Ways to Improve the Social Adaptability of Mentally Disabled Children

The Curriculum Standards for Life Adaptation of Compulsory Education in Schools for Intellectual Cultivation attaches great importance to the cultivation of the social adaptability of mentally disabled children, which has great significance in strengthening the social adaptability of mentally disabled children in the new era. Nowadays, compared with normal children, mentally disabled children still have serious deficiencies in physical and mental development, daily learning and life. Therefore, it is urgent to carry out rich and varied education and teaching contents and forms. At the same time, the problems of social adaptability of children with intellectual disabilities are mainly attributed to the lack of refinement of individualized growth programs, the need to pay attention to individual training courses, and the need for comprehensive education ideas. Therefore, we must teach students according to their aptitude to carry out adaptive life teaching, deepen the systematic daily training level, and carry out the comprehensive thinking of education with diversity and openness.

The Effectiveness of Using Videolecture in Teaching Biology

This article discusses the issues of effective use of video lectures in teaching biology, the methodological foundations of its creation and improving the effectiveness of teaching using video tutorials. Due to the transition of the educational process to a distance learning format due to the epidemic situation in the country, dependence on the use of video lectures in education has increased. The main purpose of the study is to identify the advantages and disadvantages of using video lectures in higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan and to improve the quality of education through the use of video lectures. The research work was carried out for 3rd year students of the specialty «Biology» of al-Farabi Kazakh National University. When studying the effectiveness of video lectures in teaching biology, video tutorials were filmed using various information technologies. The use of these technologies in the biology course contributes to the development of students' level of training and skills in the use of ICT. During the theoretical analysis, positive and negative aspects of the use of video lectures were identified. The positive aspects-the ability to effectively use time management and review the video lecture at any time – showed the importance of obtaining information for students. The negative aspects are affected by the passivity of students when watching video lectures, as well as the lack of direct contact with the lecturer. The results of this study are important both for the development of psychodidactics of the university and for the development of a system of video lectures for individual training courses.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN THE CONTEXT OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT OF THE ELDERLY

The world tendencies of population aging, international and domestic practices of adaptation of the socio-economic environment to the deformation of the age structure of the population in the context of social responsibility are highlighted. The effects of population aging on the country's economy are substantiated. Emphasis is placed on changing economic activities, services, medicine, education, labor market, social sphere, tax system. The importance of socio-economic activation of the elderly population of Ukraine in the conditions of demographic crisis and increase of life expectancy are proved.
 The world and national normative documents in the aspect of formation of socio-economic strategies, policies, practical activities of governments to minimize the present and future consequences of population aging have been studied.
 The domestic practices of social activation of the elderly are considered. Over the past decade, many social projects have been implemented in Ukraine within the cooperation of governmental and non-governmental organizations, the private sector and international foundations to enhance the participation of elderly people in the society. In particular, recreational centers, Universities of the third age and individual training courses have been created, forums and festivals are being held, volunteering is being developed. However, the coverage of elderly people by project activity in this area is low. Social projects are mainly concentrated in large cities and level of awareness of available opportunities is quite low.
 The main aspects of social integration of the elderly are analyzed on the example of the rural population of Skolivshchyna (Skole district). The results of the sociological survey show that most elderly people consider themselves to be needed and important to the community. The activity of the elderly is low: 7 % of respondents consider themselves to be inactive, 56 % are less active, 32 % are more active, and only 5 % consider themselves unambiguously active. The motivation factors for the inclusion of elderly people in public activities are the need to be in the team (35 %), the need for socially important activities (28 %), the unwillingness to stay at home (11 %), the need for self-actualization (8 %).
 The ways of increasing social responsibility in the direction of social integration of the elderly in Ukraine are suggestedin order to adapt the socio-economic sphere to the trends of population aging.

РАЗВИТИЕ УНИВЕРСАЛЬНЫХ КОМПЕТЕНЦИЙ В СИСТЕМЕ ФОРМИРОВАНИЯ ВОЕННО-ПРОФЕССИОНАЛЬНОЙ НАПРАВЛЕННОСТИ ВОСПИТАННИКОВ КАДЕТСКОГО УЧИЛИЩА

The article considers the conditions for the development of universal competencies in the system of military-professional orientation of the personality of pupils of pre-university educational organizations of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. An understanding of the military professional orientation of the individual, understanding and content of universal competencies to be developed in the system of the military professional orientation of the personality, as well as individual components, factors and psychological and pedagogical conditions affecting their effectiveness in the development of universal competencies in the cadet are disclosed. The military professional orientation of the personality is considered as a complex integrative personality formation, the core of which is motives, value orientations, interests, goals, beliefs and ideals that ensure personally significant involvement in military professional activity, the desire for active mastery and self-development in it. It is noted that the structure of the military professional orientation is closely interconnected with universal competencies, which are also formed in the educational process of the cadet school. The conditions for the development of universal competencies in the system of the military professional orientation of the personality of pupils include conducting methodological and consulting work with pupils, teachers, teachers, parents of cadets in the office of military professional consultation, and a psychologist-teacher conducting an individual training course with cadets on the basics of choosing a military profession, the organization of platoon and course activities for the military professional orientation of the cadets, parent-teacher meetings on the course “Choosing a profession is a serious matter”, “How to become an officer of the Russian Army”, etc.; individual consultations with the cadets weekly. It is also noted that one of the main ways of forming a military-professional orientation in the school is self-education. The article also presents the results of the development of the military-professional qualities of the pupils, indicating the effectiveness of the described conditions.

Energy Balance and Diet Quality During the US Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command Individual Training Course.

This study characterized the total daily energy expenditure (TDEE), energy intake (EI), body weight, and diet quality (using the Healthy Eating Index-2010 [HEI]) of 20 male US Marines participating in the 9-month US Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command Individual Training Course (ITC). TDEE was highest (ρ < .05) during Raider Spirit (RS; 6,376 ± 712kcal/d) compared with Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE; 4,011 ± 475kcal/d) School, Close-Quarters Battle (CQB; 4,189 ± 476kcal/d), and Derna Bridge (DB; 3,754 ± 314kcal/d). Body mass was lost (ρ < .05) during SERE, RS, and DB because EI was less than TDEE (SERE, -3,665kcal/d ± 475kcal/d; RS, -3,966 ± 776kcal/d; and DB, -1,027 ± 740kcal/d; p < .05). However, body mass was restored before the start of each subsequent phase and was not different between the start (86.4 ± 9.8kg) and end of ITC (86.7 ± 9.0kg). HEI score declined during ITC (before, 65.6 ± 11.2 versus after, 60.9 ± 9.7; p < .05) because less greens or beans and more empty calories were consumed (ρ < .05). Dietary protein intake was lowest during RS (0.9 ± 0.4g/kg) compared with all other phases, and carbohydrate intake during RS (3.6 ± 1g/kg), CQB (3.6 ± 1.0g/kg), and DB (3.7 ± 1.0g/kg) was lower than during the academic phase of SERE (5.1 ± 1.0g/kg; p < .05). These data suggest that ITC students, on average, adequately restore body mass between intermittent periods of negative energy balance. Education regarding the importance of maintaining healthy eating patterns while in garrison, consuming more carbohydrate and protein, and better matching EI with TDEE during strenuous training exercises may be warranted.

Professional Training of Future Green Economy Specialists and Strategic Priorities for Sustainable Subsurface Management

On the brink of the third millennium humanity has been showing a special interest in the environment. This article provides definitions of the term “sustainable development” and explains how to achieve it by implementing the new development model known as “the green economy”; it also shows the role and place of education in the overall set of tools and mechanisms that assist in transitioning to the green economy principles. The authors substantiate the importance and necessity of preparing specialists for the green economy as the first step towards its implementation. They give an example of an interdisciplinary training module designed to prepare future specialists. This module can easily be integrated in the student's individual training course. We describe the advantages and benefits of the suggested educational module.

This case deals with an instructional designer (ID) working at a European university who has been asked to convert an existing on-campus program for working professionals to online delivery. This case took place over a period of several months and led to the development of an online training program. The program was designed to facilitate management of the individual training courses, while supporting exchanges between participants from a highly heterogenous audience. Interpersonal relationships that developed within the group remained a basic component of the training experience. The main challenges encountered by the instructional designer were the module-based courses that emphasized personalized learning, a lack of confidence in the Program Coordinator, and a lack of ICT knowledge by the design team in an institutional context unfavorable to the use of ICT. The courses offered by this university were mainly on-campus and the LMS was mainly used as a content repository.

Das Marburger chirurgische Curriculum - Attraktivitätssteigerung der studentischen Ausbildung in der Chirurgie durch Vermittlung von chirurgischen Kernkompetenzen

The quality of medical education is an ongoing challenge due to the continuing changes of the health-care politics and general social conditions. At many German university hospitals the dominating picture is overfilled courses, lack of hands-on practice, reduced patient contact and the dull provision of theoretical, abstract knowledge. The reformed surgical curriculum at the University of Marburg university hospital is used to demonstrate that, in spite of large student numbers, a practice-oriented, small-group training at a high didactic level is possible. The surgical training courses are organized in detail and coordinated. Course contents and structure are media availablein print and online versions for both studentsand teachers and thus fulfill not only transparency needs but also contemporary requirements. The strategy of a practice- and patient-oriented, small-group training is followed strictly in the surgical curriculum. In addition, accompanying tutorial possibilities for individual study in an up-to-date learning center are offered. Here the students have the opportunity to intensify knowledge acquired in previous or future courses with numerous attractive education means. Continuous evaluation of the individual training courses at the end of each semester not only document motivation of the students but also serve to continuously improve the training concepts.

Personal therapy as a mandatory requirement for counselling psychologists in training: A qualitative study of the impact of therapy on trainees’ personal and professional development

Although there are several reasons commonly cited in the literature regarding the possible benefits of personal treatment for therapists, the research to date has been inconclusive. The aim of the present study was to explore trainee counselling psychologists’ experiences of personal therapy, and the impact it has on their personal and professional development. Eight trainees from the University of Teesside participated in a series of semi-structured interviews. The data was analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) which produced four themes. Although the findings suggest that personal therapy can be a valuable experience for the personal and professional development of counselling psychologists in training, it also contributes to an increase in their levels of stress, something which the British Psychological Society and individual training courses need to consider. Although the participants believed that personal therapy should be a mandatory part of counselling psychologists’ training, they also thought that certain changes to the current requirements would ease the intense pressure there is on trainees at present.
