This paper addresses the core issue of the imbalance between supply and demand for high-level medical–engineering integration talents under the “Healthy China” strategy in the AI+ era. Based on human capital theory and innovation capital theory, it constructs a six-dimensional collaborative theoretical model for the cultivation of medical–engineering integration postgraduates, driven by high-quality employment and guided by innovative financial capital. This model breaks through the disciplinary barriers and institutional constraints of traditional postgraduate education and for the first time creates a knowledge graph curriculum system for medical–engineering interdisciplinary studies. It also establishes a multi-dimensional evaluation index system that integrates the appreciation of innovation capital and the premium of human capital. Through the case of the six-dimensional collaborative research and development and transformation of intelligent medical equipment by our research group, the feasibility and promotion value of this new paradigm for future postgraduate education have been fully verified.

Kenya’s labor market in 2024–2025 reflects a structural paradox: sustained economic growth alongside limited progress in generating formal, high-quality employment. While total employment rose to approximately 20.8 million, nearly 90% of new jobs were informal, constraining productivity and social protection coverage. Youth unemployment and NEET rates remain elevated, signaling systemic risks to human capital development. Concurrently, the digital economy is reshaping labor dynamics, creating opportunities through fintech, e-commerce, and gig platforms, yet introducing vulnerabilities such as income volatility, algorithmic control, and regulatory gaps. This study employs a descriptive-analytical approach using secondary data from KNBS, Central Bank of Kenya, and international policy reports to examine employment trends, sectoral drivers, and digitalization impacts. Findings indicate that Kenya’s employment challenge is structural rather than cyclical, requiring integrated reforms that combine sectoral productivity upgrading, demand-linked skills development, and labor-market governance modernization. Policy recommendations emphasize leveraging the Digital Economy Blueprint to formalize MSMEs, expand digital skills, and extend social protection to platform workers, thereby aligning technological transformation with inclusive, decent work outcomes.

The integration of industry and education serves as a critical pathway for improving the quality of talent training in higher vocational colleges and achieving high-quality employment for graduates. This study employs linear regression and moderating effect models to examine the impact of industry–education integration on employment quality in higher vocational institutions, using data from the 2024 Vocational Education Quality Annual Report from 689 higher vocational colleges in China. The results show an inverted “U” relationship between the integration level of industry and education and employment quality in higher vocational colleges. Moreover, teachers’ qualification level and curriculum development capacity negatively moderate this relationship. Additionally, the effect of the industry–education integration on employment quality is heterogeneous across the public and private institutions, and whether a college has been designated as a “Double High” institution. Therefore, efforts should be made to strengthen teachers’ practical teaching abilities and enhance curriculum adaptability, as well as to implement differentiated guidance and support policies to effectively improve graduates’ employment quality.

Live streaming recruiting, as an innovative 'cloud-based' strategy, has swiftly gained traction owing to its cost-effectiveness, high efficiency, and immersive interactivity. Nonetheless, it encounters obstacles such as information distortion, absence of standards, and platform governance challenges. Adhering to the PRISMA guidelines, this study meticulously collected 18 journal articles and conference reports published between 2020 and 2025, and employed thematic analysis to examine the data, thereby obtaining substantiating evidence. The advantages are categorised under eight themes: spatial and temporal advancements, cost efficiency, immersive engagement, accurate matching, job creation for targeted demographics, holistic enhancement of the efficacy of state employment services, facilitation of interregional labour mobility and promotion of regional economic development, and digitisation of recruitment procedures coupled with industrial upgrading. The disadvantages are categorised into nine themes: information distortion, lack of standardisation, inadequate content preparation, limited interactive feedback, data security threats, cultural incongruence, pressure to conform to public opinion, technology deficiencies, and concealed costs. The research indicates that creating a cohesive management structure, advancing the professionalisation of 'live streaming recruiters,' and instituting credit rating and blacklist systems are essential for addressing the 'efficiency-trust' dilemma. The report finds that governments, platforms, and institutions must work to elevate live streaming recruiting from a mere 'traffic instrument' to a 'high-quality employment infrastructure'.

ABSTRACT This dissertation explores the mismatch between the supply of apprenticeship applicants and mid-qualified workers and the demand from firms. It investigates how socio-economic and institutional factors contribute to unequal access to employment opportunities and examining the issue at three levels: institutional, firm, and individual. This research focuses on the demand side of the labour market, examining the role of recruiters and firms in shaping recruitment decisions. At the institutional level, the study assesses the effectiveness of active labour market policies (ALMPs) in supporting low-skilled applicants. At the firm level, it explores how product-innovating firms prioritise personality traits in recruiting mid-qualified workers. At the individual level, the dissertation examines how recruiter characteristics influence gender discrimination in apprenticeship recruitment for gender-segregated occupations. Findings suggest that financial support increases the recruitment of low-skilled applicants, certain personality traits are important for product-innovating firms, and recruiter preferences impact gender biases in recruitment. The study highlights the need for targeted interventions to improve access to high-quality employment opportunities.

Over 60% of young people in Africa are unemployed, creating a serious youth unemployment issue that exacerbates instability and limits peacebuilding chances. The variables that either encourage youth to use violence or allow them to make positive contributions to society are the primary purpose of this study, which examines the dual role of unemployed youth as agents of peace and conflict. The research uses a content analysis technique that includes case studies and policy analysis to identify the main factors contributing to youth involvement in conflict, including social exclusion, political marginalization, and economic deprivation. On the other hand, youngsters are empowered as peacebuilders through focused peacebuilding initiatives, inclusive governance, and access to high-quality employment. The findings highlight the necessity of comprehensive measures addressing systemic injustices, encouraging respectable employment, and engaging youth in politics. Policymakers may turn this demographic dilemma into a chance for long-term peace and development by utilizing the potential of Africa's youth through calculated investments in inclusion, work, and education.

Healthcare aides (HCAs) are vital in supporting Canada's growing aging population. Rural communities face unique but understudied challenges to HCA recruitment and retention, including limited training options and employment opportunities. To better understand and address these challenges, this qualitative study investigated HCAs' experiences of training and working in a rural Canadian town. This training was subsidized by a municipal tuition assistance program, which provided up to $5,000 towards tuition fees. In 2023, through a community-engaged research partnership with the town, we conducted three focus group interviews with 11 women studying to become certified HCAs, supported by the municipal tuition assistance program. Focus group interviews explored topics such as educational and work experiences, impacts of these experiences on their day-to-day lives, and their perceptions of high-quality employment. Qualitative data, including transcripts, fieldnotes, and reflexive notes, were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. Participants applied to the HCA program for various reasons, arriving with diverse personal and professional backgrounds. Most participants had no previous postsecondary education. We generated three themes: (1) fostering friendships and community; (2) inspiring confidence and pride in school, the workplace, and home; and (3) working to improve the profession. Participants considered their in-person (as opposed to online) education to be a key factor in increasing their confidence at work. Engaging in union activity and advocacy work represented a significant way participants exerted their confidence and skills. Participants' engagement with their union and collective bargaining resulted in improved working conditions for local HCAs and other healthcare workers. This study is one of few to explore rural HCA training and working in Canada and is the only one (to our knowledge) focusing on HCAs' experiences of accessing a tuition assistance program. This research also contributes to literature on improving HCA working conditions. Empowering HCAs to participate in decision-making about their work environments could lead to positive outcomes for workers and care recipients. Our findings underscore the importance of providing accessible, high-quality HCA programs in rural communities, particularly given the increasing demand for elder care in Canada.

The concept of high-quality employment requires teacher trainees to achieve full employment and career development, and more importantly, to realize their self-worth and gain all-round development. Employability of teacher trainees is a bridge connecting the cultivation of talents in colleges and universities with the needs of the society, and it is also the key to the successful employment and career development of teacher trainees. In retrospect, the existing research on employability focuses on connotation analysis and strategy cultivation, but pays little attention to the teacher trainee group, and the framework of the employability of the college student group will lead to the dislocation of teacher trainee's characteristics. Paying attention to and improving the employability of teacher trainees at the pre-service training stage can improve their adaptability to the primary and secondary school teaching profession after graduation, thus helping to reduce the turnover rate of primary and secondary school teachers. Drawing on existing relevant studies, this study compiled its own "Employability Assessment Scale for College Teacher Students" through the Delphi method, and after item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and reliability test, established an employability model for teacher students that contains five dimensions: professional competence, general competence, competing competence, vocational qualities, and personality traits, and promoted the cultivation of employability to be embedded in the curriculum system of teacher education.

As globalization deepens, concerns over global fragmentation have intensified, accompanied by rising expectations that the Global South will emerge as a key driver of innovation, competitiveness, advanced markets, and high-quality employment. The widespread diffusion of the Internet and smartphones across developing countries suggests the possibility of leapfrog growth, highlighting the informal economy as a potential source of innovation. Recent developments in generative artificial intelligence (GAI) have further underscored the opportunity for collaborative engagement between developed and developing countries to awaken and harness sleeping innovation resources. This study investigates the dynamism of such international collaboration, focusing on digitalization-related challenges and its contributions to leapfrog growth. The interconnections among Internet usage, smartphone penetration, and economic development are examined, revealing the formation of a self-propagating cycle facilitated by GAI. A mathematical model is constructed to demonstrate the dependency of growth on sleeping resources inherent in the informal economy, which is empirically validated through data from nine African countries. Using the coevolutionary dynamics of Amazon and AWS as a conceptual reference, a novel framework is proposed for international collaborative utilization of sleeping innovation resources, offering new insights into GAI-driven innovation rooted in the informal economy.

IntroductionGreen and low-carbon development is a fundamental pathway to modernization and a critical driver of common prosperity. Using panel data from 279 prefecture-level cities in China from 2010 to 2022, this study empirically examines the impact of low-carbon city pilot policies on common prosperity and their underlying mechanisms.MethodsCommon prosperity is measured using principal component analysis, and a staggered difference-in-differences model is applied for empirical analysis. Robustness is verified through parallel trend test, placebo test, propensity score matching difference-in-differences, instrumental variable estimation, etc. Additionally, a moderation model is used to examine the U-shaped moderating effect of green technological innovation on the relationship between low-carbon transition and common prosperity.ResultsThe implementation of low-carbon city pilot policies significantly promotes common prosperity, this result remained robust in multiple robustness tests, and this effect exhibits a time lag. Green technological innovation plays a U-shaped moderating role in the relationship between low-carbon city pilot policies and common prosperity. Low-carbon city pilot policies contribute to common prosperity by enhancing employment quality and fostering human capital agglomeration. The positive effects of low-carbon city pilot policies are more significant in eastern and central regions, non-central cities, cities with lower urbanization levels, and cities with smaller income distribution gap.DiscussionBased on the findings, this study recommends advancing low-carbon city pilot policies through region-specific strategies, promoting green innovation and high-quality employment, and fostering human capital development through targeted support measures. Furthermore, it is essential to establish dynamic policy evaluation and adjustment mechanisms, while strengthening interregional cooperation and ensuring equitable labor mobility, to achieve the coordinated progress of urban green transformation and common prosperity.

The environmental protection industry is central to China’s green transition and essential for achieving the “Dual Carbon” goals. Through the policy logic of expected environmental governance, high-quality employment in this sector serves as a demonstrative model for overall employment changes across society and plays a key role in coordinating the achievement of both environmental and economic objectives. This study proposes a comprehensive evaluation framework for assessing high-quality employment in the environmental protection industry. Using the entropy method, Moran’s Index, and spatial econometric models, we analyze data from 31 Chinese provinces over the period from 2011 to 2022. The results show a steady improvement in employment quality within the industry, although significant regional disparities persist, with eastern coastal provinces outperforming the western regions. Spatial autocorrelation analysis further reveals a positive spatial relationship in high-quality employment levels, indicating that neighboring provinces tend to exhibit similar employment quality. Additionally, factors such as economic development, fixed asset investment, government support, and R&D investment were found to significantly influence employment quality in the sector. These findings enrich the research on high-quality employment in specific industry sectors and improve the theoretical system of research on social employment quality under the “Dual-Carbon” policy.

Finding work after college has always been a big problem for universities and society as a whole. The problem of graduates from higher vocational schools having a hard time finding work is especially noticeable. COVID-19 has slowed down China's social and economic growth in the last few years; things are not looking good for the national economy, which directly leads to the dire state of jobs. The number of college students in higher vocational colleges is growing every day, as is the number of graduates. At the same time, the job market is getting more and more competitive, and there is still a gap between the skills of college students in higher vocational colleges and the skills that are needed in the job market—this has made it harder for college students in higher vocational colleges to find jobs. Thus, making college students in higher vocational schools more employable by developing their overall skills and helping them become more competitive for jobs have become important tasks for higher education and pressing problems that need to be fixed. Based on a comprehensive analysis of existing research, this paper proposes four strategic suggestions: building a talent training model based on employability factors, strengthening the construction of high-quality vocational education characteristic courses, giving full play to the role of practical teaching in cultivating employability, and building a high-quality employment service system for higher vocational colleges. This aims to provide a reference for improving the employability of graduates from higher vocational colleges.
