Suggestions for the Practical Teaching of the Sounds of Many Languages

This paper is rather a series of practical observations based upon my experience with courses in “The World's Chief Languages” than a set of suggestions to those who know the field of practical phonetics far better than I. It was read at the Practical Phonetics Section of the Modern Language Association Convention held December 29, 1944.
