Implementation of Contextual Learning Improves the Lighting Installation Learning Outcomes of Students of SMKN 1 Tomohon

This study is expected to improve learning outcomes. Electrical lighting installation for grade XII students using a contextual learning model during the 2022–2023 academic year. The study was conducted in two cycles, with planning, implementation, action, observation/evaluation, and reflection as components of each cycle. This study involved 30 grade XII TITL students. The collected data were analyzed through test techniques. It was analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques. The results of the study showed that the average student learning outcomes in cycle 1 in the electrical lighting installation component were 67.4% in the moderate category, which in cycle 2 increased to 80% in the high category, indicating an increase of 85.66%. Thus, the contextual learning model has been proven to improve the learning outcomes of grade XII TITL students at SMKN 1 Tomohon in the 2022–2023 academic year.

Analysis of Building Electrical Lighting System Tomohon City Regional Drink Water Company

This study aims to see whether the electrical lighting installation at the Regional Drinking Water Company (Indonesian, abbreviated as PDAM) of Tomohon City follows the General Requirements for Electrical Installations (abbreviated as PUIL) or vice versa. Using the analysis approach, direct observation was performed at the research site, and after performing the study, it was discovered that many electrical lighting installation requirements did not satisfy PUIL. Following the measurements and calculations, it was found that none of the lighting in building A met PUIL standards, while for building B, there was only 1 room whose lighting met PUIL standards. Furthermore, there were several rooms where the lights were not installed. Of course, this can affect the daily activities in the room. From the results of the study, it is inevitable that the electrical lighting installation in the PDAM building in Tomohon City must be repaired immediately and should follow the applicable PUIL.

Engaging electrical lighting installation classes: Android interactive learning media development with Adobe Animate CC

This study aims to develop android-based interactive learning media for Electrical Lighting Installation subjects by using Adobe Animate CC. The research was conducted in response to the limited variation of learning media, which has affected student engagement and motivation in technical subjects. The Research and Development (R&D) model, adapting a 3D out of 4D model (Define, Design, Develop) was referred to develop interactive media designed for vocational students. The media integrates audiovisual elements to enhance students' learning experiences and promote independent learning outside the classroom. The validation process utilized questionnaires, interviews, and observations from content experts, media experts, and students. The media was validated by experts in two stages. In the first stage, the media achieved a feasibility score of 68%, categorized as "fairly good." After revisions, the second validation showed an improvement with a feasibility score of 85.33%, categorized as "very good". The results indicate that the Android-based learning media potentially enhance the learning process of Electrical Lighting Installation subjects effectively, providing a more engaging and flexible tool for students. This innovation significantly contributes to improving the quality of technical education by offering an accessible and interactive learning resource. It also addresses the challenges of limited learning media variation and encourages independent learning, possibly serving as a model for the development of similar media in other technical subjects.

Microprocessor Control of the Electric Drive of Variable Radiation Installation and Ensuring of Operation Reliability

Introduction. The introduction of energy-saving technologies has become particularly relevant in recent years, when energy prices have been constantly increasing. This is particularly important for greenhouse farms, where the main condition for growing plants indoors is the creation of artificial climatic conditions: temperature, humidity, and lighting.Problem Statement. Given the light and the dark stages of photosynthesis, it becomes possible to use a variable light field in the plant-growing photoculture, which is created by light installations with variable radiation. The development of an energy-saving electric drive and automated control systems for the parameters of artificial climatic conditions when growing plants indoors results in reducing energy consumption and increasing the reliability of the technological process in greenhouses of agro-industrial complex.Purpose. Implementation of energy-saving variable illumination irradiating systems with an automated control system for greenhouse farms.Materials and Methods. A lighting installation with rotation of the irradiator in the vertical and horizontal planes with a discrete electric drive and microprocessor control has been used.Results. The current state of variable irradiating systems with energy-saving radiation sources has been analyzed. The use of a discrete electric drive with an automated control system has been proposed. The installation with a DNAT-400 radiation source and a ZHO-01 reflector enables irradiating an area of up to 100 m2. The maximum exposure to photosynthetically active radiation is 30 W/m2, and the irradiation irregularity does not exceed 20%. At the same time, electricity savings reach about 10 thousand kWh per season. The yield and quality of products remain unchanged.Conclusions. The results of the research have confirmed the feasibility of practical implementation of variable irradiation system for energy efficiency of greenhouse operations.

Electron-Accelerator-Induced Fast Electron Transfer for Enhancing Electrochemiluminescence of Gold Nanoclusters and Its Bioanalysis Application: A Novel Avenue for Developing High-Efficient Emitters.

Herein, the gold nanoclusters/CaFe2O4 nanospheres (Au NCs/CaFe2O4) heterostructure as a novel electrochemiluminescence (ECL) emitter was developed. Excitingly, Au NCs/CaFe2O4 displayed highly efficient and greatly stable ECL based on the newly defined electron-accelerator p-type semiconductor CaFe2O4 NS-induced fast electron transfer; it solved one key obstacle of metal NC-based ECL emitters: sluggish through-covalent bond electron transport kinetics-caused inferior ECL performance. Specifically, on account of the energy level matching between emitter Au NCs and electron-accelerator CaFe2O4 NSs, the valence band (VB) of the electron-accelerator could provide abundant holes for rapidly transporting the electrogenerated electron from the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) of Au NCs to the electrode, generating massive excited species of Au NCs for strong ECL emission. Notably, Au NCs/CaFe2O4 emerged 5.4-fold higher ECL efficiency with 3.5-fold higher electrochemical oxidation current in comparison with pure Au NCs, exhibiting great prospects in extensive lighting installations, ultrasensitive biosensing, and high-resolution ECL imagery. As applications, an ECL bioassay platform was constructed with Au NCs/CaFe2O4 as an emitter and U-like structure-fueled catalytic hairpin assembly (U-CHA) as a signal amplifier for fast and trace analysis of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) with the detection limit (LOD) down to 2.45 fg/mL, which was 3 orders of magnitude higher than that of the previous ECL biosensors with much better stability. This study developed an entirely new avenue for enlarging the ECL performance of metal NCs, and it is a very attractive orientation for directing the reasonable design of prominent metal NC-based ECL emitters and broadening the practical application of metal NCs.

The luminous flux field as a basic concept for interior lighting design

It is proposed that the process of interior lighting design be defined as creating a three-dimensional luminous flux field within the volume of an enclosed indoor space. This luminous flux field can be divided into two components, an indirect flux field and a direct flux field, and making this separation presents a remarkable insight into the lighting design process. The space, its contents and its occupants are revealed by the indirect flux field; the indirect flux field is generated by the direct flux field; and the direct flux field, which may be derived from the indirect flux field by calculation, specifies the performance of the lighting installation. This enables a practitioner to describe lighting design objectives in terms of peoples’ subjective responses to their lit appearance, and, where these objectives can be specified in quantitative terms, to define aspects of the indirect flux field that would achieve them. The direct flux field that would optimally generate this indirect flux field is determined by a calculation procedure, and this provides a photometric performance specification for the lighting installation. For the sake of simplicity, this paper considers only electric lighting, but opportunities for extending the procedure to include daylight and other lighting design objectives are discussed.

Exploratory study to define new observation geometries for road lighting design

This paper focuses on the visibility of road users in urban environment. Firstly, a virtual reality experiment was carried out to determine where road users look on the road surface when travelling in city. The data collected were used to deduce observation angles for each type of road user. Measurements on an experimental site and simulations were carried out with these new observation angles. These were used to assess the impact of changing the observation geometry on the quality criteria of a lighting installation and on the visibility criterion. The results show that increasing the observation angle leads to a reduction in the average luminance but that, despite this, visibility is not affected. This led us to propose adaptations to the current recommendations: using a mobile observer for an observation angle greater than 1° and downgrading by one class when dimensioning a lighting installation in the city in the standard way, while taking into account the visual needs in an urban environment.

The Menaming Dam is located in Menaming Village, about 3 km away from residential areas, so it is far from the reach of electricity service providers. From the dam, the water is distributed through irrigation canals to the rice fields and fishery and contains hydraulic power, then could be utilized for electricity generation. The location of the dam has attractive views so that it becomes tourism, but there is no electricity available, causing its development to be hindered. Utilization of water resources in irrigation can be done by developing a waterwheel as driving for electricity generators. The power plant with an undershot waterwheel is very suitable to be developed because it is easy to manufacture and maintain. Besides that, the structure and shape can add to the beauty and attractiveness of visitors to tourist sites. Now a hydroelectric power plant has been installed with a total power of about 70 W. Electricity is transmitted using cables through the power poles and an LED light is installed on each of them. Furthermore, in one of the stalls in the tourist location, the installation of lights and sockets for charging mobile phones was made. Lights were also installed in an adjacent house.

Development Of Trainer Learning Media Kit Solar Cell Public Road Lighting System in Electrical Light Installation

This research studies to develop instructors of electric lighting installation instructor media learns the feasibility of learning media for electrical installations trainers, learns the feasibility of worksheets for electric lighting installation learning media, and studies the effectiveness of learning media for electrical installations. Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation). By citing: (1) Analyzing (containing: analysis of design and needs, analysis of learning, analysis of students and obtaining difficulties there is no learning media for electrical installations), (2) Design (includes: large component trainers of electric contents, electricity, and trainer design), (3) Development (including making learning media broadcast by media experts and material experts), (4) Implementation (including conducted in class XI TL 2 SMK Negeri 2 Kota Serang starting with a pretest to find out where to find students IPL and then apply the learning media that has been developed) and (5) Evaluation (provided: done by providing a post-test to determine the effectiveness of the media that has been made). Based on the results of research that has been done, obtained data on the feasibility of instructional media with an average score of 82 categories "Very Eligible" and a learning media worksheet with an average score of 78 in the category of "Very Eligible". Both of these learning media get a value of "Very Effective" for learning with an average n-gain calculation score of 0.76.

Analisis dan Upaya Preventif Risiko Tingkat Kebisingan Pekerjaan MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Konstruksi Rumah Susun di Ibu Kota Negara

Construction work is one of the jobs that has various high risks for workers and people who are around it. These risks come from various sources, one of which is noise from various equipment and ongoing activities. One of the jobs that cause high noise in construction work is MEP (Mechanical Electrical Plumbing) work. Based on Permenaker Number 13 Year 2011, the Threshold Value (NAB) for noise that can be accepted by workers is 85 dBA for 8 hours a day. Based on the measurement of the construction of the flats, the MEP work in the form of Beam Separator Elevator Installation, Pipe Fabrication, Electrical Wiring Lighting Installation, as well as Welding and Grinding of Iron Pipe causes noise above the NAB. The highest noise comes from pipe fabrication in the form of iron pipe cutting activities using large grinding tools and bevel machines that produce noise of 107 dBA. From the Daily Noise Dose (DND) calculation, the noise generated from MEP work has a dangerous risk level for workers' hearing. Risk control efforts that can be done are preventive actions based on the K3 hierarchy in the form of administrative controls such as changing working hours or shifts and conducting safety talks before work is carried out. In addition, another preventive measure is the use of PPE such as ear plugs. Based on the calculation of the noise reduction level, the use of ear plugs has not reduced the noise level to reach the NAB, so it is recommended that workers in pipe fabrication work use ear muffs to reduce noise exposure.

Rancang Bangun Sistem Kontrol Dan Monitoring Beban 1 dan 3 Phasa Pada Panel Distribusi Berbasis Internet of Things

The distribution panel is a place to distribute and distribute electrical energy from the power panel to the load panel (consumer) for both power installations and lighting installations. The main problem with every disturbance or improvement in electricity usage is that people need to come to the area to control and monitoring the panel manually. This research focuses on the design and manufacture of control and monitoring devices at 3 and 1 phase loads, with the method using NodeMCU esp 32/8266 with pzem004t sensor as control and reading of voltage, current and frequency on the panel, which can be viewed and controlled offline at panel or online using the blynk application. The testing of the tool is carried out using a 3-phase motor, PC monitor, fan, laptop charger, and chicken lamp. By turning on the load one by one or simultaneously. From the test results, the tool can turn on and off online through the blynk application and manually using a push button. the results obtained are quite accurate with a maximum error percentage of 8.70%. However, the microcontroller between control and monitoring is used separately.

The Basic Process of Lighting as Key Factor in the Transition towards More Sustainable Urban Environments

The design of lighting installations on roads and urban infrastructure has strictly followed the regulatory requirements of each country for a long time. Based on the traffic intensity, the presence of pedestrians and the nature of activities within the area, these regulations have been used to establish the luminance or illuminance levels from or on the pavement, the minimum average uniformity, the maximum glare and the minimum energy efficiency. Accurate values of these static parameters are supposed to ensure safety, security, and efficacy, and have traditionally been considered as the main targets of lighting installations. Therefore, compliance with these regulations indicates whether an installation is legal or not. Although this philosophy is operative, the reality is different due to two main issues. First, the progressive ageing of populations, mainly in North America and Europe, the changing circumstances of traffic flow and modalities and the presence of groves or socioeconomic factors, might have a strong impact on the safety, security and sustainability of cities. Secondly, the current regulations leave out perceived safety and security issues, as well as the well-being of people; that is, how people feel about the city independently of real danger. In this research, the Basic Process of Lighting (BPL) is formulated including, for the first time, the human factors involved when people develop their activities under public lighting. Using this framework, the potential factors influencing human wellbeing and feelings are summarized after being rated by people in a survey distributed among 133 participants. The results highlight a higher perceived impact of social factors compared to physical and visual ones.

Eco-Friendly Energy Efficient Classrooms and Sustainable Campus Strategies: A Case Study on Energy Management and Carbon Footprint Reduction

This research paper presents a comprehensive study on energy management and carbon footprint reduction in an educational institutional campus. It focuses on implementing energy-efficient technologies and practices to minimize energy consumption and environmental impact. The study encompasses four cases, each addressing different aspects of energy use in a university setting, including the installation of LED lighting, programmable remote switches, and high-efficiency air conditioning systems. The methodology involves a detailed analysis of energy consumption patterns, using smart energy meters and theoretical calculations. Case I establishes a baseline energy consumption, while subsequent cases implement energy-saving measures. Case II involves replacing traditional tube lights with energy-efficient LED lights, resulting in considerable energy savings. Case III extends these savings further by integrating programmable remote switches mapped with student timetables. Finally, Case IV proposes the replacement of older air conditioning units with 25 SEER models, leading to significant reductions in energy use. The results highlight the effectiveness of these interventions. Case II achieves a 66.67% energy saving, while Case III yields up to 77.78% energy saving in lighting and 33.34% in air conditioning. In Case IV, the adoption of high-efficiency air conditioners can result in a 52% energy saving during teaching weeks. The economic benefits of these measures are substantial, with cost savings per classroom ranging from 7.65% in Case II to 53.46% in Case IV. Moreover, the environmental impact of these energy conservation techniques is substantial. The study reports reductions in carbon emissions from 14.71metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MT CO2e) in base Case I to 6.85 MT CO2e in Case IV. The overall carbon emission reductions for Cases II, III, and IV are 7.61%, 36.37%, and 53.43%, respectively. This study demonstrates the profound impact of integrated energy management strategies in reducing the carbon footprint and energy consumption in educational institutions, offering a model for sustainable and economically viable operations.

Interdisciplinary approaches between physics and art using the example of optical experiments and artistic light installations

The disciplines of physics and art are often seen as antithetical in social and educational contexts. However, in recent years, STEAM education has promoted the collaboration of art and STEM. Linking the subjects together offers a wide range of learning opportunities. For example, the design of (video) light installations can develop both artistic and physical skills. Such a teaching approach allows to address different types of interests within the same lesson. In this article, two basic ways of meaningfully combining artistic and physical topics are presented: ‘STEAM design’ and ‘STEAM explanation’. The approaches are described using the example of teaching optics at secondary school level, but in principle they can be applied to other grade levels or physical subjects.

ПІДВИЩЕННЯ ЕФЕКТИВНОСТІ СИСТЕМ ОСВІТЛЕННЯ ЖИТЛОВИХ БУДИНКІВ І ОБ’ЄКТІВ СОЦІАЛЬНО-КУЛЬТУРНОГО ПРИЗНАЧЕННЯ

The results of a study of the energy efficiency of lighting installations of residential buildings and buildings of social and cultural purpose are given, and based on a technical and economic comparison of four options of lighting systems: with incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, compact fluorescent lamps and LED lamps, a quantitative assessment of lighting costs is given. A mathematical model of specific discounted costs was developed, which made it possible to take into account changes in lighting operating conditions over time, and the presentation of research results in relative units gave them a generalized appearance. Conclusions were drawn and recommendations for their application were given. Ref. 9, fig. 2.

Scaled hillsides to decrease the energy consumption of lighting installations in road tunnels

The reduction of energy demands of the lighting installations in road tunnels, has become a matter of active research in the last years. Among the different strategies, the decrease of reflectance in the surroundings of portal gate, has been pursued by means of forestation or installation of elements with lower reflectance than concrete. However, these strategies are difficult to carry out due to remarkable problems like initial implementation, maintenance, shape of the mountain and other properties of the terrain. Furthermore, they consider only the decrease in the reflectance without controlling the directions where the light is reflected. This work proposes the introduction in the hillside around the portal of discrete surfaces with given orientation to deviate the reflected light from the visual field of drivers. The target is to ease the visual adaptation, making the visual transition smoother, and decrease the glare and luminance in the zone of the road that determines the lighting requirements inside the tunnel. The result is a scaled-like zone around the portal whose parameters are calculated, analyzed, and presented in this work.

Design of Automatic Lighting Installation Props Using Photocell and Motion Sensors

This teaching aid design approach is based on compiling learning materials that are fully necessary to achieve the desired understanding and skills. In the lighting installation subject, vocational electrical power installation techniques at SMK Negeri 2 Sinabang, there needs to be more demonstration media, which causes problems for students who find it very difficult to understand lighting installations and put them together. With this teaching aid medium, it is hoped that it can help students' understanding of installing lighting installations and improve student learning outcomes so that learning objectives are achieved. This teaching aid is designed to be a learning medium as a teacher's aids in teaching material on automatic lighting installations using photocell sensors and motion sensors in electrical power installation subjects. To determine the suitability of the props, a research instrument was made in the form of a media validation sheet, material validation, and questionnaire validation. The learning outcomes of students are known by providing several pre-test and post-test questions so that they can be used as a reference for how successful or appropriate the teaching aids are to be applied to students and lighting installation subjects. Based on the percentage results obtained from media expert validation, namely 89%, and material expert validation, namely 100% from the validator assessment, learning outcomes through the pre-test were 28% and the post-test 83%. The results obtained were based on validation showed "Very Feasible."

Exploring the Feasibility of Autonomous Lighting Systems for Pedestrian Crossings in Off-Grid Areas

A properly designed and manufactured autonomous lighting system has an impact on reducing the amount of conflicts between pedestrians and drivers. For pedestrian crossings located outside of urban areas, one of the utilized solutions is PV installations with an electrochemical energy storage bank. So, the question should be asked: is it possible to maintain proper energy and lighting parameters throughout the year? This depends on the technical parameters of the installation, insolation, operating time, and the number and power of lighting luminaires directly prescribed by formal regulations. The purpose of this article is to present a method for evaluating the performance of a lighting installation at isolated pedestrian crossings based on annual power generation data obtained from a photovoltaic installation. This article presents lighting requirements for pedestrian crossing lighting. Based on the developed five lighting scenarios and energy calculations, year-round operation was simulated. Problems and risks that may affect the availability and performance of the lighting system were introduced. Directions for further research on the application of photovoltaic installations in road infrastructure were identified.
