Use of Social Media for Political Participation Among Junior High School Students at Hadji Butu School of Arts and Trades

This study explored the utilization of social media for political participation among junior high school students at Hadji Butu School of Arts and Trades during School Year 2024-2025. Employing a descriptive-correlational research design, the investigation involved 100 purposively sampled respondents. Data analysis incorporated weighted mean, standard deviation, t-test for independent samples, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation test. The key findings revealed that: 1) The majority of respondents were female Grade 10 students with parents who attained high school education and earned an average monthly income of 5,001-10,000; 2) Students generally perceived a moderate impact of social media on their political participation; 3) Among the demographic variables examined, only parental educational attainment showed significant influence on students' assessment of social media's political impact, while gender, grade level, and parental income demonstrated no significant effects; 4) Strong correlations were identified between the types of social media platforms used, political activities engaged in, and the nature of social media's perceived impact; 5) The results provide empirical support for Mobilization Theory, Reinforcement Theory, and the Spiral of Silence Theory, affirming social media's potential as a political engagement tool, its role in reinforcing existing political behaviors, and its influence on self-censorship due to perceived social risks. These findings contribute to understanding how digital platforms shape political engagement among adolescent learners in educational contexts.

This research method uses an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments (P0: No Concentration, P1: TAN Concentration 0.010 ppm, P2: TAN Concentration 0.025 ppm, P3: TAN Concentration 0.050 ppm, P4: TAN Concentration 0.075 ppm) and 3 replications, so that there are 15 total experiments. Real-world evaluation of care consumption and the redistribution of care time across healthcare roles due to remote patient monitoring in heart failure

Abstract Background Remote patient monitoring (RPM) for heart failure (HF) focuses on daily health value monitoring to detect HF decompensation, aiming to reduce hospital readmissions through preventive care. The implementation of RPM introduces changes to standard care practices and shifts responsibilities among various healthcare professionals. However, the extent to which the implementation of RPM affects both healthcare consumption and time spent by different healthcare providers remains unclear. Therefore, this study aims to retrospectively evaluate the aforementioned effects by comparing real-world data of two hospitals, one with RPM implementation (Hospital 1) and one without (Hospital 2). Methods Patients with HF diagnosed between June 2021 and June 2022 were included from a retrospective HF dataset available at a cardiac care quality registry, and were followed for one-year post-diagnosis. Cardiological healthcare consumption was captured in both number and duration and categorised into admissions, specialist physical visits, specialist phone consultation, nurse physical visits, nurse phone consultation, and nurse RPM consultations. Three groups were compared: Hospital 1 RPM, Hospital 1 usual care (UC), and Hospital 2 (UC). The number and time spent on consultations by nurses and specialists were compared, along with the number and duration of admissions per patient, using one-way ANOVA tests. Results A total of 131 patients were included (Hospital 1 RPM: 34, Hospital 1 UC: 64, Hospital 2: 33). The number of consultations was significantly higher in the RPM population compared to both Hospital 1 UC and Hospital 2 (p<.001). The time spent on consultations was consequently significantly higher (p<.001). Most of this additional amount and time in the RPM population was taken care of by nurses, as they saw a significant increase in both number of consultations (p<.001) and time spent on consultations (p<.001). For the specialists, no significant decrease was found in the amount of time spent (p=0.267) and number of consultations (p=0.430). No differences in number of admissions (p=.433), duration of admission (p=.372) or mortality (p=.620) were found between the three groups. Discussion: This study evaluates the initial implementation of RPM at Hospital 1, added on top of UC. It was noted that a substantial amount of time (90-120 minutes) was spent onboarding each patient for which the nurses did home visits. After removing onboarding time, the increase in time spent remained significant. Conclusion Implementation of RPM was associated with an increase in worktime and number of consultations for nurses, while not significantly decreasing the amount of time and consultations for specialists. Future refinements to the care pathway are needed to optimize resource allocation. HEALTH AND WELL-BEING PRACTICES AMONG SELECTED RESIDENTS IN LUUK, SULU

The health and well-being habits of a sample of Luuk, Sulu people were examined in this study. With 120 residents of Luuk, Sulu chosen through a purposive sampling process, it used a descriptive quantitative research design. Frequency, percentage score, weighted mean, standard deviation, t-test for independent sample, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's test of correlation were used to analyze the data. The findings are as follows: 1) Most respondents were female, aged 21–40 years and older, married, had formal education, were mostly unemployed, and had three to six family members living in their home; 2) Most respondents generally reported moderate health and well-being practices in their respective households;3) When data were grouped by occupation, educational attainment, and gender, substantial disparities were discovered in the health and well-being practices as perceived by a subset of inhabitants. When data were categorized by age, civil status, and the number of family members living in the home, no discernible variations were found. These noteworthy results also demonstrate the perceived advantages of WASH practices in fostering improved health and wellbeing. This is in line with the societal-Ecological Model, which emphasizes the importance of individual, societal, and environmental factors influencing behavior, and the health belief model, which emphasizes how people's beliefs about health risks and benefits drive behavioral changes. 4) This study emphasizes a highly positive significant association between sanitation and water access, a moderately positive significant correlation between water access and hygiene, and a lowly positive significant correlation between sanitation and hygiene due to the significant correlation. Lastly, this study highlights the need of incorporating common behaviors to close health awareness gaps and remove obstacles to community well-being. To encourage better health and well-being practices in the community, culturally sensitive community-based interventions, health programs, and collaborations with the LGU and the community may be given careful thought.

Challenges and Perception on the Adoption of Point-of-Sale System among Micro and Small Enterprises in Tacurong City

This study generally sought to determine the relationship between challenges experienced and perception of micro and small enterprises in Tacurong City on the adoption of point-of-sale system. A quantitative descriptive research method was utilized, employing a non-experimental design and correlational analysis to establish the relationship between challenges and perception. A total of 39 respondents were selected using non-probability sampling, and adapted questionnaires were utilized to collect data. Statistical tools such as frequency and percentage, mean, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA test, Pearson r, and multiple regression were utilized to analyze the data. Adapted questionnaires were constructed and deployed to provide evidence against the null hypothesis. Results indicated that challenges were rarely experienced, and perception was positive. The size of the business affected both challenge level and perception, while the type of POS used and industry type affected challenge and perception levels, respectively. Challenges had a low negative correlation with perception, indicating that perception decreases as challenges increase. Furthermore, the best domain that influences the perception is operational challenges.

The Impact of Age and Gender on Cervical Vestibular-Evoked Myogenic Potentials Using 500 Hz Tone Bursts Stimuli: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background and objective Cervical vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (cVEMP) tests have attracted significant interest as clinical measures of vestibular function recently. A detailed knowledge of the potential individual factors influencing the cVEMP response is, however, essential for the reliability of the test. Hence, we aimed to analyze the trends of different cVEMP parameters with regard to changes in age and gender, under standard recording conditions. Methods cVEMP was conducted on 60 participantsaged 18-60 years during the period from April 2023 to March 2024. cVEMP parameters, including response rates, amplitude, interaural amplitude asymmetry, threshold, threshold asymmetry, and latencies, were investigated for the impact of aging and gender differences. One-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis tests were performed for the comparison between the age groups, while unpaired t-test and Kruskal-Wallis test were employed to find the gender differences in cVEMP parameters. Pearson correlation analysis was performed to assess the relationship between age and cVEMP parameters.Statistical significance was set at a p-value of 0.05. Results cVEMP response rate was 100 % in all the age groups. Significant differences were found in terms of p13-n23 amplitude and threshold (both right and left ear)between the age groups (p<0.001) (Kruskal-Wallis test). A significant negative correlationwas found between age and both uncorrected and corrected amplitude in both the right ear (r = -0.73, p<0.001) and the left ear (r = -0.75, p<0.001). A significant positive correlation was observed between age and thresholds in both the right ear (r = 0.66, p<0.001) and the left ear (r = 0.75, p<0.001). There were no significant variations regarding p13 and n23 latencies, interaural amplitude asymmetry, and threshold asymmetryamong the age groups (p>0.05) (one-way ANOVA) (Kruskal-Wallis test). Gender did not demonstrate variations in the cVEMP parameters tested (p>0.05) (unpaired t test and Kruskal-Wallis test). Conclusions cVEMP had an absolute detection rate in the age groups studied. However, a remarkable age-related decline in p13-n23 amplitude (corrected and uncorrected) and the threshold values highlights the importance of effective consideration ofchanges in age for optimizing the clinical evaluation. p13 and n23 latencies, and amplitude asymmetry were relatively stable with increasing age. The findings related to cVEMP evoked with 500 Hz short tone burst stimuli in adults (aged 18-60 years) can beutilized in the regional clinical settings.

Evaluating the feasibility of conventional and digital impressions of full-arch by the absolute linear deviation method: an in vitro study

BackgroundIntraoral scanners (IOS) facilitate dental treatment, but the efficacy in full-arch scanning remains controversial. The aim of this study was to compare arch deformations between conventional impressions (CIs) and digital impressions (DIs) across six distinct spans in the maxillary and mandibular models, using the absolute linear deviation method.MethodsStandard maxillary and mandibular models, each with seven cylindrical landmarks added, were used as the reference. CIs and DIs as test scans (n = 15 each) were performed on the models using silicone impression material and three IOSs: CS3600, Trios3, and Trios5. The trueness of the distances and angles between the remaining cylinders and initial scanning cylinder were evaluated. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis and One-way ANOVA tests, with the Bonferroni test for post hoc analysis (α = 0.05).ResultsDeviations of DIs increased gradually from smaller spans to full-arch spans, while deviations of CIs remained stable. Within a 5-tooth-units, DIs provided superior trueness compared to CIs (P < 0.05), except for ΔL8, where the results from four impression methods were comparable (P = 0.28). For other measurements, CIs exhibited significantly better trueness than three IOSs (P < 0.05).ConclusionsThe current accuracy of IOSs was insufficient for full-arch applications, but suitable for short scan ranges (fixed prostheses within a 5-unit span).

FACTORS AFFECTING THE EFFICIENCY OF TRIAGE SYSTEM IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM OF SULU SANITARIUM AND GENERAL HOSPITAL

The scope and notable variations in the effectiveness of the triage system in the emergency departments of Sulu Sanitarium and General Hospital were examined in this study. Using a purposive sampling technique, it used a descriptive-quantitative research design with 38 employees at Sulu Sanitarium General Hospital. Frequency, percentage score, weighted mean, standard deviation, t-test for independent samples, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's test of correlation were used to analyze the data. The results show that: 1) Most of the respondents are female, between the ages of 26 and 35, have served for 1 to 5 years, are on a job order, and have a bachelor's degree. 2) Respondents generally indicated that the triage system's effectiveness at Sulu Sanitarium and General Hospital was moderately impacted; 3) When data are categorized by age, length of service, employment position, and educational attainment, there is typically a notable difference in the degree of efficiency of the triage system at Sulu Sanitarium and General Hospital. However, when data are categorized by gender, no discernible difference is found. 4) The subcategories included under the parameters influencing the effectiveness of the triage system at Sulu Sanitarium and General Hospital have an overall positive significant connection. Additionally, this study appears to confirm Ludwig Von Bertalanffy's Systems Theory from 1940, which emphasizes that the effectiveness of processes like triage depends heavily on how well personnel, resources, protocols, and communication channels cooperate. This fosters an understanding of the value of taking a comprehensive approach to solving issues and improving efficiency in order to support long-term enhancements in operational effectiveness and patient care. Last but not least, this study emphasizes the significance of triage systems in emergency rooms. To improve healthcare services, particularly in emergency rooms, healthcare professionals may take into account standardized triage programs, frequent audits of medical resources and equipment, and active participation of healthcare professionals in various training and development programs.

Effect of copaiba oil-resin on dental sensitivity control and color change after bleaching: A randomized clinical trial.

This randomized clinical trial evaluated a copaiba oil-based gel in controlling dental sensitivity (DS) and color change after dental bleaching. Seventy-five volunteers were randomized into three groups (n = 25): GC (placebo gel - negative control); GKF2% (gel of 5% potassium nitrate and 2% sodium fluoride - positive control); and GCO (copaiba oil gel). Three bleaching sessions were performed using 35% hydrogen peroxide (HP 35%), with 7-day intervals. The desensitizing gels were applied for 10min in each group. The DS was evaluated over 21days using a visual analog scale (VAS). Color evaluation was done with a spectrophotometer before and after bleaching using the CIEDE2000. The DS was assessed between groups (Kruskal-Wallis test) and within groups (Friedman test). The color change was analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test. GCO and GKF2% showed the lowest sensitivity values, with no significant difference (p < 0.05). In the intragroup analysis, GCO and GKF2% showed no differences across the three whitening sessions (p = 0.974, p = 0.213, p = 0.143, respectively). Conversely, GC exhibited an increase in DS after the last session (p = 0.035). All groups showed color change, without statistically significant differences between the groups (p = 0.725). The copaiba gel reduced dental sensitivity after treatment with 35% hydrogen peroxide, without affecting the bleaching effectiveness. The topical application of the experimental copaiba oil gel was effective in reducing dental sensitivity after bleaching with 35% hydrogen peroxide.

Effect of corncob powder concentration on properties of inlay waxes

Background: Corncob powder is a promising filler that needs to be assessed when it is incorporated into inlay waxes to modified its properties. Purpose: This study aims to investigate the effect of different concentrations of corncob powder filler on physical and mechanical properties of inlay waxes. Methods: Five groups of inlay waxes were prepared from paraffin, corncob powder, carnauba wax, and beeswax in varying proportions (w/w%), namely, group I (70:0:25:5), II (65:5:25:5), III (60:10:25: 5), IV (55:15:25:5), and V (50:20:25:5). The wax mixture was heated at 80°C, filtered, added with corncob powder, and stirred until homogeneous then poured into mold for melting point, residue on ignition, flow, hardness, and trimming samples. They were based on ANSI/ADA specification no.122 and ASTM D 1321. The data were analyzed through one-way ANOVA, post-hoc LSD, and Tamhane tests (p = 0.05), except trimming test data. Results: One-way ANOVA revealed that the concentration of corncob filler influenced all inlay waxes properties (p&lt;0.05). LSD and Tamhane post-hoc test, showed significant different among mostly between groups of tests. Addition corncob powder increased the melting point, hardness, and residue of inlay waxes but decreased the flow of inlay waxes. Addition corncob did not influence the trimming property of inlay waxes. Conclusion: The concentration of corncob filler added in inlay wax compositions influenced the melting point, flow, hardness and residue properties but did not influence trimming properties. Inlay wax containing 10% corncob filler potential as a local inlay wax, but further research should be done to overcome the residue on ignition property that higher than standards.

In Vitro Assessment of Fibroin Silk Incorporated Glass Ionomer Cement for Solubility

Background: Glass ionomer cement (GIC) is widely used in restorative dentistry due to its biocompatibility and fluoride-releasing properties. Incorporating silk fibroin into GIC has shown promise for enhancing its mechanical properties and reducing solubility, potentially improving its clinical performance.Objective: This study aimed to compare the solubility of commercially available glass ionomer cement (control) with GIC modified with silk fibroin at 1%, 3%, and 5% by weight.Materials and Methods: The study was conducted at Sardar Begum Dental College and Hospital – Peshawar. Specimens were prepared according to ISO guidelines using silk fibroin incorporated at 1%, 3%, and 5% concentrations by weight, mixed through a ball milling process. Solubility tests were performed by immersing specimens in distilled water at 37°C for 7 days. Statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS version 16.0, with one-way ANOVA and Tukey's HSD test used to determine significant differences (p &lt; 0.05).Results: Mean solubility values for the control group (Group A) were 0.000050 µg/mm³, while 1% silk fibroin (Group B) showed 0.000056 µg/mm³. The 3% silk fibroin group (Group C) demonstrated the lowest solubility at 0.000028 µg/mm³, while 5% silk fibroin (Group D) exhibited the highest solubility at 0.000084 µg/mm³. One-way ANOVA confirmed significant differences among the groups (F = 32.159, p &lt; 0.001), with Tukey's HSD test revealing significant reductions in solubility in Group C compared to Groups A and B (p &lt; 0.05).Conclusion: Incorporating 3% silk fibroin significantly reduced the solubility of GIC, indicating its suitability for improved dental applications. Aim: This study's primary goal is to assess how social media distractions affect students' academic performance. The research gap for this study is determining the precise effectsofsocial media distractions on study habits, time management, and general academic performancein the contemporary digital era, even though numerous researchers have undertaken surveysonthis subject. Material and Methods: A self-made questionnaire created with Google Forms andan analysis of previous research articles on the subject served as the foundation for thisinvestigation. Students' answers to the questionnaire about their study habits, social mediause, and academic achievement were gathered. Excel and SPSS IBM Version 26 were usedtoevaluate the gathered data, and statistical methods such as the independent t-test, one-wayANOVA, and correlation analysis were used. Tables and figures are used to display the analysisand findings. Results and Discussion: Students' answers were used to assess howsocial mediadistractions affected their academic performance. Social media use and academic achievement were found to be significantly correlated by the SPSS tool analysis. Academic scores anddaily social media screen time were shown to be related, as indicated by the independent T-test'ssignificant value of 0.004. Students' desire to cut back on social media use in order to improvetheir academic performance was examined using the one-way ANOVA test, which producedasignificant p-value of 0.054. To gather information from workers in a variety of industries on their experiences, difficulties, and opinions on career advancement, a self-made survey was createdanddisseminated using Google Forms. SPSS, IBM Version 26, and Microsoft Excel were usedfordata analysis. One-way ANOVA, the independent T-test, and correlation analysis were used. Results and Discussion: The employee responses revealed information about work-life balance, mentorship possibilities, training access, promotions, and career development trends for bothonsite and remote workers. With a p-value of 0.038, a statistical study employingtheindependent T-test demonstrated a strong correlation between work style and career progressionchances. Job satisfaction ratings across various work modes were analyzed using the one-wayANOVA test, which produced a significant p-value of 0.011. With a Pearson correlationvalueof0.027, correlation analysis was utilized to ascertain the degree of association betweenperceptions of professional growth and access to skill development programs. Accordingtotheresearch findings, the majority of employees recognize that there are prospects for professional advancement in both onsite and remote work environments. However, distant workers strugglewith networking and recognition, whereas onsite staff members enjoy the advantages of direct mentoring and visibility. Strategic initiatives, including equal access to training, virtual mentorship programs, and defined performance evaluation criteria, must be put in placeby organizations to guarantee that all workers, regardless of work mode, have equal possibilities forcareer advancement.

This study investigates how university students' career decision-making is impactedbytheirawareness of artificial intelligence (AI). Few studies have looked at howstudents' understanding of AI influences their career choices and capacity to adjust to the changinglabor market, despite the fact that prior research has concentrated on AI's impact onemployment patterns. Analyzing differences in AI awareness and its impact across variousacademic fields, skill development, and career confidence is the aim of this study. Materialsand Methods: A survey of college students and a thorough literature evaluation of peerreviewed sources served as the foundation for this study. To evaluate AI familiarity, opinionsabout AI-driven employment opportunities, and its impact on career decision-making, astructured questionnaire was disseminated using Google Forms. Stratified randomsamplingwas used to ensure representation across fields among the 106 students who took part inthestudy. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Version 26, employing statistical tests suchasthe Chi-Square test, Independent Samples T-Test, and One-Way ANOVAto identifysignificant relationships. Results and Discussion: A statistical study showed that therearenotable variations in the ways that job ambitions are influenced by AI awareness. Studentswith high and low awareness of AI showed significantly different levels of career confidence(p &lt; 0.05), according to the Independent Samples T-Test. Students in AI-intensive fieldsdemonstrated higher career adaptability and confidence in AI-driven job markets, accordingto the One-Way ANOVA test (p &lt; 0.01). Students who knew more about AI were more likelyto look into occupations that involved AI, according to the Chi-Square test, which showeda strong association (p &lt; 0.05) between AI awareness and career decisiondeterminants.Conclusion The study comes to the conclusion that university students' careerdecisions, skill development, and ability to adjust to changes in the labor market areall greatly impacted by their awareness of AI. Students who are more exposed to AI showgreater confidence in occupations powered by AI, but those who are less informed mayfindit more difficult to explore career options. Universities and legislators should incorporate careercounseling, skill-building initiatives, and AI-focused curricula to maximize career readiness. Future studies should examine the ethical implications of AI in professional development, cross-cultural differences, and AI literacy initiatives.

EXPLORING QUALITY OF LIFE IN TRANS MEN, TRANS WOMEN, AND NONBINARY INDIVIDUALS IN DENMARK - A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY

Abstract Objectives Quality of life is a crucial determinant of both health outcomes and psychological well-being. Prior research indicates that trans men, trans women, and nonbinary individuals frequently report lower quality of life than their cisgender counterparts, often encountering minority stress, which includes discrimination, external stressors, and individual vulnerabilities stemming from adverse societal pressures. Cultural gender norms and expectations further shape these individuals’ perceptions of how freely they can express their gender identity, often influencing both their sense of agency and the potential social consequences of gender expression. Comparative studies that delve into differences across these gender identities, however, remain limited. Methods This cross-sectional study analysed the quality-of-life differences among nonbinary individuals, trans men, and trans women through a Danish-translated questionnaire distributed online via advocacy organisations. The sample included 218 participants (61 trans men, 117 trans women, and 40 nonbinary individuals). We employed chi-square and one-way ANOVA tests to evaluate associations between gender identity and quality of life indicators, focusing on socioeconomic factors, mental health, and gender expression. Results Findings reveal that trans women had higher average incomes and educational achievements than trans men and nonbinary participants, even when correcting for age differences. All groups exhibited significant mental health challenges, including depression, shame, and suicidal ideation, with trans men reporting higher self-harm rates. In terms of gender expression, most trans men consistently presented according to their gender identity, whereas trans women and nonbinary individuals often adapted their expression to social contexts and expectations. Many participants reported feeling their transition was incomplete. Conclusions This study underscores distinct disparities in quality of life across gender identities, influenced by socioeconomic, cultural, and mental health factors. The findings highlight the complex interplay of these elements within transgender and nonbinary communities. Future longitudinal research is recommended to clarify these dynamics further and guide targeted interventions to improve the quality of life in these populations. Conflicts of Interest None.

Performance of AI-Chatbots to Common Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMDs) Patient Queries: Accuracy, Completeness, Reliability and Readability.

TMDs are a common group of conditions affecting the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) often resulting from factors like injury, stress or teeth grinding. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy, completeness, reliability and readability of the responses generated by ChatGPT-3.5, -4o and Google Gemini to TMD-related inquiries. Forty-five questions covering various aspects of TMDs were created by two experts and submitted by one author to ChatGPT-3.5, ChatGPT-4 and Google Gemini on the same day. The responses were evaluated for accuracy, completeness and reliability using modified Likert scales. Readability was analysed with six validated indices via a specialised tool. Additional features, such as the inclusion of graphical elements, references and safeguard mechanisms, were also documented and analysed. The Pearson Chi-Square and One-Way ANOVA tests were used for data analysis. Google Gemini achieved the highest accuracy, providing 100% correct responses, followed by ChatGPT-3.5 (95.6%) and ChatGPT-4o (93.3%). ChatGPT-4o provided the most complete responses (91.1%), followed by ChatGPT-03 (64.4%) and Google Gemini (42.2%). The majority of responses were reliable, with ChatGPT-4o at 93.3% 'Absolutely Reliable', compared to 46.7% for ChatGPT-3.5 and 48.9% for Google Gemini. Both ChatGPT-4o and Google Gemini included references in responses, 22.2% and 13.3%, respectively, while ChatGPT-3.5 included none. Google Gemini was the only model that included multimedia (6.7%). Readability scores were highest for ChatGPT-3.5, suggesting its responses were more complex than those of Google Gemini and ChatGPT-4o. Both ChatGPT-4o and Google Gemini demonstrated accuracy and reliability in addressing TMD-related questions, with their responses being clear, easy to understand and complemented by safeguard statements encouraging specialist consultation. However, both platforms lacked evidence-based references. Only Google Gemini incorporated multimedia elements into its answers.

Protective Role of Royal Jelly on the Growth of the MCF-10A Cell Line Treated with Cisplatin

Background: Royal jelly (RJ) possesses numerous beneficial properties. When used in conjunction with pharmacological agents, it may enhance the inhibition of tumor growth and help manage the side effects induced by drugs. Objectives: The present study aimed to examine the simultaneous effects of RJ and cisplatin on the growth rate of normal breast cells. Methods: The MCF-10A cell line (CRL-10317) was obtained from the Avicenna Research Institute cell bank in Iran. Following cell culture (at 37℃ in an incubator with 5% Co2), the cells were treated with serial concentrations of cisplatin and RJ, ranging from 0 to 5 - 10 - 20 - 30 - 40 - 50 - 75 - 100 - 250 μg/mL and 500 μg/mL, respectively, for durations of 24, 48, and 72 hours. Cell viability was assessed using the MTT assay, with one-way ANOVA and post-hoc tests (LSD and Tukey) for statistical analysis. The study protocol was approved by the Ethics Committee of Islamic Azad University, Tehran Medical Branch (IR.IAU.PS.REC.1401.138). Results: Cisplatin alone reduced MCF-10A cell growth across all time points (P &lt; 0.0001). Royal jelly at concentrations above 40 μg/mL increased cell growth after 48 hours (P = 0.00217) and 72 hours (P &lt; 0.0001). Combined treatment initially decreased growth (P &lt; 0.0001), but higher concentrations stabilized cell viability after 72 hours, suggesting a protective effect. Conclusions: Royal jelly demonstrates a protective role against cisplatin-induced toxicity in normal breast cells, potentially preserving healthy tissue during chemotherapy. These findings, while promising for adjunctive therapies, require further validation in diverse cell lines and clinical settings to confirm generalizability.

Comparative analysis of the efficacy of intravenous tramadol plus ketorolac vs adductor canal block for postoperative pain in total knee arthroplasty

Background &amp; objectives: postoperative pain is a significant factor for the distress and sleep disturbance for the patients undergoing surgeries, and it is equally true for the knee arthroplasty. Anesthetists have employed various means to control pain including various analgesic drugs. For the last few decades, there has been an increased tendancy to use regional blocks. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of Adductor Canal Block (ACB) with intravenous analgesia using tramadol plus ketorolac to relieve postoperative pain in knee arthroplasty. Methodology: This study was conducted in 32 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty. Group A received intravenous analgesia tramadol plus ketorolac (n=15), while group B received ACB (n=17) postoperatively. Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) was used to to assess the pain at rest and on motion. Range of Motion (ROM) on flexion and extension, was examined in both groups on postoperative days 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. Patients who had NRS-rest and NRS-motion &gt;3, received, intravenous fentanyl 50 µg. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using the One-Way ANOVA test and Spearman test on SPSS 18.0 software. Results: Intravenous analgesia group (Group A) significantly had greater ROM for flexion than the ACB group (P = 0.001), but not in the ROM-extension (P = 0.351). There was no significant difference in the NRS-rest and NRS-motion (P = 1.000). However, the NRS of the intravenous analgesia group was lower than the ACB group. Conclusion: Intravenous analgesia with tramadol ketorolac is better than adductor canal block in providing a greater range of motion. However, both techniques did not have a significant difference in the Numeric Rating Scale. Gender and age are considered to be confounding factors for the study. Model Development of History Teaching Materials Local History Based for High School With SOI Approach

The aims of this study were to: ( 1) find out the substance of local history material in Indonesian history teaching materials used in SMA Surakarta; ( 2) Constructing the development of Indonesian history teaching materials based on local content; and ( 3) Testing the effectiveness of local content-based Indonesian history teaching materials using the Selecting, Organizing and Integrating (SOI) approach in history learning at class XI Surakarta Senior High School in increasing understanding of local history. To achieve these goals in this study used research and development methods or Research and Development (R&amp;D). The R &amp; D method is a research method used to produce certain products, and test the effectiveness of products. The R &amp; D method is considered the most appropriate for this research problem. This research seeks to make products in the form of local content-based history teaching materials, as well as to test the effectiveness of using these teaching materials in learning Indonesian history according to the specified targets and criteria. This research was carried out in 4 stages , namely: (1) Exploration; (2) Model development; ( 3) Model testing; and (4) Dissemination . The results of the study show that : ( 1) The quality of Indonesian history teaching materials in high schools that have been used so far only includes material substance from basic competencies in the national curriculum. The existing teaching materials are based on a grid that has been developed in BSNP which emphasizes national political events, while local history materials have not been accommodated in teaching materials. Based on the KTSP rules, teachers can develop teaching materials according to the potential of their region. ( 2) Development of teaching materials by combining local history in the Surakarta area with existing materials and teaching materials based on the national curriculum starting from: (a) Preliminary study to determine needs; (b) Development of prototypes using the SOI. Local history material is selected from oral sources and artefact sources and integrated with national curriculum material so that teaching materials based on local content are structured; (c) An expert assessment is carried out on prototypes of teaching materials and other products developed including the instruments used to measure the effectiveness of teaching materials; (d) Limited tests and broad tests were carried out on instruments and products with a larger number of schools; and (e) Finalization. ( 3) From the results of the effectiveness test it is known that the use of local content-based history teaching materials can improve students' understanding of history in high school as evidenced by the results of the one-way ANOVA test between the experimental class and the control class . It is hoped that research will contribute to the development of history learning, especially in local history learning through the development of teaching materials. Teachers can use this research product as a reference in developing history teaching materials based on local content.
