Objective To observe the effect of drainage fluid metering and uniform collection in drainage fluid metering container for patients with drainage tube. To explore a method that can reduce the environmental pollution of drainage fluid, ensure accurate measurement of drainage fluid, reduce workload, improve staff and patient satisfaction, and conduct uniform harmless treatment for centralized collection of drainage fluid. Methods From January 2015 to August 2016, 240 patients underwent biliary tract and liver surgery in this department, and 400 drainage tubes were performed postoperatively.According to different methods of measurement and collection of drainage fluid, the patients were divided into treatment group (using disposable drainage fluid metering container) and control group (using traditional measuring cup), and each group had 120 patients with 200 drainage tubes. The indicators of environmental pollution, measurement accuracy, average time of pouring drainage fluid, staff satisfaction and patient satisfaction were recorded and compared between the two groups. Results There were statistically significant differences between the two groups in the number of cases of environmental pollution, the average time of pouring drainage fluid, staff satisfaction and patient satisfaction (P<0.05). Conclusions The use of disposable drainage liquid metering storage can reduce the environmental pollution caused by drainage liquid, ensure the accurate measurement of drainage liquid, reduce the workload, and improve the satisfaction of medical staff and patients, which provides a possibility for centralized collection of drainage liquid for uniform disinfection and innocuous treatment and is worthy of clinical promotion.
