Ecotoxicological impact of mosquitocidal jasmine-based oils nanoemulsion on Nile tilapia fish Oreochromis niloticus

Nanoemulsion technology has become a promising approach for improving stability and bioavailability of natural products, providing more efficient and eco-friendly biocides. Jasmine oil, derived from Jasminum spp., represents a natural product with mosquitocidal properties. This study investigated the potential pathophysiological effects of jasmine oil nanoemulsion (JA-NE) on Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), a species of economic importance in Egypt. The acute toxicity assessment indicated a 96-h LC₅₀ value above 100 mg/L, with no adverse effects observed at sublethal doses. However, chronic exposure at sublethal concentrations of 5 and 10 mg/L (5 and 10%) for 28 days revealed significant elevation in hepatic enzymes (AST, ALT) and creatinine, indicating potential liver and kidney stress. Lipid peroxidation and antioxidant responses were also emphasized by a significant increase in oxidative stress biomarkers, particularly malondialdehyde (MDA), and mixed responses of glutathione (GSH) and glutathione-S-transferase (GST) levels. Additionally, immune functions were altered where proinflammatory cytokines, interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), exhibited concentration-dependent changes. Histopathological analysis revealed tissue damage in gills, liver, kidneys, and brain, showing lamellar fusion, hepatocyte vacuolation, and renal tubular necrosis. In conclusion, although JA-NE exhibited low acute toxicity, but its prolonged exposure to sublethal doses can induce physiological risks to aquatic organisms. Such findings underscore the need for careful consideration of dosage and exposure duration of nanoemulsions to balance their benefits versus their potential aquatic ecosystem impacts.

Flower-based essential oils and encapsulation: a synergistic approach for bioavailability improvement

Essential oils (EOs) are intricate blends of volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds sourced from various plant tissues like flowers, buds, leaves and bark. However, their clinical utility is significantly constrained by inherent physicochemical properties that limit bioavailability-including high volatility, poor water solubility and susceptibility to degradation. Encapsulation has emerged as an effective approach to overcome these challenges by entrapping the essential oil within polymeric nanocarriers, which acts as a shield, preserving their integrity. Techniques like spray drying, freeze drying, molecular inclusion and coating have been investigated for the encapsulation of these flower crop essential oils, with significant outcomes. Key findings reveal that cyclodextrin inclusion complexes increased the half-life of rose oil terpenoids by 300 %, while chitosan-based nano emulsions enhanced antimicrobial efficacy of jasmine oil by 5-fold. Additionally, liposomal encapsulation of lavender oil demonstrated a 70 % improvement in dermal penetration compared to non-encapsulated forms. This review provides key insights on using encapsulation for unlocking the full potential of flower crop-based essential oils. With optimization of techniques and careful material selection, encapsulation can successfully enhance bioavailability, stability and efficacy.

24-epibrassinosteroid and jasmine oil improve vegetative growth and productivity of Flame Seedless grapevines under abiotic stresses

Abiotic stresses such as high temperature, humidity fluctuations, and excessive light negatively impact grapevine physiological functions, resulting in irregular vegetative growth and reduced productivity. Natural plant growth regulators and essential oils offer potential eco-friendly strategies to mitigate these adverse effects. This study investigated the effects of foliar applications of 24-epibrassinosteroid (Br) at concentrations of 1, 2, and 3 mg/L and jasmine oil (JO) at 500, 1,000, and 1,500 µL/L on Flame Seedless grapevines exposed to abiotic stress. The treatments aimed to enhance vegetative development, nutrient uptake, biochemical attributes, and yield. Results showed that all treatments successfully improved the vegetative growth of Flame Seedless grapevines by increasing leaf area, shoot length, diameter, number of leaves/shoots, pruning wood weight, internode length, and coefficient of wood ripening. They also improved the mineral content in leaf petioles, total carbohydrates in canes, chlorophyll contents in leaves, and yield per vine. In addition, the quality of the Flame Seedless grapevine was improved by increasing cluster weight, length, width, berry firmness, length, width, soluble solids content (SSC), titratable acidity (TA), SSC/TA ratio, total sugars, phenols, anthocyanin, and flavonoids, activities of peroxidase (POX), phenylalanine ammonialyase (PAL), polyphenoloxidase (PPO) and catalase (CAT) enzyme in berry. Application of Br at 3 mg/L yielded the highest significant values for vegetative growth parameters, yield, and physical characteristics. While JO at a rate of 1,500 µL/L increased the total phenols, flavonoids, and anthocyanin, as well as PPO, PAL, POX activity, and CAT in the berry. Foliar application of Br and JO effectively mitigated the adverse effects of abiotic stress in Flame Seedless grapevines.

Jasmine sambac L. essential oil attenuates inflammation and pain via TRPV1.

Pain and inflammation are complex physiological responses. The drugs that are available in the market have multiple side effects. Thus, the search for safer effective therapeutics became a significant area of research. In this study, Jasmine sambac L. essential oil, which is aromatic and therapeutic in nature, has been studied for its potential anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive activities as well as its mechanism of action. The findings from this research indicated that the intraplantar (ipl) administration of jasmine essential oil to the animals produced anti-inflammatory effects in the carrageenan-induced paw edema model. In addition, jasmine essential oil showed significant inhibition of pain responses compared to the control group in the acetic acid-induced writhing test and immersion tail-flick test. These findings suggest that jasmine oil exhibits anti-nociceptive andanti-inflammatory effects in animals. More data are needed to determine its therapeutic value in human clinical trials. The anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive effects were mediated by the transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1), a key pain receptor. The chemical composition of jasmine essential oil was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to determine the bioactive constituents that can be responsible for these effects. The results showed that the oil consists of active constituents with various therapeutic activities as reported in earlier studies. Thus, jasmine essential oil can be utilized as a complementary therapy for pain and inflammation treatment.

Eco-friendly drilling of AA 5052-H32 Alloy: influence of jasmine-based cutting fluid on surface quality and burr Formation

ABSTRACT This research presents a study of biodegradable-cutting fluid made by 85 wt. (%) jasmine oil and 15 wt. (%) organic petroleum-based additive as a green substitute for conventional oils in drilling AA 5052-H32 aluminium alloy. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was applied to investigate the factors of spindle speed and feed rate on surface quality, burr formation and temperature across three lubrication situations: dry, 90–10% and 80–20% water-to-oil mix. Results show that a surface roughness of 7.3 µm at 6370 rpm and 2867 mm/min under 80–20% and retraction rate. This lubrication regime had the smallest amount of burr height of 0.07 mm as the most conducive cooling minimum temperature of 33.8°C. In addition, machine learning models are introduced to predict surface roughness that the Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) model yields the best prediction accuracy. Additionally, state-of-the-art machine learning models were applied to the experimental data to optimise the drilling process. The Optimized Gaussian Process Regression (OGPR) model showed the highest accuracy (R2 = 0.86, RMSE = 1.33, MAE = 1.12), followed by the WNN model (R2 = 0.89), while linear regression performed the worst. These results highlight the potential of ML models in enhancing machining efficiency and sustainability in drilling.

Antimicrobial Activity of Jasminum grandiflorum Absolute in vitro and in situ Study against Phytopathogenic Bacteria

Abstract Traditional medicine has long used jasmine oil to treat a wide range of conditions. Jasmine oil offers numerous health benefits, from stress relief to improved digestion. The culinary industry is one of the many potential applications for jasmine essential oil. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial properties of Jasminum grandiflorum absolute essential oil (JGEO). To this end, its antibacterial activity was evaluated in the vapour phase on fruit and vegetable models and in vitro using the disc diffusion method and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). The results showed that Agrobacterium radiobacter was the most susceptible to JGEO. This was confirmed by both approaches. JGEO had potent antibacterial activity against A. radiobacter and Priestia megaterium after inoculation on fruit and vegetable models in in situ tests. Our results, together with previous studies, show that JGEO has strong antibacterial properties. This makes it a viable option for use as a preservative against phytopathogenic bacteria in fruit and vegetable models.

Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Green Synthesized Jasmine Oil Medicated Silver Nanoparticles

Inflammation is a natural immune response, but chronic inflammation contributes to various diseases. Jasmine oil has anti-inflammatory properties, and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are known for their antimicrobial and healing effects. This study explores the anti-inflammatory potential of green-synthesized AgNPs using jasmine oil. METHODS: Jasmine oil and silver nitrate were combined to create silver nanoparticles, as shown by a color shift. To produce nanoparticles, the mixture underwent centrifugation and ultrasonication. The BSA Denaturation Assay was used to evaluate for anti-inflammatory action. Jasmine oil AgNPs (10–50 µL) were combined with BSA, heated, and their absorbance was measured at 660 nm. Assay for Egg Albumin: Samples containing egg albumin were heated, and the absorbance at 660 nm was measured. Diclofenac sodium served as the standard. RESULTS : AgNPs made from green-synthesised jasmine oil shown dose-dependent anti-inflammatory action by lowering denaturation of proteins. Absorbance decreased in the BSA assay from 0.151 (10 µL) to 0.081 (30 µL), with a minor rise at 40 µL (0.118). The readings in the egg albumin assay dropped from 0.44 (10 µL) to 0.153 (40 µL). These results validate the produced nanoparticles' ability to reduce inflammation. CONCLUSION: Green-synthesized jasmine oil AgNPs displayed effective anti-inflammatory activity, supporting their potential use in natural wound healing and skin care applications. Evaluation of sun protection factor (SPF) value of essential oils and its application in sunscreen cream

Abstract Essential oils contain terpenes compounds that have antioxidant properties, making them suitable for use as additional ingredients in sunscreen cream formulations. The objectives of this study were to determine the SPF values of 9 types of essential oils, to investigate the process of making sunscreen creams with added essential oils, and to analyze the quality characteristics of the resulting sunscreen creams. The study consisted of two stages. The first stage aimed to screen of 9 types of essential oils with the highest SPF value. The second stage aimed to apply the essential oil with the highest SPF value in the manufacture of sunscreen cream. The first factor was the type of essential oil with the highest SPF, which consisted of 2 levels, namely M1 = essential oil 1 and M2 = essential oil 2. The second factor was the concentration of essential oil, namely K0 = 0%, K1 = 0.3%, K2 = 0.6%, and K3 = 0.9%. The analysis carried out on sunscreen cream was SPF value, pH, homogeneity, spreadability, and hedonic organoleptic. The results showed that 2 types of essential oils that have a high SPF values are jasmine oil with an SPF value of 36.4 (high protection category) and fresh lilac oil with an SPF value of 24.4 (medium protection category). The pH value of the sunscreen cream met SNI 16-4399-2016, which is in the range of 4.5-8. The cream preparations were homogeneous, evenly distributed, and showed no coarse grains. The sunscreen cream that was preferred by the panelists was the cream with the addition of essential oil at a concentration of 0.3%.

This review represents different types of extraction techniques of volatile oils from aromatic plants, Jasmine Oil in specific, starting from Classical old techniques & passing through new innovative techniques. Due to a wide application of volatile oils since a very long time ago till nowadays, the tendency to get and to know the exact components, that are causing either the valuable and memorable essence, pharmacological effects or other beneficial applications for humans, is increased and is the main reason to get inventions in such field. Then after having classical techniques, the sight is moved towards new green energy idea and to get maximum yield as possible within short period with high quality. Hereby, in this review, the different extraction techniques of volatile oils would be reviewed to find out the most suited valued techniques used for extraction of volatile oils from Jasminum Officinale. Jasminum Officinale, a member of the Oleaceae family, has been researched for any potential pharmacological effects. Jasminum Officinale can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including Mental Depression, Erectile Dysfunction, Neurological Stress, and Menstrual Disorders. It can also be used as an analgesic, an antispasmodic, a galactogogue, and more.

Evaluation of the Mosquito Repellent Activity of Jatropha curcas Seed Oil: A Phytochemical and Formulation-Based Study

Background Mosquito-borne diseases remain a persistent public health challenge in tropical and subtropical regions. The extensive reliance on synthetic mosquito repellents like DEET N N-diethyl-meta-toluamide has raised concerns about toxicity resistance and environmental degradation. In response to these issues plant-derived repellents are gaining attention for their safety and sustainability.nbspObjective This study investigated the insecticidal and repellent properties of Jatropha curcas seed oil formulated into herbal mosquito repellent cones.nbspMethods The cones were prepared with varying concentrations of fixed oil and natural excipients including cow dung camphor charcoal benzoin gum acacia and jasmine oil. The formulations F1 to F4 were evaluated for burning time smoke visibility ash content irritation potential odour and mosquito mortality. Phytochemical analysis Soxhlet extraction of fixed oil microscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy FTIR spectroscopy were performed to characterize the material and assess its bioactive compounds.Results Results showed that J. curcas fixed oil particularly in higher concentrations possessed potent mosquito repellent and insecticidal activity attributed to terpenoids and phorbol esters.nbspConclusion The findings support the use of Jatropha-based herbal cones as safe cost-effective alternatives to chemical repellents in mosquito control.

Evaluating Various Lactose Types as Solid Carriers for Improving Curcumin Solubility in Solid Self-Nanoemulsifying Drug Delivery Systems (S-SNEDDSs) for Oral Administration

Curcumin, a bioactive compound derived from turmeric, possesses numerous pharmaceutical properties; however, its poor aqueous solubility and permeability result in low bioavailability. This study aims to develop a solid self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (S-SNEDDS) using different lactose types as solid carriers for the oral administration of curcumin to enhance its solubility. The system comprised curcumin, an oil phase, and a surfactant. Jasmine oil, as the oil phase, and Cremophor® RH40, as the surfactant, were selected due to their superior ability to solubilize curcumin. A microemulsion was then prepared using a ternary phase diagram. The liquid SNEDDSs were converted into S-SNEDDSs by employing three solid carriers: Tablettose® 80, FlowLac® 100, and GranuLac® 200. Dissolution studies conducted in simulated gastric fluid demonstrated a significant improvement in curcumin solubility in the S-SNEDDS formulations compared to curcumin powder. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses confirmed the appearance of curcumin in the S-SNEDDS, while Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy indicated compatibility between the excipients and curcumin. Additionally, an accelerated stability study conducted over four weeks at 40 °C and 75% relative humidity showed no significant changes in the physical appearance of the S-SNEDDS formulations. These findings suggest that the S-SNEDDS formulation effectively enhances curcumin’s solubility, potentially improving its bioavailability for oral administration.

The battle against dental caries: defeating biofilm formed by bacterial isolates using vanillin and plant essential oils: in vitro and ex vivo approaches

BackgroundInfections caused by biofilm-forming bacteria have significantly linked to dental plaque and caries. The aim of this study is to assess efficacy of some natural compounds in inhibition and eradication of biofilm formed by bacterial isolates from dental infections.ResultsBacterial isolates were recovered from dental plaque/caries and identified using standard microbiological tests and 16S rDNA sequencing. The isolated bacterial strains include Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Enterococcus faecalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Escherichia coli. The antibiotic susceptibility was determined by disk diffusion method and revealed that the majority of isolates showed high antibiotic resistance, and 61% of isolates were found to be multidrug resistant. The biofilm formation capacity of isolates was investigated using microtiter plate assay. Among the 77 bacterial isolates, seventeen showed moderate biofilm formation capacity, twenty-two showed near-moderate, thirty-four had weak biofilm-forming capacity, and four were non-biofilm producers. The antibiofilm activity of tested compounds (rose and jasmine oils, propolis, vanillin, and vinegar) was evaluated against isolates with highest biofilm-forming capacity. The in vitro antibiofilm ability of tested substances were investigated alone or in combination with each other to evaluate their ability to prevent biofilm formation or destroy preformed single-/multispecies biofilms. Finally, antibiofilm ability of tested combination was evaluated ex vivo on natural teeth. Our results showed that vanillin in combination with rose or jasmine oils showed promising biofilm inhibition and biofilm eradication activities in both the in vitro and ex vivo models.ConclusionsDental plaque and caries can be successfully prevented using combination of vanillin with rose or jasmine oils, and these compounds can be incorporated in new anticaries dental formulations.

The Effect of Endorphin Massage with Jasmine Oil on Severe Back Pain Experienced in the Third Trimester of Pregnancy: A Case Study

Back pain is a common complication during the final trimester of pregnancy. This pain, which begins in the early stages, intensifies in the third trimester due to the enlargement of the uterus and pressure on the skeletal system. One method to alleviate back pain is endorphin massage. Objective: To evaluate the effect of endorphin massage using jasmine oil on a primiparous pregnant woman at the 30th gestational week experiencing back pain. Method: This clinical case study involved applying endorphin massage combined with jasmine oil to the entire back and sacral region of a primiparous woman in her third trimester for a total of 6 sessions over 12 days, every other day, each lasting 20 minutes. Data were collected using the Demographic Characteristics Form and the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI), and the scores were compared. Results: Analysis of the 1st and 6th applications of the massage showed a decrease in the woman’s severe back pain over time. The non-pharmacological approach was well-received by the pregnant woman, enhancing communication between the midwife and herself. The woman reported taking the recommendations more seriously. Conclusion: The study observed that endorphin massage with aromatherapy reduced severe back pain and positively affected emotional well-being. It is recommended as a safe, non-invasive, easy-to-apply, and cost-effective method in midwifery care. Further evidence-based research is suggested to generalize the benefits of jasmine oil back massage for pregnant women.

A Formulation and Evaluation of Multipurpose Herbal Cream

Home grown gorgeousness care products are the procedure used to advancement the human appearance. The maximum fact of our effort is to make a home-grown cream which can distribute multipurpose effect similar as a moisturizer, reduce skin break out and skin frustration or irritation. The home-grown cream has best properties as well as having nourishing values utilizing less chemical which secures the skin from the different skin issue. Since the cream was arranged by utilizing candid ingredients also basic technique therefore the cream is also cost-effective. We take four herbals (Natural) components in our formulation, which are Aloe vera gel (Aloe barbadensis), Neem Leaves (Azardirachta Indica), Turmeric (curcumin Longa), and Cucumber. Altogether the products were found to be stable with no mark of stage separation and no modification in color. The cream was ready with the cream base that is bees wax, Liquid Paraffin, Ehanol, Borax, Methyl Paraben, Propyl paraben, Distilled Water, Jasmine oil, Aloe vera gel, Dimethyl sulphoxide, Extract of Neem, Turmeric and Cucumber. Via Slab Technique, we have established three sets of our herbal cream formulations, i.e. F1, F2 and F3. Altogether three sets remained estimated for different parameters like appearance, pH, Viscosity, Washability, Spreadability, greasiness, Stability. All the three formulations F1, F2 and F3 displayed good appearance, pH, viscosity, washability, spreadability, stability and greasiness was detected. Similarly, the formulations F1, F2, F3 exhibited to no redness and frustration (Irritation), in Irritancy Study then they remained easily washable. All three formulations of set remained stable on room temperature.

Preserving Postharvest Quality of Medjool Date Palm Fruits by Edible Oil Emulsions Application

Edible oils work to protect the fruit in more than one way. They act as a barrier or insulating layer that prevents moisture loss from the fruits, prevents the development of microbes on the surface, prevents chemical changes in the fruits, and prevents the deterioration of the fruits. These functions work to improve the quality of the fruits and increase the shelf life of the fruits. Medjool date palm fruits experience post-harvest difficulties such as weight loss, reduced taste, microbial contamination, and general quality degradation during storage, particularly at room temperature. Essential oils with antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant qualities, such as jasmine oil, black cumin oil, and jojoba oil, have demonstrated significant promise for improving fruit storability and quality. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of treatment with edible coating with jasmine oil, black cumin oil, and jojoba oil of Medjool date palm fruits under room storage conditions to lengthen shelf life, preserve quality, and reduce refrigeration during the seasons of 2021 and 2022. The study treatments were jasmine oil 1.5%, black cumin oil 1.5%, jojoba oil 7%, and untreated fruits as a control. Data showed that treatment with edible coating with jojoba oil reduced Medjool date palm fruit decay percentages and weight loss, delayed skin separation, and improved chemical fruit properties such as total sugar and total soluble solids (TSS%), followed by black cumin oil and then jasmine oil. The results showed that using jasmine oil, black cumin oil, or jojoba oil as a layer of essential oils provides a realistic option to enhance storability, extend shelf life, maintain quality, and reduce refrigeration in Medjool date palm fruits.

Effect of Jasmine Oil Back Massage on Pain Intensity among Primigravidae during the First Stage of Labor

Background: Back massage with jasmine oil is the most popular method that nurses can use during labor to reduce pain. It has no side effects for both the mother and the fetus as well as it lessens the need for intrusive pain relief techniques. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of jasmine oil back massage on pain intensity among primigravidae during the first stage of labor. Materials and Method: A quasi-experimental research design was used at the labor and delivery section of El-Shatby Maternity University Hospital in Alexandria city. A convenient sample of 100 laboring women, who were meeting the inclusion criteria, was recruited. They were assigned equally (50 laboring women) to either the study or the control group. The study group received back massage with jasmine oil, while the control group received routine hospital care. Collection of data lasted 6 months, 3 days/week. Results: Both the study and control groups were matching in almost all of their socio-demographic characteristics and history of current pregnancy, where the relationship between them was not statistically significant. However, high significant reduction of labor pains was noticed in the study group following the intervention and at the end of the active phase of labor, compared to the control group. Conclusion: Lower back massage with jasmine oil during the active phase of the first stage of labor was highly significantly effective in reducing the intensity of labor pains. Recommendations: Non-pharmacologic pain relief methods during labor, including jasmine oil back massage, should be added to nursing curricula and nursing care protocols. Health teaching classes for pregnant women should be conducted to increase their awareness about the effect and benefits of jasmine oil back massage in decreasing labor pain.

Synthesis of eco-friendly layered double hydroxide and nanoemulsion for jasmine and peppermint oils and their larvicidal activities against Culex pipiens Linnaeus

Mosquito-borne diseases represent a growing health challenge over time. Numerous potential phytochemicals are target-specific, biodegradable, and eco-friendly. The larvicidal activity of essential oils, a jasmine blend consisting of Jasmine oil and Azores jasmine (AJ) (Jasminum sambac and Jasminum azoricum) and peppermint (PP) Mentha arvensis and their nanoformulations against 2nd and 4th instar larvae of Culex pipiens, was evaluated after subjecting to different concentrations (62.5, 125, 250, 500, 1000, and 2000 ppm). Two forms of phase-different nanodelivery systems of layered double hydroxide LDH and oil/water nanoemulsions were formulated. The synthesized nanoemulsions showed particle sizes of 199 and 333 nm for AJ-NE and PP-NE, with a polydispersity index of 0.249 and 0.198, respectively. Chemical and physiochemical analysis of TEM, SEM, XRD, zeta potential, drug loading capacity, and drug release measurements were done to confirm the synthesis and loading efficiencies of essential oils' active ingredients. At high concentrations of AJ and PP nanoemulsions (2000 ppm), O/W nanoemulsions showed higher larval mortality than both LDH conjugates and crude oils. The mortality rate reached 100% for 2nd and 4th instar larvae. The relative toxicities revealed that PP nanoemulsion (MA-NE) was the most effective larvicide, followed by AJ nanoemulsion (AJ-NE). There was a significant increase in defensive enzymes, phenoloxidase, and α and β-esterase enzymes in the treated groups. After treatment of L4 with AJ, AJ-NE, PP, and PP-NE, the levels of phenoloxidase were 545.67, 731.00, 700.00, and 799.67 u/mg, respectively, compared with control 669.67 u/mg. The activity levels of α-esterase were 9.71, 10.32, 8.91, and 10.55 mg α-naphthol/min/mg protein, respectively. It could be concluded that the AJ-NE and PP-NE nanoformulations have promising larvicidal activity and could act as safe and effective alternatives to chemical insecticides.

Oketani massage with jasmine oil improves breast milk production on postpartum days 1–3

Objective:This study aimed to determine the effect of Oketani massage with jasmine oil on improving breast milk production on days 1–3.Materials and Methods:This preexperimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted with 44 eligible respondents, selected using an incidental sampling technique. Oketani massage with jasmine oil was conducted once a day for 3 consecutive days. A total of 44 respondents were selected with incidental sampling. Sufficient breast milk production was observed through the frequency of baby urination in 24 h, the frequency of baby defecation in 24 h, the baby’s weight, and the length of time the baby slept or remained calm after breastfeeding.Results:Results showed that Oketani massage using jasmine oil impacted on increasing breast milk production in postpartum on days 1–3 (Z = 6.633,P= 0.000). The baby’s weight in 3 days was increased after intervention compared with intervention before (2858.25 ± 180.62 g vs. 2881.66 ± 180.96 g,t= 55.33,P= 0.000), the baby’s urination frequency was increased after intervention (4.55 ± 0.50 vs. 7.20 ± 0.70,t= 17.87,P= 0.000), the breastfeeding frequency has decreased (10.27 ± 1.42 vs. 8.82 ± 0.82,t= 6.94,P= 0.000), and the time of baby’s sleeping or calming state has increased (5.14 ± 6.46 h vs. 8.48 ± 10.24 h,t= 2.11,P= 0.041).Conclusion:Oketani massage combined with jasmine oil has been shown to be effective on improving breast milk production on days 1–3.

Aromatherapy and Jasmine Oil Inhalation in Improving Brain Activities

Aromatherapy is the therapeutic usage of aromatic compounds for psychological well-being, most commonly essential oils.The neurological system is stimulated by the actions of jasmine oil.The research findings demonstrated that both the anterior center and the left posterior region had increased beta wave power (13-30 Hz).On one hand, jasmine oil enhances pleasant emotions like feelings of well-being, activity, freshness, and romance.On the other hand, unpleasant feelings like feeling drowsy were also significantly reduced.Jasmine oil is helpful in the treatment of severe depressive episodes and relaxes the nerves, eliciting feelings of assurance, enthusiasm, and euphoria while revitalizing and replenishing energy and enhancing memory.Jasmine oil mostly consists of -linalool, Benzyl propionate, and Benzyl acetate.The reported properties of volatile oils include being carminative, aromatic, antidepressant, antispasmodic, astringent, antimicrobial, and stimulatory.Theta and alpha waves increased in response to the jasmine lactone odor, reflecting a calming impact.By the stimulating effect on brain activity, methyl jasmonate, and cineole, a key ingredient in jasmine oil, enhanced beta waves while suppressing theta and alpha waves, resulting in improved brain functionality.Psychoactive drugs used to treat mood disorders can have a variety of adverse effects.Research on how aromatherapy affects mood could help scientists create drugs with fewer side effects.
