Factors affecting sustainable tourism development in Vietnam

With a rapid growth rate, in just a short time, the tourism industry has become a type of industry that attracts a lot of labor, contributes a high proportion to GDP, and has a great influence on the economy. To ensure sustainable tourism development, identifying influencing factors is an urgent matter today. Therefore, this article presents a number of factors affecting sustainable development in tourism activities from a personal research perspective. In Vietnam, tourism has long been of interest to the Government, creating favorable conditions for development, and considering it a key industry compared to other economic sectors of the country. From the important reality of the tourism industry, many localities across the country pay great attention to tourism development with the desire to generate large revenues from this field. However, strong tourism development in localities can lead to many consequences. Therefore, studying the relationship between factors to sustainable tourism development is necessary. The requirement for countries and economies around the world is to conduct research to be able to move towards sustainable tourism development, achieving efficiency in all three aspects: economy, society and resource and environmental protection. Therefore, sustainable tourism development is the right direction for the tourism industry in Vietnam as well as all countries in the world. The study "Factors Affecting Sustainable Tourism Development: Survey in Quang Ninh province" by Bui Thi Quyen, Nguyen Thi Mai Huong and Phuong Huu was published in the International Journal of Early Childhood Special Education Vol. 14, Iss. 1 (2022) to support the planning and development of sustainable tourism to provide high quality services, improve the competitiveness of destinations, and ensure simultaneous development of the environment and society in Quang Ninh. Currently, Vietnam is having many positive economic changes. Agriculture is considered the main economic sector, with the second largest export turnover in the world, but has not yet brought high income to the people; The industrial sector requires a large amount of scientific and technical investment capital and a long payback period; meanwhile, the tourism sector is considered a smokeless industry, does not require too much investment and has a quick return period, and is gradually becoming one of the important economic sectors of Vietnam. From there, propose some solutions to promote sustainable tourism development for localities. Keywords: Tourism, Sustainable Development.

The Impact of Trade Openness on the Industry Reality in Iraq for the Period (2004-2022)

Iraq is one of the prominent countries that used to have important industries and enjoyed consumer acceptance, competitiveness, and presence in regional and global markets. However, after 2003 and due to trade liberalization, there needed to be more in the structure of the Iraqi economy. This directly affected the reality of the Iraqi industrial sector, leading to the entry of goods and products from all over the world. With the increase in population and government expenditures, which relied on commodity imports to meet local needs, all aspects of industry in the country were eliminated. The importance of research lies in shedding light on the role of international trade (import and export) in global economies, highlighting the shortcomings in trade policy management, demonstrating the impact of trade openness on the industrial sector's contribution to economic development, and the need for realistic measures to rescue this vital sector from deterioration in Iraq. Moreover, the research problem is based on the direct negative impact of trade liberalization policy on the reality of the industrial sector in the country. Increased reliance on foreign sources to meet local economic needs is attributed to the production apparatus's deficiencies, backwardness, and stagnation, rendering it unable to meet total domestic demand. The research aims to shed light on the role of foreign trade in global economies and to clarify the shortcomings in trade policy management, as well as the extent of the impact of trade liberalization on the reality of the industrial sector in achieving economic development. The research found that the industrial sector in Iraq was negatively affected throughout the period (2004-2022) due to the compulsory trade liberalization policy, which led to the shutdown of factories and plants because of the low prices of imported goods. The state role in the housing sector in Hamburg and Havana challenges and successes of the state's claim to control in different political and planning systems

AbstractHousing supply is a controversial topic across the globe. In Europe, for example, housing provision is fundamentally characterised by capitalist market economy. However, the intensity of state intervention differs significantly in the respective European countries. Germany is certainly one of the countries in which the state traditionally intervenes considerably in the housing market and attempts to control it through various measures. In addition, the stakeholders in the housing market are very different, and the housing market is highly segmented. In Cuba, as a rather atypical example for Latin America, where the housing market is largely liberalised, the housing market is very strongly regulated by the socialist Cuban state. In this article, we address the topics of housing supply by analysing the institutional framework conditions and the different levels of intervention in the very different systems of Germany and Cuba. In doing so, we find that the objectives at the planning and political levels in these two case studies are quite similar despite the major political and social differences. It has become clear, that there is a gap between the aspiration of the political-administrative planning system and the planning expectations of the citizens in both systems. However, it is also emphasised that the state's claim to intervene in the housing market and the regulations, production and financing conditions are very different. Using Vaus’s ‘most-different-case approach’, we emphasise for the two cities of Hamburg and Havana that although considerable successes have been achieved in both systems in terms of adequate housing provision, but major challenges still exist in both cities. The analysis has also made clear how important it is to combine housing policy demands with the realities of housing industry, real estate markets and urban planning perspectives.

Feasibility and Acceptability of a Bar-Staff Bystander Intervention Training Program for Reducing Sexual Aggression.

This paper explores the challenges, opportunities, and successes encountered in implementing Safer Bars, a bystander intervention training program to prevent sexual aggression in bars. The study aims to assess the feasibility of program implementation and its acceptability among bar staff and bar owners/managers. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study assessed the feasibility of Safer Bars by documenting bar participation, reasons for declination, and the time elapsed during recruitment, offering insights into experienced challenges and successes. Acceptability was gauged through post-training surveys for bar staff (N = 220) and owners/managers (N = 22), including Likert-scale questions on various aspects of the program and open-ended inquiries about the training's best aspects and potential improvements. Despite challenges in bar enrollment due to time constraints and financial considerations, the program demonstrated high acceptability among participating bars. Bar staff expressed confidence in applying acquired bystander skills, emphasizing the importance of skilled and knowledgeable trainers. The qualitative analysis of participant feedback revealed valuable insights into the practicality and reception of the intervention. The study provides data from implementation to guide upscaling Safer Bars. Despite feasibility challenges amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the program showed high acceptability among bar staff and owners/managers, indicating its potential impact on addressing sexual aggression in nightlife settings. Future efforts must consider the reality of the alcohol-serving industry and focus on innovative strategies to overcome additional industry-specific barriers to enhance program feasibility.

It seems that while comics are interested in using the law to enforce joke theft, no legal mechanism currently exists that would apply in a meaningful way to the intangible and ever-changing nature of performed comedic material. Perhaps the realities of the stand-up comedy industry are incompatible with a purely legal solution, and it would be better to get creative, break down the norms-based system, and determine how best to import components of legal redress in a way that not only preserves the efficacy of the current approach but also addresses some of the pitfalls leading to inconsistent enforcement. In attempting to bolster the protections against joke theft while respecting the preferences of comedians, learning from the law might be better than leaning on the law.

Exploring the Frontiers: A Comprehensive Review of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in Manufacturing and Industry

Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are revo- lutionizing manufacturing practices by offering immersive and interactive experiences. This review paper synthesizes current research on AR and VR’s applications, benefits, and challenges in manufacturing, covering design, training, maintenance, and quality control. Key findings highlight the applications and positive impact of AR/VR on efficiency, cost management, and quality control in manufacturing processes. Industries are in- creasingly adopting these technologies to enhance productivity and reduce errors. However, challenges such as cost, techno- logical infrastructure, and integration into existing workflows remain significant barriers. In conclusion, integrating AR and VR in manufacturing holds immense potential to transform traditional methods and improve operational efficiency. This paper advocates for broader implementation and research to harness the full benefits of immersive technologies in manufacturing.

Virtual reality in the luxury fashion industry: a systematic literature review

Purpose This paper aims to synthesize the existing literature on virtual reality (VR) in the luxury fashion industry, discuss the current practical applications of VR technologies and review previous research undertaken in the luxury fashion field. Design/methodology/approach This paper conducts a systematic review and thematic analysis of existing literature to evaluate current research concerning VR and the luxury fashion industry. This search initially returned a total of 1,131 sources. After establishing and applying criteria of exclusion and inclusion, a total of 46 articles were selected for the thematic analysis. Findings Five major themes were identified, including virtual luxury fashion consumption, VR in marketing communication, virtual try-on, VR retail (including virtual fashion retail spaces) and virtual worlds (including customers’ virtual representation as avatars). The importance of these themes for the study of VR in luxury fashion is supported by relevant studies in the literature. Originality/value Whilst research into VR use within luxury fashion has increased recently, it remains fragmented. Given the absence of a comprehensive review addressing this topic within the literature, this paper will help scholars and fashion brands better understand the effects of VR on the luxury fashion industry. By integrating current practice and existing research, this paper contributes to a better understanding of how and where VR is used in luxury fashion contexts.

Chemical Recycling of Silicones-Current State of Play (Building and Construction Focus).

As the demand for silicone polymers continues to grow across various industries, the need for effective recycling methods has become increasingly important, because recycling silicone products reduces landfill waste, conserves resources, and uses less energy. Chemical recycling involves the depolymerization of silicone waste into oligomers, which can then be used to produce virgin-grade silicone. While this sector of the recycling industry is still in its infancy-we estimate that 35,000 to 45,000 metric tons of silicone waste will be chemically recycled worldwide in 2024-an increasing number of companies are beginning to explore the implementation of closed-loop systems to recycle silicones. This article examines the technical options and challenges for recycling silicone polymers, the major degradation chemistries available for depolymerizing silicones, and the current industrial reality of chemical recycling of silicones.

Integrating building information modelling (BIM) and extended reality (XR) in the transportation infrastructure industry

Although building information modelling (BIM) has been widely used in the building industry, its usage in infrastructure projects such as bridges has been very challenging. Extended Reality (XR) that simulates a construction project is still considered a new technology in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. This paper investigates the viability of integrating both BIM and XR technologies into transportation infrastructure projects. A fully integrated workflow for introducing different XR, Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR), and BIM technologies using different software for a case study of El-Merghani bridge, a reinforced concrete girder type bridge, was developed. The models for the bridge included GIS integration and geometric road design according to AASHTO, documentation, shop drawings and quantification were developed for the bridge. A hypothetical time schedule was generated in Oracle Primavera P6 elevating the BIM model to 4-D and developing VR and AR virtual experiences with the capability to investigate, visualize, and present the model in a virtual environment, at a high level of immersion. Additionally, the associated risk reduction for the considered XR technology was assessed using Monte Carlo simulation. The workflow and the detailed 3D models developed for the bridge along with the highly immersive VR and AR experiences have provided an interactive platform for engineers and different stakeholders to monitor the project during the design and construction phases. The risk analysis showed that significant cost savings can be achieved with the utilization of VR and AR technology in bridges construction.

La experiencia turística en los planes de estudios universitarios de Grado en Turismo

Tourism and the experience economy are closely linked. The aim of this study is to assess the extent, timing, and manner in which the tourist experience has been integrated into the curriculum of official undergraduate Tourism degrees in Spain, given that a relevant curriculum is the most crucial element of an educational program. For this purpose, we have employed a bibliometric analysis. Through a Content Analysis of the verification reports of Tourism degrees, using ATLAS.ti v.24, we have identified a temporal disconnect between the reality of the tourism industry and its corresponding academic training. Therefore, a greater integration of the tourist experience into the curriculum is necessary. This could be particularly achieved by introducing more mandatory courses that cover this subject matter. It is recommended that universities review their study plans to more significantly incorporate the tourist experience, in line with CEDTUR's recommendations. The significant practical implications of this research for the employability of graduates extend to the entire tourism ecosystem. It has highlighted a discrepancy between the needs of businesses and educational programs, leading to recommendations for the implementation of improvement measures in the verification reports of Tourism degrees.

Exploring the critical success factors of virtual reality adoption in the hotel industry

PurposeThis qualitative study aims to investigate the critical success factors (CSFs) driving the adoption of virtual reality (VR) in the hospitality industry, shedding light on key determinants for successful implementation.Design/methodology/approachDrawing on a diverse set of interviews conducted in Italy, Pakistan, the USA and Turkey, this study uses thematic analysis facilitated by NVivo 12 to comprehensively explore and identify the CSFs influencing VR adoption within the global hospitality industry.FindingsThis study identifies distinct CSFs at various phases of VR adoption in the hospitality industry. Preimplementation emphasizes budget planning and stakeholder engagement, implementation highlights safety training and feedback mechanisms and postimplementation underscores the importance of innovation, feedback utilization and maintenance for sustained success. These findings offer a strategic roadmap for VR integration in hospitality.Practical implicationsThe study informs hospitality industry stakeholders of crucial success factors for VR adoption, thereby guiding strategic decision-making. Sustained VR integration success is ensured by emphasizing budget planning, stakeholder engagement, safety training, feedback mechanisms and postimplementation innovation.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors’ knowledge, this groundbreaking research is the first in-depth investigation into CSFs for the adoption of VR in the hospitality industry. This research advances our understanding of and provides fresh guidance for effective VR integration by revealing novel insights into the key variables at various deployment phases.

Analisis Aplikasi Augmented Reality dalam Bidang Pariwisata Terhadap Keamanan Privasi Data

This study investigates the benefits of augmented reality (AR) in the tourism industry and its impact on data security. The background of the research highlights that information technology is becoming increasingly important in the tourism industry, with augmented reality (AR) being a major focus for enhancing visitor experiences. In this context, concerns about user data protection arise since AR applications may require personal information such as user location and travel preferences. A comparative research method was used to compare two popular augmented reality (AR) applications: Smartify, Arts and Culture, Zome, Augmented Reality, Maps AR, Guideo, and AR Trial. The results indicate that most applications have adequate data security policies, including data transfer encryption and user control over their data. Zome was found to be the best in terms of data security and user privacy, scoring 90% in the assessment. This research underscores the importance of using AR applications to maintain data security and user privacy in the tourism industry and suggests further research to learn more about the data privacy practices of AR applications.

The Adoption of Mobile Augmented Reality in Tourism Industry: Effects on Customer Engagement, Intention to Use and Usage Behaviour

The purpose of this study is to examine the consumer adoption of mobile augmented reality (AR) in the tourism industry in Malaysia. Drawing on the extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), interactivity, vividness, and information content factors are examined in relation to perceived usefulness (PU). and perceived ease of use (PEOU). Subsequently, both PU and PEOU are hypothesised towards customer engagement (CE), behavioural intention to use (BIU) and usage behaviour (UB). The study consists of 500 samples from consumers who have experienced the usage of mobile AR in the tourism industry in Malaysia. Using a quantitative approach, structural equation modeling (SEM) was applied to analyse the collected data. The findings revealed that interactivity, vividness, and information content have positive effects on the PU and PEOU. PU and PEOU have positive effects on the CE, BIU, and UB. In theoretical contributions, the study contributes to the extension of TAM by adding interactivity, vividness, and information content as antecedents to PU and PEOU. This research also validated CE as the new dimension for consumer behavioural engagement that affects BIU and UB in the extended TAM. In practical contributions, the findings will assist tourism providers in strategic marketing planning and formulation to enhance mobile AR.

The study finds that by effectively leveraging these digital tools, tourism enterprises can better understand customer needs and achieve greater flexibility and responsiveness in service delivery, promoting overall value co-creation in the tourism industry. Additionally, the paper discusses the long-term impact of digital customer orientation on the sustainable development of the tourism industry and how enterprises can strategically integrate these technologies to optimize customer experiences and enhance competitiveness.

In a competitive environment, technology such as virtual reality stands out as a fundamental pillar for the training of future engineers and becomes essential in production processes. The adoption of technologies in training and education is presented as an effective strategy to achieve positive results, so this research proposes the implementation of training through a practical case in the steel industry. This case illustrates the successful integration of immersive virtual reality to enhance worker training, recognized as essential to boost efficiency and the quality of transmitted information, as well as to mitigate occupational risks. The results of this study demonstrate the rapid transformation and digital adoption of new technologies, emerging as a strategic tool to keep workers updated and prepared for the changing challenges of the work environment.

Practice Briefing: A comprehensive negotiation framework for real estate professionals (Part I)

PurposeThe purpose of this briefing is to highlight the critical importance of negotiation skills in the everyday lives of real estate professionals. It delves into how negotiators must improve their negotiations skills given the negotiation-intensive nature of real estate. It also helps to handle common pitfalls and challenges in negotiations, particularly in the increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) reality of the real estate industry. The briefing offers strategic insights for preparation and negotiation aimed at improving any real estate negotiator’s average performance.Design/methodology/approachThe expert opinion piece combines a literature review on negotiation strategies with practical insights. It addresses the observed under appreciation of negotiation theory and skill, reflecting on real-world real estate negotiations. The approach merges theoretical analysis with practical application, offering actionable recommendations to improve negotiation outcomes.FindingsThe negotiation-intensive real estate industry and the transformative impact of VUCA challenges on real estate professionals’ ability to adapt and continuously negotiate successful deals clashes with many real estate’s professional or fixed mind-set over negotiation historically being an art or a talent and mostly being stuck with win-lose strategies. Instead, negotiation is a science that can be learned and deliberately improved to counter stress-induced or fear-based responses that lead negotiators toward suboptimal negotiation strategies, such as win-lose or naive win-win. However, these dynamics are preventable. Well-equipped and well-prepared value win-win negotiators can adopt a growth mind-set, study modern negotiation advice and frameworks to thrive in the negotiation-rich real estate industry and convert even VUCA challenges into an amazing source of value.Practical implicationsReal estate professionals can become more aware of which and how current obstacles and poor choices negatively contribute to their negotiation performance. Experimental Analysis of Smart Drilling for the Furniture Industry in the Era of Industry 4.0.

The fact is that hundreds of holes are drilled in the assembly process of furniture sets, so intelligent drilling is a key element in maximizing efficiency. Increasing the feed rate or the cutting speed in materials characterized by a higher machinability index is necessary. Smart drilling, that is, the real-time adjustment of the cutting parameters, requires the evolution of cutting process variables. In addition, it is necessary to control and adjust the processing parameters in real time. Machinability is one of the most important technological properties in the machining process, enabling the determination of the material's susceptibility to machining. One of the machinability indicators is the unit cutting resistance. This article proposes a method of material identification using the short-time Fourier transform in order to automatically adjust cutting parameters during drilling based on force signals, cutting torque and acceleration signals. In the tests, four types of wood-based materials were used as the processed material: medium-density fiberboard, chipboard, plywood board and high-pressure laminate. Holes with a diameter of 10 mm were drilled in the test materials, with variable feed rate, cutting speed and thickness of cutting layer. An innovative method for determining the value of unit cutting resistance was proposed. The results obtained were used to determine the machinability index. Based on the test results, it was shown that both the selected signal measures in the time and frequency domains and the unit cutting resistance are constant for a given material of a workpiece and do not depend on the drilling process parameters. In this article, the methodology is proposed, which can be used as an intelligent technique to support the drilling process to detect the material being machined using data from sensors installed on the machine tool. The work proposes the fundamentals for material identification based on the analysis of force signals and the magnitude of force derivatives. The proposed methodology shows effectiveness, which proves that it can be used in intelligent drilling processes. Hybrid wood-based material structures consisting of different materials are becoming more and more common in building structures for strength, economic and environmental reasons. Due to the difference in the machinability of interconnected materials, cutting parameters must be optimized in real time during machining. Currently, with the rapid development of Industry 4.0, the on-line identification of parameters is becoming necessary to improve the process flow in industrial reality. The proposed methodology can be used as an intelligent technique to support the drilling process in order to detect the material being processed using data from sensors installed on the machine tool.

Enhanced performance of attapulgite-supported g-C3N4 for photocatalytic CO2 reduction

As a new type of non-metallic semiconductor photocatalyst, g-C3N4 has great potential in photocatalytic CO2 reduction. However, due to the low catalytic activity, it is still far from industrial reality for such applications. Herein, this work introduces attapulgite (ATP) into the photocatalyst system of g-C3N4. Additionally, ATP/Au-CN was obtained through the photodeposition method. The photocatalytic reduction ability of the photocatalyst for CO2 is enhanced. The photoelectric tests show that loading of ATP can promote the separation and migration of photocarriers. Through BET testing, it was found that the alkaline pore structure on the surface of ATP not only captures CO2, but also increases the specific surface area of the composite. According to the experimental results, the possible photocatalytic mechanism was verified by in-situ diffuse reflection infrared Fourier transform (DRIFT) spectral analysis and DFT calculation. This work provides new guidance for the construction of high efficient photocatalyst systems using abundant ATP as a support.

Augmented Reality in Industry 4.0 Assistance and Training Areas: A Systematic Literature Review and Bibliometric Analysis

Augmented reality (AR) technology is making a strong appearance on the industrial landscape, driven by significant advances in technological tools and developments. Its application in areas such as training and assistance has attracted the attention of the research community, which sees AR as an opportunity to provide operators with a more visual, immersive and interactive environment. This article deals with an analysis of the integration of AR in the context of the fourth industrial revolution, commonly referred to as Industry 4.0. Starting with a systematic review, 60 relevant studies were identified from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. These findings were used to build bibliometric networks, providing a broad perspective on AR applications in training and assistance in the context of Industry 4.0. The article presents the current landscape, existing challenges and future directions of AR research applied to industrial training and assistance based on a systematic literature review and citation network analysis. The findings highlight a growing trend in AR research, with a particular focus on addressing and overcoming the challenges associated with its implementation in complex industrial environments.
