High temperature fencing for continuous steelmaking unit

A new method of iron recovery and continuous steel production with in-line vacuuming is described. Constructive solutions for refractory fencing are proposed, as well as the evaluation and selection of materials for the multilayer lining of the proposed installation. Technical solutions have been selected to extend the service life of high-temperature fencing using water-cooled panels that ensure the formation of a garnish. Numerical modeling of the process of the growth of the garnish layer is carried out.

Investigation of converter copper slag reduction using spent cathode carbon as a reductant

ABSTRACT Aiming to address the difficulty of harmless treatment of fluorine in spent cathode carbon (SCC) and high metal content in copper slag, a new method of sustainable production of Fe-Cu alloys by reducing converter copper slag with SCC is proposed. Thermodynamic studies show that Fe-Cu alloys can be obtained at temperatures higher than 1250 °C and fluorine can be effectively fixated. Feasibility experiments were carried out in conjunction with theoretical analyses to clarify the feasibility of the method. At 1500 °C, the recovery of copper and iron reached 93.37% and 78.51%, respectively. During the smelting process, the iron-bearing phases in the slag forms Fe-Cu alloys with copper under high temperatures reducing conditions, and the fluorine is fixated in the slag through conversion to CaF2. This method achieves the effective utilisation of SCC during the reduction smelting process. The phase transformation and thermodynamics of the reduction process were investigated, and reaction mechanism was revealed. The process provides new ideas and perspectives for the environmentally sound treatment of SCC through a pyrometallurgical processes.

System of Wheat Intensification: An Innovative and Futuristic Approach to Augment Yield of Wheat Crop

There is a new method of wheat production called the System of Wheat Intensification (SWI) that manages seed treatment, seed rate, spacing, weeding, and watering. The SWI and traditional methods of wheat sowing differ from each other in terms of potential yield. In comparison to the traditional method of wheat sowing, SWI allows seed treatment, which increases the number of tillers, the number of grains in spike, and the weight of the grain. Wheat seeding in the traditional approach is done at a much closer distance than in the SWI method, which results in faulty germination as a result of increased competition between the plants. In SWI, proper root formation in the early stages of crop growth can be encouraged by increasing the space between plants and rows, as well as increasing the density of plants. For small and medium-sized farmers, it is a great way to boost productivity and income while reducing food poverty at the same time. Using organic manure instead of chemical fertilizer is a new strategy that helps support sustainable agriculture. To help the poorest farmers and enhance their productivity and profit, SWI should be recommended.

Security scenarios: 3D Printed Firearms

The aim of this study was to determine possible future scenarios if 3D printed firearms were to be manufactured in society. These scenarios provide a closer examination of the factors influencing the use of this relatively new method of firearms production. We reviewed the factors in 3D printed firearms that are relevant to various security authorities. Scenario analysis enables the examination of problem-solving for this multi-dimensional, multi-layered and multi-scale phenomenon. The topic was approached from a systemic perspective based on complexity thinking. The scenario-creation method employed five forecasting techniques applicable to the Playbook for Strategic Foresight and Innovation (Carleton, 2013). A context map created the basis for factor analysis, generational arcs, white spots and expert panel. The scenarios were developed into a structural format, allowing for the description of coherent entities. Upon analysing the scenarios, it was found that the ease of manufacturing 3D printed firearms could lead to a rapid increase in their numbers, potentially resulting in decreased internal and external security. The networking of manufacturers could also enable the production of weapons for individuals who previously did not have access to firearms. On the other hand, 3D printed firearms could open up new legal uses and possibilities. This paper analyzed NFT cases for each type based on the type classification provided by Opensea the world's No. 1 NFT marketplace, and explored the possibility of NFT being used in the entertainment industry. Among the nine types in total, including Art, Photography, Music, Gaming, Sports Collectibles, Memberships, Profile Pictures (PFPs), Virtual Worlds, and Domain Names, eight of them showed potential for integration with the entertainment industry. Each type could be categorized into three directions: NFT as digital merchandise, NFT as a new method of content creation and production, and NFT as a means to expand and enhance fandom and intellectual property (IP). We hope that the various cases presented and the analysis in this study can inspire various genres of entertainment businesses, such as music, film, musicals, and performances. We also hope that ongoing research from various perspectives on technology, content, and industry markets will contribute academically and industrially.

Thermomechanical Plasticization of Fruits and Vegetables Processing Byproducts for the Preparation of Bioplastics

AbstractByproducts of the processing of foods are usually non‐edible residues that are typically discarded, even though they contain large amounts of natural polymers with great potential in bioplastics and biocomposites preparation. Herein, a new method of production of vegetable‐waste‐derived biocomposites is developed. It consists of the thermomechanical processing of different residues in the presence of small amounts of water, representing an advancement in the state‐of‐the‐art in the complete conversion of fruit and vegetable biomass into biocomposites. In particular, carrot pomace (CP) is processed by compression molding at different temperatures, pressures, and times. Selected processing conditions are also applied to other food processing byproducts. The morphological, mechanical, barrier, optical, and antioxidant properties of the obtained biocomposites and their interaction with water in terms of moisture content, water solubility, and moisture absorption are reported here. Results indicate that biocomposites obtained by this method present similar properties compared to biocomposites prepared by acid or alkaline hydrolysis of biomass reported in the literature, but still inferior compared to bioplastics currently in the market. Improvements in the materials' interaction with water are highlighted here as the necessary next step to achieving the transition toward greener bioplastics.

MANAGEMENT OF PLANT PRODUCTION (NARCISSUS L.) THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF NON-STANDARD GROWING METHODS IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE FINANCIAL VALUE OF PRODUCTION

Geophytes are plants of high biological diversity that depends to a great extent on the growing process. Based on what is stated, any new method of production of Narcissus L. has a decisive effect on its production. The aim of the study is to determine if it is possible to achieve better economic-agricultural results with a new method/form of plant growing (Narcissus L., Amaryllidaceae). Under the conditions of the Pannonian environment the production of two methods/forms of growing is compared. By measuring physical plant parameters (p=.00) the results show that the production is better using the standard method of growing. The realized value on the market is higher for the plants grown using the standard method of production (p<.05). The contribution of the author of the study is to indicate a new way of growing, which leads to a higher total value of production.

РАЗВИТИЕ ТЕХНИКИ КАК ОСНОВА ЦИФРОВОЙ ТРАНСФОРМАЦИИ ЭКОНОМИКИ

Technical and technological re-equipment in modern conditions must be perceived as a process of increasing the technical equipment of economic sectors by replacing physically and morally obsolete and worn-out machines and equipment with intelligent technology, the use of more advanced production methods to increase labor productivity and reduce costs. Coupling the predictive stages of the socio-economic development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 with technological modes allows us to correlate the fifth technological cycle with the stages of innovative development in order to simultaneously transfer the technical potential of economic sectors from the fifth to the sixth technological mode. It involves the digital transformation of technology as the basis for the development of an innovative economy, which provides favorable conditions for the transfer of domestic digital technologies into production, the technological sovereignty of the industry and the country's food security. The use of agricultural machines equipped with high-tech, innovative designs and solutions in the conditions of a real agricultural business will contribute to the large-scale digitalization of the industry, which serves as a significant trend in the development of the domestic economy. The empirical and comparative research methods used have revealed the need to take measures to accelerate the process of transition to a new technological method of production based on intelligent technology using new types of energy, digitization of jobs and production of technotronic equipment in order to neo-industrialize the country in the period from 2021 to 2030.

Fabrication of foam concrete by use of novel foam generator — vortex jet apparatus: study of foam concrete properties

A new method of foam concrete production by use of vortex jet apparatus (VJA) is studied. The foam produced by VJA exhibits high stability and narrow size distribution of the bubbles’ diameter and the latter correlates well with diameters of foam concrete pores. VJA is a compact device allowing to generate foam without compressor, inhausting the air from the ambience resulting from vacuum in the center of vortex flow. Owing to additional opportunities (compared e.g. with usual axial ejector) like ability to suck the air, longer residence time and higher kinetic energy transformed further into dispersion of the bubbles new device lets to control the parameters of the foam and the density of the foam concrete, thus allowing to create foam with smaller diameter of the bubbles and higher stability. A mechanism of large pores isolation during water absorption tests was proposed. Main properties of foam concrete produced in this study: real and apparent densities, open and total porosities, thermal conductivity and thermal capacity, water absorption, compressive and flexural strengths have been measured; their values fully meet the requirements of Russian and French standards. The main part of pores was attributed to the open porosity because of very close values of total and open porosities. Equations characterizing relative mass of water absorbed by the foam concrete and the fraction of open porosity filled with the water were found as functions of apparent density. It was found that foam concrete production with wide range of densities (from approx. 480 till 1640 kg/m3) is easily attainable by means of VJA. Hence, the VJA could be used as an effective tool for foam generation and foam concrete production.

CO2-free hydrogen production via microwave-driven methane pyrolysis

Hydrogen will play an integral role in achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Many studies have been focusing on green hydrogen, but this method is highly electricity intensive. Alternatively, methane pyrolysis can produce hydrogen without direct CO2 emissions and with modest electricity inputs, serving as a bridge from fossil fuels to renewable energies. Microwaves are an efficient method of adding the required energy for this endothermic reaction. This study introduces a new method of CO2-free hydrogen production via non-plasma methane pyrolysis using microwaves and carbon products of this process. Carbon particles in the fluidized bed absorb microwave energy and create a hot medium (>1200 °C) in contact with flowing methane. As a result, methane decomposes into hydrogen and solid carbon achieving over 90% hydrogen selectivity with ∼500 cumulative hours of experiments This modular pyrolysis system can be built anywhere with access to natural gas and electricity, enabling distributed hydrogen production.

Because the UA powder has a higher sphericity and lower porosity, Generally, UA offers better-quality powders in terms of properties such as higher tap density, better flowability and low oxygen content.As an example of semi-industrial scale application of the UA system, the Ti6Al4V and TiAl powders were produced after remelting the wire. The UA system is commercially available for processing any metallic material.The test campaign results showed that the Ti6Al4V powder produced by the ultrasonic atomisation has a similar or better quality as those available from large-scale gas atomisation plants.The new method of UA powder production was analysed in terms of key powder parameters. The properties of the titanium-based powder produced this way were analysed with a view to future applications.

The logic of recreation space governance in forest parks based on the theory of space production

Forest parks are among the most important reserves. Forest recreation reflects the time requirements for resource usage and economic coordination for sustainable development. Human activities in forest parks are a major force for continuing space production. However, with the rapid development of forest recreation, expanded spaces and excessive expectations make sustainable development a great challenge. Analyzing the spaces of forest recreation; making conclusions about the spatial features; and analyzing requests regarding multiple characters, multi-functions, and land usage are all done through the process of space production, which based on the “Three Dimensions.” According to the problems of space alienation occurring in forest recreation, this paper proposes that the logic of space governance should return to the nature of the Three Dimensions itself. “Space justice production” and “reconstruction of we” should also offer countermeasures and advice for building a classification mechanism for the rights, responsibilities, and interests of recreation spaces; establishing recreation space control zones and strategies; and promoting space expansion simulations and facility scale measurement. The construction of spatial relationships and forms of social, ecological, and natural justice is necessary to offer a new method of space production and consumption balance for natural reserves.

Double spray forming machine and its applications to layered light-metals materials production

In current paper we present a new additive manufacturing method of production of bulk/macroscopic double-layer metallic materials by a unique Double Spray Forming machine in situ under a protective high-purity argon atmosphere. This method allows direct layer by layer deposition of metallic materials with good interlayer adhesion without formation of internal oxides. The double-layered materials including metal 1/metal 2, crystalline alloy 1/crystalline alloy 2 and crystalline alloy/glassy (amorphous) alloy were produced. The resulting materials consist of a combination of a relatively hard layer 1 and a relatively soft layer 2, thus making an in-situ layered composite “inlaycom”. The obtained structures were examined by X-ray diffractometry and scanning electron microscopy. The paper is focused to show the principle of the process usable as a scientific instrument. The proposed method can be applied for production of other double layer metallic materials including crystal/glassy ones and can be used by the scientists and engineers working in various research fields.

3D Printing and Computer-Aided Design for Precision Osteotomy-Aided Modules in Bone Biomechanical Study.

Precise and shape-matching osteotomy models are determinants of the experimental homogeneity in the assessment of orthopedic biomechanical properties. At present, however, publications on detailed description of osteotomy in bone biomechanical study are scanty. The purposes of this study were to design a new method of osteotomy-aided module production for bone biomechanical study with the help of three-dimensional (3D) printing and computer-aided design (CAD) and to test the accuracy of osteotomy. Fourteen fourth-generation composite femurs were analyzed. The composite bone was scanned using computed tomography (CT) scanner and loaded in Mimics for reconstruction and, then, imported into 3-Matic software to design intertrochanteric region, distal femur, and rotation control lever models. 3D printer was used to print each component. After assembling Sawbones and osteotomy modules, a horizontal band-saw was used to create fracture models. The volume and mass of intermediate fragments were calculated and analyzed. Satisfactory osteotomies of all composite Sawbones were achieved. The mean volume and mass of intermediate fragments were 21.0 ± 1.5 mm3 and 19.0 ± 1.2 g, respectively. Range of deviation from average of volumes was -1.9 - 2.8 mm3 and most of these deviations fall within the range of -1.4 - 2.1 mm3. Range of deviation from average of mass was -2.0 - 1.6 g and most of these deviations fall within the range of -1.4 - 1.6 g. One-dimensional histogram of deviation from average shows the precise and stable osteotomy performed based on the modules accordingly. A new method of osteotomy-aided module production for bone biomechanical study with the help of 3D printing and CAD was designed and the accuracy of osteotomy was verified. This method is expected to achieve homogeneity and standardization of osteotomy in bone biomechanical study.

ОСОБЛИВОСТІ ВПРОВАДЖЕННЯ СЕРВІСНИХ ІННОВАЦІЙ У СФЕРІ ОХОРОНИ ЗДОРОВ’Я: СТРАТЕГІЇ ТА МЕХАНІЗМИ

The article reflects the essence of innovative services and service innovations and features of their implementation in healthcare organizations. The possibilities of their implementation in practice of advanced materials, digital technologies in health care: cloud computing, Internet of things, blockchain, artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc. are outlined. The works of scientists on the use of medical innovations in the practice of health care organizations were analyzed. It is proposed to consider service innovations in health care as innovations that are characterized by focus on health care, have a high level of novelty as a product (services) and have no common characteristics with a previously produced product, based on technology or information technology in the field of health care. The author determines that since an innovative service is a service, medical innovation services is a contractually defined action or a set of actions of doctor (medical institution) — service providers, which are associated with the provision of service, which can be the result of such service, has a cost evaluation and is aimed at generating profit over a long period of time. But the process of medical innovation refers to a new method of production and provision of medical services, and the production of a medical service is related to its result. A new service product in health care should be thought of as a health care function sold as a commodity or a new service in which the characteristics have been changed to include an entirely new set of health care characteristics. A health care organization is essentially a service organization that can use the latest technology in its operations to improve the quality of care. If the emphasis is on competition among health care organizations, then such organizations are better off using a “blue ocean” strategy, which is characterized not by “bloody” competition but by the application of untapped market potential, symbolized by deep blue water. Competition among health care organizations provides powerful incentives that encourage health care providers to develop innovative solutions but raises concerns about providing substandard health care services and creating duplication of health care services. Therefore, the provision of medical innovation services in health care should emphasize the value of patient life and health, quality, convenience and accessibility of such service.

Recent advances in seaweed seedling production: a review of eucheumatoids and other valuable seaweeds

Modern seaweed farming relies heavily on seedlings from natural beds or vegetative cuttings from previous harvests. However, this farming method has some disadvantages, such as physiological variation in the seed stock and decreased genetic variability, which reduces the growth rate, carrageenan yield, and gel strength of the seaweeds. A new method of seedling production that is sustainable, scalable, and produces a large number of high-quality plantlets is needed to support the seaweed farming industry. Recent use of tissue culture and micropropagation techniques in eucheumatoid seaweed production has yielded promising results in increasing seed supply and growing uniform seedlings in large numbers in a shorter time. Several seaweed species have been successfully cultured and regenerated into new plantlets in laboratories using direct regeneration, callus culture, and protoplast culture. The use of biostimulants and plant growth regulators in culture media increases the seedling quality even further. Seedlings produced by micropropagation grew faster and had better biochemical properties than conventionally cultivated seedlings. Before being transferred to a land-based grow-out system or ocean nets for farming, tissue-cultured seedlings were recommended to undergo an acclimatization process to increase their survival rate. Regular monitoring is needed to prevent disease and pest infestations and grazing by herbivorous fish and turtles during the farming process. The current review discusses recent techniques for producing eucheumatoid and other valuable seaweed farming materials, emphasizing the efficiency of micropropagation and the transition from laboratory culture to cultivation in land-based or open-sea grow-out systems to elucidate optimal conditions for sustainable seaweed production.

Gold Ion Beam Milled Gold Zero-Mode Waveguides.

Zero-mode waveguides (ZMWs) are widely used in single molecule fluorescence microscopy for their enhancement of emitted light and the ability to study samples at physiological concentrations. ZMWs are typically produced using photo or electron beam lithography. We report a new method of ZMW production using focused ion beam (FIB) milling with gold ions. We demonstrate that ion-milled gold ZMWs with 200 nm apertures exhibit similar plasmon-enhanced fluorescence seen with ZMWs fabricated with traditional techniques such as electron beam lithography.

Recovery of 177Lu from Irradiated HfO2 Targets for Nuclear Medicine Purposes.

A new method of production of one of the most widely used isotopes in nuclear medicine, 177Lu, with high chemical purity was developed; this method includes irradiation of the HfO2 target with bremsstrahlung photons. The irradiated target was dissolved in HF and then diluted and placed onto a column filled with LN resin. Quantitative sorption of 177Lu could be observed during this process. The column later was rinsed with the mixture of 0.1 M HF and 1 M HNO3 and then 2 M HNO3 to remove impurities. Quantitative desorption of 177Lu was achieved by using 6 M HNO3. The developed method of 177Lu production ensures high purification of this isotope from macroquantities of hafnium and zirconium and radioactive impurities of carrier-free yttrium. The content of 177mLu in 177Lu in photonuclear production was determined. Due to high chemical and radionuclide purity, 177Lu obtained by the developed method can be used in nuclear medicine.

Experimental Investigation into a New Method of scalable production of Reduced Graphene Oxide for potential industrial graphene nanocomposite manufacture

Graphene has attracted a great attention in the recent years of research innovations mainly due to its unique properties and in particular, its structural composition of one-atom thick sheet of hexagonally arrayed sp2 carbon atoms. This article focuses on a method of synthesis of graphene oxide granules, which can be use as nanofiller in polymer matrix. Polymer nanocomposites reinforced with graphene nanofillers have better mechanical, thermal and electrical properties than pure polymer materials. Some corrugated spherical structures/granules of reduced graphene oxide were produced by a dispersion/drying method. For this purpose the reduced graphene oxide suspension produced in the laboratory by an improved method was mixed on a magnetic stirring and delivered by a peristaltic pump to the granulation zone at a speed 10-20 ml/min. The granulation zone temperature was kept within 40-150°C. The suspension was dispersed by compressed air up to 3 atmospheres. The produced granules were accumulated in a receiver, and dried in the vacuum oven to remove residues of solvents used in the process. The engineered reduced Graphene oxide were analyzed and the material structural-morphology was characterized by XRD, TGA, UV, Raman and SEM.
