Introduction. The current state of military education, including higher military education, the pace and depth of changes in the military education system do not fully meet the modern requirements of society, the state, the needs of military professionals for comprehensive personal development, implementation of a promising model of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the defense forces.Purpose. The purpose of the article is: to substantiate the directions of further development of the system of higher military education based on the analysis of its current state, identification of necessary changes in higher military education, to formulate current trends in change management of the system of higher military education and ways to implement them in higher military education.Methods. The following general scientific methods were used to study the problem to which the article is devoted: analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, a systematic approach to solving the problem.Results. Modern changes taking place in society, technology, knowledge, will require in the future from military specialists the ability to master new skills and professions, creativity of thinking. In future educational programs for graduates of higher military education, the most relevant should be the acquisition of universal competencies: the ability to learn, process information quickly, master new technologies, the ability to think critically and creatively approach tasks.The skills of system thinking, programming, intersectional communication, the ability to work in conditions of uncertainty, multiculturalism and multilingualism, environmental thinking, multifunctionality are becoming relevant. The high complexity of the tasks of the future requires military specialists to be able to concentrate, manage their emotions, maintain mental and physical performance, and plan their workload.Institutions of higher military education face the task of combining the development of students (cadets, students) of universal competencies and the simultaneous provision of specialized knowledge and skills within the chosen specialty and specialization. There will be changes in teaching methods related to the change of focus from teaching, transfer (translation) of knowledge to the active participation of students (cadets, students) in the educational process. The functions of the teacher in the future will turn into an environment for learning and managing the educational process. Forms of learning will be dominated by mixed forms (teacher-based learning and online learning), with the widespread use of digital technologies.The trend towards neo-industrialization, the rapid introduction and development of IT- technologies, environmental issues and other current trends in the future will change the structure of the most popular professions, including in the military sphere.Originality. The results of reforming and implementing changes in the system of higher military education should be systemic effects:national effect - full satisfaction of educational needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as the main customer of the system of higher military education and the sphere of security and defense of the state;social effect - improving the quality of training of military specialists through the use of innovative technologies in higher military education institutions, the acquisition by graduates of competencies in various fields of knowledge necessary to perform functional duties in the position and in the future;innovative effect - synthesis of basic and applied research, introduction of their results in the field of higher military education, their educational and practical activities;structural and organizational effect - unification of the management process of the higher military education system, reduction of duplication of functions of government bodies at all levels.Conclusion A promising model of the system of higher military education should ensure the implementation of a new educational concept, the fundamentalization and informatization of higher military education, its advanced development in relation to the needs of troops (forces)Further research on this issue will be continued during the research work "Substantiation of the principles of change management in the system of military education in the Armed Forces of Ukraine", code "Management-C".
