1. Treated and untreated sewage is received by the chain of lakes. 2. Sludge deposits were present in varying levels on the lake bottoms. 3. Bottom macroinvertebrate populations were depressed. 4. Phytoplankton levels and types reflected the effects of the treated and untreated sewage. 5. The effect of the treated and untreated sewage was manifested throughout the chain of lakes. 6. The chain of lakes appeared to act as a series of natural biological oxidation ponds, as indicated by the biotic forms of the phytoplankton in the chain of lakes.
