Construction cracks are prone to occur in the construction of large-area flooring, which affects the integrity, aesthetics and quality of the flooring. How to better control construction cracks has become an important issue that construction units must consider. This article will analyze the specific causes and control techniques of construction cracks in large-area flooring of buildings based on actual conditions, in order to provide reference and reference for related construction operations.

As an important place for display and communication, the design of large exhibition halls must not only meet the requirements of aesthetics and functionality, but also be combined with its subsequent use and green construction. This paper aims to deepen the photovoltaic design of the skylight of large exhibition halls, considering its large area, ground-based structure and lighting projection area, and explore how to make full use of renewable energy such as light energy and heat energy while ensuring aesthetics and functionality. A set of perfect design and construction methods are proposed, and verified and applied through actual cases.

Curved structures in waffle slab construction

Horizontally curved, wide flat structures are quite often used as superstructures of bridges and as floor slabs in large exhibition halls. Such structures are built in reinforced or prestressed concrete construction, or in composite construction with a concrete‐slab‐on‐rigid‐steel gridwork. To predict accurately the response of such curved structures to static and dynamic loads, it is essential to use accurate estimates of the structure's various rigidities. In this paper, analytical expressions are derived for predicting the flexural and torsional rigidities during the precracking and postcracking stages. The experimental program consisted of nine tests on one‐eighth‐scale, horizontally curved, concrete waffle slabs. There were three series of tests, each consisting of three types of specimens—two rectangular in plan for the pure bending tests and the third square in plan for the pure twisting test. Results from the experimental investigation confirm the analytical predictions for the various rigidities during the precracking and postcracking stages. It is also shown that the torsional stiffnesses of horizontally curved, flat structures are much higher than previously estimated.

At the present time, there are in operation a large number of sound amplification systems installed mainly for the purpose of speech reinforcement. Many of the existing systems appear to have been installed without regard for the acoustical requirements for high speech intelligibility, and the phrase public-address system has become almost an anathema to sensitive listeners. Bolt Beranek and Newman, Inc. has become involved in the design of sound amplification systems in conjunction with other aspects of architectural acoustics. A number of principles have been developed as guides for the design of speech reinforcement amplification systems that provide a high degree of intelligibility and naturalness. These principles will be discussed and illustrated by the designs of several typical speech reinforcement systems, including those installed in a large exhibition hall, a reverberant church, a stockholders' meeting room, and an auditorium designed for maximum natural reinforcement by proper acoustical design.
