The two most common factors in the production of unilateral hydronephrosis, accounting for about 85 per cent of the cases, are calculi and ureteral constriction. Less common causes are stricture of the pelvis, ectopic kidney and aberrant vessels. Heredity has not previously been considered an etiologic factor. The hereditary factor present in the cases here reported indicates that this etiology should be considered when other causes are not discovered.... This content is PDF only.
