Introduction. For the multi-million-strong army of voice and speech professionals, the voice is not only a means of communication but also a tool in their professional activities. Phonation disorders have a severe impact on the emotional state of a professional, as they often lead to disability and professional ineptitude, which significantly reduces the quality of life. The urgency of the study is determined not only by the significant prevalence of acute laryngitis within dysphonias, but also by lack of effect of the current treatments. Aim. To evaluate the efficacy of combination therapy with Homeovox in the rehabilitation of voice professionals who underwent acute laryngitis. For this purpose, the following specific objectives have been set: to develop a treatment algorithm for patients with acute laryngitis using a homeopathic preparation as part of combination therapy and to evaluate its clinical efficacy in voice professionals. Materials and methods. A total of 20 patients (17 women and 3 men) were included in the study. The examination included videolaryngostroboscopy, acoustic voice analysis, and a subjective functional assessment of phonation quality using the author's Voice Visual Analogue Scale (VVAS) over three diagnostic visits. The patients were divided into two groups, medical rehabilitation in which was carried out in accordance with clinical recommendations and the use of a homeopathic drug group 1, and group 2 according to standard rehabilitation measures. Results and discussion. The comprehensive treatment using the homeopathic preparation has shown significant efficacy and safety of the developed algorithm for rehabilitating dysphonia in voice professionals from the first days of therapy, as confirmed by objective and subjective examination methods over time. Conclusions. The developed algorithm for the comprehensive treatment of voice professionals and introduction of Homeovox in conventional rehabilitation therapy proved to be effective and can be recommended for widespread implementation in daily practice, as they significantly improve clinical and functional outcomes and allow reaching the functional results in normalizing the voice quality much quicker.

  • Biomedical chromatography : BMC
  • Arun Kumar + 6 more

High performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) is an important quality control method for homeopathic mother tinctures. Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of India (HPI) provides standards for thin layer chromatography for many drugs. This study is aimed to develop HPTLC standards for those drugs for which TLC standards are not available in HPI. Sixteen drugs (Abrom. r., Bapt., Cass. fis., Cydo. vul., Dict. alb., Guat. gaum., J. ashok., Lactuc., Laur., Liat., Neg. ame., Olib., Onon. spi., Ruta, Chirata, and Ver. anth.) were identified for which TLC method is not available. The design of experiments (DOE) was formulated to determine solvents in the mobile phase, application quantity and dilution, and spray reagent with different combinations to develop separated chromatograms/fingerprints. The developed mobile phases were (9:10) in 11 out of 16 drugs, (80:10:10) in 2 out of 16 drugs, (40:40:10), (50:35:15), (100:15), and (100:11:11:26) are each in one drug. Spray reagent anisaldehyde was found compatible in 13 out of 16 drugs, and (NP/PEG) was used in 3 out of 16 drugs. Daylight, 254 nm, and 366 nm were used as light sources. HPTLC standards for 16 homeopathic drugs lacking entries in HPI were successfully developed. Continuous development of analytical standards is essential to support quality assurance in homeopathic formulations.

Background: High dilutions (HD) of homeopathic drugs are known to reduce nematode infection of crops. In the present study we tested the HD of a plant Teucrium marum varum on root-knot nematode infection of lady’s finger plants. HDs prepared by serial dilution followed by succussion are knows as potencies. Water structure in a potency is thought to carry the information of starting drug molecules. Teucrium potencies are known to reduce nematode infection in children. Objective The objective of the present study is to see whether a Teucrium potency (200 cH) could reduce root-knot nematode infection of lady’s finger plants. Further we want to see whether the anti-nematode effect of Teucrium 200 cH is transferable from one plant to another through water. Methodology: Teucrium 200 cH in 90% EtOH was diluted with deionized and distilled (DD) water and applied on a single leaf of plants inoculated with root-knot nematodes. Another group of inoculated plants was connected with the directly treated plants through water. Results and Discussion: Both the directly treated and connected plants showed significant reduction of nematode infection. Conclusions It is concluded that Teucrium 200 cH ameliorated root-knot nematode disease of plants and the anti-nematode effect of the drug is transferable from one plant to another through water. Key words: Homeopathic potency, Teucrium, Root-knot nematode, Lady’s finger plant, Water.

  • Apr 22, 2025
  • Journal of Integrated Standardized Homoeopathy
  • V Kumara Vel + 2 more

Introduction The incidence of diabetes mellitus (DM) has risen steadily in the past few decades. The number of cases is expected to be 643 million by 2045. Homoeopathy is currently the second most widely chosen and affordable alternative treatment method for managing DM symptoms. This systematic review attempted an extensive and fair assessment of the available data on homoeopathic intervention in type 2 DM (T2DM). Material and Methods Relevant studies from 1990 to 2024 were identified through a comprehensive literature search in electronic databases. Clinical trials comparing homoeopathic treatment strategies were included in the study. Information on patients, interventions and comparators, outcomes, study designs, and results were extracted in a standardised manner; the quality of research was assessed using the JADAD score. Trials with sufficient data were summarised and tabulated systematically. Results A total of 133 experimental and clinical trials were identified for screening. After a thorough screening, 83 eligible papers were identified, and finally, 14 full-text journal papers were selected. Among these, nine were clinical studies, four were in vivo studies and one was an in vitro study. Conclusion All the treatments in the type of papers claimed homoeopathic drugs to be effective in the treatment of T2DM. Many clinical papers lacked statistical analysis and reporting. However, this deficiency was not seen in in vivo or in vitro studies, which are conducted as per Institutional Animal Ethics Committee guidelines. More systematic reviews and meta-analyses should be conducted in the future to validate the role of homoeopathy in the treatment of T2DM.

  • Russian Journal of Physiotherapy, Balneology and Rehabilitation
  • Tatyana V Marfina + 3 more

BACKGROUND: According to statistics, approximately one third of the considered practically healthy men in Russia shows a declined quality of sexual functions. Various physiotherapeutic methods are a promising tool for restoring the male sexual health. AIM: To analyze the mechanisms and effectiveness of the original reflex-drug complex aimed at restoring the male sexual health. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 120 men under the 35 years of age whose questionnaire survey reported a significantly decreased quality of sexual activity. The patients’ examination program included psychological, biochemical, and electrophysiological methods. RESULTS: At the first stage of the work, the efficacy of self-administration in the selected group of the phytopharmaceutical and homeopathic drugs indicated for sexual disorders was evaluated. Eventually, the insufficient efficacy of this approach (improvement was observed within the limit of 50% of cases) was reported, which determined the appropriateness of additionally using the electric stimulation, including in sexual dysfunctions. 65% of men reported improved sexual performance in the setting of the combination method vs. 30% to 50% of those who used placebo. Furthermore, according to the follow-up findings, the proposed combination ensured a reliably higher stability of the achieved results. CONCLUSION: The efficacy of the combined drug and reflex effects used for preventive purposes in the male sexology has been confirmed. The efficacy of this technique can be explained not only by the summation, but also by the possible potentiation of the therapeutic mechanisms of the applied techniques.

  • V A Pakhare + 3 more

Samples of leaf spot disease were collected from a sapota orchard on the university campus and brought to the laboratory, the pathogen was isolated using the hyphal tip technique, and its pathogenicity was confirmed in both pot culture and moist blotter paper method. Neopestalotiopsis protearum isolate was identified based on cultural characteristics, morphology, pathogenicity tests, and molecular analysis. In the present investigation, biocontrol agents and homeopathic medications are used to combat the sapota leaf spot pathogen. Isolation, screening, and field testing of several biocontrol/homeopathic remedies requires substantial time, people, and resources. A total of 3 fungal and 2 bacterial bioagents were evaluated against N. protearum usingdual culture technique, out of which Trichoderma asperelloides and Trichoderma asperellum were found most effective which recorded least mycelial growth of 2.25 cm, and 2.88 cm corresponding to highest mycelial growth inhibition 74.31% and 67.14% respectively of the test pathogen over untreated control followed by Pseudomonas fluorescens and Trichoderma harzianum which recorded 3.38 cm and 3.70 cm radial mycelial growth and 61.43% and 57.71% inhibition of the test pathogen respectively. Ten homeopathic drugs at the concentration of 100 ppm were evaluated by employing poisoned food technique against N. protearum out of which Arsenicum and Rhus toxicodendrum had the highest mycelial growth inhibition percentage (100%), which was noteworthy when compared to the other drugs tested.

Nanotechnology may Explain the Mechanism of Homoeopathic Drug action
  • Jan 1, 2025
  • RASSA Journal of Science for Society
  • Shakti K Prabhuji + 1 more

Despite over 230 years of existence, the mechanism of action of homeopathic drugs remains unclear. The two fundamental principles of homeopathy - ‘Similia similibus curantur’ (like cures like) and the concept of water memory - have faced periodic scrutiny from scientists and skeptics. The mechanism of homoeopathic drug action has been categorized under - Enzyme co-factor concept, Molecular mechanism concept, Nano-particle concept together with the concept of Memory of water. While each concept has some scientific basis, the enzyme co-factor concept, nano-particle concept, and memory of water concept are grounded in more substantial scientific evidence, providing a plausible explanation for the mechanism of homeopathic drug action.

HomoeOmicsDB: A global reference platform for accelerating basic and application research in homeopathy
  • Dec 2, 2024
  • International Journal of High Dilution Research - ISSN 1982-6206
  • Kurian Poruthukaren + 6 more

Homeopathy, a globally practiced alternative medicine, faces criticism due to the lack of molecular mechanisms elucidating its drug actions. To address this, researchers are examining the mechanistic action of homeopathic drugs by assessing the molecular markers of various disorders in real-time patients and/or disease models. However, there is a gap: the lack of an assembled view of publicly available molecular-level studies hampers the research on homeopathic drugs. For example, the information on the mechanistic action of Arnica montana tinctures/dilutions - anti-inflammatory, apoptotic, anti-migratory, and healing properties through gene expression and cellular assays – are scattered over published scientific literature. To bridge this gap and accelerate research, we developed the HomoeOmicsDB database (https://ciods.in/homoeomicsdb/), the first reference and molecular analysis platform for multi-omic research in homeopathy. Currently, HomoeOmicsDB hosts information on 65 homeopathic drugs' effects on the expression of around 600 genes. This information is curated from over 100 peer-reviewed published research articles involving more than 50 human and animal cell lines. For each drug, the database integrates the studied host system (body fluid, tissue, host cell/line, cell type), and its regulated expression of genes at RNA, protein, and post-translational modification levels. The information assembled in HomoeOmicsDB, might galvanize research on molecular mechanisms of other homeopathic drugs with similar clinico-physiological outcomes. Integrated with the DisGeNet database, HomoeOmicsDB entails this comparative analysis of homeopathic drug efficacy for multiple disorders in practice. This would subsequently embrace translational/re-purposing options for diseases with limited or no therapeutic alternatives. Together, HomoeOmicsDB aims to serve as a platform for reference and integration of multi-omic data relevant to homeopathic research. The evaluation of the database by the practitioners and researchers would foster greater acceptance and integration of homeopathic medicine.

  • Nov 25, 2024
  • Meditsinskiy sovet = Medical Council
  • T G Malanicheva + 2 more

Introduction. Currently, much attention is paid to biregulatory therapy in the treatment of ARI, the goal of which is to improve the outcome of treatment by maintaining the body’s ability to autoregulate.Aim. To study the effectiveness and safety of bioregulatory therapy using the multicomponent homeopathic drug in children with acute respiratory infections.Materials and methods. 42 children with acute respiratory infections from 3 months to 7 years were examined. Main group: 22 children receiving, as part of complex therapy, the multicomponent homeopathic drug in the form of rectal suppositories as an antipyretic and anti-inflammatory agent. Comparison group: 20 children receiving the antipyretic and anti-inflammatory drug paracetamol. All patients were prescribed symptomatic therapy, which did not differ in the compared groups.Results. It was revealed that the administration of the multicomponent homeopathic drug leads to a more rapid decrease in temperature (in the main group 1.70 ± 0.14 day; in the comparison group – 3.78 ± 0.17 day, p < 0.05) against the background of the disappearance of myalgia, headache, relief of symptoms of discomfort and intoxication, as well as manifestations of the local inflammatory process (sore throat, hyperemia of the pharynx, nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, cough), which led to a reduction in the duration of the disease by 3.4 days and reducing the need for antibiotics by 3.3 times. No side effects from the use of the multicomponent homeopathic drug were identified.Discussion. The results of the study are comparable with the literature data. Thus, foreign authors have shown that the drug multicomponent homeopathic drug meets all the requirements for effective, but at the same time practically risk-free therapy for febrile anxiety, influenza infections, and pain.Conclusions. The prescription of the multicomponent homeopathic drug as part of the complex therapy of ARI in children leads to faster relief of all symptoms and a reduction in the duration of the disease than with the use of paracetamol, with a better safety profile.

The purpose of the work was to assess the mechanisms and therapeutic capabilities of the reflex-drug complex used for preventive purposes in the field of male sexology. Materials and methods: 260 healthy men under the age of 35 were monitored, who were quoted, but differed in the deterioration of the quality of sexual activity. During the examination, their current mental state and, biochemically, the activity of the pituitary-gonadal systems were determined. Electrophysiological examination included electroneuromyography and ultrasound Doppler sonography of the vessels. At the first stage of the work, the effectiveness of the independent use of phyto- and homeopathic drugs indicated for dysfunctions was evaluated. The observed individuals were divided into groups in which, in addition to three different medications, placebo was used. However, the insufficient effectiveness of this approach determined the additional use of transcutaneous electrical stimulation. In this regard, treatment groups were identified, in which, in addition to the reflex-drug complex used in the main group, placebo was used. Results of the study. In the study group, 65 % of men noted an improvement in sexual activity, while in the compared groups – no more than 50 %. In addition, according to the follow-up data, the proposed complex provided a reliably greater stability of the results achieved. Conclusion. In the course of the study, the effectiveness of a complex of medicinal and reflex effects used for preventive purposes in the field of male sexology was confirmed. The effectiveness of this combination can even be explained by the potentiation of therapeutic mechanisms.
