Intelligent Development, Knowledge Breadth, and High-Tech Enterprise Innovation: The Moderating Role of Knowledge Absorptive Capacity

Innovation serves as the cornerstone for high-quality development in high-tech enterprises, with intelligent development emerging as a central aspect of innovation efforts. However, how intelligent development promotes the innovative development of high-tech enterprises is still a topic of continuous debate and exploration. By integrating enterprise innovation theory and knowledge-based theory, this paper constructs a theoretical framework to examine the influence of intelligent development on high-tech enterprise innovation. Through an analysis of 694 listed high-tech enterprises on China’s manufacturing A-share market from 2013 to 2021, we empirically investigated the effects of mediating mechanisms and moderating effects of intelligent development on high-tech enterprise innovation. The results show that intelligent development significantly boosts high-tech enterprise innovation. Knowledge breadth plays a mediating role in the relationship between intelligent development and high-tech enterprise innovation, indicating that intelligent development promotes high-tech enterprise innovation by enhancing knowledge breadth. Additionally, knowledge absorptive capacity can strengthen the impact of knowledge breadth on high-tech enterprise innovation, that is, the stronger the knowledge absorptive capacity, the greater the impact of knowledge breadth on high-tech enterprise innovation. The conclusion of this paper provides a theoretical basis and practical guidance for high-tech enterprises regarding how to better use intelligent technology for innovation. Relevant enterprises can strengthen their knowledge management and mobility strategies and fully utilize the potential of intelligent technology to achieve more innovative and competitive development.

Mediating Role Of Human Capital Between Corporate Social Responsibility And Technological Innovation: The Case Of High-Tech Firms In China

This study aims to empirically test the relationship between multi-dimensional corporate social responsibility (CSR), human capital, and technological innovation of high-tech enterprises and analyze the mediating role of human capital. This study focuses on high-tech firms located in China. An online questionnaire was distributed among employees of high-tech enterprises. Analysis was performed using a partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). The results show that shareholder, employee, customer, environment, and social CSR significantly affect human capital, and human capital plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between CSR and technological innovation. This study differs from previous CSR research, which evaluates the link between the five dimensions of CSR and technological innovation to examine new opportunities for the development of technological innovation in high-tech enterprises.

Evaluation of dynamic technological innovation capability in high-tech enterprises based on pythagorean fuzzy LBWA and MULTIMOORA

With the rapid development of science and technology, high-tech enterprises need to constantly carry out technological innovation to adapt to the changes in the external environment, and maintain their competitive advantages. However, the current research on technological innovation of high-tech enterprises is carried out from a static perspective, which is difficult to understand the dynamic evolution process of continuous technological innovation of high-tech enterprises in a turbulent environment. Therefore, this paper studies high-tech enterprises’ dynamic technological innovation ability from a dynamic perspective, through literature reading and the investigation of the technological innovation status of high-tech enterprises, the evaluation index system of 12 indicators under three dimensions is constructed. The multi-objective optimization by ratio analysis plus full multiplicative form (MULTIMOORA) –Level-based weight assessment (LBWA) comprehensive evaluation model based on Pythagorean fuzzy number (PFN) is proposed to evaluate the dynamic technological innovation ability of high-tech enterprises. Finally, the accuracy and reliability of the model are verified by case analysis. The result of this study shows that the ability to identify new technological knowledge and information outside the enterprise, the ability to obtain technological innovation resources, and the ability to strengthen the input of innovation resources are important factors for the dynamic technological innovation capability of enterprises, so enterprises should pay more attention from these aspects. This study provides a new comprehensive evaluation model and evaluation results can help the decision-makers find their strengths and weaknesses in time and improve them, to promote the sustainable development of high-tech enterprises.

Coupling synergy calculation between innovation and ethical responsibility for high-tech enterprises from the perspective of responsibility innovation

This paper aims to analyze the coupling coordination degree of technology, economy, social responsibility, and ethic of technological innovation in high-tech enterprises, and provide basis for the optimization of technological innovation system structure in high-tech enterprises. Using data of high-tech enterprises in China Statistical Yearbook and China Statistical Yearbook of Science and Technology in 2018, the authors applied Cloud model to index transformation, consistent fuzzy preference relations to determine index weights, coupling degree model to measure the coupling degree of responsible innovation system of high-tech enterprises in China. Research results show that the responsible innovation system of China’s high-tech enterprises in 2018 is in a low degree of coordination and coupling stage, and the high-tech enterprises in China invest relatively little in technical level, social development, and ethical innovation. This research contributes to the literature on responsible innovation, ethical responsibility in the high-tech enterprises, which is conducive to improving the quality of innovation activities. However, this research collected data from a single country at a single point in time. This paper studies from the perspective of responsible innovation and measures the coupling degree between innovation and ethical responsibility of high-tech enterprises. The establishment of coupling analysis model can not only effectively calculate the coupling degree of technological innovation system, but also deeply analyze the shortcomings of each subsystem of technological innovation system, and provide a basis for the formulation of promotion strategy.

Research on the Influence of Trade Friction on the Innovation of High-tech Enterprises in China

This paper empirically examines the impact of trade frictions on R&D innovation in Chinese high-tech firms based on the data of three batches of the list of U.S. tariffs on Chinese exports in 2018 and the data of listed companies from 2007 to 2020, using the event of U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods as a quasi-natural experiment. It is found that:trade frictions have a negative impact on high-tech enterprises, mainly through the “cost effect” and “Schumpeter effect” to inhibit innovation.

A Research on Open Innovation of High-tech Enterprises in the New Era

In recent years, open innovation is to coordinate the internal and external resources of an enterprise, and earn extra profits through both internal and external market paths. This model has been warmly welcomed by the business community. However, under the background of taking innovation as a national strategy, the independent intellectual property rights possessed by the enterprises themselves have become more important. High-tech enterprises are the main force of enterprise innovation. The measurement of a regional economic structure and the degree of modernization are important indicators of the competitiveness of an industry, and also an important indicator of the economic development and the level of science and technology in a place. Therefore, the article takes the open innovation of high-tech enterprises in the new era as the research object.

Strategic Charitable Giving and R&D Innovation of High-Tech Enterprises: A Dynamic Perspective Based on the Corporate Life Cycle

As important components of differentiation strategy, charitable giving and R&D innovation can have a profound impact on the survival and growth of high-tech enterprises. However, the strategic interaction between them has not been studied in depth using the whole-life-cycle perspective. With Chinese A-share-listed high-tech enterprises in the 2015–2020 period as the research sample, the Tobit model was used to empirically test the interaction between charitable giving and R&D innovation and analyze differences in their utility over different life cycles. The results show that there was a strategic synergy between charitable giving and R&D innovation and charitable giving could significantly improve R&D innovation, but its utility was affected by changes in the life cycle of firms. Among them, the synergy utility was highest for maturing firms, followed by declining firms, but not significant for growing firms. A further study on the synergistic utility of mature firms found that, for non-state firms where executives have an R&D background, charitable giving could promote integration of external advantageous resources and R&D innovation development. Finally, the regression findings remained significant after accounting for possible endogeneity and heteroskedasticity between charitable giving and R&D innovation.

How does risk-taking affect the green technology innovation of high-tech enterprises in China: the moderating role of financial mismatch.

As a core driver for the high-tech enterprises, green technology innovation is crucial, even with high financial risk. Against this background, this paper empirically examines the impact of risk-taking on green technology innovation of high-tech enterprises, taking Chinese A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2020 as the research sample and considering the moderating effect of financial mismatch. Findings show the following: First, the effect of risk-taking on green technology innovation of high-tech enterprises is insignificant in most cases, and the inhibitory effect of financial mismatch is partly supported. Second, financial mismatch only counter-regulates the inhibitory effect of systematic risk-taking on the number of invention patents granted in the eastern sample. Third, the effect of risk-taking on green technology innovation is significantly heterogeneous in terms of property rights and regional heterogeneity, regardless of considering the moderating effect of financial mismatch or not. Finally, the policy implementations point out that the government should create a favorable investment environment, financial institutions should adjust the way of capital allocation, while high-tech enterprises should broaden the financing channels to enhance their risk-taking ability, and promote green technological innovation to achieve high-quality economic development.

Digital Transformation on Enterprise Green Innovation: Effect and Transmission Mechanism.

With the development of blockchain, big data, cloud computing and other new technologies, how to achieve innovative development and green sustainable development in digital transformation has become one of the key issues for enterprises to obtain and maintain core competitiveness. However, little of the literature has paid attention to the impact of digital transformation on enterprise green innovation. Using the data of Chinese A-share listed companies from 2010 to 2020, this paper empirically analyzes the impact of enterprise digital transformation on green innovation and its transmission mechanism, by constructing double fixed-effect models. The results show that digital transformation has remarkably promoted the green innovation of enterprises. R&D investment, government subsidies, and income tax burden have played a conductive role between digital transformation and enterprise green innovation. Furthermore, digital transformation can significantly promote the high-quality green innovation of enterprises and also plays a more significant role in promoting the green innovation of high-tech enterprises and state-owned enterprises. A robustness test is carried out by using the lag data and changing the measurement methods of the dependent variable and independent variables, and the research conclusions are still valid. Based on resource-based theory and dynamic capability theory, this paper reveals the impact path of digital transformation on enterprise green innovation, further expanding the research field of digital transformation and enriching the research on the influencing factors of enterprise green innovation. This paper provides policy suggestions for the government to improve the enterprise green innovation level by increasing government subsidies and providing tax incentives and also provides reference for digital transformation enterprises to accelerate green innovation by increasing R&D investment, obtaining government subsidies, and acquiring tax policy support.

Investigating the Relationship Between Entity Financialization, Managers' Incentives, and Enterprise's Innovation: Fresh Evidence From China.

The current study examines the relationship between financialization, managers’ incentives, and the enterprise’s innovation. Based on the principal-agent and incentive theories, this study proposes a research model with two management incentives as moderating variables between financialization and the enterprise’s innovation. First, we analyze the direct relationship between financialization and the enterprise’s innovation. Second, we examine the moderating effect of managers’ equity incentive and compensation incentives on the relationship between entity financialization and the enterprise’s innovation in high-tech/non-high-tech enterprises and state-owned and non-state-owned enterprises. This study covers the most recent updated data from both A-share listed companies in the Shenzhen and Shanghai stock exchange in China from 2009 to 2019. This study’s finding indicates a significant negative impact of entity financialization and the enterprise’s innovation. It means that the entity financial has a significant “crowding-out” effect on the enterprise’s innovation. This study also confirms that management incentives cannot effectively suppress a “crowding-out” impact of entity financialization on firm innovation because of the principal-agent severe problem in financialization. Finally, considering the heterogeneities of property rights and degrees of dependence on the enterprise’s innovation, a “crowding-out” effect of entity financialization on the enterprise’s innovation is more significant in high-tech and state-owned enterprises. Managers’ equity incentive significantly affects the enterprise’s innovation in high-tech enterprises, while the managers’ compensation incentive affects the enterprise’s innovation in state-owned enterprises. Our study could help the enterprise to improve the company manager’s incentive and provide the optimal assets allocation to improve the enterprise’s innovation ability. Lastly, this study provides significant policies and recommendations for the public sector high-tech enterprise and private sector high-tech enterprises. Moreover, policies and recommendations are fruitful for the public sector non-high-tech enterprise and private sector non-high-tech enterprise.

Linkage Between Inclusive Digital Finance and High-Tech Enterprise Innovation Performance: Role of Debt and Equity Financing.

This study investigates the relationship between digital financial inclusion, external financing, and the innovation performance of high-tech enterprises in China. The choice of corporate financing methods is an important part of organizational behavioral psychology, and different financing models will have a certain effect on organizational performance, especially in the digital economy environment. Therefore, based on resource dependence theory and financing constraint theory, the present study utilizes the panel data collected from the China Stock Market & Accounting Research (CSMAR) database from 2011 to 2020 of 112 companies in the Yangtze River Delta region and the “The Peking University Digital Financial Inclusion Index of China (PKU-DFIIC)” released by the Peking University Digital Finance Research Center and Ant Financial Group. The results show that the Digital Financial Inclusion Index (DFIIC) has a significant positive correlation with the innovation performance of high-tech enterprises. The higher the level of debt financing, the stronger the role of digital financial inclusion in promoting innovation performance. Investigating the DFIIC in terms of coverage breadth and usage depth, we find that usage depth does not significantly encourage innovation performance. The effect of the interaction between coverage breadth and external financing is consistent with the results for the DFIIC. The study suggests that equity financing promotes the usage depth of the DFIIC in state-owned enterprises. In contrast, debt financing promotes the coverage breadth of non-state-owned enterprises. Finally, we propose relevant policy recommendations based on the research results. It includes in-depth popularization of inclusive finance in the daily operations of enterprises at the technical level, refinement of external financing policy incentives for enterprises based on the characteristics of ownership, and strengthening the research of technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud computing. The paper presents a range of theoretical and practical implications for practitioners and academics relevant to high-tech enterprises.

The influence of government subsidy on enterprise innovation: based on Chinese high-tech enterprises

This paper uses data from all the listed high-tech enterprises in China, from 2013 to 2018, as the samples employed to study the impact of government subsidies on the innovation of high-tech enterprises, as well as the subsidy mechanism. The mechanism is analysed mainly from the perspectives of resource effect and signal transmission effect. In the theoretical analysis, from the perspective of resource effect, the capital guiding role of government subsidies is considered. In addition, this study creatively discusses the impact of rent-seeking behaviour in combination with China's anti-corruption practice. From the perspective of signal transmission, government subsidies are no longer only interpreted as positive signals of the government being in favour of enterprise financing. This study further believes that government subsidies transmit a signal to the public, encouraging them to strengthen their supervision of subsidised enterprises. A multiple regression model and mediating effect model indicate that government subsidies achieve the purpose of stimulating enterprise innovation. The stimulating effect of government subsidies through financing constraints and signal transmission is 9.48% and 10.16%, respectively. These results are consistent with the positive externality theory and the signal transmission theory. At the end of the paper, several relevant suggestions are presented, according to the current developments.

Analysis on the Status quo of Government subsidies for High-tech enterprises in China

In order to promote technological innovation of high-tech enterprises and speed up the process of enterprise innovation, the government has issued a series of subsidy policies. Among them, government subsidies can provide direct financial support for enterprises’ innovative research and development. The extent to which government subsidies cover high-tech enterprises and the use of government subsidies by enterprises have also attracted more and more attention. This article selects the high-tech companies from the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange from 2010 to 2019, and studies the status quo of their government subsidies in terms of coverage, total distribution, use, and industries. It is found that the current high-tech companies have a high coverage of government subsidies and involve a wide range of industries, The financial support is relatively large, but different enterprises and industries are relatively unbalanced, and a relatively high proportion of government subsidies in enterprises are used for daily business activities. At the same time, it provides suggestions for the investment and utilization of government subsidies based on the research status.

The impact of heterogeneous environmental regulation on innovation of high-tech enterprises in China: mediating and interaction effect.

It is important for China's green innovation productivity and sustainable development to study the effect of heterogeneous environmental regulation on microenterprise innovation activities. Based on the panel data of high-tech enterprises in China from 2012 to 2017, the article studies the incentive effect of heterogeneous environmental regulation on technological innovation and the mediation of innovation input and explores whether different types of environmental regulations have interactive effects on enterprise innovation. The results reveal that compared with the command-controlled environmental regulation, the incentive effect of market-incentive environmental regulation and voluntary environmental regulation on enterprise innovation is more significant, where the innovation input fully plays its role as a mediating effect. Further research finds that there is an interactive effect between command-controlled environmental regulation and other two regulatory tools, but no interactive effect between market-incentive environmental regulation and voluntary environmental regulation, which shows that the control-based regulatory tools and more flexible regulatory tools have a complementary effect on enterprise innovation. Through revealing the internal mechanism of environmental regulation on enterprise innovation, the article displays the process of technological innovation, and it also finds that flexible regulation tools and the combination of rigid and flexible tools are more conducive to encourage enterprises to carry out innovation activities.

Improving high-tech enterprise innovation in big data environment: A combinative view of internal and external governance

The emergence of big data brings both opportunities and challenges to high-tech enterprises. How to keep competitive advantages and improve innovation performance is important for enterprises in big data environment. Except from organizational learning ability and the use of advanced technology, the corporate governance also plays an important role in the process of enterprise’s innovation practice. This article creatively combines with the insights of internal and external governance, and explores how the managerial power and network centrality affects enterprise’s innovation performance in big data environment. Considering about the differences among distinct regional big data environment (strong/weak), this paper also takes classification research on it. The research findings show that managerial power has a significant positive impact on innovation performance, managerial power could enhance enterprise’s centrality in network, and the enterprise which located in network central position has more advantages in obtaining resources and significantly improves firm’s innovation performance. Network centrality plays a mediating role on managerial power and innovation performance. Further research finds that the positive effects of managerial power and network centrality are more significantly in the strong big data environment. These findings enrich the research of high-tech enterprise innovation from a combinative governance view, and contribute to the literatures on enterprise innovation in big data environment.

A novel risk evaluation method of technological innovation using an inferior ratio-based assignment model in the face of complex uncertainty

Technological innovation is critically important for high-tech firms in laying the groundwork for corporate growth and competitive advantages. It is hoped that evaluating risk accurately and effectively will contribute to assign appropriate priorities of technological innovation projects and to enhance the success rate for the whole project. In considering the issue of risk evaluation, the essential question that arises concerns strong fuzziness, ambiguity, and inexactness during the process of assessing risks. However, comparatively little research has focused on accommodating higher degrees of uncertainty in evaluating risks associated with technological innovation projects. Because the existing risk evaluation methods (such as models using net present values, internal rates of return, fuzzy logic, real options, and stochastic simulation) have certain limitations, this paper takes the powerfulness of interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy (IVPF) sets into account to handle imprecise and ambiguous information and to characterize complex uncertainty in practical risk evaluation problems. This paper aims to propose an IVPF inferior ratio (IR)-based assignment model and to establish a novel risk evaluation method of technological innovation for the purpose of appropriately tackling highly uncertain information in intricate and varied circumstances. The proposed method provides an effective way to fuse complicated information about risk assessments and to identify an aggregate ranking of technological innovation projects that has the closest agreement with all indicator-wise precedence ranks. The feasibility and applicability of the IVPF IR-based assignment model are illustrated via a real-world case concerning the risk evaluation of technological innovation in high-tech enterprises. Furthermore, the practicality and effectiveness of the developed methodology are verified through a comparative analysis with other relevant approaches.
