In differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), the incidence of bone metastases of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is relatively low, with primary sites including the spine, pelvis, and ribs. While metastasis to the phalangeal bones is particularly rare. Here we reported a case of right ring figure metastasis in a 53-year-old woman with PTC. The right ring figure lesion was confirmed to be metastatic PTC by pathologic examination and immunohistochemistry.

We present the 18 F-AlF-NOTA-pentixather PET/CT findings in a 53-year-old man with papillary thyroid carcinoma and cervical lymph node metastases. The patient underwent 18 F-AlF-NOTA-pentixather PET/CT for evaluation of primary aldosteronism, which incidentally revealed a thyroid neoplasm. PET/CT demonstrated increased radiotracer uptake in a thyroid mass and bilateral cervical lymph nodes, suggesting neoplastic involvement. Postoperative histopathology confirmed anaplastic thyroid carcinoma with lymph node metastases.

The World Health Organization classification of renal cell tumors was updated to its fifth edition in 2022 and incorporated significant changes with contributions from pathologists and radiologists. In the 2022 updated classification, epithelial renal tumors are now divided into six categories. Four of these six categories represent the major subtypes of renal tumors: clear cell renal tumors, papillary renal tumors, oncocytic and chromophobe renal tumors, and collecting duct tumors. Two additional categories, representing relatively rare renal tumors, termed other renal tumors and molecularly defined renal carcinomas, have been introduced. While neoplasms in the other renal tumors category are classified on the basis of their histopathologic features, similar to the major subtypes, molecularly defined renal carcinomas represent a new category based on molecular characteristics. In recent years, the number of these rare subtypes has increased significantly. Many of these relatively rare renal tumors represent conventional subtypes that have been reclassified or renamed. Notably, papillary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC) type 2 has been reclassified as other renal tumors or molecularly defined renal carcinomas. As a result, many tumors in these two categories demonstrate gradual enhancement, similar to the enhancement of pRCCs. However, one or more of the following features may differ from those of typical pRCCs: patient age, growth pattern, nonenhanced attenuation at CT, degree of enhancement, homogeneity, T2 signal intensity, and presence of metastases. Careful evaluation of these features can raise suspicion for a rare subtype and is essential for guiding urologists in determining the surgical strategies and guiding pathologists in selecting appropriate immunohistopathologic and/or genetic tests for accurate diagnosis. ©RSNA, 2026 Supplemental material is available for this article. To investigate the antitumoral and pro-inflammatory effect of Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) following systemic or intravesical borophenilalanine administration, and to compare it with conventional radiotherapy (cRT) in an experimental bladder cancer (BC) model. Sixty-four Wistar rats were used, of which half were exposed to carcinogen to induce BC. Radiation therapy (RT) was performed both in the MARK TRIGA-II reactor for BNCT and in the Radiation Oncology divison for cRT. After necropsy, bladder and perivesical tissues were collected. Tumour staging, tumour burden, proliferative, and apoptotic indexes were evaluated for bladder samples. Bladder and perivesical tissues (colon, uterus, and anterior abdominal wall) were also assessed for inflammatory changes in H&E-stained sections, and also bladder TNF-α expressions was examined by immunohistochemistry and Western blot. The animals with cancer had a 15-30% decrease in tumour burden after RT. The incidence of persistent papillary urothelial carcinoma was 100% in the Cancer-cRT group and 87.5% in the Cancer-BNCT-Sys group, whereas a lower incidence was observed in the Cancer-BNCT-IV group (71.4%). A lower proliferative and a higher apoptotic indexes were observed in Cancer-BNCT-IV group compared to Cancer-cRT. Immunohistochemistry and Western blot for TNF-α expression showed that pro-inflammatory response in bladder was lower in BNCT-IV groupamong cancer treated groups. Moreover, there were lower proinflammatory adverse findings in perivesical tissues, including colon and uterus, in animals receiving BNCT-IV. Similar to cRT, systemic or intravesical BNCT resulted in a partial decrease in tumour burden, but fewer adverse findings by intravesical borophenilalanine.
