The integration of blockchain technology into supply chain management (SCM) has emerged as a revolutionary force transforming traditional business operations. This study uses bibliometric analysis on 1069 articles from the Scopus database, using text mining and Python to uncover predominant themes and research trends at the intersection of blockchain and SCM. The key findings revealed three main thematic groups: ‘blockchain to improve transparency and traceability in SCM’ (supported by 323 articles), ‘impact of blockchain on supply chain efficiency and cost reduction’ (295 articles), and ‘blockchain-enabled supply chain resilience’ (191 articles). Furthermore, text mining highlighted prominent themes such as ‘decentralized supply chain networks’ (204 articles), ‘smart contracts for automated processes in SCM’ (234 articles), and ‘blockchain for sustainable supply chain practices’ (227 articles). The inclusion of sustainability themes reflects the growing importance of environmentally conscious strategies within supply chains, driven by the capacity of blockchain to reduce waste, and promote resource efficiency. The study identifies critical literature gaps, advocating for further exploration of the socio-economic impacts of blockchain on SCM. The topic extraction suggests new directions for SCM theory, while the role of blockchain in fostering sustainable and ethical supply chains is underscored. Practically, blockchain and IoT emerge as pivotal in the advancement of SCM, with text mining offering industry foresight and emphasizing blockchain-driven resilient strategies. Limitations include reliance on a single database and the recommendation that future studies incorporate diverse sources and qualitative insights. The findings provide a roadmap for academics and practitioners, highlighting potential avenues in SCM, especially in the context of sustainable and ethical practices.

Abstract Critical Infrastructures produce critical goods and services for society and cover a wide range of sectors according to the governance frameworks in place in the United States, in the European Union (EU) and in EU Member States including Romania. Aviation is a particular case for the critical transport infrastructure, with a high degree of technical complexity, economic productivity and complex supply and production chains. Blockchain or Distributed Ledger is an already famous digital emerging technology with the possibility of disintermediating numerous system processes, thereby reducing costs, increasing security and reducing risk in a world where cumbersome and expensive intermediaries are required for trust in all sorts of transactions. This article provides a brief overview of the critical air transport infrastructure and of the blockchain technology, traces the possible uses of blockchain in aviation, gives real world examples and concludes with recommendations for practitioners moving forward.

AbstractThis paper studies the relationship between blockchain patents and firms' environmental and social performance. Using data from USPTO, we assess the effect of these patents on subcategories and aggregate grades for social and environmental dimensions. Our results show a negative main effect of blockchain‐related patents on social and environmental grades. However, this effect is moderated by company size and focus on R&D. We exploit the first legislation favorable to blockchain in the United States and find a positive effect of blockchain patents on environmental grades, showing a change in corporate behavior regarding the use of blockchain.

Applying Blockchain, Causal Loop Diagrams, and the Analytical Hierarchy Process to Enhance Fifth-Generation Ceramic Antenna Manufacturing: A Technology–Organization–Environment Framework Approach

This study used a technology–organization–environment (TOE) framework as the primary analytical tool to explore the burgeoning capabilities of blockchain technology in the area of 5G ceramic antenna development. A causal loop diagram (CLD) analysis is used to further clarify the complex dynamics and feedback mechanisms, and the impact of blockchain on the design, production, and deployment phases of ceramic antennas, which play a pivotal role in the development of 5G communications, is studied. We found that blockchain’s unique features, including its immutable ledger and decentralized architecture, have the potential to significantly improve the transparency, security, and efficiency of the ceramic antenna manufacturing process. Technology (T), organization (O), and environment (E) were used as the top factors, and the subfactors of TOE were selected and analyzed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) by CLD. The AHP analysis was used to evaluate the relative importance of various internal and external factors affecting the adoption of blockchain technology. The integration of the TOE framework with AHP and CLD provides a comprehensive analytical tool that enhances the understanding of the complex dynamics in the 5G ceramic antenna manufacturing process. This methodological approach not only clarifies the interactions between technological, organizational, and environmental factors but also facilitates strategic decision-making through a structured evaluation of these factors. The AHP analysis showed that technical factors are the most important in the TOE analysis of 5G ceramic antenna manufacturing, with a weight of 0.427, which indicates the important role of technical factors in the development of ceramic antenna production. In addition, environmental and organizational factors were given weights of 0.302 and 0.271, respectively, confirming the importance of technological innovation and internal process optimization. In the subfactor of Technology (T), ‘Blockchain Technology’ has the highest ranking among the subfactors, with a global weight value of 0.129, emphasizing the importance of blockchain technology. This study explored the technical and organizational complexities of introducing blockchain technology into the 5G ceramic antenna manufacturing industry and, through an in-depth investigation of the potential benefits of such integration, it aims to propose new approaches to improve quality control and manufacturing efficiency. The research findings aim to contribute to the sustainable growth of the telecommunications industry by providing strategic recommendations for the application of blockchain technology in the production of 5G ceramic antennas.

Recycling Mode Choice in a Textile and Apparel Closed-Loop Supply Chain considering Blockchain

The development of the textile and apparel (T&A) industry has led to an increasing focus on recycling used products. Remanufactured product quality raises consumer concerns, and blockchain can effectively solve this problem. We establish a closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) in which a manufacturer, a retailer, or a third-party recycler collects used T&A products to examine the most efficient recycling mode with and without blockchain and the impact of blockchain on CLSC decisions. The results show that (1) if the manufacturer’s recycling cost coefficient is relatively low, used T&A products are collected directly by the manufacturer. Otherwise, the responsibility for recycling used T&A products falls to the retailer or the third-party recycler. It is noteworthy that the manufacturer’s choice of recycling mode remains unchanged whether a blockchain is implemented or not. (2) The implementation of blockchain by the manufacturer and the retailer can increase profits and consumers also benefit when the cost of validating blockchain units remains below a certain threshold. (3) When the recycling cost coefficient exceeds a certain threshold, the implementation of blockchain increases prices and recycling rates. These findings offer CLSC members’ management insights into how to select the optimal recycling mode and the consequences of implementing blockchain.

Crossroads between Big Data and entrepreneurship: current key trends

Entrepreneurship is vital for economic growth and development, as it fosters innovation, creates jobs, and enhances competition and competitiveness. At the same time, in contemporary society, where the Internet has assumed the role of the primary instrument for both communication and commerce, effective utilisation of vast amounts of data has become imperative for businesses, especially in the entrepreneurial environment. To identify the main connections in two of the currently most trending concepts in business, we undertook a systematic literature review focusing on Big Data, entrepreneurship, and their interconnections in business management through 301 research documents. While numerous studies have already delved individually into Big Data and entrepreneurship, the interconnection between these concepts still has research potential. Our results reflect a growing interest in leading research on these topics, with specific leading authors and countries. Furthermore, we show and discuss a conceptual map consisting of five clusters, unveiling interesting connections such as the impact of blockchain on firms, the correlation between Big Data and firm performance, the role of data science, and the significance of Big Data analytics for operational performance. The article ends by examining how Big Data and entrepreneurship change the business landscape. While entrepreneurs use data for decision-making, innovation, and tailored customer experiences, there are lingering concerns such as data security and privacy. The future of business and innovation will depend, in part, on the crossroads between entrepreneurs and Big Data technologies.

The purpose of this article is to look at recent developments in forensic accounting that have to do with preventing and investigating fraud.
