Objective To explore the effects of solution-focused approach on medication belief and adherence among anxiety disorder patients. Methods From March to August 2016, a total of 87 anxiety disorder patients admitted to hospital for the first time in Psychology department of Hangzhou First People's Hospital were selected as subjects. All of the patients included in the study were randomly divided into experimental group and control group with the random number table. Patients of control group received health education and mental nursing. On this basis, patients of experimental group were treated with solution-focused approach. The Beliefs about Medical Questionnaire (BMQ) was used to compared medication belief of patients in two groups before and after intervention. The Medication Adherence Scale was used to assess medication adherence of patients in both groups one, two and three months after discharge. Results After intervention, the score of medication necessity of experimental group was higher than that of control group with significant differences (t=-2.888; P<0.05) . The medication belief of patients in experimental group was significantly higher than those in control group one, two and three months post discharge (P<0.05) . Conclusions The solution-focused approach contributes to improving anxiety of anxiety disorder patients, strengthening their medication belief in necessity, lowering medication belief in worry, enhancing treatment confidence and positive rehabilitation behavior so as to improve medication adherence.
