KOINONIA SEBAGAI MODEL PENGEMBANGAN PASTORAL PARIWISATA HOLISTIK DI KEUSKUPAN RUTENG

The Ruteng Diocese Church expressed social concern for the pace of tourism development in Labuan Bajo by declaring 2022 as the year of holistic tourism. Holistic pastoral tourism seeks to integrate the economic, cultural, ecological, ethical, and spiritual dimensions of tourism. The scientific article aims to explore how coinonia can be used as a model in developing holistic pastoral tourism in the Diocese of Ruteng. The research used a method, is a qualitative analysis method with a literature study approach which includes analysis of documents, articles and books related to the theme being reviewed. Based on the research results, it was concluded that the coinonia aspect has a very important role in efforts to develop holistic pastoral tourism. The application of the coinonia model can increase collaboration between pastoral sectors such as families, schools, the younger generation, children and teenagers, as well as adherents of other religions. This collaboration can support sustainable tourism development. The author offers the coinonia model of the Ruteng Diocese Church which has sacramental values, solidarity, subsidiarity and liberation in every pastoral program as an effort to develop holistic tourism pastoralism.

PAROKI RAMAH ANAK SEBAGAI WUJUD DIAKONIA GEREJA TERHADAP PERSOALAN HUMAN TRAFFICKING

The Catholic Church pays full attention to efforts to eradicate human trafficking that affects children Catholic Church pays full attention to efforts to eradicate human trafficking that affects children and women. The Church realizes that human trafficking is a humanitarian issue that must be handled seriously. Humans, including children and women, are the image of God and have the same dignity as all people. This concern is a form of Church diakonia, namely serving and protecting the small and weak. One of the Church's efforts is realized through a child-friendly parish program. A child-friendly parish is a pastoral program that prioritizes children to grow integrally as members of the Church. The approach used to obtain information about child-friendly parish programs is qualitative, using interview and observation methods. From this research it is concluded that the child-friendly parish program as a form of Church diakonia has not been fully understood and realized in parish life. So at the end of this article the author states several responsibilities of the Church as a form of Church diakonia in relation to human trafficking cases and offers several practical efforts that can be made by the Church to improve the quality of Church services to children through child-friendly parish programs.

PENGUATAN IDENTITAS SEKOLAH KATOLIK MELALUI PENERAPAN PROGRAM PASTORAL SEKOLAH DI SMAK ST THOMAS AQUINO MOJOKERTO

This research aims to determine the efforts of Catholic schools, especially SMAK St. Thomas Aquino Mojokerto in carring out the process of strengthening the identity of Catholic schools, especially through school pastoral programs. Strengthening the identity of Catholic schools is a means of integrating the values of the Catholic faith. Integrating the values of the Catholic faith can be done through a school pastoral program implemented with the aim of helping students become familiar with the teachings of the Catholic faith and forming good character of the students. In this research the author uses a qualitative approach focusing with a case study method. Research data collection was carried out using observation, interview and documentation techniques. The research data analysis was carried out using a condensation approach.The results of research show that the school pastoral program is a means of strengthening the identity of Catholic schools at SMAK St.Thomas Aquino Mojokerto. Through this school's pastoral program, the Catholic values in the form of faith in God, social values of justice, morality, intellectual values and love have been taught to students at SMAK St. Thomas Aquino Mojokerto aims of strengthening the identity of this Catholic school.

A Realist and a Prophet: The Role of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński during Communist Rule in Poland

Largely thanks to the outstanding personality and leadership talents of Cardinal Wyszyński and his great authority, the Catholic Church in Poland did not fully submit to the Communist power; in contrast, it not only retained but also significantly increased its influence in society. The plan to break up the church and atheise Poles ended in defeat, and the primate of the millennium played a key role in this failure. Thanks to the pastoral programmes he prepared and carried out, the Catholic faith and attachment of Poles to the church deepened significantly. This movement can also be traced to an increase in independent and oppositional attitudes towards the authorities of the Polish People’s Republic, which significantly gained strength in the 1970s, the most important expression of which was the establishment in 1980 of the Solidarity social movement. It was this significant role of the church that distinguished Poland from other countries in the Soviet bloc, which did not have a leader of such stature as Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński.

Impact of Bereavement Rituals on Psychological Wellbeing of the Bereaved among the Tiv People of Benue State, Nigeria

Bereavement rituals are deeply ingrained in the cultures globally and are considered important for maintaining the psychological well-being of the bereaved. In Nigeria, they are an integral part of the cultural heritage rooted in social, cultural, and religious practices. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of bereavement rituals on the psychological wellbeing of the bereaved among Tiv people of Benue State, Nigeria. The study adopted a Descriptive Survey Deign; and was conducted in Tiv in Benue State, Nigeria. Target population was Tiv in Benue State. Random sampling was used to select the 397 respondents who were bereaved Tiv People from the target population. Instrument for data collection was questionnaires. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. Specifically, mean and standard deviation were used in answering research questions 1 while correlation was used in answering research question 2. The study found that Cultural Bereavement Rituals affect the Psychological Wellbeing of the Tiv People in Benue State positively. It was concluded that bereavement rituals have influence on the psychological wellbeing of the bereaved among Tiv people. It was therefore recommended among others that, Traditional rulers should promote the act of cultural bereavement rituals practiced by the people such as wearing of traditional attire, participating in music and dance among others when they lost loved ones; the Church should create a Pastoral Programme to accommodate Tiv indigenous knowledge systems and Psychological Counselling to provide social counselling.

Jak kochać Polskę w „świecie nieładu”? Pedagogika narodowa zmartwychwstańców oraz ich kręgu

The article presents an overview of the analysis of the principles of national pedagogy formulated by members of the Congregation of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the circle of people close to it (“external brothers”). The pedagogy was based on the conviction that since the Partitions, the Polish territories have been the site of “moral and spiritual battle” (Walerian Kalin¬ka). The captivity of the partition period was not only a political enslavement, but also carried se¬rious dangers for the Poles to preserve their national identity based on the Christian cultural code. The partitions – as claimed by the Resurrectionists and the “external brothers” – were a revolution of their own, but also encouraged the emergence of a revolutionary situation in the lands of divided Poland, either through the simplified reception of “Western-revolutionary currents” (Hieronim Kajsiewicz), or by revolutionizing Polish society through the destruction of its organic social ties. As a basic remedy for such a state of affairs, the Resurrectionists and “external brothers” indicated that the Poles needed to preserve the Catholic faith and the morality that flows from it. This is a ba¬sic condition for the Polish nation to maintain its prospects for political revival. This, in turn, also requires “forethought patriotism” and nurturing “organic works” ( Jan Koźmian). According to the author of the article, the national pedagogy formulated that way, indicating life in accordance with the Christian faith and morality as a basic condition for the Polish nation to regain its freedom, was taken up and developed by the great teaching and pastoral programs of the Blessed Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński and St. John Paul II.

Bishop John Philip Saklil’s Theological Preference for The Indigenous Papuans: An Attempt to Respond to People's Doubts

This research explores and answers the question: What is Bishop John Philip Saklil's contribution to developing the Indigenous Papuans of the Timika Diocese Catholic Church? The church’s workers will use the answer to the question in making pastoral programs in their parish and responding to the people’s doubts about the church’s ministry and its preference for indigenous Papuans. This research was also made to increase people’s awareness of the problems in Papua and how important it is for us to give priority to Indigenous Papuans. The method used in this study is an analysis of two books related to Bishop Saklil: "The Church and Human Tragedy in Timika Diocese, Collection of Statements of Attitudes and Voices in the Mass Media" and "Mgr. John Philip Saklil, Pr, Founder of the Timika Diocese". Apart from that, the researcher, as a diocesan priest in Timika, directly observed the Bishop’s life from 2012-2019. This observation enriches the analysis of the two books mentioned above. Bishop Saklil's contribution to the support of the Papuans in Timika Diocese is Bishop Saklil's preference towards his ‘flocks’ who are Indigenous Papuans (Ind: Orang Asli Papua). There are two ways in which Bishop Saklil manifests his alignment with the Indigenous Papuans: First, by continuing to speak out against the injustice and incivility experienced by everyone in the land of Papua, particularly the Indigenous Papuans. Second, working in silence and continuing to struggle to tear down the building system creates unjust situations.

Pendampingan Remaka Dengan Youth Learning Community Model Di Paroki Santo Gabriel Pulang Pisau

This study aims to offer a model of mentoring the youth learning community in the Santo Gabriel Pulang Pisau Parish. The model is called the Youth Learning Community in assisting youth at Santo Gabriel Pulang Pisau Parish, as a means of cultivating the development of youth faith. This study also describes previous assistance used for mentoring youth at the Santo Gabriel Pulang Pisau Parish. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The research data was obtained using interviews conducted with 4 youths, 1 Senior OMK, 1 Catechist and 1 Priest. The data obtained was analyzed with the benefit of the "Miles" analysis method which was divided into three stages, namely reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the research, it was concluded that the mentoring program through the pastoral program had not been implemented optimally. This conclusion was based on the statement of one informant who revealed that "the assistance has been running so far, but programmatically through the parish program has not run optimally. Therefore, this research offers a model for youth accompaniment as a pastoral strategy to foster youth faith development.

Catechesis on the Sustainable Economic Pastoral Program for the People of Mocok Station in Saint Arnold Janssen Parish, Ponggeok

Ruteng Diocese has launched 2023 as a sustainable economic pastoral year. As part of the Ruteng Diocese, the Saint Arnold Janssen Ponggeok Parish has the obligation to socialize sustainable economic pastoral programs to the people through catechesis in each Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) in March and April 2023. This obligation is rather difficult to carry out because the number of catechesis facilitators is limited. The number of BECs is more than the number of facilitators. To overcome this problem, the Community Service Team (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat, PkM) of the Theological Education Study Program of the Indonesian Catholic University of Santu Paulus Ruteng offered assistance. The selected location is Mocok Station. This station has 14 BECs. The PkM team functions as facilitators in each BEC. The activity was carried out twice in March 2023. This community service aims to inform the Ruteng Diocese's sustainable economic pastoral programs to the people of Mocok Station and stimulate their commitment to the success of the programs. The method used was 3M, namely, to look at (Melihat) the social reality of the people, to evaluate (Menilai) the reality in the light of the Word of God, and to plan actions (Merencanakan) to respond to the reality that the Word of God has enlightened. As a result, people understood the importance of utilizing the natural resources they have and the need to build work ethics in order to have a better quality of life. In addition, the people expressed their intention to be involved in the Ruteng Diocese's sustainable economic pastoral program. They succeeded in formulating and deciding on a concrete action plan that was in line with the aim to increase the people’s wellbeing in each BEC.

Sexual Morality of Young Poles as a Challenge for Religious Education

As indicated by numerous sociological reports, the morality of young people is currently undergoing dynamic changes, and this applies especially to morality in the sphere of sexuality. The purpose of this article is to analyze the opinions on sexual morality expressed by young Poles. The results of this analysis can help to develop a better program for their religious education. The analyses are based on the results of social quantitative surveys conducted in 2020 on a random sample of 410 high school seniors (age 18–20) residing in cities of various sizes and in rural areas. The research verified the following leading hypothesis: “The morality of young Poles regarding sexual activity is becoming increasingly autonomous and is formed independently of the morality model that is offered by leading educational institutions, particularly family, Church, and school”. The detailed hypotheses were only partially confirmed. The empirical material presented in the article confirms that the moral education of youth in the sphere of human sexuality currently being implemented in Poland is inefficient and requires changes to several pastoral postulates. First of all, young people must not be treated as passive recipients of pastoral programs or strategies. They want to be the creators of the social, cultural, and religious changes taking place. Reaching the hearts of young people with the message of the Gospel requires immersing oneself in their life experience, perceptions, and understanding of reality, as well as their highly individualized axiology and complex decision-making processes. Young people should be set moral requirements also in the sphere of sexuality, as this is necessary for their personal development and the preparation of the foundations for a good life as an adult; however, this must be done with perceptible love and from the position of a witness of a positive and happy life.

Penghulu’s Contribution to the Strengthening of Religious Moderation in Nunukan Regency

The aim of this study is to investigate the role of the prince in promoting religious moderation in Nunukan Regency. It is also focus on examining the implementation of religious moderation in the performance of the prince's duties, as measured by the religious moderation indicators of the Ministry of Religion, namely national commitment, tolerance, anti-violence, and accommodation of local culture. This qualitative investigation was conducted at the office space of the Ministry of Religion, Nunukan Regency. Following this, the acquired data in this study were examined in accordance with the theory of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drafting. The results show that the presence of the penghulu in the community as the executor of public services in the kepenghuluan sector and as a religious figure gave the penghulu a strategic role and position in promoting religious moderation in Nunukan Regency. The role of the Penghulu in bolstering religious moderation through the implementation of tasks, such as marriage or reconciliation services and guidance, as well as the development of leadership and guidance for the Islamic community and their religious character, contributes to the maintenance of a safe and hospitable environment in Nunukan Regency, thereby preserving its pluralism. Furthermore, the chieftains in this Regency have generally implemented the four indicators of religious moderation established by the Ministry of Religion through the execution of their duties, activities, and pastoral programs. The role of the penghulu in promoting religious moderation in Nunukan Regency was examined in this study since the description of the penghulu's activities pertaining to handling and assisting the potential for socio-religious conflict has not been thoroughly explored.

The Alleged Decline of Liberation Theology: Natural Death or Attempted Assassination?

Is liberation theology dead or in decline? This article analyzes factors that have led to that perception and provides evidence to the contrary. It demonstrates that the theology has survived multiple attempts by certain sectors of both church and state to eliminate it, and that it remains very much alive in grassroots pastoral programs and social movements. Support for this last statement is provided by the author’s field research in Brazil. The article concludes with signs that liberation theology will endure as it continues to inspire spiritually motivated people who commit themselves to addressing human needs by promoting social justice.

Fellow believers helping persons addicted to pornography by becoming an embodiment of love

Considering the growing problem of different internet addictions and their impact on individuals, couples, families, the church and society, it is important that churches seek to address the need for effective loving guidance in their pastoral care. This article examines a way in which congregations could help a person addicted to pornography to grow to freedom. A literature study was done to describe pornography addiction and compared it to cybersex. Subsequently, the influence on relationships of constant involvement in pornography is discussed, followed by a discussion of the relationship between sexual addiction and intimacy, and the causes of the fear of real-person intimacy. The healing of wounds that have led to the pornography addiction is investigated. The Journey Program is also analysed to discern its theoretical framework and investigate the biblical foundation of each of its metatheoretical starting points. Finally, practical theological guidelines are proposed for pastoral care of the pornography addict in the context of a congregation.Contribution: This article contributes to the understanding of pastoral care to the pornography addicted person and to the founding of a pastoral program based on the Word of God according to the convictions of Reformed theology.

SOCIALIZATION AND STRENGTHENING THE PASTORAL YEAR OF HOLISTIC TOURISM AT ST. MIKAEL KUMBA PARISH

The Catholic Church of Ruteng Diocese has declared 2020 as the Pastoral Year of Holistic Tourism. The Church wants tourism to be an opportunity for Catholics to build the common good, and promote global brotherhood and unity. This Tourism Pastoral should be implemented in parishes, sub-parish, regions, and members of the Basic Ecclesiastical Communities (BEC) throughout the diocese. To introduce and implement tourism pastoral programs to the whole people, a Community Service Program (CSP) was designed. The CSP subject and partner were the BECs leaders in the Bethany Community of Santu Mikael Kumba Parish. The goal was for partners to recognize the nature of the 2022 Holistic Tourism Pastoral Year, recognize strategic programs and be willing to implement programs within their respective communities and BECs. The CSP method used consists of 3 main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. As a result, the CSP socialization has been completed. The target partners were enlightened by the socialization and understood the work program of the Catholic Church better. They were also ready to implement existing programs and develop regional internal programs and KBGs. This program was recommended to be carried out more often, both in the same theme and in different contexts and themes.

Corporal punishment in Secondary schools in Kenya: Issues and challenges

Banning of corporal punishment in Kenyan schools since 2001 has sparked intense debate to both parents and teachers on management of discipline in schools. In the recent months after resumption of learning due to Covid-19 Pandemic, many schools have experienced unrest leading to burning of dormitories, classes and even learners assaulting teachers. The study was tasked with the analysis if divergent views on corporal punishment and justice in schools towards character formation. In addition, the study examined the issues and challenges in addressing discipline in secondary schools and finally established whether Kantian ethics can facilitate attaining of character formation and training in Kenyan secondary schools towards disciplined citizenry. The study found out that corporal punishment is still being used in secondary schools in Kenya despite the ban because of the cultural and ethos orientation despite the government advocating for contemporary forms of discipline and effective guidance and counselling in schools. The study found out that despite the retributive theoretical orientation, Kantian ethics can equally facilitate the character education and training of the young towards moral values and disciplined citizens. The study recommended for the revitalised teacher training and capacity building in a humanization education and training towards adoption of multidimensional approaches in handling discipline issues in the school set up for instance pastoral programme, Chaplaincy services, Volunteer /charity works to expose learners to realities that meet their attention to deviate their naive way of looking at reality. In addition, involving students in formulating school rules and regulations alongside each penalty to re orient learners towards sound moral judgment of their acts.

Popular-Indigenous Catholicism in Southern Mexico

This paper examines popular indigenous religiosity in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca in the 1990s, in the context of a “progressive” pastoral program formed within the campaign of the New Evangelization, and attuned to the region’s large indigenous population. Based on ethnographic research in an urban Oaxacan context, I offer an account of the popular Catholic ritualization of death which highlights its independence, and sensuous, material, collective orientation. I approach popular Catholicism as a field of potential tension, hybridity, and indeterminacy, encompassing the discourses and teachings of the Catholic Church in continuous interaction with people’s own sacred imaginaries and domestic devotional practices.

ANALISIS PENGARUH MANAJEMEN PELAYANAN PASTORAL TERHADAP KEPUASAN UMAT WILAYAH III PAROKI SANTA FAMILIA SIKUMANA KEUSKUPAN AGUNG KUPANG

The focus of this research is to analyze the influence of the management of pastoral service on the satisfaction of the people in region III, Santa Familia Sikumana Parish. This is due to the perception that the management of pastoral service implemented in this parish is less than optimal. The sample in this study amounted to 199 people. Data collection uses a questionnaire and document study, while data analysis uses descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The result showed that descriptively the achievement of the management of pastoral service indicator was 60.81% and people's satisfaction was 53.44%, meaning that both variables were in the fairly good category. Based on inferential statistical analysis, it is known that there is a positive and significant influence of the management of pastoral service on the satisfaction of the people of Region III Santa Familia Sikumana Parish (count value of 15.387 and sig. 0.000 value <0.05). The suggestions offered are that the parish priest needs to implement a management-based pastoral program, involve relevant parties, consistently disseminate pastoral service programs using relevant media, organize and supervise the performance of the pastoral team and parish staff; regional head needs to develop a pastoral service program in region III that are synergistic with parish programs and mobilize people to be actively involved in the program; people need to be critical-constructive towards the implementation of parish pastoral service management and participate in all existing pastoral programs.

Ruteng Diocese has launched 2020 as a pastoral year. This designation of a pastoral year is closely related to the pastoral focuses of previous years. Previously, a focus on pastoral care has been launched which includes four areas, namely sanctification (2016), proclamation (2017), fellowship (2018) and ministry (2019). These four focuses assume a leadership (shepherd) who is responsible for directing this pastoral care. Of course, the ordained shepherds, the bishop and priests, were responsible first. In addition, the participation of the people is also important. For the success or failure of these pastoral programs is dependent on the commitment and also good cooperation between ordained pastors and baptized pastors throughout the Ruteng Diocese. Catholic Religious Education Teacher is one of the many baptized pastors. He/ She is one of the components that has an important role in carrying out pastoral programs, especially in the field of education. A Catholic Religious Education Teacher is obliged to carry out the role of a shepherd in the sphere of education. The pastoral role of a Catholic Religious Education Teacher is based on the dignity of the sacrament of baptism and also by a special vocation as a pastoral officer who is specially prepared through education with a pastoral or catechetic background. In this article, the author emphasizes the role of a Catholic Religious Education Teacher as a school pastor in his capacity as a teacher/ educator. He/ She plays his/ her pastoral role in schools when teaching, guiding and motivating students and other faith formation activities in the context of implementing pastoral programs launched by the diocese. In carrying out the role of a baptized pastor, a Catholic Religious Education Teacher must have his own spirituality. And the spirituality of the shepherding of a Catholic Religious Education Teacher comes from Jesus himself as the True Shepherd. By being guided by the spirituality of pastoral originating from Jesus the true Shepherd, it is hoped that a Catholic Religious Education Teacher will be able to carry out his/ her pastoral mission well in the school.

Sharing in the Eucharistic Sacrifice of Christ

Staying in the stream of the pastoral program of the Church in Poland, which is carried out under the slogan “Gathered at the Holy Supper,” the content of the article focuses on the analysis and synthesis of the documents of the Magisterium of the Church and theological publications on the Eucharistic sacrifice. First, the article discusses the Eucharistic making present of the sacrifice of the Cross as a gift of glorified Christ, and then draws attention to the active participation of the faithful in the Eucharistic making present of Calvary. The context of God’s mercy in the Eucharistic Sacrifice is also emphasized. The climax of the article is the interpretation of the eschatic dimension of the Eucharist, confirmed by the testimony of the life of Christians, joining in the sacrifice of Christ and in his death and resurrection, which result in the perfect joy of the saved in heaven.

Mariological Dimension of the Theological and Pastoral Concepts of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, Primate of Poland

W powyższym artykule zaprezentowano analizę jednego z fundamentalnych aspektów nauczania Kardynała Stefana Wyszyńskiego jakim jest mariologia rozumiana w kategoriach prakseologicznych. Podjęta przez autora eksplikacja materiałów źródłowych ma za zadanie ukazać zaufanie do Maryi, Matki Kościoła, które odegrało niewątpliwie ogromną rolę w życiu i posłudze biskupiej Kardynała Wyszyńskiego. Rola i przymioty Maryi wpisane zostały tutaj w praktykę duszpasterską mającą na celu integralną odnowę moralną człowieka i narodu polskiego. Co więcej, opracowany przez Prymasa maryjny program duszpasterski oparł się naciskom komunistycznego aparatu władzy państwowej. Dzięki temu, stał się odpowiedzią na wiele zagrożeń, jakie niosła ze sobą powojenna rzeczywistość społeczno-polityczna, przyczyniając się do zachowania tożsamości i niezależności kulturowej Polaków.Zamierzeniem autora powyższej publikacji jest syntetyczne ukazanie spojrzenia Kardynała Stefana Wyszyńskiego na Maryję jako na Matkę Boga-Człowieka i Matkę Kościoła. Eksploracja powyższych badań opierać się będzie na analizie tekstów źródłowych dokonywaną metodą historyczno-teologiczną. W konsekwencji, autor niniejszego artykułu starał się uchwycić i zarysować nie tylko mariologię Prymasa Tysiąclecia i zawarte w niej istotne treści teologiczne. Ważnym elementem powyższych badań jest ukazanie jej wymiaru pastoralno-prakseologicznego, przejawiającego się w różnorodnych inicjatywach duszpasterskich, w których nie tylko wyidealizowany pietyzm i admiracja, ale przede wszystkim głęboka wiara i zaufanie do Maryi Królowej Polski i Matki Kościoła odgrywały fundamentalną rolę.
