1. The total nonuniformity of the flow behind a turbine cascade is the result of the superposition of potential and viscous perturbations, the ratio between these depending on the type of cascade. 2. The change in the flow nonuniformity behind the cascade is more complicated than would appear on simply considering the aerodynamic wakes behind the outlet edges. 3. In constructing the stage it is desirable to make use of information regarding the flow nonuniformity in separated form: the potential, viscous, and total perturbations ϰp, ϰv and ϰ∑. These results and conclusions should be taken into account when studying both the perturbing forces and the additional energy losses arising from the transient interaction of the blade systems of turbodynamos. 4. The curve of the first harmonic of the total nonuniformity ϰ∑I(δz,l), required when analyzing the excitation of blade vibrations, may possess extremal properties, the level and disposition of the minimum depending on the type of cascade employed.
