Abstract: One type of noble-gas ion laser that functions in the visible and ultraviolet spectrums is the argon ion laser. The visible and ultraviolet wavelengths of the argon ion laser are 408.9 to 686.1 nm and 275 to 363.8 nm, respectively. In 1964, William Bridges created the argon ion laser. Because they are made of ionized species of the noble gas argon, these continuous wave (CW) lasers are also referred to as ion lasers. The energy level transition of argon ions plays a role in the laser operations of an argon ion laser. An argon ion laser may generate energies of up to 100 W in the visible spectrum.[28]
