Breaking the Hierarchy: Integrating Agile Leadership with Indonesian Cultural Values for Startup Resilience

Digital transformation and the VUCA business environment have created a demand for adaptive leadership models among Indonesian startups. While research on agile leadership has developed significantly globally, there remains a lack of integrated models that accommodate local cultural values in the context of early-stage startups in developing countries. This study aims to develop a contextual agile leadership integration model for Indonesian startups through a systematic literature review. Using the SPAR-4-SLR approach, we analyzed 82 high-quality articles from the Scopus database (2018-2025) through a combination of bibliometric and thematic methods. Results indicate a significant increase in post-pandemic publications with a terminological shift from adaptive leadership to agile leadership. Relational (41%) and execution agility (33%) emerged as dominant components, while implementation was most prevalent in technology and education sectors. Significant research gaps were identified, including minimal contextual models for Indonesian startups (only 6.7% of articles) and insufficient integration of local cultural values. The developed model provides a multi-dimensional framework that accommodates early-stage startup characteristics, Indonesian cultural values such as musyawarah and gotong royong, and phased implementation pathways. Theoretically, this model contributes to the development of leadership contingency theory in developing economy contexts. Practically, it offers concrete guidance for startup founders to adapt agile leadership practices according to business development stages, facilitating more effective product-market validation and adaptive strategic pivoting.

Pentagraph responsibility and PROPPER Mechanism as Panacea for CSR in SMEs: Spiritual and Indonesian cultural approach

This research aims to construct the concept and mechanism of CSR in SMEs by internalizing the philosophical values of Indonesian Pancasila, encompassing spiritual and cultural values. A qualitative study was employed and utilized Hegel’s dialectic approach for data analysis. This research generates the Pentagraph Responsibility concept, which consists of the values of spirituality, care, and liberty, loyalty, democracy, and fairness. Spirituality is the highest value that serves as a reference for all interrelated values. This concept is operationalized through the PROPPER mechanism, which consists of prosperity, people, planet, and partnership. The involvement of Gotong Royong (mutual cooperation) as a cultural value in this mechanism reflects the systemic strength of SMEs. Given its voluntary nature, prior studies have found how spirituality and cultural values influence CSR initiatives in SMEs. This study has generated the framework of Pentagraph Responsibility and the PROPPER mechanism, both of which integrate these values. This finding provides a value-oriented framework for CSR practices, promoting more holistic accountability. The existence of appropriate concepts and mechanisms for SMEs might enhance awareness and encourage the implementation of CSR in SMEs.

Revitalizing National Identity and Social Harmony: A Cross-sectional Study of Nusantara Cultural Integration in Pupil Management and Stakeholder Support

Preserving Indonesian cultural values amidst globalization plays a crucial role, especially in facing challenges such as symbolic degradation, declining trust in national culture, and decreasing nationalism among the younger generation. This study aims to explore the impact of integrating Archipelagic cultural values into pupil management, pupil management activities, and stakeholder support on the revitalization of national identity and social harmony in formal schools in Indonesia. This study uses a quantitative survey approach with multiple linear regression, employing IBM SPSS, AMOS for Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and Smart PLS 3 for hypothesis analysis. Data were collected from 268 respondents selected randomly from the population of school principals, vice principals, teachers, students, student organization advisors, and school staff across various provinces in Indonesia. The study results indicate that integrating Archipelagic cultural values in pupil management and culture-based pupil management activities significantly impacts the revitalization of national identity and social harmony. However, stakeholder support did not significantly affect it. The study's limitations include potential constraints in sample size, geographic focus, and the complexity of capturing interactions between global and local cultural forces. Therefore, future research could explore dominant factors in revitalizing national identity and social harmony, the impact of social media on students' views of Archipelagic values, and use comparative studies to enhance insights on integrating local values in education. Furthermore, guides educators and school principals in designing curricula integrating Archipelagic cultural values to strengthen students' national identity. It highlights the importance of training principals and mentors to address the challenges of globalization while maintaining national cultural values.

The Use of Fable Stories as Learning Media for the Beginner Students of BIPA

This research aims to examine the use of fable stories as a medium for beginner-level BIPA learning through literature studies. BIPA is the abbreviation from Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing or like Indonesian for Foreign Speakers. The method used is a descriptive-qualitative review of literature related to fable stories, language learning, and educational technology. The purpose of the study is to examine how fable stories can be used effectively as a medium for beginner-level BIPA learning. The results show that fable stories are effective in improving learners’ language skills and cultural understanding. However, challenges such as adaptation of teaching materials, language complexity, and limited teachers need attention. Digital technology and integration of fables into the curriculum can be innovative solutions. With simple narratives, interesting storylines, and universal moral messages, fables can improve language skills, such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking, while introducing Indonesian cultural values. In conclusion, fable stories have great potential to support BIPA learning, although further development is needed to overcome the existing challenges. Further in-depth research on the effectiveness of fable stories in the context of BIPA needs to be conducted to provide a stronger scientific basis for the development of this teaching method.

Menumbuhkan Kesadaran Nasionalisme Generasi Muda di Era Globalisasi Melalui Nilai-Nilai Pancasila

The Indonesian nation as a country cannot avoid the challenges of globalization, but by adhering to Pancasila as its guiding principle, Indonesia will be able to maintain its identity and existence. This paper states that nurturing the spirit of nationalism in the minds of the younger generation from childhood will make them more resilient to negative influences and rampant moral changes in the era of globalization. So, by strengthening morality and ethics through Pancasila education, Indonesia's young generation will be better prepared to face globalization and maintain Indonesian identity at the same time. Cultural values that are characteristic of the Indonesian nation, such as mutual cooperation, friendship, hospitality in society, are basic privileges that can make individual Indonesians love and preserve their own national culture. But the characteristics of Indonesian society, known as a friendly and polite society, are now starting to fade since the entry of foreign culture into Indonesia which cannot be properly selected by Indonesian society. So, in this case the government has an important role to maintain Indonesian cultural values in the lives of its people. The following are several ways to maintain Indonesian culture so that it is not influenced by negative foreign culture, 1) Cultivate a strong spirit of nationalism, for example the spirit of loving domestic products and culture. 2) Instill and practice the values of Pancasila as well as possible. 3) Instill and implement religious teachings as well as possible. 4) Selective towards foreign cultures entering Indonesia. 5) Strengthen and maintain national identity so that it does not fade. In this way, the community can act wisely in determining attitudes so that the nation's identity and personality does not fade due to foreign cultures entering Indonesia in particular.

Digital transformation of youth violence in Indonesia: new responsibilities and social negotiations in the digital age

Digital transformation has significantly changed how Indonesian society addresses youth violence. However, current frameworks fail to address the unique dynamics in collectivist digital environments. This perspective article examines the role of digital platforms as arenas for social negotiation and systemic change in Indonesia, introducing the Collective Resonance Communication Model (CRCM) to clarify information flows in collectivist cultures. By analyzing three notable cases of youth violence, we evaluate the influence of Indonesian cultural values on digital discourse and institutional accountability. Our findings indicate that collectivist digital spaces demonstrate greater cross-group interaction (15–25%) compared to individualistic environments, thus challenging previously accepted theories about digital echo chambers. The CRCM model outlines five essential components that illustrate how cultural values shape digital communication patterns and foster social change. By integrating cultural dimensions with digital dynamics, we propose a framework for understanding how collectivist societies utilize digital platforms to address youth violence while maintaining social harmony. These insights inform policy recommendations for culturally informed digital interventions.

Internalisasi Nilai Pendidikan Agama Islam untuk Menumbuhkan Jiwa Nasionalisme Siswa di Sanggar Bimbingan Sungai Mulia 5 Gombak Kuala Lumpur

Globalization has altered Indonesian cultural values, leading to a loss of cultural identity due to the unpreparedness of Human Resources (HR) to face these changes. Nationalism, reflected in behaviors such as maintaining harmony and respecting culture, is a sense of love for the homeland. Religious education becomes key in shaping the character of children, especially at Sanggar Bimbingan Sungai Mulia 5, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur. This research describes the nationalism spirit of the sanggar students, the process of internalizing Islamic religious education values, and the supporting and inhibiting factors in fostering the students' nationalism, especially children of undocumented Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). A descriptive qualitative method was used, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results reveal that the internalization of Islamic religious education values plays a crucial role in shaping the nationalism of students at Sanggar Bimbingan Sungai Mulia 5. This process is observed through Al Ghazali's internalization efforts, which include goals, the role of educators highlighting teachers' roles in habituation and exemplary practices. The emphasized value components include itiqadiyah, amaliah, and khuluqiyah, undergoing stages of transformation, transaction, and trans-internalization of values. This study is unique in highlighting the situation of children of undocumented PMIs, who face significant challenges in accessing formal education. It offers valuable insights into how religious education can be an effective tool for fostering nationalism in such a challenging context.

Integrasi Kearifan Lokal dalam Pembelajaran IPS di SD Untuk Membentuk Karakter Cinta Budaya

This study aims to examine the importance of integrating local wisdom into Social Studies (IPS) education at the elementary school level as one of the efforts to build a culture-loving character in students. Local wisdom, which encompasses cultural values, traditions, and local knowledge, has great potential to enrich the learning material and strengthen the nation's cultural identity. Through various strategies, such as the use of local wisdom-based learning media, project-based approaches, and the development of contextual learning resources, IPS education can connect theory with students' everyday life practices. This integration not only helps students understand social, economic, and cultural concepts more deeply but also fosters pride and love for their own culture. Although there are some challenges in its implementation, such as teachers' limited understanding and a lack of resources, efforts to integrate local wisdom can be achieved through collaboration between teachers, communities, and cultural experts. Thus, teaching based on local wisdom will support the strengthening of the nation's character, grounded in the noble values of Indonesian culture.

Decoding Public Policy: How Cultural Dynamics Shape Decision-Making in Indonesia’s Political Landscape

This study explores how cultural dynamics shape public policy in Indonesia, focusing on the influence of cultural dimensions on policy-making processes and outcomes. The purpose is to understand the impacts of Indonesian cultural values on various policy sectors, including education, health, environment, and economic development. Employing a qualitative research approach, the study relies exclusively on secondary data from academic literature, government reports, and media sources to examine these cultural influences. High uncertainty avoidance results in rigid regulatory frameworks, and traditional gender roles affect gender-related policies. Sector-specific analyses highlight the integration of traditional knowledge in environmental policies and the challenges of balancing modernization with cultural heritage in economic policies. The implications of these findings suggest that policymakers should incorporate cultural considerations into policy design to enhance effectiveness and inclusivity. This research contributes original insights into the intersection of culture and policy, emphasizing the need for culturally sensitive approaches in diverse governance contexts. By shedding light on how cultural factors impact policy formulation and implementation, the study offers valuable guidance for developing culturally relevant and effective policies addressing societal needs.
