Jadwiga Zamoyska (1831–1923) – założycielka Szkoły Domowej dla Kobiet i propagatorka wychowania chrześcijańskiego

The presented article attempts to familiarize the reader with Jadwiga Zamoyska (1831‒1923), the founder of the Domestic Work School for Women, the author of the pedagogical system, a polyglot and a patriot concerned about the fate of the homeland. The author undertook a hermeneutic interpretation of the achievements of Jadwiga Zamoyska, convinced that the content referred to, set in a specific historical era, can still be a signpost and a lesson for future generations, and can still offer a lot to the recipient.

Cross-cultural communications in the digital age: relevance for the activities of journalists

Introduction. The article examines the problems of cross-cultural communications in the context of information technologies development and globalization, the influence of the media on the formation of moral and cultural systems in society. Journalism, as a socially important profession, should report all processes in a multicultural, multinational environment, considering cross-cultural interaction. Relevance of the study. The relevance of the study of cross-cultural communications in journalism is determined by the intercultural information environment, the need to take into account the ethno-cultural and socio-political differences of other countries journalists’ work, that requires developing intercultural sensitivity. The goal of the study is to consider the problems of cross-cultural communication from the point of view of journalistic activities in a transparent information environment. We need to: 1) analyze the main definitions and modern approaches to various aspects of cross-cultural interaction; 2) consider the influence of cross-cultural differences on psychological, political and social processes, on their reflection in the information space; 3) formulate the main directions of cross-cultural interaction for journalistic activities. Methodology. The methods of comparative analysis of scientific sources, hermeneutic interpretation of terms and postulates, situational modeling, monitoring of publications in Ukrainian and foreign mass media made it possible to determine reference points of cross-cultural communications for the media, to model options for the activities of journalists after the war in an information-rich world. Results. In the conditions of the development of technologies, the creation of various types of cross-media, and the popularity of social media, the role of journalistic activity is becoming more and more decisive. The development of society’s perception of the diversity, the formation of tolerance, and the understanding of the importance of multiculturalism and multilingualism for society depends on the reflection of cross-cultural differences, taking into account the theoretical background of such interaction. Conclusions. For Ukrainian journalists, the problem of underestimating knowledge of cross-cultural communications is especially acute during the war and lies in several areas: coverage of events inside the country, based on compliance with journalistic standards; coverage of the events in Ukraine to an international audience that lives in another dimension, often cannot imagine the scale of the loss and grief of Ukrainians; activities of fixers to accompany journalists from other countries coming to cover events in Ukraine.

Ecclesiastes‘ voice. To the problem of communicative structures in lyrics

The paper discusses the interaction between the lyrical subject and the author in the context of the communicative theory of lyrics, using the poetry of the famous Ukrainian postmodern poet Yuriy Izdryk as the example. The question of defining the speaker (“voice” of poetry) and separating it from the real figure of the author still remains unresolved. The subject of this study is the forms of expression of the lyrical subject in the artistic plane. The aim of the study is to distinguish the lyrical subject in the poetry of Yuriy Izdryk, to understand its specific features and functioning in the poetic text. In the course of our work, we used the methods of hermeneutical interpretation, receptive aesthetics and general analysis. In the study, we characterize the peculiarities of expressing the lyrical subject in the lyrical text “Ecclesiastes 2.0” by Yuriy Izdryk. Thus, based on the study of communicative structures in the lyrics by D. Burdorf, it was found that the lyrical subject is represented by the pronoun “we” (in various forms), which belongs to the category of open “we”, which can include the lyrical subject himself, as well as other participants in communication. Based on the context of the work, where the reader is immersed in reflections on human relationships, “we” can mean the “I” of anyone who will deal with the text. The actual “I” appears at the end of the work, and it is in this part that the style changes: the lyrical subject moves from general reflections into the plane of a personified and intimate address. Based on the internal logic of the text, this “I” can be characterized as the “I” of a conscious, mature person with a lot of life experience, small ambitions and lack of egocentrism. Given the concept of the fictional nature of the poetic text, the “I” and its address to the “you” in the text are artistic imitation. From this perspective, the addressee “you” does not refer to a real person, and “I” is an artistic principle for building this communication. From the perspective of the reader, the text offers a wide field for interpretation. Reflections make it possible to compare the recipient’s experience with the concepts proposed in the text and, at the same time, to try on the role of the other, thanks to the personalized address. The novelty of the study is the consideration of the lyrical subject in terms of communication strategies. The results open up future possibilities of talking about the lyrical subject in the context of other poetic works of the author. Also, the results can be applied in a comparative aspect by comparing the lyrical subjects in the works of other prominent postmodern poets. This will allow us to identify specific features of the lyrical subject of Ukrainian postmodernism in general.

Reading Texts Performatively: Disruptive Gestures in Heinrich von Kleist

This article investigates how Heinrich von Kleist's gestures interrupt cognitive processes and implicate the embodied reader in the text—as a participant in the collective performance of meaning. While Kleist does not present a comprehensive theory of gesture, he provides threads to follow that address the role of gesture in epistemology and aesthetics in two of his two well-known essays, "Über die allmähliche Verfertigung der Gedanken beim Reden" ("On the Gradual Formulation of Thoughts While Speaking") and "Über das Marionettentheater" ("On the Theater of Marionettes"). By reading these essays with and through Kleist's novella Das Erdbeben in Chili (The Earthquake in Chile), gestures become visible as productive interruptions of cognition that both disrupt hermeneutic interpretations and draw matter into the process of meaning-making—including the body of the reader. This dynamic comes into sharp relief when considered in conjunction with contemporary theories (e.g., those of Karen Barad, Donna Haraway, and Rebecca Schneider) of performance that illuminate the role of bodies in conceptual activity. With a performative approach, the reader can embrace their entanglement in the text and participate in the ongoing (re)configuration of meaning—two features that are unique to aesthetic engagement with Kleist's writing.

Music and Sufisme (Sufism Values in Ebiet G. Ade’s Selected Songs )

There are many ways for humans to approach God. Religion is one of them. In religion, there is a teaching called Sufism. Sufism is a legacy of classical Islamic treasures that still exist today. This is because Sufism can provide a way for humans to know God better and be closer to Him. In the Sufi tradition, music is one of the media to feel closer to God, because music can carry the human soul into the recesses of the heart. This paper aims to reveal the content of Sufism values ​​in Ebiet G. Ade's songs. This research is a qualitative research with a hermeneutic interpretation approach. This research found that in Ebiet G. Ada's song, there are a number of lyrics that can bring listeners closer to their God.

Building a food sovereign society through indigenous forest establishment policy

The development of multicomplex food sovereignty necessitates a multisectoral approach, which requires cross-sectoral coordination on the part of the government as the policymaker in the food sector in order to build effective food security at the national level in Indonesia. The goal of this research is to encourage the Indonesian government to build a local food system through empowering local farmers especially indigenous peoples after the establishment of customary forests. The research is doctrinal legal research with a statutory approach using the hermeneutic interpretation method. The results showed that the participation of regional food agencies remains minimal in reality. This institutional crisis within the government’s food sovereignty agencies, coupled with a lack of political commitment and political will, has implications for the failure of food security programs in Indonesia. In order to achieve food sovereignty in Indonesia, Constitutional Court Decision No. 25/PUU-X/2012 becomes the primary basis for strengthening the rights of indigenous communities over indigenous forest ownership. Food sovereignty can only be reached by mastering green technology that fits the needs of indigenous peoples and is based on their traditional ways of doing things so that a follow-up policy that favors indigenous peoples is needed.

Social enterprise development in a disadvantaged community

AbstractThis paper presents a nearly ten-year-long process of covering the history of social enterprise development in a small village in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County, Hungary. The paper covers the hermeneutical interpretation of the process, the role and relationship between the community and the social enterprise developer, the process of development work, and how university education complements this process. The case study provides insights into the theory of community planning, the methodology of social-enterprise development and the issue of empowerment.

Theoretical Analysis of the Social Entrepreneur’s Mode of Being

The purpose is to analyse the Social Entrepreneurs’ Mode of Being Theory, based on the literature concerned with the theories that underpin the ‘social entrepreneurship’ and at research, where its contrast the entrepreneur’s practice and theory. The findings show the articulation of the theories of social entrepreneur coupled with the hermeneutical interpretation of the philosophical dimensions, configured the mode of being based on the analysis of existential situations. The philosophical foundations of Management and hermeneutic phenomenology, was integrated to configure the mode of being of the social entrepreneur, establishing hypothesis and principles that underpin a Theory of the Way of Being to development.

Toward an Inclusive Theology: Muhammad Syahrur's Hermeneutical Interpretation of Religious Inclusivism based on Al-Quran

Many experts have authored studies on Islamic theology to understand religion in the modern world. The research on religious inclusivism is essential for the literature since many researchers continuously contribute to it. This work analyzes Muhammad Syahrur's Hermeneutical interpretation of religious inclusivism based on the Al-Quran. This research is library research using a qualitative-descriptive approach to explore the views, ideas, concepts, and theories given by Muhammad Syahrur linked to inclusive theology. This research claims that religious inclusivism is highly necessary to create and expand as human interaction is becoming intensive in the current digital era. In this regard, Syahrur proposes a solution to establish religious inclusivism by referring to the content of the verses of the Quran as a moral foundation and life advice that contains verses that are always under the situations of the times and locations. This study offers theoretical implications to improve the literature based on religious inclusivism.

The Art of Andrei Denisov’s Sermons: Rhetorical Strategies and Techniques

This article studies the genre characteristics of Andrei Denisov’s sermon; he was the most prominent leader of the second wave of Russian Old Belief, a writer, and a polemicist. The author refers to previously unknown texts by Andrei Denisov that were published by the author of this article earlier and to rhetorical manuscripts. The author implements the methodology of source studies and textology. The problematic context of this research is determined by Vyg Baroque as an essential part of Moscow Baroque. The hermeneutic approach underlying this study provides the interpretation of the writings of Andrei Denisov in the context of Vyg literary culture with a strong rhetorical accent. The article focuses on the main work created in the Vyg community, i. e. the Rhetoric Code, and the rhetorical studies of the Baroque poet and philosopher Andrei Belobotsky, in which Andrei Denisov showed great interest. The rhetorical thought of this period dictated the genre model of the sermon, the structure, and the style of the texts. The Baroque interpretation of hermeneutics influenced the semantics of the sermon, which was dominated by semantic duality and “allegorical meaning”. It manifests itself in the structure-forming role of biblical quotations (“themes”) and in the abundance of metaphors, symbols, and allegories. The article reveals metaphors that shaped the central eschatological myth based on the opposition of the hostile outdoor world, desecrated by the Antichrist, and the Vyg Pustyn as a space of spiritual sanctuary. Sermons created by Andrei Denisov reflect the typical Baroque concept of vanitas vanitatum. Their author was interested in the ontological nature of time and anthropological problems that became relevant during the Baroque period. The article also examines the communicative model of preaching discourse determined by the prophetic image of the author, who constructed it through biblical quotations. The article explains the rhythmic organisation of sermons designed for listening. Based on the analysis of the rhetorical techniques used by Andrei Denisov, it concludes that the author was eager to create a powerful sermon that would influence the establishment of the foundations of the faith and spiritual formation of Old Believers. The article also sheds light on the reception of the pan-European Baroque style in the literature of the Old Believers of the early eighteenth century. The heart of Vyg Baroque was functional didacticism, which served the main goal of preaching, i. e. asserting the religious and moral values that underlay the Vyg utopian project.

Analysis of Hedonic Behavior Portrayed in Shania Twain’s Selected Song Lyric

This research aims to describe the hedonism portrayed in Shania Twain’s song. Moreover, it also aims at describing the negative effect of hedonism on young people’s futures. The objective of this study is to analyze the hedonic behavior expressed in the song lyrics and also to describe the negative impact of hedonism, especially for the younger generation, as reflected in the song. "Ka-Ching!" is chosen as the song as it has many hedonistic behaviors, and it is taken as the main research data sung by Shania Twain. Hermeneutic Interpretation theory and Sociology of Literature theory are used. Descriptive qualitative is chosen as a research method. Based on the research, the result shows the types of hedonism expressed in Ka-Ching song lyrics consist of: The results of this research are that (1) the hedonistic issues portrayed in the song lyrics cover aesthetic and egoistic hedonism. These two types dominate the two song lyrics belonging to Shania Twain. The other result is that the ways to anticipate hedonism in life include being wise, being grateful, being simpler in life, and being closer to God.

Foreign Experience of Graffiti Commercialisation: from Objection to Cooperation

The purpose of the work is to comprehend graffiti commercialisation process in the European countries and the USA, determine the peculiarities of interaction between graffiti artists, the advertising industry and private companies. The methodology of the research stipulates the use of axiologic, semiotic, comparative analysis, hermeneutic interpretation of the basics of interdisciplinary, namely cultorologic and artistic, approaches. The stated methodological set of tools allows clarifying the peculiarities of graffiti inclusion into the commercial field and the attitude of graffiti artists to the defined phenomenon. The scientific novelty of the work consists in the discovery of the dynamics of graffiti inclusion into the commercial dimension of art, classification of the behavioural patterns in the writers’ attitude to their art monetisation. Conclusions. Graffiti overcame the barrier of hostility with the society and identification with the rebel demonstration of marginalised groups and acquired the characteristics of legitimised form of art in the European countries and the USA, paradoxically holding down therewith romanticised criminal identity that has made it a commercially demanded artistic object. The main behavioural patterns in the writers’ attitude to graffiti commercialisation are negative, integrative, and neutral, the correspondence to which is determined by the degree of interaction with business representatives and authority.

Geomythology as a Geotourism Attraction, Case Study: The Sangkuriang Legend in The Bandung Highland and Its’ Surrounding Areas Based on Geological to Hermeneutics Interpretation

The Bandung Highlands and its surrounding areas (BHLs) are rich in important geodiversity and geoheritage sites because of its values. They are of knowledge value, educational value, environmental value, cultural value, economic value, and others. An important one is the value of tradition in the form of legend, in this case the Sangkuriang in the Sunda community - the majority of the population is in BHLs - even in the archipelago. All of them have made the BHLs area an important geotourism destination in West Java. Meanwhile, the development of a new sub-discipline called "geomythology" provides an opportunity to make the Sangkuriang legend important. In this paper, a study is conducted on the Sangkuring legend as a form of geomythology that is popular among the BHLs people, even throughout the West Java province. Aspects of geomythology as a branch of science in the Sangkuriang legend are dissected and related to the events of the formation of BHLs and some of the mountains that surround it, ancient Bandung Lake, and important geological outcrops in it. The results of the study found that the names and sequences of events in the Sangkuriang legend matched with the geographical names and geological history of the formation of BHLs and their environment. People often associate various natural phenomena in BHLs with these legends. This is seen from the point of view of public education in geotourism is very important. Furthermore, the legend has also been interpreted with and by hermeneutic approach where the results enrich the narrative of interpretation in geotourism (geo-interpretation) in BHLs.

Participating in the Illness Journey: Meanings of Being a Close Relative to an Older Person Recovering from Hip Fracture-A Phenomenological Hermeneutical Study.

When an older person suffers an acute event, such as a hip fracture, it influences the whole family. Research shows that while close relatives want to be a part of the older person's life during recovery it is associated with a high perceived level of stress and burden. To provide in-depth knowledge of close relatives' experiences in this situation, the aim of this study was to elucidate meanings of being a close relative to an older person recovering from hip fracture surgery.This study has a qualitative descriptive phenomenological hermeneutical design. Narrative interviews were conducted with ten close relatives. Analysis was conducted using phenomenological hermeneutical interpretation which provided a deeper understanding of the close relatives' lived experiences of their older person's recovery from hip fracture surgery. The structural analysis revealed two themes; "Participating in the illness journey", which was constructed of the subthemes of facing the unimaginable yet expected, encountering healthcare personnel, and noticing recovery and "Putting oneself aside", which was constructed of the subthemes of placing daily life on hold, giving support, and feeling concern and fear.

Mutation of Dystopian Identity in the Age of Posthumanism: Literary Speculations

Dystopia while deconstructing utopian ideas generates a special type of identity as a consequence of a deviation from anthropocentric principles, crises of national and cultural worldviews, and changes in manifestations of social shifting in the posthumanist world. The article has focused on four symptomatic dystopian texts – George Orwell’s Nineteen Forty-Eight, Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, Ahmed K. Towfik’s Utopia, and Salman Rushdie’s Quichotte – to explicate the dichotomous nature of the opposition of identity vs society in the posthumanist transformations. Those conditions are considered a cause of the mutation of dystopian identity that troubles its anthropological bases and modes of existence. To reconstruct the posthumanist context and its influence on the dystopian identities in the selected novels, this study has exploited a mixture of the following methods: intertextual, cultural, and genre ones; phenomenological approach; hermeneutic interpretation; conceptualisation, etc. The novelty of the study emanates from the very attempt to interpret the writers’ names of the AGEs which are represented in the books as a background of storytelling and a lens through which the posthumanist space is transformed from a dystopian perspective.

Photo-elicited conversations about meetings with a therapy dog as a tool for communication in dementia care: An observational study.

It is well-known that people with dementia living in residential care facilities spend most of their time not engaged in meaningful activities. Being involved in activities can improve their quality of life. Animal-assisted therapy is an activity that can evoke engagement and joy. Another way to create engagement and promote communication between people with dementia and caregivers is to use photos. In this observational study, the researchers combined animal-assisted therapy and photobooks in order to explore whether photos of people with dementia who were engaged in animal-assisted therapy could be used as a tool for communication in dementia care. Ten persons (4 men and 6 women; aged 72-92) with dementia were video recorded during photo-elicited conversations with a dog handler/assistant nurse. The recordings were conducted in two residential care facilities in Sweden during 2017-2018. Each participant was video recorded 2-4 times. The recordings were analysed using The Observed Emotion Rating Scale and The Observational Measurement of Engagement-OME Modified. In addition, the video recordings were interpreted from a hermeneutic perspective. The findings showed that the most frequently observed effects were pleasure and general alertness, and the participants were observed to be attentive most of the time. The most common attitude during the conversations was 'somewhat positive'. The hermeneutic interpretations were grouped into four themes: Conveys a structure for the conversation with an inherent beginning and ending; An opportunity to recognise oneself and recall a sense of belonging; Awakens emotions and creates fellowship and Entails confirmation and revitalises their identity. Photobooks can be used by caregivers as a tool for meaningful and joyful communication with people with dementia, even those with severe dementia.

Particular Characteristics of Body Identification Practices in Social Networks: National Observation

The purpose of the work is to determine the peculiarities of body identification practices in social networks based on the national experience. The research methodology is based on the application of axiological, comparative analysis, hermeneutic interpretation, and structural and functional methods. The stated methodological instruments allow identifying the influence of consumption culture on the nature and specifics of representation of identification practices in social networks. The scientific novelty lies in theoretical analysis, firstly, of the morphosis of body identification practices in social networks, secondly, of the body deviations in the context of contraposition Me/Other, and thirdly, of up-to-date trends of body practices construction based on acceptance of the own body not depending on any characteristics, peculiarities, beauty canons propagated by the pop culture. Conclusions. The dynamics of changes in body identification practices in social networks are related to the globalization processes, constant acceleration of the “pop culture pulse”, commercialization of values, and society's escape to a virtual world. The body broadcasting on social networks is influenced by the culture of consumption, stereotypes, images, and standards popularized by the mass media. The alternative way of body identification practices is the refusal from the body canons propagated by the pop culture and focus on the inner world of the personality.

Creative personality in the dimensions of the phenomenon of national and cultural memory

The purpose of the study is to substantiate the theoretical foundations of cultural understanding of the problem of creative personality as a creator, bearer, and representative of national and cultural memory. The research methodology is based on the application of the method of phenomenological analysis to reveal the essence of the phenomenon of memory, penetration into the implicit layers of value-semantic semantics of the content of the concepts "communicative memory", "cultural memory"; the method of hermeneutic interpretation is used to understand the phenomenon of "national-cultural memory"; method of semiotic analysis - when addressing the structures of consciousness that generate the value-content continuum of culture; the method of intentional analysis was used in the reconstruction of semantic intentions of the phenomenon of a creative personality. The scientific novelty of the article is that for the first time a theoretical concept was proposed, which allows considering the problem of cultural memory in terms not only of the collective but also of the individual dimension, namely - through the prism of the phenomenon of the creative personality. In this regard, it is substantiated that the methodological basis for the study of creative personality can be: the anthropocentric approach, personalized approach, as well as the method of "representative figures" and the biographical method. The author's clarification of the concept of "national-cultural memory" is offered. Conclusions. The problem of national and cultural memory is theoretically significant for modern cultural science and Ukrainian society in general. The concept of "national-cultural memory" in the dimensions of the phenomenon of creative personality can be interpreted as a sign-symbolic formation that accumulates significant values for national culture, ideals, norms and other cultural characteristics, can be created, stored and transmitted by creative personality texts that acquire the meaning of "places of memory", as well as works of art, in which in a conceptualized artistic form embodied and passed on to the next generation of symbolic codes and universal meanings as a spiritual heritage of the historically formed community of people.

The Vulnerability-Stress-Model-Holding Up the Construct of the Faulty Individual in the Light of Challenges to the Medical Model of Mental Distress.

In the late 1970s, the course seemed to be set for a reconciliation of the controversy around the somatic vs. the social nature of mental distress. The biopsychosocial model and the vulnerability-stress-model were influential agents in this move, but a medicalized somatic view on mental distress persisted nonetheless. The reasons for this persistence are complex, and naturally include questions of structural power. However, the adherence to a certain fundamental framing of a problem may continue to be transmitted not only out of conviction, but also unwittingly. The vulnerability-stress-model allowed those who used it to effectively stick to the implications of a medicalized somatic view of the faulty individual who falls ill, while also allowing them to believe they integrated the social dimensions of the problem. A close reading and hermeneutical interpretation of the text by Zubin and Spring (1977) and an analysis of its use in psychoeducation serve as a case study in this respect. The vulnerability-stress-model (simply called “vulnerability model” by Zubin and Spring; more often “stress-vulnerability model” by English speaking recipients, and “vulnerability-stress-model” by German authors) seems to have been a success story: since its publication by Zubin and Spring (1977), it has been the point of reference for numerous scholarly and popular (“psychoeducational”) adaptations. It was soon extended from the diagnosis of schizophrenia to various psychiatric diagnoses, understanding mental distress as the result of a trait/state-interaction in the shape of “deviant coping patterns” (Zubin and Spring, p. 112). Recipients appraised the integration of environmental and dispositional factors, some of them opposing the supposed originally integrative intention of the VSM to reduced applications of it (Schmidt, 2012). However, it can be argued that this integration is a matter of rhetorics rather than argumentative essence. Their argument which significantly depends on the use of metaphors, as well as their referencing amounts to a confirmation of a medicalized view on mental distress and a dismissal of the role played by societal factors. Applied to psychoeducation, this paradoxical combination reinforced a view of the persons in question as individually vulnerable, rather than socially wounded. The consequences in terms of what appears as remedy are significant and contribute to turning individual difference into disability.
