Agrarian transformations in British India: A case study of colonial Punjab

ABSTRACT The agrarian transformation in Punjab under British rule had significant implications for understanding the fundamental principles behind these agricultural developments. The British government aimed to transform agricultural practices in Punjab for strategic, military, geostrategic, and geopolitical reasons. The integration of railways, highways, telecommunications, farming techniques, and canal settlements transformed the arid terrain into a prosperous region in British India. However, the transformation significantly impacted the local residents by advancing the British government's agenda. Against this background, the major focus of this paper is to analyze the agricultural transformation during British rule regarding the complex interactions between social, cultural, and political factors that shaped the region's history.

The Rise of Quantum Information and Communication Technologies

Today, we are already using several-component devices and systems based on the technologies developed during the first quantum revolution. Examples include microchips for servers, laptops and smartphones, medical imaging devices, LED, lasers, etc. Now, a second quantum revolution is progressing fast, exploiting technological advances for the ability to engineer and manipulate other quantum phenomena such as superposition, entanglement and measurement. As a matter of fact, there is an impressive increase in research and development activities, innovation, public and private investments in a new wave of quantum services and applications. In this scenario, quantum information and communication technologies (QICTs) can be defined as a set of technological components, devices, systems and methods for elaborating, storing and transmitting/sharing quantum information. This paper addresses the challenges and opportunities enabling the rise of QICTs. In order to provide a concrete example, the paper describes an overview of the European project EQUO (European Quantum ecOsystems) dealing with ongoing innovation activities in the QICT avenue; in fact, EQUO aims at developing and demonstrating the feasibility of QKD (quantum key distribution) networks and their related integration in current telecommunications infrastructures towards the quantum internet.

Application of Machine Learning in Detecting Fraud in Telecommunication-Based Financial Transactions

However, this convergence has also led to a rise in fraudulent activities, posing substantial risks to both service providers and users. The application of machine learning (ML) in detecting fraud within telecommunication-based financial transactions offers a promising solution to these challenges. This abstract explores the potential of ML techniques to enhance the detection and prevention of fraud in this domain. Machine learning algorithms, particularly those specializing in anomaly detection, pattern recognition, and predictive modeling, are well-suited to identifying fraudulent activities in real-time. These algorithms can analyze vast amounts of transaction data to detect irregularities that may indicate fraud, such as unusual transaction patterns, deviations from normal behavior, and other red flags that traditional rule-based systems might overlook. By continuously learning from new data, ML models can adapt to emerging fraud tactics, making them highly effective in a rapidly evolving threat landscape. Furthermore, the integration of ML with big data analytics allows for the processing and analysis of large-scale transactional data, enhancing the accuracy and speed of fraud detection. Techniques such as supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning are particularly effective in categorizing transaction types and identifying potential frauds with minimal human intervention. The use of ML also enables the automation of fraud detection processes, reducing operational costs and increasing the efficiency of fraud management systems. This abstract highlights the critical role of machine learning in enhancing the security of telecommunication-based financial transactions. The ability of ML to detect and prevent fraud in real-time not only mitigates risks but also improves trust and reliability in telecommunication financial services. As fraudsters continue to develop sophisticated methods, the ongoing refinement of ML algorithms will be essential in maintaining robust defenses against financial fraud in the telecommunication sector. Frequency of Utilization of ICT Tools by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Scientists of Rajasthan State, India

Information communication technology (ICT) is a multidimensional term for information technology (IT) that addresses the role of integrated communication and the integration of telecommunications (telephone lines and wireless signals) and computers as well as essential enterprise software, middleware, storage, communication which enable users to access, store, transmit and manipulate information. ICT’s is emerging as an important tool for the progress of society. The new technology has significantly improved lifestyle and efficiency levels in all sectors of the economy. This enables the utility of information & communication technology to overcome physical distances and time gaps in communication. Rapid improvements in information technology have increased their cost and space requirements, speed and storage capacity in a short span of time with traditional communication materials such as posters, charts, leaflets, folders, bulletins, audio tapes, transparency, photographs, prepared slides, videotape etc. In simple terms, ICT is a set of techniques evolved to manage information and move it from one place to another. It has been observed that in this traditional system used to take a lot of time to convey the information given to the farmers and the information was not received correctly. The rapid development of information technology has given a new look to communication systems. Now connecting two computers across the country has become an easy task. Separate ICT projects have been initiated by government, NGO’s and private companies. As a result, villages in many parts of the country have been connected through a wired network to eliminate the distance between rural and urban people. Krishi Vigyan Kendra are established by Indian Council Of Agricultural Research (ICAR) all over the country as an institutional innovation for application of agricultural science and technology on the farmer’s field with the help of multidisciplinary team i.e. Senior Scientists and Subject Matter Specialists. Who give skill or knowledge oriented training to farmers in multidisciplinary areas like Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Home Science Agriculture Extension, Agronomy, Plant Protection Entomology/Pathology and Agriculture Engineer. The result of the study depict that the frequency of utilization of ICT tools by scientists for the farmers the tool which is utilized maximum by the KVK scientist is Smart phone, Internet and WhatsApp with (x = 5.00) and Rank-I and the minimum utilized by scientists Agri Guru, Mahadhan App, Agro medix agriculture app, Farm Key were not very frequently used ICT tools with (x= 0.21, 0.17., 0.7,.0.00). Possibilities and challenges in digital personal identification using teledentistry based on integration of telecommunication and dental information: a narrative review.

Personal identification using dental evidence is decisive in the case of unidentified bodies because dental features, including decayed, missing and filled teeth, are unique to every individual. This review explored the possibilities and problems associated with personal identification through digital methods by the integration of telecommunications and dentistry, also known as teledentistry. Establishment of a global, objective personal identification method using dental evidence through teledentistry is desirable. However, the review reports that there are various problems that need to be resolved first, in aspects such as changes in dentition over time, technology, individual privacy and ethics. It is suggested that solving such problems and constructing a worldwide dental database for personal identification from dental images, using teledentistry, as part of social services, is a new challenge for researchers in forensic odontology and dentistry.

IMPACT OF ICT ON DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNICATION SKILLS OF PROSPECTIEVE TEACHERS

ICT is an extensional term for Information technology that stresses the role of unified communication and integration of telecommunications with computers as well as necessary software and hardware tools. Soft Skills are characteristic traits and interpersonal skills that identifies a person’s relationship with others. Certain examples of Soft Skills are Communication, Instructions, Mentoring etc. According to M. Bridget Duffy “Rather than making technology the center piece of care, it’s time to start using it to restore human connections and return people to purpose. The interplay between humans and technology goes to the heart of larger issues, in which soft skills play a key role. The most striking and latest innovations in the field of education is the integration of ICT in education. It has expanded the range of resource available for any subject- specific learning. Teachers play a pivotal role in developing the future generation of students. Therefore, they have to be properly guided so that they could enhance their competences. Proper educational training is the key element to move towards sustainability. This paper emphasizes on the importance and development of Soft Skills with the help of ICT, in the prospective teachers. So, that they can achieve professional competence. This study is based on quantitative research approach. The population of the study was prospective teachers of Patna. 100 samples from 4 different colleges of Patna were selected randomly. Self constructed and validated tools were used for data collection. Findings of the study shows that that there is significant difference in mean scores of communication skills on the basis of gender and their educational qualification while there is no significant difference in mean scores of communication skills on the basis of their marital status of prospective teachers. Significant relationship was found in the score of ICT and Communication skills of prospective teachers.

Using telematics in cars enables transmission of data communications between the car and other systems or devices. This opens up a wide range of possibilities, including the prospect of conducting remote diagnostics based on real-time access to the vehicle. Yet, as with any new technology, alongside its potential benefits, the use of automotive telematics could also have potential downsides. This Article explores the significant negative impact that the growing reliance on telematics systems could have on competition in the market for repair services. Our analysis highlights two main areas where the use of telematics for vehicle diagnostics may pose a threat to competition and consumer choice. First, we focus on the manner by which manufacturers communicate with their customers via the telematics system. Due to the special relationship between car manufacturers and their consumers, which is often based on trust and loyalty, alongside the “captive audience” status of drivers, we argue that communications emanating from the car’s telematics system could be deceptive. Second, we explore the negative impact that the shift away from on-board diagnostics to telematics could have on independent repair shops’ access to diagnostic information. Fortunately, the law can adapt to keep pace with these new technological and commercial developments. This Article articulates the combined multi-prong, multi-agency policy approach needed to maintain an effective right to repair cars in the new age of telematics. Among other things, our analysis supports an update of state consumer protection legislation and an increased policing by the Federal Trade Commission of practices employed by car manufacturers. In addition, we highlight the need to consider certain amendments to intellectual property laws that effectively aid car manufacturers in maintaining exclusive control over their telematics systems and diagnostic data.

The Combining of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motives for Employing OTT Media and Comprehending the Audience’s Gratification in Malaysia

This article provides a conceptual framework for inspiring the audience towards the growing demands for Over-The-Top (OTT) media, as well as the evaluation of user satisfaction in Malaysia’s services. The advance of technology and innovation has made possible the integration of telecommunications and broadcast networks, and, in doing so, has blurred the borders of the telecommunications and broadcasting industry. In this analysis, the motivation of the viewer as an entire indivisible mechanism to achieve media pleasure, both intrinsic and extrinsic elements, and, ultimately, formulate a conceptual framework, are described. Nonetheless, researchers have struggled in balancing intrinsic and extrinsic motivations, especially in recognising the interdependency between the origins of media consumer desires and incorporating them in conjunction with media and connectivity theories, which were typically too expansive to be implemented in convergence digital media. Therefore, this paper discusses the possibilities for combining intrinsic motivations with extrinsic ones. The interconnected conceptual framework provides a comprehensive view of the analyses and intentions of the engaged audiences in Malaysia for OTT media. This study also suggests further research that would include different measures and a larger sample as well as other areas, which could result in better understanding of the relationship between the variables. Role of Information and Communication Technology in Economic Development of India

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) stresses the role of unified communication and integration of telecommunications, intelligent building management systems and audio-visual systems in modern information technology. In the information age, using information is a prime issue. ICT includes of all technical means that are used to handle information and aid communication. It includes computer and network hardware, middleware and necessary software. Time accessibility of relevant information is vital for economic development of any country. The improvement of economic activity can be brought by improving capacity in terms of enhancing access to information, while also the technical nature of economic activities required that the knowledge of users are constantly updated which can be achieved through their enhanced information seeking behavior by the use of ICTs. Moreover, use of ICTs lead to innovation which further lead to the enhancement of economic growth and human resource development. Thus, the present paper highlights the role of information technology on economic development of the country as a whole. A period of fifteen years is considered for the study Information and Communication Technology index and Economic Development index has been constructed on the basis of Principal Component Analysis. A simple linear regression has also been conducted to examine the impact of ICT on Economic Development in India. Stationarity of the data set are also checked with the help of appropriate unit root testing technique such as Augmented-Dickey Fuller test. The result shows that there has been considerable impact of ICT on Economic Development in India. Policy suggestions are also given on the basis of the findings of the study.

The possible options for the integration of telecommunications and electrical systems of mining enterprises are considered. Based on an analysis of the current state and prospects for the development of telecommunications systems, various technical solutions are proposed for sharing the power supply networks available in mines and underground structures in order to solve the problems of telecommunication, automate process control and ensure the safety of operations. The analysis of the possibilities of applying the PLC technology in underground structures and mines for solving specific telecommunication problems has been carried out, and examples of their possible technical and hardware implementation are given.

Functional stakes and EU regulatory governance: temporal patterns of regulatory integration in energy and telecommunications

One of the most fiercely debated questions about EU regulatory governance is the respective role played by functional and political factors in regulatory integration. This article contributes to this debate by focussing on the functional factor. Based on a refined conceptualisation of functional stakes, it finds that they vary across sectors, evolve over time, and that these variations are reflected in the degree of regulatory integration observed. When member states perceive regulatory integration as a solution to one of their most pressing problems of the moment, they value – and sometimes even actively push for – the delegation of regulatory powers to the EU. This argument is subject to a credibility probe based on two within-sector analyses of temporal patterns of regulatory integration in energy and telecommunications. The empirical analysis lends support to the conditioning role of the functional factor in the design of EU regulatory governance.

The bumpy road towards network convergence in China: The case of over-the-top streaming services

The decoupling of content and distribution platform has changed television irrevocably. Potential opportunities promised by the integration of telecommunications, broadcast and Internet networks means television has become a strategic highland for relevant stakeholders including industry players and state regulators. In China, network convergence has been on the state agenda since the turn of the century, but has remained stubbornly hard to move forward. This article starts with a brief overview of the state policy development in relation to the three-network convergence. It then zooms in onto the case of over-the-top streaming as a microcosm of the convergence project by examining two critical moments in its development trajectory, highlighting a short-lived early experiment in 2005 and a more recent wave of solutions since 2010. It offers a contextualised analysis of market evolution and state regulatory approaches in this space as power negotiations play out in multiple dimensions including those between the state and market, between the central and local, and between sectorial interests. By doing so, this article reveals contestations, contradictions and challenges in the state-engineered convergence project.

Television drama series and transmedia storytelling in an era of convergence

Abstract In the past three decades television has undergone a unique transformation. Digitalization and the integration of traditional media and telecommunication have also allowed films and television programmes to be marketed and used on other technical platforms besides conventional cinema and television. Individual films and television programmes must therefore both be considered in the context of multimedia offerings. Associated social media activities and websites (including webisodes or games) are more and more important for the production and distribution of television drama series. In an era of media convergence single media outlets like television converge with online media. Transmedia storytelling where a story is told on as many platforms as possible to attract audiences is mainly related to television drama series. Based on the analysis of several transmedia outlets of television drama series the article will show how production companies, networks and other TV channels attempt to involve viewers via transmedia storytelling in a fragmented media market with a fragmented audience in creating a 360-degree experience.

Telecommunication integration in e‐healthcare: technologies, applications and challenges

AbstractThe technological advancements in sensing, signal processing, computing and communication have had great influence in different aspect of our lives. One of the fields that benefit from these technologies is health care. Trustworthiness of sensors, electronic devices, networks and wireless communications have matured enough to replace traditional legacy systems. However, there remains unexplored aspects of e‐healthcare especially considering the challenges in service provisioning, integration and resource optimization. Pervasive and continuous health monitoring is an important service, and it specifically provides the elderly and chronically ill patients with continuous and seamless health monitoring, benefiting both of them and the caretakers. In this survey article, we review and discuss different elements of e‐healthcare, introduce wireless transmission technologies that are used in e‐healthcare, present the quality of service (QoS) requirements and discuss the potential challenges as in security and privacy of data, power allocation, scheduling, meeting the QoS needs and confronting the electromagnetic interference. Construction and Practice of Integrated Innovation Training Platform Based on Converged Network

Combined with Beijing (the capital of China) private education development promotion project-triple play integrated innovation training base construction of Century College, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the method of implemetation of training platform construction based on converged network is introduced. Based on the training platform, the three network service integration of telecommunications, broadcasting and data has been developed, and the training teaching method has been explored in researching and practicing, so that the communication training environment of college and the comprehensive abilities of students are both improved, as well as the effect is remarkable.

Silicon photonic integration in telecommunications

Silicon photonics is the guiding of light in a planar arrangement of silicon-based materials to perform various functions. We focus here on the use of silicon photonics to create transmitters and receivers for fiber-optic telecommunications.
