In the area of earthquake, it is essential for structures to survive to mitigate their seismic responses. And among the most common strategies, the application of damping devices is of significant feasibility for its unarguable effects and being extremely straightforward. Dampers always work following an identical physical rule, however, difference in their position and shapes can enlarge the disparity in effects. To explore the difference, this research analysed the effect of damping devices installed in a particular concrete structure, where dampers are in different shapes but close in cost. The Finite element modelling technology is applied in simulation of the seismic response of concrete structure equipped with the dampers. According to the comparison of effects for different dampers, this research provided a reasonable suggestion for choosing damping devices.
