Investigating quiet quitting tendencies among nursing students: a descriptive study

BackgroundThe phenomenon of “quiet quitting” performing only the minimum required duties without emotional investment—has gained prominence in both the workplace and educational settings.AimThis study was conducted to determine the quiet quitting levels of nursing students and to analyze how these levels vary according to gender, year of study, motivation for choosing the profession, and satisfaction with the department.MethodsDescriptive and cross-sectional comparative design. The study was conducted with 210 nursing students selected through stratified sampling from a total population of 511. Data were collected via a personal information form and the Quiet Quitting Scale (16 items, 4 subscales). Non-parametric statistical tests (Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis H, Spearman correlation) were employed using SPSS 26.0.ResultsThe mean total score on the Quiet Quitting Scale was 50.04 ± 10.06, indicating a moderate level of disengagement. Male students reported significantly higher quiet quitting scores compared to females (p < 0.05). It was observed that self-protection subscale scores were higher among senior students (p < 0.05). Seniors scored higher on the self-protection subscale, suggesting increased risk awareness. Students who selected nursing due to internal motivation demonstrated lower levels of quiet quitting than those influenced by external factors (p < 0.05). A significant negative correlation was observed between satisfaction with nursing education and all dimensions of quiet quitting (p < 0.05).ConclusionsQuiet quitting is notably present among nursing students and is influenced by gender, academic seniority, motivation for choosing the profession, and satisfaction with the educational experience. Curricular changes, active engagement strategies, and psychosocial support may help strengthen students’ professional identity and reduce passive disengagement. Mentorship programs, professional identity modules, and targeted support for students at higher risk of disengagement—including male students, those with low satisfaction, and those who chose nursing due to external motivations—could further address disengagement risks. These findings may inform international educational policies and contribute to the development of strategies to enhance student commitment and patient safety.Clinical trial numberNot applicable.

THE INFLUENCE OF PRODUCT QUALITY AND PRICE ON PURCHASING DECISIONS THROUGH THE BRAND IMAGE OF WARDHAH SKINCARE PRODUCTS AMONG MANAGEMENT STUDENTS AT HALU OLEO UNIVERSITY

Background: Students are one of the active consumer segments of skincare products, especially the Wardah brand, which is known for its halal products with high quality and affordable prices.In recent years, competition among skincare products in the Indonesian market has intensified, so companies need to pay attention to the factors that influence consumer purchasing decisions.Product quality and price are two main aspects that are often considered, but the success of a brand is also determined by the strength of the brand image formed in the minds of consumers.In the context of students, brand image plays an important role in building trust and perception towards the products consumed. Purpose: This research aims to analyze the influence of product quality and price on purchasing decisions through the brand image of Wardah Skincare products among Management students at Halu Oleo University. Design/methodology: This research uses a quantitative approach with a non-probability sampling technique, specifically accidental sampling.The sample size of 135 respondents was analyzed using SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) with the help of the SmartPLS 3 application. Findings /Result: Product quality and price have a positive and significant impact on brand image and purchase decisions.However, brand image does not significantly affect purchasing decisions and does not mediate the relationship between product quality and price on purchasing decisions. Conclusion: Brand image is not a significant mediating variable, but product quality and price directly influence purchasing decisions. Originality/Value: This research provides a perspective on the importance of maintaining product quality and competitive pricing strategies in shaping student loyalty towards local skincare brands.

The multidimensionality of situational interest on engagement: Philippine traditional folk dances as a sustainable form of exercise and its preservation as an intangible cultural heritage

This study explored the link between situational interest and university engagement among undergraduates from five state universities in the Philippines. The present study used a quantitative predictive design to examine how situational interest dimensions influence engagement in learning Philippine traditional dances. Results indicated that situational interest significantly predicted university engagement, with a notable portion of the variance explained. Novelty and exploration intention positively influenced engagement by boosting motivation through innovative dance experiences, while attention quality negatively influenced engagement, implying that overly rigid learning methods may deter involvement. Instant enjoyment and challenge also enhanced engagement, highlighting the role of enjoyable and challenging elements in sustaining interest. These findings suggest that situational interest can promote deeper involvement in Philippine traditional dances, enhancing engagement in physical education and preserving cultural heritage. The study emphasizes the need for culturally relevant teaching strategies to increase student commitment to traditional dance learning and performance.

Strategy to Increase Student Re-Registration Intention Through Digital Marketing, Institutional Reputation, Location, and Service Quality: Case Study of Asshiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School, Jakarta

This study aims to formulate strategies to enhance students’ re-enrollment intention at Pondok Pesantren Asshiddiqiyah Jakarta by examining the influence of digital marketing, institutional reputation, location, and service quality. Utilizing a quantitative research approach and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-AMOS), data were collected from 230 respondents. The findings reveal that digital marketing, location, and service quality significantly influence the re-enrollment intention of students. Among them, digital marketing shows the strongest influence on service quality (coefficient = 1.037; p = 0.004) and also directly affects re-enrollment intention (coefficient = 0.285; p = 0.046). This emphasizes the importance of digital platforms in shaping perceptions of service quality and student loyalty. On the contrary, institutional reputation is found to have no significant effect on either service quality (coefficient = –0.199; p = 0.299) or re-enrollment intention (coefficient = –0.105; p = 0.246). This indicates that student loyalty in Islamic boarding schools is shaped more by personal experience and internal relationships rather than external reputation. Additionally, location positively and significantly impacts both service quality and re-enrollment intention, reflecting the importance of accessibility and community ties. Service quality itself has a strong, positive effect on re-enrollment intention (coefficient = 0.585; p &lt; 0.001), confirming its central role in sustaining student engagement. The study suggests that institutions should focus on strengthening digital marketing, optimizing strategic location, and improving holistic service quality. The reputation of the institution, while traditionally emphasized, does not significantly influence re-enrollment decisions in this context.

Optimizing Course Design and Instructor Student Interaction for Enhanced Loyalty in Physical Education

This study addresses the critical need to understand factors driving student loyalty in Physical Education (PE). Despite the widespread growth of online learning, PE presents unique pedagogical challenges given its inherently practical, experiential, and health-behavior-focused nature, making effective digital delivery complex. Student loyalty, defined as deep commitment and advocacy beyond mere retention, is therefore crucial for program sustainability, reputation, and the long-term impact on students' healthy lifestyles. While existing research acknowledges the importance of online course design and instructor-student interaction, a significant gap lies in exploring their combined and synergistic influence on student loyalty specifically within the nuanced context of online PE, where practical skill development and sensitive health discussions are paramount. This quantitative study proposes a cross-sectional survey targeting PE students, utilizing established scales to measure perceptions of course design quality, instructor interaction, and student loyalty. Research objectives aim to identify specific impactful design elements, assess instructor interaction's unique contribution, and determine their joint effect on loyalty using statistical regression. Hypothetical findings suggest that both high-quality course design and strong instructor-student interaction are positively and significantly associated with enhanced student loyalty. These anticipated implications underscore the necessity for deliberate optimization of both instructional materials and dynamic human engagement in online PE programs, ultimately fostering greater student commitment and program advocacy. Future research is recommended to empirically validate these relationships, explore more granular components, and conduct longitudinal studies for refining best practices.

Factors Influencing Student Loyalty in Online Physical and Health Education: Engagement and Satisfaction Effects

While online learning offers increased accessibility and flexibility, it presents unique challenges in traditionally hands-on subjects like physical education. Understanding the factors that influence student loyalty in online physical and health promotion education has become crucial for educational institutions seeking to maintain student engagement and retention in virtual learning environments. A quantitative research design employing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was conducted with 501 full-time undergraduate students from Heilongjiang International Studies University enrolled in online physical and health promotion courses. Data were collected using a validated 32-item Likert scale questionnaire measuring all six constructs. The study utilized purposive sampling and applied rigorous reliability and validity testing procedures, including exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. The SEM analysis revealed significant positive relationships between Student Engagement and multiple factors: Student Technological Readiness (β = 1.141, p = 0.003), Self-regulated Efficacy (β = 1.897, p &lt; .001), and Student Autonomy (β = 2.837, p &lt; .001). Both Student Engagement (β = 0.991, p &lt; .001) and Student Satisfaction (β = 1.003, p &lt; .001) demonstrated strong direct effects on Student Loyalty. findings highlight the critical importance of fostering student engagement and satisfaction to enhance loyalty in online physical and health promotion education. The strongest relationship observed was between engagement and student autonomy, emphasizing the role of engagement in developing independent learning capabilities. These results provide valuable insights for educators and administrators to design more effective online physical education programs that prioritize interactive learning experiences and student-centered approaches to enhance retention and loyalty.

Balanced Scorecard: Performance Measurement Of University Mediated By Student Loyalty

This study aims to find empirical evidence of a Balanced Scorecard (BSC) to enhance university performance with student loyalty as a mediating variable. This research employs a quantitative method, and data is collected through questionnaires distributed to 118 students at Indonesia Mandiri University. The data was analysed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings suggest that internal business processes and financial perspectives significantly affect higher education institutional performance. While student trust, learning and growth perspective and college student loyalty have insignificant effects on institutional performance. Student loyalty mediates the relationship between student trust and financial perspective on institutional performance. Student loyalty cannot mediate the relationship between internal business processes and learning and growth on institutional performance. Future studies should investigate student expectations of learning and teaching independently, perhaps from a qualitative perspective, and explore interventions to help manage these expectations when necessary.

The Block in the Field: Intensive Out-of-Classroom Experiences

The purpose of this paper is to examine the extent to which block field trips constitute authentic generative learning opportunities for students and effective curricular choices for instructors. The field trips featured in this research are situated within the context of work integrated learning (WIL) (e.g., Sachs, Rowe, &amp; Wilson, 2016). The theoretical frame used in this study is the WIL Framework developed by Campbell et al. (2019) whose four domains of practice are the student experience, curriculum design, institutional requirements, and stakeholder engagement. Case study methods are used, supported by the interpretivist approaches used in phenomenography. Four types of field trips provide case studies which are analyzed according to their contexts, strengths, challenges, opportunities, and risks. Results of this research reveal that for field trips within the block model, faculty preparation, disciplinary accessibility to field excursions, administrative expectations, student commitment, and user-friendliness of field trip sites must be considered.

Integrating jigsaw teaching into self-regulated learning instruction: an instructional design to improve nursing students' self-regulated learning.

This study aimed to investigate the impact of integrating Jigsaw teaching into Self-regulated learning instruction on nursing students' self-regulated learning ability and engagement. This quasi-experimental study was conducted with 94 nursing students from Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Hubei, China) in two classes during the fourth education semester. One classroom was assigned to the control group (43) and the other to the intervention group (50). In the course of Basic Nursing, the two classes adopted the traditional lecture teaching method and jigsaw teaching method to teach independent learning, respectively. The entire teaching scheme consisted of 12 class hours. The data collection tools were the self-regulated learning ability scale, the learning engagement scale, Self-assessment and mutual assessment forms. Data was collected before and after the interventions. Finally, data was analyzed by paired t-test, independent t-test and repeated measurement analysis of variance via SPSS 25.0 software. The total scores of self-regulated learning ability and learning engagement of nursing students in the Intervention group were better than that of the control group (p < 0.05) before and after the educational intervention. The Self-assessment (F = 6.778, p < 0.001).and group mutual assessment of nursing students (F = 11.037, p < 0.001) in the Intervention group at three time points would show an increasing trend with prolonging the intervention time. Jigsaw teaching integrated with self-regulated learning can effectively enhance nursing students' self-regulated learning ability and commitment, which is worth using in other nursing courses.

A School's Corporate Branding and Marketing Strategies in Relation to Students' Institutional Loyalty

Building student loyalty in higher education requires a strong institutional identity, strategic marketing, and meaningful student engagement. This study explored the relationship between school’s corporate branding and marketing strategies on student institutional loyalty in a private higher education institution in Oroquieta City, Philippines. It utilized a descriptive correlational research design. It targeted 142 graduating students from three academic programs. School's Corporate Branding, Marketing Strategies and Students' Institutional Loyalty questionnaires were used in gathering the data. Mean, Standard Deviation, Pearson correlation, and regression analysis were used in analyzing the data. The findings showed that students rated Very Great Extent in both school’s corporate branding and marketing strategies, which strongly influenced their loyalty, with brand reputation and campus accessibility as key predictors for students’ institutional loyalty. Thus, it can be inferred that integrated branding and marketing efforts help in fostering institutional loyalty in the higher education sector. It is recommended that the institution may further strengthen student loyalty and foster institutional growth through consistent and strategic brand communication, enhanced campus accessibility, personalized engagement initiatives, and continuous, data-driven evaluation of its marketing strategies.

EFFECTIVENESS OF HYBRID GROUP GUIDANCE WITH COGNITIVE RESTRUCTURING TECHNIQUES TO OVERCOME THE PROBLEM OF NATIONAL COMMITMENT

The Society 5.0 era brings a big challenge for Indonesia to maintain the nation's identity in the midst of globalization. The alpha generation, which relies on technology, shows a decline in national values. This research aims to increase the national commitment of students at SMA N 1 Mejobo Kudus through the guidance of a hybrid group with cognitive restructuring techniques. The research method uses a pre-experimental design of one group pretest-posttest with data collection through interviews, observations, and scales. The results of the wilcoxon signed rank test showed a significant increase in the average score of national commitment from 131.375 (low category) to 254.125 (very high category), with a probability value of 0.012. This increase of 122.75% shows that hybrid group guidance services with cognitive restructuring techniques are effective in strengthening national commitment. This approach has been proven to help students change their mindset and build a more positive and responsible character. Therefore, subsequent researchers are advised to expand the scope of this study by involving larger groups or using more diverse approaches to test the effectiveness of these techniques in different contexts.

Principal Leadership: Effective Strategy in Increasing Entrepreneurship Spirit in Schools

Entrepreneurship is one of the five competencies that school principals must have, entrepreneurship leadership for school principals is very much needed in the era of globalization, school principals are required to be able to provide innovation and creativity to equip students and for the progress of the school. The principal of SMAS Al-Hidayah Dlanggu did the same thing. The principal of SMAS Al-Hidayah Dlanggu is able to instill independence in various schoolowned businesses which are managed directly by students accompanied by the principal and teachers who participate in the school. The businesses owned by SMAS Al-Hidayah Dlanggu include: Jahe Jreng, Koprasi. SMAS Al-Hidayah Dlanggu is one of the schools that is included in the independent school category in east java. The formulation of the problem in this study is how is the principals leadership in increasing entreprenurship and the supporting and inhibiting factors at SMAS Al-Hidayah Dlanggu. The type of research used by researchers is qualitative research with a case study approach. The subjects of this study were school principals, teachers and students. Researchers in collecting data by using data observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis using data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing. Test the validity of the data using data credibility and confirmability tests. The results of this study indicate that the principals leadership in increasing entrepreneurship at SMAS Al-Hidayah Dlanggu includes the principal having the ability to provide motivation, decision- making ability, communication ability, analytical ability, responsibility and being able to be a good role model. The Influence of Service Quality and Infrastructure on Student Satisfaction and Loyalty at SMPIT Muhammadiyah Pangkalan Kerinci

Student loyalty reflects a strong commitment to their school, demonstrated through continued support for the services provided and influencing prospective students to enroll. This study aims to analyze the effect of service quality and school facilities on student loyalty, with student satisfaction serving as a mediating variable. The research was conducted at SMPIT Muhammadiyah Pangkalan Kerinci using a quantitative approach. The sampling technique employed was a saturated sample, involving the entire population of 34 students. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results show that service quality and school facilities significantly influence student satisfaction, which in turn affects student loyalty. These findings emphasize that improving service quality and providing adequate facilities are essential in fostering student satisfaction and loyalty. The practical implication of this study suggests that schools should focus on enhancing educational services and infrastructure to build stronger student engagement and commitment.

Influence of Learning Style to Academic Commitment of Library and Information Science Students as Mediated by their E-Learning-Related Attitude

This study investigated the influence of learning styles on the academic commitment of Library and Information Science (LIS) students, with e-learning-related attitudes examined as a mediating factor in the Davao Region. A non- experimental quantitative research design was adapted, employing a descriptive-correlational approach. Data were collected using modified, expert-validated questionnaires tailored to the study's objectives. A total of 168 students participated through complete enumeration, ensuring comprehensive respondent inclusion. Statistical analyses, including mean scores and Pearson’s correlation coefficient, were employed to interpret the data. Surveys were administered in person by the researcher to ensure accuracy and minimize ambiguity. The results indicated that learning style had a direct influence on academic commitment and an indirect influence through e-learning-related attitudes. Students with positive or adaptive learning styles demonstrated more favorable attitudes toward online education, which, in turn, contributed to higher academic commitment. The mediation model suggested that cultivating positive attitudes toward e-learning could strengthen the relationship between learning styles and academic engagement.

Experimental Evaluation of Using Gamification in Software Engineering Education in Software Requirements

Education in Software Engineering traditionally focuses on techniques used in the classroom that generate stress and disinterest in the topics taught; therefore, a significant challenge to the use of more effective and motivating teaching methods to achieve student learning. Moreover, the lack of motivating teaching methods results in a lack of perception regarding the importance of artifacts that come together with software, such as documentation. Consequently, students prefer to focus only on development without paying attention to the necessary artifacts, so the maintenance and update of software in later stages are negatively affected. In response to this problem, the need arises to incorporate more dynamic and effective teaching approaches that encourage student participation and commitment. In this sense, Gamification is presented as an innovative solution that has gained increasing interest in Software Engineering and other fields of education. This research aims to provide the results of a case study in which Gamification has been used in teaching Software Engineering for the topic of software requirements within a master's software engineering course.

Students Are Open to Dealing With a Changing Discipline

The role of the student generation has often been seen as crucial in shaping the focus and practices of a scientific discipline. Therefore, it is essential to understand whether student commitment to the discipline is at risk when confronted with (the need for) change in their discipline. In the current study, we explored this issue for psychology using both experimental and correlational methodologies. Across four different domains—(a) research methods, (b) statistics, (c) history of psychology, and (d) theory of science—we measured students’ (1) interest in issues related to changes in the discipline, (2) expectancy of being able to learn about the evolving nature of psychology, (3) perceived value of engaging with such topics, and (4) intention to dedicate more effort to these issues. While we found consistent differences among the four domains (a)–(d), our experimental manipulation, designed to highlight the (need for) change in psychology discipline, had no significant effect. The experimental groups working on material covering phases of Kuhn's model or the replication crisis showed no decline in expectancy, value, interest, or intention. The results of the correlational analyses and the path model were similarly encouraging: No evidence perceiving the (need for) change in psychology negatively affected study satisfaction. Rather, the relationships were positive. Taken together, our results suggest that psychology students are open to dealing with a changing discipline and that addressing (the need) for change does not compromise students’ commitment to the subject of psychology.

Membangun Branding Sekolah Islam: Studi Komunikasi Strategis dalam Manajemen Pendidikan Islam

The purpose of this study was to understand how the branding management strategy of Insan Cendekia Islamic School was being implemented, including its socialization management and institutional management, through the use of an international curriculum. The school was changing the public mindset about Islamic schools. The management of Insan Cendekia Islamic School was developing a strategic branding communication approach to build a positive reputation and attract prospective students and their parents. In facing the increasingly tight competition in the education sector, Islamic schools were needing to establish a strong identity in order to remain relevant and become a top choice within society. The success in building a brand was not only relying on visual elements such as logos and slogans, but was also reflecting Islamic values that were being integrated into the school’s culture, curriculum, and the quality of its educational services.The results of the study showed that schools with strong branding were tending to gain higher trust from the community and were able to maintain the loyalty of students and alumni. Moreover, the optimal use of digital communication and active involvement in the community were becoming important factors in strengthening the image of Islamic schools. Therefore, branding was not merely being seen as a marketing strategy, but as an essential part of Islamic education management that was focusing on sustainability and institutional development for the future.This study revealed that Insan Cendekia Islamic School, which was succeeding in building strong branding, was applying various communication strategies, including: the use of digital media and social media, where the school was actively using digital platforms to promote its programs and activities in order to increase visibility and appeal to the wider public; the application of storytelling in marketing, which was proving effective in building an engaging brand, even though it was not yet fully optimized by many Islamic schools; the development of strategic partnerships, which was involving collaboration with pesantren, Islamic universities, and other educational institutions to enhance the school’s credibility and reputation; and the improvement of education quality and services, which was focusing on strengthening the quality of learning and school services to build a positive image in the eyes of the public.

Epidemic-induced changes in nursing students' professional identity: a qualitative investigation.

To explore the impact and mechanisms of COVID-19 on the professional identity of nursing students, providing theoretical and practical insights to inform nursing education reform. This study employed Colaizzi's descriptive phenomenological method to explore nursing students' experiences. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, and data collection continued until information saturation was achieved. Data analysis followed Colaizzi's seven-step approach: (1) reading all participants' descriptions to gain a general understanding, (2) extracting significant statements, (3) formulating meanings from these statements, (4) organizing formulated meanings into clusters of themes, (5) developing an exhaustive description, (6) refining the description into a fundamental structure, and (7) validating the findings by returning to participants for feedback. A socialization theory framework was applied to analyze relationships between themes and clarify the mechanisms underlying professional identity development. From March 1 to March 13, 2023, 21 nursing students from seven medical schools in Guangdong Province participated in the research. The findings showed that nursing students' professional identity, initially medium or low before the epidemic, significantly improved afterward. Three key themes related to professional identity improvement were identified based on socialization theory: (1) Social Practice Experience: Activities such as volunteer services and pandemic prevention education promote role affirmation, meaningful engagement, and a strong professional mission. (2) Role Model Observation: Observing frontline healthcare workers enhances professional honor and role expectations. (3) Social Comparison and Evaluation: Positive feedback from media, family, and peers encourages respect and enthusiasm for nursing. The COVID-19 pandemic markedly improved nursing students' professional identity, providing insights for education and career development. To strengthen nursing education, it is advised to emphasize disaster response training, integrate role model examples, and utilize social recognition to foster students' professional identity and commitment.

Digital transformation in teaching Vietnam Communist Party history at Thai Nguyen University of Technology: Challenges and Solutions

This study evaluates the proposed solutions for digital transformation in education of Vietnam's history in the technology of Nguyen University of Technology. Quantitative methods (a study containing 200 students and 20 lecturers) and the application of digital technology remains limited, with research being used for the use of qualitative methods (interviews and document analysis) primarily based on PowerPoint and Google Classroom. The most important challenges include insufficient infrastructure, lack of digital skills and insufficiently diverse digital content. However, student commitments and support guidelines provide opportunities for innovation. The proposed solutions include improving the technical infrastructure, training instructors, and developing digital repository. This study highlights the key role of digital transformation in improving the quality of education, paving the way for future research into the use of artificial intelligence and virtual reality
