questionnaires were collected, audited and processed statistically using appropriate statistical means. The researcher found that: sales representatives are characterized by competitive marketing and have the ability to convince the social consumer of sports, the possession of representatives to a degree of competitive vigilance in marketing has a positive ethical relationship with their ability to convince the sports consumer socially. Therefore, the researcher recommends when choosing sales representatives the need to distinguish competitive marketing due to their role in convincing the consumer to buy.

Expanding the roles of malaria post workers in Thailand: A qualitative study of stakeholder perspectives.

In Thailand, since the 2000s, malaria post (MP) workers have been tasked with promptly detecting and treating all malaria cases to prevent onward transmission in the communities. Expanding their roles to provide health services beyond malaria has been proposed as a strategy to sustain their activities until elimination is reached. This article examines the perspectives of stakeholders on community-based malaria care to assess prospects for expanding the role of MPs. The study incorporated in-depth interviews (IDIs) and focus group discussions (FGDs). In forested communities and local health facilities in northeast Thailand bordering Lao PDR and Cambodia, where malaria transmission is low, IDIs were conducted with 13 MPs and 23 community members. An additional 14 policymakers and implementers across the health sector in Thailand were interviewed. The respondents highlighted how in these border areas population groups most at risk of malaria, namely forest goers and migrants, are reluctant to visit public health facilities. In these areas, MP workers are well integrated in their communities and remain relevant although the communities no longer see malaria as spriority. Common conditions such as dengue, diabetes, insect bites, diarrhea, mental illness and substance abuse, were identified as local health concerns needing potential add-on services from MP workers. Although challenges in terms of training, supervision, and financing were raised, opportunities included additional funds from local administrative offices to maintain and integrate malaria activities with other health programmes. Changes to the roles of MPs should be adapted to changing local needs, some of which were identified in this study, should avoid duplication and potential tensions with other local health programmes, and need to build on the capacity of the community and primary care system. These enabling factors are worthy of consideration by any malaria programmes looking into maintaining their village malaria workers in the Greater Mekong Subregion.

User needs for coastal inundation at climate time scales: A multi‐sectoral case study in the coproduction of knowledge

AbstractCoastal regions are becoming increasingly vulnerable to flooding. Due to growing risk, there is a need for a variety of accessible flood inundation services and information to improve resilience and adaptation outcomes. To better understand these needs the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Office for Coastal Management and the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services collaborated to host five virtual workshops during the COVID‐19 pandemic to understand inundation needs and deficits of five professional sectors: coastal planning, transportation and navigation, realty and insurance, health and human services, and natural resource and floodplain managers. This paper outlines the information collected from these workshops, shares recommendations for future research to improve equitable coastal resilience and highlights the value of remote engagement for knowledge coproduction. From the project results, we share cross‐cutting topics that emerged and propose a need for greater equity, inclusive engagement, interagency coordination and future research directions through scientist‐stakeholder coproduction workshops for improved coastal resilience.

The Effect of Digitalization of Learning Media on Motivation and Online Learning Style of Office Administration Education Students Universitas Negeri Jakarta

This study aims to determine the influence of digitization of learning media on the motivation and online learning style of Office Administration Education students at the Universitas Negeri Jakarta. In the increasingly developing digital era, the use of digital learning media has become an important element in the educational process. This study uses a quantitative method with a sample of 100 student respondents who have used digital learning media during lectures, both inside and outside the campus. Data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires and analyzed using the SmartPLS (Partial Least Squares) approach. The results of this study show that the influence of digitalization and learning media has a positive and significant value on students' motivation and online learning style, then the online learning style of students also shows a positive and significant value on learning motivation. Meanwhile, digitalization has a significant indirect influence on learning motivation through its role in influencing students' online learning styles and learning media has a significant positive influence on students' learning motivation through online learning styles. These findings show that the influence of digitalization on learning media can provide good continuity to increase the motivation and online learning style of Office Administration Education students, Universitas Negeri Jakarta.

Collaboration or Hierarchy: Experimental Evidence on Governance Modes and Legitimacy Perceptions

ABSTRACTAmidst growing interest in collaborative governance as means to enhance the legitimacy of public governance, this article investigates public officials' perceptions of this governance mode. Despite theoretical propositions linking collaborative governance to enhanced legitimacy, empirical validation is scarce. Using a factorial survey experiment with 932 public officials in the Finnish central administration, the article investigates if collaborative governance promotes legitimacy compared with hierarchical bureaucracy. The results are clear: collaborative governance does not inherently boost perceived legitimacy, but rather undermines it. This study captures the causal relationships between governance modes, key governance traits (stakeholder opposition/support and majority opposition/support), and perceived legitimacy, thereby challenging prevailing theoretical assumptions about the merits of collaborative governance.

Internal bordering and debordering in urban humanitarian health care

ABSTRACT Current literature on internal bordering has suggested understanding health care as a key migration control field. This article takes a closer look at the humanitarian medical offices in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and patients from Romania and Bulgaria in precarious life circumstances. It addresses the strategies identified in the accounts of frontline workers beyond the mere provision of access to free and anonymous medical attention. Based on 16 interviews with medical staff, social workers and administrative officers, two approaches emerged. One clearly strives for the formalisation of the human right to health care in close collaboration with, or by challenging the local bordering actors; the other insists on bypassing any point of contact with them, focusing exclusively on informal and direct solutions. The interviews showcase how the resulting strategies can contribute to internal bordering and debordering on an urban scale, and affect the individuals’ trajectories as patients and as migrants.

Examining the impact of climate information access on adaptive behaviors during heatwaves: insights from Central Vietnam

This study focuses on the correlation between the different sources of climatic information involving the Short Message Service (SMS), social networks, local governments, online platforms, and workplaces and the individual adaptation measures concerning heatwaves. The survey data were obtained from four areas in central Vietnam involving 400 respondents. We used propensity score matching (PSM) to estimate the average treatment effect on the treated, aiming to mitigate selection bias. Findings indicate that the availability of various information sources encourages communities to address rising heat stress, with information sourced from SMS, social media platforms, local authorities, and workplaces being prominent. The findings signal the need to increase the visibility of heatwave data, which can change people’s behavior to reduce climate risks. In order to accomplish this goal, it is important to focus on climate change information sharing through platforms such as social networks, local administration offices, and the workplace in coping with climate change-related threats.

Crisis Management In Public Health: Responding To Emergencies And Disasters

The government has a lot of chances and challenges in the twenty-first century to improve public health and provide citizens with higher-quality services. Generally speaking, administrative officers oversee and carry out a variety of government activities at the local level. They are exposed to a variety of citizen-facing issues as well as the difficulties in carrying out ground-level project execution. They regularly handle a variety of crises. Pandemics, natural disasters, and any other scenario involving law and order present a serious challenge for the government. Officers in charge of public health services handle emergencies on the front lines. Communication, scenario assessment, and teamwork are essential for crisis management to be effective. Team procedures improve crisis management's responsiveness, velocity, and effectiveness. The brief duration of crisis situations means that little time remains for planning. Therefore, public servants need to be proactive and flexible enough to handle the situation. According to this work, an effort will be made to investigate the variables and how they interact to affect the government sector's ability to manage crises effectively as well as the interactions between the variables affecting the quality of e-governance services in public health administration.

Association of Age and Neurological Severity at Intensive Care Unit Admission With Driving Resumption Within 30 Days of Stroke: A Single-Center Historical Cohort Study.

Objectives Guidelines in several countries recommend against driving soon after a stroke; however, some patients resume driving within one month after onset. This study aimed to examine the relationship between neurological and social background factors at intensive care unit (ICU) admission and resumption of motor vehicle driving within 30 days of the first acute stroke/cerebral hemorrhage. Materials and methods Data were extracted from medical records of a single center linked to the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center Administration Office for Stroke Data Bank in Japan. The data included age, sex, Japan Coma Scale (JCS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), employment status, family situation, and outcomes of driving resumption in patients with a valid driving license transported to the ICU within 24 hours of stroke onset. Time-to-event analysis was used to explore the associations between these factors and driving resumption, with data censored 30 days from onset. Results In total, 239 patients had complete medical records, of whom 66 resumed driving. A multivariate Cox proportional hazards analysis showed that fewer patients aged ≥65 years resumed driving than those aged <65 years (hazard ratio 0.46; 95% confidence interval: 0.25-0.84; p=0.009). Patients with NIHSS scores ≥5 and JCS scores ≥1 were also less likely to resume driving compared with those with scores <5 (0.22; 0.08-0.56; p=0.008) and 0 (0.13; 0.04-0.37; p<0.001), respectively. Conclusions Age, NIHSS score, and JCS score at ICU admission are independently associated with the likelihood of resuming driving within 30 days of stroke onset. These findings may aid with the provision of support and education to facilitate the efficient resumption of driving after an acute event.
