Examining the Mood States and Self-Representations of Psychology Students Through the Cactus Drawing Test and Discourse Analysis.
  • Sep 17, 2025
  • Psychological reports
  • Volkan Demir + 1 more

By use of the Draw a Cactus Test and discourse analysis, this study investigates the emotional states and self-representations of psychology students. Under a qualitative research model, the study included 150 psychology students whose drawings were assessed utilizing a projective evaluation method. Thirty participants-selected based on pre-defined theme criteria-were also semi-structured in-depth interviews whose responses were subjected to discourse analysis. Chi-square tests were used to investigate the correlation between drawing traits and psychosocial tendencies; logistic regression analysis was then used to find important predictive elements. The results show interesting correlations between individuals' psychological characteristics and drawing preferences. Especially, externalized hostility and domesticity turned out to be important factors affecting the dependent measurements. The discourse analysis also showed that those who strongly felt inclined to defend personal boundaries tended to show big, spiky cactus, whilst those who were emotionally tired usually showed solitary, isolated cacti. On the other hand, those showing more adaptability and suppleness created cactus with more symmetrical and ordered structures. These findings highlight the need of combining projective approaches with discourse analysis to better grasp personal inner psychological processes. Combining drawing-based projective techniques with qualitative analytical methods can provide a complete way of evaluating psychology students' professional progress and psychosocial traits, the study underlines.

  • Brian Juma Khisa + 3 more

Various studies have been undertaken on the role of interpersonal communication in elections in different countries. However, its efficacy and role in political communication have not been fully interrogated. This ignorance may lead to undesirable or negative outcomes contrary to the expectations of the contestants, making it difficult to tap into the gains that could be availed through this means of communication. This study sought to examine communication strategies used during the 2022 general elections in Shinyalu Constituency. The elaboration likelihood theory underpinned the study. The study adopted a mixed-method research design approach and utilised both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection and analysis. The population of the study was 76,978. Analysis of Internal Control of Accounts Receivable for Travel Agents at Four Seasons Resort at Jimbaran Bay
  • Sep 13, 2025
  • JURNAL EKONOMI KREATIF DAN MANAJEMEN BISNIS DIGITAL
  • Ni Putu Novie Amelia Putri + 2 more

Four Seasons Resort at Jimbaran Bay has experienced a significant increase in accounts receivable balance every year. Based on the table of sources of credit sales and the amount of accounts receivable balance for the period 2021 to 2023, it shows that the largest accounts receivable balance comes from travel agents, accompanied by a slow turnover rate of receivables. This indicates that the collection process of receivables has not been functioning well and poses a risk of uncollectible receivables which impacts the hotel’s operational cash flow. This research seeks to assess the internal controls related to travel agent receivables at the Four Seasons Resort Jimbaran Bay from 2021-2023 by the application of the COSO (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission) framework. A qualitative data analysis method was employed, utilizing triangulation of primary and secondary data from interviews and observations to ensure credibility and validity. Findings shows that the internal control over receivables at the Four Seasons Resort at Jimbaran Bay is still not optimal in terms of the five existing components. The implementation of the risk assessment component for monitoring activities has not been optimally executed. Thus, improvement is needed to avoid the risk of uncollectible receivables. Meanwhile, the control environment component, control activities, information, and communication have been operating optimally as seen from the performance of employees which is in accordance with the operational standards set by the company.

Reflecting on LLM Support in Reflexive Thematic Analysis: An Exploratory Study.
  • Sep 8, 2025
  • Qualitative health research
  • Magnhild Vikan + 4 more

The launch of ChatGPT in November 2022 accelerated discussions and research into whether base large language models (LLMs) could increase the efficiency of qualitative analysis phases or even replace qualitative researchers. Reflexive thematic analysis (RTA) is a commonly used method for qualitative text analysis that emphasizes the researcher's subjectivity and reflexivity to enable a situated, in-depth understanding of knowledge generation. Researchers appear optimistic about the potential of LLMs in qualitative research; however, questions remain about whether base models can meaningfully contribute to the interpretation and abstraction of a dataset. The primary objective of this study was to explore how LLMs may support an RTA of an interview text from health science research. Secondary objectives included identifying recommended prompt strategies for similar studies, highlighting potential weaknesses or challenges, and fostering engagement among qualitative researchers regarding these threats and possibilities. We provided the interview file to an offline LLM and conducted a series of tests aligned with the phases of RTA. Insights from each test guided refinements to the next and contributed to the development of a recommended prompt strategy. At this stage, base LLMs provide limited support and do not increase the efficiency of RTA. At best, LLMs may identify gaps in the researchers' perspectives. Realizing the potential of LLMs to inspire broader discussion and deeper reflections requires a well-defined strategy and the avoidance of misleading prompts, self-referential responses, misguiding translations, and errors. Conclusively, high-quality RTA requires a human, comprehensive familiarization phase, and methodological competence to preserve epistemological integrity.

  • Sep 1, 2025
  • Journal of orthopaedic surgery (Hong Kong)
  • Dawn Bowden + 2 more

BackgroundWhile there is a clear trend towards less invasive spinal procedures in recent years, determining what specifically constitutes minimally invasive surgery (MIS) for spinal fusion procedures can be challenging as published definitions are heterogeneous and address only select factors.PurposeTo utilize a Delphi Consensus Panel (DCP) process to build consensus among panelists regarding the definition of MIS for spinal fusion and define a consensus around best practices for adopting MIS technologies.MethodsDCP is a widely accepted method of qualitative data collection and analysis used for generating consensus from panel members. The DCP consisted of 2 online questionnaires completed by 11 expert panelists. Round 1 included 7 multiple choice demographics and 11 open-ended questions. Round 1 responses were analyzed to inform the development of statements for further assessment in Round 2. Round 2 included 93 closed-ended, 5-point Likert scale questions and 11 open-ended questions. Consensus was defined as agreement among at least 8 out of 11 panelists.ResultsConsensus was reached on 56 out of 93 statements regarding spinal fusion and/or fixation procedures. There was a high degree of consensus around the role of reduced tissue trauma, patient recovery time, hospital length of stay, and post-operative pain for MIS spinal fusion procedures compared to open procedures; and the value of various technologies in performing MIS spinal fusion procedures.ConclusionA consistent definition of what constitutes MIS for spinal fusion may help drive consistency across surgeons, facilities, and payers to define clinical and economic implications for these approaches.

The problematic confiscation of assets of money laundering defendants whose convictions were finalized and subsequently dismissed by the court due to the defendant's death is the focus of this thesis research, which examines the duties of law enforcement agencies—the prosecutor's office and the police—to recover state assets owned by heirs who received assets from money launderers, through mechanisms in accordance with the principle of the presumption of innocence. The research questions are formulated as follows: 1) What are the provisions in the Money Laundering Law related to narcotics crimes? 2) What is the legal certainty regarding the status of evidence suspected of being the proceeds of money laundering from narcotics-based crimes against deceased defendants? The research method used in this dissertation is a normative juridical research method, conducted in an effort to obtain the necessary data related to the problem. The data used are secondary data and tertiary legal materials. In addition, primary data is also used to support the secondary legal materials. Data analysis is carried out using a qualitative juridical analysis method. Using a theoretical framework, namely the theory of evidence and the theory of legal certainty, to examine this problem. The research results indicate that the law does not regulate a mechanism for the restitution of state losses for deceased convicts, as this contradicts Article 83 of the Criminal Code. Consequently, there is no legal certainty regarding the status of evidence suspected of being the proceeds of money laundering from narcotics-based crimes against deceased defendants. Proven state losses that must be returned cannot be carried out by prosecutors acting as executors for deceased convicts. State attorneys can file civil lawsuits against the convict's heirs to repatriate assets obtained from money laundering to the state or state treasury as state revenue. The author's recommendation to legislators is to add articles that clearly relate to the mechanism for executing compensation or procedures for the restitution of state losses in the form of compensation to the provisions of the law, as well as to enable heirs of convicts convicted of money laundering to fulfill their legal responsibility, namely to return assets used by the heirs of convicts convicted of money laundering.

The Right of Inquiry of The House of Representatives in the Constitutional System: Between The Supervisory Function and The Potential for Abuse
  • Aug 28, 2025
  • Jurnal Hukum dan Keadilan
  • Darsis Humah

The right of inquiry is one of the constitutional rights of the House of Representatives as regulated in Article 20A paragraph (2) of the 1945 Constitution and the MD3 Law as an instrument of supervision over the government. After the amendment of the 1945 Constitution, the position of the House of Representatives has been strengthened as an important actor in the checks and balances mechanism. However, in practice, the use of the right of inquiry often raises debate, both as a form of constitutional supervision and as a political bargaining tool that has the potential to be abused. This article aims to analyze the position of the DPR's right of inquiry in the Indonesian constitutional system, identify its function and relevance to democracy, and examine its potential abuse in contemporary political practice. This research uses a normative juridical approach with a qualitative analysis method through literature review, laws and regulations, Constitutional Court decisions, and SINTA and Scopus indexed scientific publications for the 2020–2025 period. The results of the study show that normatively, the right of inquiry has a strong and relevant legal basis to strengthen the principles of accountability and transparency of governance. However, regulatory weaknesses, especially related to the follow-up of investigation results, make the effectiveness of the right of inquiry often limited. In addition, the dominance of the political majority in parliament and the tendency to politicize make the right of inquiry more often used as a political instrument than as an instrument of substantive supervision. In conclusion, the urgency of strengthening the right to inquiry lies in regulatory reform, strengthening the ethical mechanism of the House of Representatives, and increasing civil society participation, so that this right truly functions as a democratic instrument to prevent abuse of power

Settlement of Seafarers' Disputes in Maritime Labor Law
  • Aug 23, 2025
  • International Journal of Applied Research and Sustainable Sciences
  • Moh Muniri + 1 more

This research aims to legally analyze the system of resolving seafarers' disputes within the framework of maritime labor law in Indonesia, emphasizing role of Manpower, and role of Shipping, as well as internationally ratified provisions, such as the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006. The normative juridical approach is used with qualitative analysis methods on legislation and analyzes the job protection guarantees for sailors as part of the maritime sector, which has specificities in labor relations that differ from land workers, both in terms of legal regulations, rights protection, and dispute resolution mechanisms. Disputes among sailors generally include issues of wages, termination of employment, working conditions on board, and repatriation after the contract ends. The research results indicate the continued disharmony between national regulations and international standards, as well as the weak supervision and protection of sailors' rights. There is a need to strengthen maritime regulations that are more specific to the industrial relations of seafarers and to provide effective access to labor dispute resolution institutions that understand the nature of maritime work.

  • Disability and Rehabilitation: Assistive Technology
  • Jian Chen + 2 more

Purpose Mobile phone addiction among college students is currently a common phenomenon and has many negative impacts on the students, such as decreased vision and low sleep quality. Since the existing research on this phenomenon has analyzed the net effects of causes on the result, this paper introduces the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) method to explore the relationship between five antecedent conditions (self-control, self-esteem, loneliness, significant others, and school management) and college students’ mobile phone addiction from the perspective of configuration. Method Taking college students as research subjects, and a questionnaire was used for data collection. Then the FSQCA method was used to obtain configuration results and conduct configuration analysis. Results The results show that a single condition is not necessary for this phenomenon. On the contrary, three configurations could bring about the addiction. The first configuration includes self-esteem, loneliness, and significant others. The second configuration contains self-control, self-esteem, loneliness, and school management. The third configuration comprises self-esteem and loneliness. Conclusions The findings of this article can effectively explain the reasons of mobile phone addiction among college students and provide references for alleviating and eliminating it.
