Enhancing Faculty Grading Productivity Using Robotic Process Automation (RPA): The Development of a Structured Query Language (SQL) Automated Grading Tool

ABSTRACT Using the design science methodology, we develop an automated grading bot using robotic process automation (RPA) software. This grader demonstrates RPA’s capability to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of grading structured query language (SQL) queries. Validation of the RPA grader demonstrates that it can grade assignments and/or exams in 30 to 60 minutes, a task that would take a human grader approximately 50 hours. In contrast to human graders, who misgraded 5 to 8 percent of queries, the RPA grader graded all queries correctly. Notably, it correctly evaluated 188 distinct correct solutions submitted by students to a single question. To facilitate broad adoption, we provide instructions and the necessary code for implementing the RPA grader. We validate that professors and teaching assistants can successfully implement the RPA grader even with no previous bot building experience.

Evaluation of a clinical orientation Call Center during the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic

During sanitary emergencies such as the recent pandemic, health services can collapse. In these cases, remote orientation services such as call centers may help to debottleneck these services. To assess the demand and problem resolution of a clinical guidance telephone service during the COVID-19 pandemic. The call registry between May and August 2020 of an orientation call center for COVID-19 was analyzed. The number of calls, sociodemographic features of callers, type of enquiry and given indications were described. We analyzed 1,278 telephone calls, corresponding to 655 people. Sixty nine percent of queries were resolved during the call and in 31% of calls, users were referred to face-to-face evaluation. Two percent of these referrals were to an emergency service. The call center had a high level of resolution, favoring remote consultation and reducing face-to-face care, improving users'accessibility.

Analysis of Flooding DoS Attacks Utilizing DNS Name Error Queries

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a critical Internet infrastructure that provides name to address mapping services. In the past decade, Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks have targeted the DNS infrastructure and threaten to disrupt this critical service. While the flooding DoS attacks may be alleviated by the DNS caching mechanism, we show in this paper that flooding DoS attacks utilizing name error queries is capable of bypassing the cache of resolvers and thereby impose overwhelming flooding attacks on the name servers. We analyze the impacts of such DoS attacks on both name servers and resolvers, which are further illustrated by May 19 China’s DNS Collapse. We also propose the detection and defense approaches for protecting DNS servers from such DoS attacks. In the proposal, the victim zones and attacking clients are detected through monitoring the number of corresponding responses maintained in the negative cache. And the attacking queries can be mitigated by the resolvers with a sample proportion adaptive to the percent of queries for the existent domain names. We assess risks of the DoS attacks by experimental results. Measurements on the request rate of DNS name server show that this kind of attacks poses a substantial threat to the current DNS service.
