Analysis of Benefits of RFID Technology Implementation in Improving Precast Concrete Material Management Systems in Indonesian Construction

Material management is a crucial factor that needs to be considered in any construction project. Poor material management can significantly impact the construction's quality, time, and cost. In Indonesia, the implementation of technology in construction, particularly in the field of materials management, is still not developing rapidly. Therefore, this study aims to identify the issues with the precast material management system in Indonesia and the benefits of implementing RFID technology to improve it. The methods employed include quantitative surveys with expert validation, pilot surveys, questionnaire surveys, data testing, and the Relative Importance Index (RII) method. The quantitative survey involved 50 respondents, selected based on specific criteria. The primary issue arising from the absence of RFID technology in precast material management in Indonesia is the inconsistency between the quantity and quality of precast materials arriving at the construction site. The lack of an automated tracking and data collection system is a contributing factor to these issues. Meanwhile, the main benefit of implementing RFID technology in improving precast material management systems in Indonesia is the ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records of precast materials. RFID technology enables real-time storage of comprehensive information, thereby minimizing material data recording errors.

Innovation incentive mechanism in the construction industry

The construction industry carries out effective innovation activities and is characterized by dynamic creation and implementation of construction technologies. In current economic conditions, the most acute problem is intensification of innovation activities of enterprises and restoration of the investment potential of the construction industry. The author developed an organizational economic mechanism for implementing innovative technologies into the construction industry. The mechanism covers the full cycle of the innovation process, determines the list of its main participants, their functions, and is based on the principles of consistency and integrity. This integral approach makes it possible to plan the innovation process due to the shared information space which has to be created by the government. The article describes a method for assessing the economic efficiency of the innovation process in the construction industry, calculating the economic effect of an economic entity for a certain period and identifying the level of innovation activities of enterprises. Innovation activity indicators are used to evaluate achievements of development and implementation of advanced construction technologies.

Benefits and Barriers of Construction Project Monitoring Using High-Resolution Automated Cameras

A more rapid and widespread use and implementation of technology in construction often fails since its benefits and limitations remain somewhat unclear. Project control is one of the most variable and time consuming task of construction project managers and superintendents and yet continues to be mostly a manual task. Controlling tasks such as tracking and updating project schedules can be assisted through remotely operating technology such as high-resolution cameras that can provide construction management and other users with imaging feeds of job site activities. Although construction cameras have been around for many years, the costs, benefits, and barriers of their use have not been investigated nor quantified in detail.
