This article examines the socio-political dynamics of agrarian issues surrounding the recognition of customary forests in Kasepuhan Karang, Lebak Regency, Banten. The recognition of customary forests is interpreted by indigenous peoples as a political victory. The political policy of recognition provides opportunities for indigenous peoples to reclaim their customary lands that have been subjected to agrarian colonialism, although this is limited to the recognition of customary forest areas. The data presented is based on the author's periodic research, which was intensive during 2018 and 2019, and continued through various field studies in 2020, 2023, 2024, and early 2025. Field data was collected using qualitative methods, through direct observation, live-in, in-depth interviews with key informants, and focus group discussions. The findings of this research show that the state's recognition of customary forests is half-hearted, partial, and fragmentary, so that socio-agrarian conditions remain unchanged and the previous structure of agrarian inequality remains intact. The state unilaterally recognized only some of the proposed customary forests, while ignoring the social dynamics and changes in the Kasepuhan Karang community, which experienced social differentiation due to the concentration of land ownership. The ideas and recommendations proposed are to encourage agrarian reform in indigenous peoples. This is to ensure agrarian justice, which has been ignored by the existing political recognition model. Among the requirements for agrarian reform in indigenous peoples is interconnectivity between ecological aspects, tenure systems, and local socio-cultural aspects, so that its implementation is flexible and contextual, and certainly cannot be standardized.

Abstract : This study aims to analyze the sustainability of customary tradition systems and the mechanisms of socio-religious harmonization in Cikate Village, Malingping District, Lebak Regency, Banten. Using a qualitative approach with participatory ethnography methods, this research deeply explores ritual practices such as Seren Tahun, earth alms (sedekah bumi), and pilgrimage, while reconstructing local historical narratives that form the basis of customary legitimacy. Talcott Parsons' Structural Functionalism theory and Emile Durkheim's Social Cohesion concept are employed as analytical frameworks to understand how social subsystems (customs, religion, and social structure) interact functionally to maintain societal equilibrium. The findings indicate that customary traditions in Cikate Village not only survive as cultural heritage but function actively as social integration mechanisms producing strong mechanical solidarity amid modernization. The kesepuhan system serves as a latent institution (Latency) that maintains collective value patterns and norms, while deliberative consensus practices create social cohesion through shared emotional experiences. Key findings demonstrate that the customary-religious relationship in Cikate Village confirms a pattern of harmonious syncretism not assimilation that erases identity, but accommodation that maintains functional differentiation between elements. System integration is strengthened by emotional bonds (we-feeling), shared moral commitments, and functional interdependence between customary elders, religious figures, and the community. This research confirms that local cultural sustainability requires institutions capable of performing adaptation functions to external changes without losing core identity. The theoretical implications enrich understanding of customary system survivability in universal religion contexts, while practical contributions provide a model for community-based cultural preservation policy development. Keywords: customary traditions, kesepuhan, social cohesion, structural func

This research successfully developed a digital Indonesian language textbook based on the local wisdom of Baduy culture, which has proven useful in improving the narrative and descriptive writing skills of primary school students in Lebak Regency. Although qualitative data showed that teachers and students gave satisfactory responses, especially those related to increased engagement and deeper awareness of local cultural values, quantitative data showed a clear improvement in students' writing skills after using the textbook. Incorporating Baduy cultural values into digital learning tools not only enhances teaching materials but also provides a more contextualized and significant learning environment, thus helping students deepen their cultural identity. Therefore, this digital textbook product provides not only a means of literacy but also a means of cultural preservation, supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar curriculum, which emphasizes culture- and technology-oriented education. Although this study has favorable results, there are opportunities for further development. Further research could expand this reach by involving more people from various backgrounds and assessing the effectiveness of digital textbooks in other Indonesian local cultural frameworks. Further research could examine how other technologies, such as mobile applications or augmented reality, can be incorporated to increase the interactivity and appeal of the learning environment. Based on local knowledge to improve literacy, this approach is projected to provide a more complete picture of the potential of digital media, which is the basis for the sustainability of local culture in the ever-evolving digital age.

Leuit is a traditional Sundanese rice barn that plays a crucial role in maintaining local food security while preserving cultural values. This study aims to analyze the role of leuit in Nyompok Village, Suwakan, Lebak Regency, in supporting sustainable food self-sufficiency. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that leuit functions not only as a storage facility to secure rice during famine, natural disasters, or crop failure, but also as a symbol of social solidarity, local wisdom, and community food sovereignty. This tradition reflects the community’s strong attachment to agrarian practices inherited from their ancestors, where rice is regarded as a symbol of life and prosperity. Moreover, leuit is capable of preserving rice quality over long periods due to its eco-friendly traditional construction. However, modernization and the younger generation’s reliance on market-based systems have gradually diminished its role. Therefore, preserving leuit should be considered as an integrative strategy that ensures food security while maintaining the social, cultural, and spiritual values of the community.

This study aims to determine the influence of the Lunang custom adopted by the Inner Baduy and Outer Baduy communities on the decision to elect the President and Vice President in the 2024 General Election. This study uses a descriptive quantitative method involving 140 respondents from the Baduy community in Kanekes Village, Lebak Regency, Banten Province. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires, then analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine trends and patterns of political decision-making. The results show that the Inner Baduy community tends to be politically neutral based on customary law and spiritual beliefs that emphasize separation from external political affairs. In contrast, the Outer Baduy community shows selective participation influenced by the process of cultural adaptation to the outside world. This study concludes that differences in interpretation and application of the Lunang custom between the two communities have a significant influence on their political decisions, reflecting the role of customary values in shaping democratic participation in Indonesia.

The advancement of information and communication technology has made it easier for society to interact without the limits of space and time. The utilization of technology in public services is essential to create participatory, accountable, and transparent services, as well as to support competitive government institutions. One of its implementations is the application of SP4N-LAPOR! in Lebak Regency. This application serves as a platform for citizens to convey aspirations and complaints online, integrated in a tiered system. This study aims to examine whether the implementation of SP4N-LAPOR! has met the expectations of both the government and the community. Using Everett M. Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation theory with a descriptive qualitative method and a post-positivist paradigm, the findings indicate that SP4N-LAPOR! facilitates citizens in reporting and communicating with the government regarding development issues. The application accelerates the flow of information and enhances public involvement. However, socialization efforts need to be strengthened to optimize its utilization. Overall, the implementation of SP4N-LAPOR! has been running well and supports the improvement of public communication.

<p><em>Although economic growth often serves as a benchmark, a holistic quality of life necessitates measurement through more comprehensive dimensions.</em><em> </em><em>This study analyzes the level of human development based on the maqashid syariah approach across eight regencies/cities in Banten Province.</em><em> Employing a quantitative descriptive method with a composite index construction, this research develops an Islamic Human Development Index (IHDI) encompassing five maqashid syariah dimensions: safeguarding religion (hifdz al-dīn), safeguarding life (hifdz al-nafs), safeguarding intellect (hifdz al-‘aql), safeguarding progeny (hifdz al-nasl), and safeguarding wealth (hifdz al-māl). Secondary data were normalized and calculated using weighted aggregation. The findings reveal significant disparities among regions, with Cilegon City achieving the highest IHDI (0.69546) and Lebak Regency the lowest (0.48958). This inequality primarily stems from the intellect and wealth dimensions, which are consistently lower in agrarian areas compared to urban centers. Tangerang City exhibits a zero score for the religion dimension but maintains a moderate IHDI due to strong intellect and wealth dimensions. These findings underscore the urgency of integrating maqashid syariah into more holistic and equitable regional development planning, focusing on improving educational quality and strengthening local economies in lagging regions, as well as optimizing Islamic social finance instruments like productive zakat and waqf.</em><em></em></p>

The development of digital technology encourages Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to adapt their marketing strategies to improve their competitiveness and consumer purchasing decisions. This study aims to analyze the influence of digital marketing and brand image on MSME product purchasing decisions in Maja District, Lebak Regency, Banten. The research method used is a survey method with a descriptive and causal approach. Data were collected through questionnaires to 63 MSMEs from a total population of 70 MSMEs with probability sampling techniques. Data analysis was carried out using the Partial Least Square–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method through reflective indicators in the SmartPLS 4 application. The results showed that digital marketing had no and insignificant effect on purchasing decisions, with a path coefficient value of -0.209 and a t-statistic value of 0.902 (<1.96). In contrast, brand image has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, with a path coefficient of 0.388 and a t-statistic of 3.528 (> 1.96). This finding indicates that purchasing decisions for MSME products in Maja District are more influenced by consumer perceptions of brand image than by digital marketing activities. The managerial implications of this study emphasize the importance of strengthening brand image as a primary strategy in improving purchasing decisions, as well as the need to evaluate and optimize the implementation of digital marketing to be more effective and oriented towards building brand image. This study is expected to serve as a reference for MSME actors and future researchers in developing digital-based MSME marketing strategies.

The macakal mangosteen plant (Garcinia mangostana var. Macakal) is a plant that originates from Lebak Regency, Banten Province. Mangosteen plants experience slow growth due to their root system, which makes it difficult for them to absorb water and nutrients from the soil. Vitamin B1 is a substance that can stimulate plant tissue growth and development. The nutrient Zn functions to form hormones to achieve physiological balance. This study aims to determine the effect of vitamin B1 and nano zinc fertilizer application through a drip irrigation system on the growth of macakal mangosteen plants. This study was conducted from May to August 2023. It used a factorial randomized block design consisting of two factors. The first factor was vitamin B1 (V) (15 mg/l, 30 mg/l, and 45 mg/l), and the second factor was nano zinc fertilizer (T) (2 ml/l, 4 ml/l, and 6 ml/l). From these two factors, nine treatment combinations were obtained, and each treatment was repeated three times, resulting in 27 experimental units. The responses observed included Plant Height (cm), Stem Diameter (mm), Number of Leaves (pieces), Number of Branches, Leaf Length (cm), Leaf Width (cm), Leaf Length and Width Ratio (cm), and Leaf Greenness Level (chlorophyll units). The concentration of 45 mg/l of vitamin B1 had the best effect on the stem diameter parameter of 10.64 mm and the leaf greenness parameter of 69.81 units. The concentration of 2 ml/l of nano zinc fertilizer had the best effect on the plant height parameter of 43.50 cm. There is an interaction between vitamin B1 and nano zinc fertilizer on the number of leaves parameter, which is 16.33 leaves.

This study evaluates the effectiveness and impact of the UPLAND Grant Program in Lebak Regency, which aims to enhance agricultural productivity and farmers’ income in upland areas through an integrated horticulture–livestock farming system. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining structured questionnaires for technical officers with focus group discussions (FGDs) involving local stakeholders to assess program benefits (outcomes and impacts) and implementation effectiveness along the input–activity–output chain. One of the key issues examined in this study is the reimbursement-based grant disbursement mechanism, which requires local governments to pre-finance program activities using their regional cash resources. This mechanism poses challenges in cash management and carries a risk of delayed implementation, as reimbursements can only be processed according to predetermined quarterly schedules stipulated. The results indicate a significant improvement in technical capacity and agricultural infrastructure, with nearly all farm roads, irrigation systems, seeds, livestock facilities, and farmer training successfully delivered. Farmers’ incomes have begun to increase through mangosteen production and diversification efforts with sheep farming, supporting food security and alternative income streams. However, the economic impact remains unstable due to seasonal production, inconsistent export quality, weak cooperative institutions, and the complexity of the reimbursement mechanism, which constrains regional cash liquidity. The study recommends simplifying administrative and cash planning procedures, strengthening post-harvest value chains and market access, empowering farmer, women, and youth organizations, and adopting digital monitoring and evaluation systems to support faster and more adaptive decision-making.

Stunting in children is the result of failure to thrive at the age of toddlers. Malnutrition experienced in the First 1000 Days of Life (HPK) makes children more at risk for obstacles to physical growth and vulnerability of children to disease. The prevalence in Indonesia in the last 10 years shows that stunting is one of the biggest nutritional problems in toddlers. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between feeding patterns and the incidence of stunting in children aged 12-59 months at the Ciuyah Village Posyandu, Sajira District, Lebak Regency. This study used observational analytical research with a case control design approach. The population in this study was mothers who had children aged 12-59 months at the Ciuyah Village Posyandu, Sajira District. The respondents in this study were 82 respondents, consisting of 41 case samples (total sampling) and 41 control samples (simple random sampling). The independent variable in this study was feeding patterns. The dependent variable in this study is the incidence of stunting. Data were collected using questionnaires and children were measured in height using a stadiometer and converted into a standardized score (z-score). Data were analyzed using Chi-Square test with significance α=0.05. The results showed a significant relationship between feeding patterns and the incidence of stunting in children aged 12-59 months with a p-value of 0.012 (p = 0.012). There needs to be an improvement in feeding patterns and promotion from nurses and health workers to provide good food for children.
