Radicalism Preference of Islamic Senior High School Student in East Java

Islamic senior high school is assumed far and safe from intolerant and radical by society because they are out of reach of intolerant people. This study analyzed the preferences of Islamic senior high school Aliyah students towards the issue of radicalism in the Islamic senior high school. This research used quantitative research with 1167 Islamic senior high school students in East Java. The results showed that most of the respondents did not feel intimidated, to live around other religions’ societies. In addition, for state ideology preferences, it was found that 512 out of 1,167 respondents indicated that Pancasila was the appropriate ideology. While 146 respondents stated that religion ideology-based was very appropriate for the Indonesian state. Oki Setiana Dewi was the most popular religious figure among Islamic senior high school students. Oki's popularity is a paradox because the majority of respondents are members of NU and Muhammadiyah organizations. Furthermore, in Indonesian state ideology preferences in Islamic senior high schools, 131 respondents strongly agreed that the khilafah was not appropriate in Indonesia, 256 respondents agreed that the khilafah was not appropriate in Indonesia, and 533 respondents had doubts about the inappropriateness of the khilafah in Indonesia, 166 respondents tended to agree about the implementation of the khilafah in Indonesia, and 81 respondents strongly agreed with the implementation of the Khilafah.

Self-Regulation as an Alternative Mechanism of Private Governance and Dispute Resolution in Russia and Kazakhstan

The article seeks to explore self-regulation as an innovative, effective legal mechanism of private governance of any economic or professional activity and dispute resolution, which aims to substitute state regulation and thereby limit state interference in the economy. The research methodology consists of the critical analysis of scholars’ publications, different legislative acts and judicial practice of their enforcement in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as finding legal uncertainties and gaps and making solutions for their settlement in the sphere in question. Special attention is paid to the comparative method. On the examples of the law of these two countries, it is argued that self-regulation as such lays down the freedom of economic activity guaranteed in the constitutional, business and other legislative provisions and stipulates uniting the subjects of economic or professional activity within a self-regulatory organization mainly under the scope of corporate law. It includes (a) setting standards and other rules for pursuing any economic or professional activity by members of a self-regulatory organization; (b) monitoring compliance with such requirements and applying different alternative methods of resolution of legal disputes with the participation of its members. Such corporate normative acts adopted by non-governmental actors are suggested to be recognized as a specific type of source of private law to be clearly enshrined in the present legislation of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan. Unlike recommendatory documents of most non-profit organizations, they are mandatory and can be enforced through legal instruments determined in the special legislation on self-regulation. It allows the proper balance of private and public interests under the joint state and private governance of economic and professional activities. The article also stipulates enlarging the application of self-regulation to digital and other new spheres, which require a lot of rules to be adopted.

Influence of Knowledge Management on Organizational Performance at SD N Dasan Bengkel Lombok

The quality of management highly influences the implementation of a particular educational institution, which further determines the success of its goals and outcomes. This research aims to investigate the influences of knowledge management on organizational performance at SDN Dasan Bengkel Lombok. A descriptive qualitative research method was employed, partial observation, interviews, and document analysis were used to collect the data from ten participants, including one principal and nine teachers. This study adopted Miles and Huberman's data analysis techniques commenced with data reduction, data display, and verification to analyze the data. The triangulation technique was employed to examine the validity of the data from the three data collection methods. The results demonstrated that knowledge management influences the performance of SDN Dasan Bengkel Lombok school organization, particularly in the aspects of decision-making, innovation in organization, teachers' abilities as members of the school organization, and students' learning outcomes. All the elements are spelt out in the other part of this study. The researcher recommends principals possess knowledge management skills for their school organization.

Strategies to Improve Teachers' Organizational Citizenship Behavior Through Strengthening Transformational Leadership and Self-Efficacy

The success and sustainability of an organization are largely determined by the willingness of organizational members to behave well not only when carrying out their main tasks, but also extra behavior in wanting to be good teachers. However, there are indications that teachers at the PGRI Vocational School, Bogor Regency, only carry out basic tasks and do not demonstrate behavior that supports organizational effectiveness outside of this. This research aims to determine the relationship between transformational leadership and self-efficacy in organizational citizenship behavior both partially and jointly. The population in this study were teachers at the PGRI Vocational School, Bogor Regency with a sample of 243 respondents. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires and data processing was carried out using simple regression analysis and multiple regression analysis. The research results show that (1) transformational leadership has a positive and significant relationship with teachers' organizational citizenship behavior. (2) self-efficacy has a positive relationship with teacher organizational citizenship behavior. (3) transformational leadership and self-efficacy have a positive and significant relationship with teachers' organizational citizenship behavior.

The effect of corporate venturing on knowledge acquisition and performance in small and medium-sized firms in Germany

Although corporate venturing (CV) is associated with acquiring new skills and competencies and with achieving corporate vitalization, there are limited insights as to how CV activities in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) relate to knowledge acquisition and performance. To address these, we utilize survey data of 570 organizational members, up to the top management level, of SMEs in Germany. The results indicate that CV positively affects knowledge acquisition and performance. Additionally, we found positive moderation effects of transformational leadership and technological turbulence on the CV-performance relationship. Further analysis confirmed a strong mediation effect of knowledge acquisition (KA) on the CV-performance relationship. The results also suggest that firms practicing CV in high technology dynamism related industries face a triangle of tensions where high technology turbulence supports exploitation of existing competitive advantages, but the former dampens the exploration of future competitive advantages through new knowledge.

Conflict is an inevitable phenomenon in organizational dynamics. Differences in perceptions, goals and resources often trigger conflict. This research aims to examine the importance of conflict management in maintaining organizational sustainability and performance. Through literature studies, this research concludes that effective conflict management can change destructive conflicts into constructive ones, increase productivity, and strengthen relationships between organizational members. In addition, this research also identifies various conflict management strategies that can be applied in the context of modern organizations. Organizational conflict is a conflict that occurs when the goal-oriented behavior of one group clashes or is threatened by the group's goals.

Safeguarding Women’s Land Rights: The Role Transformational Leadership as a Game Changer: A Case of South Sudan

Carrying out the study in Juba, South Sudan, with a specific focus on safeguarding women's land rights and exploring the role of transformational leadership is not only timely but also essential for addressing gender disparities in land ownership and contributing to broader efforts towards gender equality and sustainable development in the region. The incorporation of UNSCR 1325 in South Sudan has significantly altered the narrative surrounding women's roles, shifting them from passive recipients to active participants in peace and security endeavours. This resolution underlines the intrinsic right of women to engage in such processes, influencing the development of crucial policies and Legal Frameworks geared towards gender parity and women's empowerment, exemplified by instruments like the Transitional Constitution and National Action Plan. Moreover, UNSCR 1325 emphasizes the imperative of addressing the specific relief needs of women and girls during and after conflicts, positioning women as indispensable agents in relief and recovery processes. The study conducted in Juba gathered respondents from diverse backgrounds, including members of Community-Based Organizations, Faith Groups, women associations, Civil Society Organizations, village committees, community leaders, policymakers, subject matter experts, and political parties. Employing a qualitative research approach, the study utilized Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews to collect data and insights. Thirty research participants partook in three separate FGDs, each comprising ten members, while twenty-three Key Informant interviews were conducted with stakeholders. The qualitative data underwent meticulous thematic analysis, revealing the significant challenges faced by women in South Sudan when asserting their land rights, exacerbated by conflicting statutory and customary laws. The transformative impact of UNSCR 1325 was a central revelation from the study, reshaping women's roles in peace and security efforts and emphasizing their active participation. This paradigm shift has been instrumental in shaping policies and legal frameworks in South Sudan, such as the Transitional Constitution and National Action Plan, which prioritize gender equality and women's empowerment. Conducting further studies focusing on women's land rights and transformational leadership in South Sudan is crucial for advancing gender equality and sustainable development, with recommendations including aligning laws, providing training, engaging champions, establishing information-sharing platforms, and developing comprehensive training programs tailored to promoting women's rights in land ownership. These recommendations aim to guide future interventions in fortifying women's land rights, fostering gender equality, and empowering women as pivotal actors in sustainable development efforts in South Sudan

Organizational Culture and Effectiveness in Community-Based Nonprofits

Community-based nonprofits have traditionally emphasized group and developmental cultures which stress the importance of people and transformation. However, evolving institutional environments that champion competing cultures associated with professional and enterprising ideals have increasingly interpenetrated contemporary nonprofits. Drawing on the Competing Values Culture Framework (CVCF), this research explores how organizational members define the complex contemporary landscape of organizational culture in community-based nonprofits and examines the relationship between diverse organizational cultures (e.g., group, developmental, hierarchical, and rational) and perceptions of effectiveness. Results indicate that employees in community-based nonprofits view group cultures as the most characteristic of their organizations, although no organization is characterized by a single culture. In line with the CVCF, we find that each organizational culture is associated with the achievement of different measures of organizational effectiveness in community-based nonprofits. We conclude with a discussion of what this means for research and practice.

ЗМІНИ В ПОХОВАЛЬНІЙ КУЛЬТУРІ СОЦІАЛЬНОЇ ЕЛІТИ ДРУГОЇ ПОЛОВИНИ XVII–XVIII СТ. НА ПРИКЛАДІ ПОХОВАНЬ ПРЕДСТАВНИКІВ РОДУ РОЗУМОВСЬКИХ

The article examines the peculiarities of the funerary culture of representatives of the social elite of the second half of the 18th century using the example of the Razumovsky family. and the elements that testified to changes in burial culture in the first half of the 19th century are actualized. The purpose of the article is to characterize the gradual changes in the funerary culture of the Ukrainian elite at the beginning of the 19th century, associated with the incorporation of most of the Ukrainian territories into the Russian Empire. The research methodology is based on the involvement of general scientific methods – observation, information gathering, description and comparison. Conclusions. Funeral culture in general included ideas about death, preparation for it and ensuring the perpetuation of memory while still alive, forms of treatment of the dead, official burial procedures, religious practices, expression of grief by relatives and other members of society, organization and maintenance of burial sites. Representatives of the Ukrainian social elite of the beginning of the 19th century, who were mostly descendants of Cossack elders, prepared in advance for the time of death – they made wills and took care of the place of burial, the mourning ceremony. This is confirmed by examples from the Razumovskyi family circle. Key words: funeral culture, mourning ceremony, сossack elder, Razumovsky.

The Ordinary Soldier in Military Organization

Abstract Drawing on social psychology, this article raises seemingly counterintuitive questions about international criminal law’s assumptions of human agency in a highly specific social environment. Is military institution hostile to the ‘normative individualism’ underlying international criminal law? If so, is it fair to demand individual criminal responsibility of members of a military organization in the same way as in peacetime situations? This article takes the perspective of an ordinary soldier and asks whether international criminal law is biased in describing causes of atrocities and dispensing solutions. After explicating some assumptions of individual criminal responsibility, it introduces the military organization as a total institution that subsumes individuals. It continues to examine the impact of the military mission and structure on the normative and behavioural competences of the ordinary soldier as a potential perpetrator of war crimes. It then contemplates how such a social environment undermines international criminal law’s fiction of human agency and, ultimately, its normative effect. This article not only invites further legal doctrinal reflections but also contributes to the criminological study of international crimes.

Trust and mistrust in COVID-19 politics: the shattered hopes of civil society engagement in Burkina Faso

In a democratic setting, civil society is considered to be one of the forces capable of checking on the government especially when it comes to issues that concern the public at large. The political history of Burkina Faso is replete with situations of civil society groupings confronting the governments be they democratic or authoritarian. So, at the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 in Burkina Faso one expected civil society organizations to live up to the challenges of the day by checking on the actions of President Kabore government. However, this did not happen. Hence, the following research question: Why was the Burkina Faso civil society inactive during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis? Using elite interviewing techniques, I found out that low awareness of the COVID-19 threat within large swaths of the population and among members of civil society organizations accounted for the inaction of the most vocal civil society members during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis since the latter did not consider the COVID-19 pandemic issue as a political question deserving great attention. This has strong implications in terms of public trust. More precisely, it means that in Burkina Faso contrary to what the democracy promotion literature may have said on the virtues of civil society one cannot always trust civil society members to check on the government even in time of emergency such as that of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Further research may therefore help to better understand civil society-government relations in Burkina Faso.

CAPACITY BUILDING IN JOB SUSTAINABILITY FOR PERMAI MEMBERS IN PULAU PINANG, MALAYSIA

This Community Service Program (PPM) aims to improve the self-actualization, competitiveness, and adaptability of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia, particularly members of the PERMAI organization in Penang. The challenges posed by regional labor competition, especially after the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), include low productivity, limited education, and insufficient skills among Indonesian workers. To address these issues, the program offers psychoeducation, training, and the introduction of new competencies such as digital literacy, sustainability-focused green skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset. These skills are designed to better prepare participants for the global job market, ensuring long-term employment sustainability and economic contribution. The program targets 50-100 PERMAI members from diverse professional backgrounds, including factory workers, lecturers, and data analysts. Through lectures, discussions, and interactive workshops, the initiative aims to boost self-efficacy in career and business planning while enhancing both hard and soft skills. The integration of digital competencies and environmental awareness aligns with global trends in sustainable work practices, contributing to the development of technology-driven and environmentally responsible workers. The anticipated outcomes include improved career planning, entrepreneurial development, and green job practices. The findings are expected to add theoretical value to sustainable human resource development and digital upskilling.

Social Power May Enhance Workplace Initiative: An Experimental Investigation Among Two Samples.

Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) refers to voluntary actions members take to benefit organizational function. However, the benefits of OCB for organizations are sometimes countered by detriments for employees who exhibit them, resulting in threats to organizational members' psychological wellbeing. The present research examined whether social power-the perceived ability to control allocations and outcomes in a social hierarchy-could increase OCB endorsement while buffering against negative personal costs. Indeed, manipulated social power enhanced OCB endorsement. This effect was mediated by increased positive affect and goal seeking among participants assigned to a high-power condition relative to participants assigned to a low-power condition. Further, participants assigned to a high-power (vs. low-power) condition did not report increased occupational burden despite their greater OCB endorsement. Patterns of results were similar among a sample of community members (N = 149; Mage = 37 years) and a sample of university students (N = 129; Mage = 20 years). Organizations might empower members by employing procedural justice principles that facilitate members' meaningful contributions to workplace operations.

SEM approach to assess self-efficacy and social capital of producer’s organizations in Chhattisgarh

Farmer-producer organizations are typified by farmer groupings that are structured with the intention of turning a profit by leveraging economies of scale and functioning similarly to corporate entities. The creation and advancement of farmer collectivization can offer farmers a forum for obtaining essential information, exchanging knowledge, sharing production and marketing risks, and embracing market-driven agricultural product production. Compared to the individual method, grassroots initiatives on the collectivization of marginalized rural communities can enhance their support for livelihood in terms of income, self-respect, negotiating power, etc. The current study was carried out in the state of Chhattisgarh in order to propose a model by combining two schools of thought; the function of social capital, and self-efficacy that influence the perceived performance among the members of farmer producer organizations (FPOs). This study was set out to determine and investigate the fundamental causes of the farmers' groups' performance in producer businesses that are operating quite successfully on the ground. Findings reveal that self-efficacy was a key player as a partial mediator in the social capital formation that affected FPO performance. The size of mediating effect was analysed and observed highly significant with 45.77% effect size.

Business Educators’ Critical Reflection on Leadership

It is axiomatic: Leadership is pivotal for positive organisational results. Pervasive literature can guide, yet many organisations suffer unsatisfactory results. It is a question of the gap between intent and execution. Mountains of leadership literature obfuscate versus clarify. This distortion demands scrutiny. Our research question is: “What is leadership?” Our research methodology was reflection (Dewey and others), attempting clarification to improve understanding and guide successful action. Our findings demonstrate that literature inconsistently defines leadership which impacts understanding and practice. Leadership is often studied from the perspective of either (a) the person, specifically their competence, i.e., knowledge, skills, attitude, experience, and behaviour about (i) themselves, (ii) cultivating positive relationships with others, (iii) nurturing effective teams, and (iv) business/technical/job-related content, or (b) function, i.e., attaining organisational results by goal achievement through coordination of organisation-wide activities supported by the free-willed cooperation of all organisational members, or (c) social influence, that is leadership behaviour impacting the functioning of the organisation. Research primarily examines leadership as social influence. These three perspectives are seldom integratively studied, suggesting mutually exclusive domains. However, person, function, and social influence are interconnected. Our findings imply leadership as an interplay between the person, the collective, and contextual conditions impacting organisational results. Therefore, studying leadership from the combined perspectives of person, function, and social influence is more useful. Doing so provides a holistic understanding that ensures attaining positive organisational results. The value of the study includes that reflection, an underused research method examining leadership, can limit proliferation of superfluous literature that often produces confusion. Both academics and practitioners can question their thinking, assumptions, and actions to guide better actions and to approach better results. We recommend further study to hone reflective practice and learning.

Developing Problem Representations in Organizations: A Synthesis across Literatures and an Integrative Framework

Organizational research has long suggested that when working with problems that are complex and ill-defined it is imperative for organizational members to understand and represent these problems in order to effectively address them. However, research on the topic has remained fragmented across different organizational literatures resulting in the development and persistence of ambiguities in our understanding of the activities that compose the process of developing problem representations, the temporal patterns through which they unfold, and the associated mechanisms and outcomes. In this paper, we review and synthesize research across seven different literatures—all of which examine different organizational contexts that involve complex and ill-defined problems—and offer a framework that integrates research across these different literatures. Our framework delineates the different activities constituting the process of developing problem representations, provides insights about different approaches to developing problem representations, elaborates our understanding of the mechanisms associated with the process, and broadens our understanding of the different outcomes of the process. In so doing, our review and framework not only offer clarity and coherence on the topic but also highlight new opportunities for theoretical and methodological advancements.

Rethinking Security Paradigms in the Face of External Backlash: A Case Study in Private Security

Premises security is essential for organizations to function efficiently and effectively. The sanctity of space and its associated perimeter not only signals a boundary for outsiders but also serves as a second home for organizational members. These members cannot meet organizational requirements if they are constantly on guard, protecting themselves and the organization’s property. However, the gradual encroachment of industrial space by squatters, while reflecting uneven economic development, presents significant security challenges, as some inhabitants of informal settlements find pilfering and other petty crimes financially rewarding. The dominant security strategy typically involves armed guards, whose presence may act as a deterrent. However, the death of an intruder or trespasser due to a guard using his firearm has far-reaching implications due to prevailing legal doctrines and stakeholder dynamics. In India, the legal system treats death as a serious matter, out of proportion to the crime of theft, and the socio-political environment echoes this perspective. Such deaths often lead to collective protests from citizens, often in the form of a dharna or a gherao, which not only disrupts the firm’s operations but also poses a challenge to legal and administrative authorities and management. Dispersing the dharna and preventing it from escalating into a violent mob typically requires the management to negotiate compensation with the aggrieved family, alongside a commitment to legal authorities to impose strict restrictions on the use of firearms. The erosion of deterrence following such negotiations renders security guards ineffective. Their response to trespassing and pilfering is reduced to physical confrontation, attempting to evict individuals, which places guards at risk when faced with armed intruders. Our case study illustrates how an organization restored deterrence, and thus the sanctity of its perimeter, by incorporating attack dogs into its security strategy.

Exceeding expectations increases satisfaction among Louisiana waterfowl hunters

AbstractLouisiana surveys waterfowl hunters every 5 years to assess hunter effort, harvest success, demographics, and preferences for proposed regulations and management practices. The 2020 Survey of Louisiana Waterfowl Hunters addressed hunter satisfaction patterns, hunter perceptions on waterfowl migration, associations of field experiences to satisfaction, associations among distribution waves, the efficacy of sample coverage by an email survey, and allowed comparison with hunter satisfaction with surveys in 2005, 2010, and 2015. We distributed a 31‐question survey by email to 73,554 Louisiana waterfowl hunters following the 2019–2020 season. We received 13,483 total responses, of which 8,218 were usable (licensed respondents actively hunting waterfowl during the 2019–2020 season), resulting in a qualified response rate of 12.0%. We compared qualified respondents to the overall population of Harvest Information Program registrants (169,891) and found no significant differences for age class, geographic distribution, and license type. Our results indicated that surveys should be distributed in 3 waves, as the number of days hunted would be overestimated by 7% (mean of 15 days [95% confidence interval = 14.7–15.7] compared to a mean of 14 days [95% confidence interval = 13.7–14.4]) by a single survey. Hunters' satisfaction was independent of which geographic zone they hunted, whether they were members of conservation organizations, or how many waterfowl were seen. Our results also indicated that the probability of greater hunter satisfaction was increased by 98% as the number of waterfowl harvested surpassed 57, by 68% for respondents reporting that their actual harvest exceeded expected harvest by at least one bird, and by 61% for respondents reporting that their actual days hunted exceeded expected days hunted by at least one day.

Exploring Leadership in the Hybrid Workplace

The workplace and work life has changed due to advances in digital technology, which has increased distributed work. Many organizations no longer work in a physical office, but in a hybrid workplace where organizational members work both remotely, using digital technology, and in the physical office. This literature review explores and examines the existing research on leadership in hybrid workplaces. While there is a large body of research on e-leadership and numerous studies on the pandemic, there is a paucity of research on the leadership of hybrid workplaces, which is crucial in the present workplace. Hence, this paper is a systematic review of the literature that addresses leadership in the hybrid workplace across disciplines. A total of 48 papers from six databases were analyzed and interpreted. This review reveals the different but complementary disciplinary focus contributing to developing the knowledge of leadership in the hybrid workplace. It also presents a comprehensive overview of changes to the workplace and the critical challenges leaders face with the abrupt switch to the new structure of the workplace. This work has significant learning points for leadership practice in the contemporary workplace. It offers a conceptualization of hybrid leadership, along with propositions for future research.
