The aims of this scientific article is to study the emotional component of the economic subjects` behavior, in particular, emotional intelligence as a factor of business success and changing the paradigm of perception of necessary competencies in the business environment. It was noted that abstract models used in practice in their pure form produced systematic errors; some assumptions made during the construction of the model did not correspond to reality. At this stage of the development of economic thought, behavioral economics emerged as a field of knowledge that investigates the errors of human rationality in decision-making; studies the peculiarities of the influence of emotional, cognitive and social factors on economic decision-making. It has been established that mastering oneself and one's emotions affects the course of events in a person's life, and success or failure will largely depend on the skills of mastering emotions, that is, emotional intelligence. In the context of the need to determine the influence of emotional intelligence on human behavior, it is first necessary to assess its level, which is quite a difficult task, since entering a qualitative and relative characteristic into a quantitative model requires taking into account many factors, not all of which are measurable. Today, the survey method, developed according to certain methods, is mostly used to measure a person's emotional intelligence. From an applied point of view, the relationships between emotional intelligence and human labor and social activity have been revealed. The popularization of the role of emotional intelligence in the world determines its important role in the life of a person, but this must also be confirmed by empirical studies and specific cause-and-effect relationships, which is not quite a simple task in the context of the object of research, which is relative, qualitative and not yet adequately measured. An important direction of continuing research in this area should be determining the impact of intelligence quotient and emotional quotient on work results, namely the distribution of their contribution to the result.
